As an RC I've been asked to get these threads started. They need to conform to a certain template so I write them up and post them, then I organise for the ownership of the q&a thread to be transferred to the OP of the ROM.

Thanks Timmaaa! I kept looking on this section and didn't see this tjread.
Now I can finally ask - will long-press back be implemented? It's ever so satisfying to kill apps with it.

Thats up to the AOKP team I just compile the rom for them. It should if it was on 4.3 AOKP. All 4.4.2 roms are started from scratch and coding the features to the rom which is why features are now pouring out. Ill let you know as soon as an update releasesthe specific feature.

Good to hear. Hows the rom in your opinion? Buttery smooth? 1.90 uploading now. Link on thread when done.

Its been great! I haven't stayed on a ROM this long in months. For a while I jumped back and forth between various 4.3 and 4.4 AOSP builds and Sense. This ROM fulfills 95% of what Sense does, and satisfies my need for the bleeding edge.
That's not really a fair comparison since Sense is basically stock, and this is scratch built. I'm amazed at how perfect this can be on 4.4, since so many 4.3 ROMs were either very barebones or on the buggy side. No more reboots or SODs! I think my particular Evita is a little flaky and requires extra voltage to be stable. Hey, I bought it refurbished for $50, so my expectations are low.
I'm very happy with AOKP. I have a Nexus 7 2013 as well, and its very nice to have nearly identical UIs between the two devices.
If only some genius dev could crack in-line headset controls on 3.4 kernels. Maybe we can get a bounty going to speed things up

Really glad you like it. As for the headset controls I can ask around but the devs I know of for this are usually busy with their own roms etc.

Thanks for your post 53l3c7a, I didn't realize that the inline controls didn't work until you mentioned it.
That goes a long way towards explaining a guy standing inside a bus shelter yelling at his expensive headset for not working (this guy)

Been trying different kitkat roms for a while now, but nothinig suits my needs. Guess sense has been spoiling me. Can't help but to like the calendar and clock widgets.
But I will try this out and see how it performs for what I use this phone for. Thank you for your hard work ans look forward to updates

Yes, I've wiped everything but the internal storage. I'm using the latest build and before I had no problems at all switching from dalvik to art. Just recently I've developed problems. Could it be an app, or kernel related? I believe I was using torched latest...

if the question is "the most stable" the answer could be the stock rom... but if you want the fastest or the most smooth or the best themed, then answer could be Miui, SuperAosp or Cyanogen ( in my opinion, of course...)
The man asked for a stable ROM, not lol ones like MIUI which brings a new bug every week and not CM7 nightlies which are rebooting once at 2 hours.
@stevo the most stable ROMs you will find will be inifinity or oxygen, superaosp is good as well but those themes make it look meh...
CM7 reboots...
infin1ty or Oxygen. HTCClay if you want a CM based ROM.

I would not subscribe that.
I have been running MIUI for more than a month and, with the only exception of the Them Manager which had issues in 1.5.27, everything seems to work flawlessly: never experienced a single reboot!

Exactly what I was going to say nearly word for word.
And yes, this is in the wrong section OP
Based on my limited experience, I don't feel the AOSP-based ROMs and kernels are as stable as stock--those random reboots keep happening on my Tmo NS no matter what I do.
The only other ROM that didn't make my fingernails sore from doing battery pulls is MoDaCo, but it hasn't been updated since March.

Have you tried the ones I mentioned? Oxygen or infinity? They are stock ROMs with extra features. I am using oxygen since 3 days and I haven't had a single reboot so far, even overclocked at 1.4GHz and using proton's suggested voltages. Adam's oxygen ROM is the definition of stability my friend.
Zuluzulu has been really stable for me, infini1y to.

MIUI is a wonderful ROM. It has a unique UI and is like a breath of fresh air. It is also rock stable. It does have a slight (very slight) lag for me compared to Oxygen or Infin1ty or SuperCM7. That little issue combined with the fact that in the texting app when you enter a name you just get a list of numbers without differentiating Home from Work from Mobile makes it just a tiny bit short of ready for me to use as a daily.
I'll place a vote for Oxygen; haven't flashed anything else since I installed it a few days back. No reboots or problems of any sort, using Netarchy 1.3.5 bfs universal.

Weapon vs Bionix vs Cyanogen 7.1 Compare your experiences with this 3 roms :)

So I'm pretty new to this just started using custom roms yesterday only tried 2 so far.
now these 3 are the ones that have caught my attention. Currently I'm using bionix 1.4.1 seems good so far , I tried CM 7.1 but I had issues accessing my SD card storage it was either the internal data or the SD wouldn't let me access both.
now at first I just wanted something better than stock rom.. something more stable.. but now that I've gotten the hang of it and seen how easy it is to backup/restore/install a new rom is I kinda want something nice
Now I haven't tried the weapon yet because I see it was last updated 10/22/2011 now I don't know if its because developers simply went with another project orits just as stable as it can be.
I'm looking for opinions and advice on what are the best roms out there and what have you found the best working on your g2x and for what period of time.
With Weapon and Bionix, it all comes down to personal preference since they're both based of 2.3.3... But I prefer Bionic... CM is much faster and had wayyyy more features... I'd go with CM 7.2 RC 1.

So I just gave CM 7.2 another try... my home button ain't working haha trying to find if there is a setting to set it... its weird... if anyone knows anything please let me know this is a bit messed up. I get the vibration that I'm pressing it but it doesn't do anything.
ok nvm that a quick reboot fixed this.. now I am having the same issue I can't acces my sd card once I set it to use my internal storage any ideas?

Everything works great on Weapon, but it had some issues with JuoceDefender, so im using Hellfire now.
Hellfire is pretty solid build too, not that many bugs, I just recommend flashing Trinity if you're gonna use it though.

Well I'm currently trying CM 7.2 at firt boot there where aa few dumb bugs but after I rebooted everything is working great been using it for about 3 hours non stop downloading apps playing games browing just testing and from 100% im at 78% right now .
Only issue I have is that I have to manually enter the directory of my external SD to access it from the file manager it can be used by all aplications though its odd so its a silly thing I can handle
scoring 2100-2400 on quadrant result varies for some reason every time I run it but for now I'm pleased with the CM 7.2 RC1 I might backup this one and check that hellfire one.

Hellfire Phoenix 2.1 is based of CM 7.2.0 RC1,.... and it rocks...
I always liked stock CM the best, because i was always about features and speed, not to much the looks. but hellfire is aw some!
some people try to call hell a baker, or just a themer.. but its not true..
sure he maby he started out that way. but he is fare beyond that now he is making very stable Rom's that look good! he is not taking eaglesblood Roms and making them prettier anymore, he is making his own Roms based off CM source (Phoenix) or directly from google source AOSP( hellfire sandwich 1.5)
so he is now in a class with the other developers that are making and baking their Rom's off other sources just like the other developers, any one that says otherwise obviously doesn't know the whole story.
any way CM is solid, to begin with,
and hell gave it more flavor!
hellfire rocks!

you could be right... i thought the new 1.5 was based of AOSP, but maybe not, or maybe he cherry picked a couple things in there.
i might be getting it confused with the new build for eglsbld, which is deff AOSP..
but aether way its still a solid rom!!!
im still rocking Phoenix 2.1 until Hf's gets more stable.. but from what i can tell its still pretty stable as it is, but im going to wait for another release or two..

Yeah I play with the ics builds until the bugs annoy me enough to send me back to gingerbread.
Its nice having all these options with all the activity in them. Constantly getting new ROMs to flash.
for sure
Well I'm about to install Hellfire phoenix to see how it is since it's based of cm 7.2 wich I'm liking its stability.
if there are any issues with hellfire that have dumb quickfixes or any advice on it let me know
I'm been reading about faux and stuff about kernels are these installed with the rom? or how does all of this work?
I do have stock backup in case something goes wrong with the phone I can return it to warranty.
But yeah I'm a total noob I'm here to learn currently waiting the 10 minutes for the hellfire phoenix.
So far so good I'm loving this Hellfire phoenix no issues with it yet and quadrant scoring 2700 CM7.2 didn't get past 2200 I like the looks on this a lot more hopefully its as stable as CM 7.2 only time will tell but definitively if it is it's a keeper.
Can someone confirm for me if wifi calling really does save battery?
I think it does personally, also I think the kernel you're on is the faux 123 DS driver which gives you weird battery readings but better battery by 2 hours in most cases...

kernel is 2.6.32.56-cm7-faux123-049
I don't really care what I use as long as it doesn't damage my hardware of affect stability. and if better battery that would be nice
phone has been on battery I started with it 100% for 1 hour 7 minutes and it reads 95% battery I've been using it sort of frequently testing different things like camera, video playback, youtube setting how I want it downloading apps, music stuff like that nothing hard on it. but if it's reading it correctly... geez thats insanely good.
And Quadrant scored 2700... lol I was reading some kernels overclock the cpu I'm guessing this one does that? or its just that good? I have no clue I checked and it said 1017mhz so 1ghz witch is stock but I don't know if this throttles down or something like that.. again I'm not experienced at this.

[Q] stable jellybean

is there such a thing out for the ATT skyrocket yet? On CM 9 stable right now and I am depending on my phone for daily use and task but its killing me that I'm not on the jellybean train yet. Is there a stable jellybean ROM out there yet? or at least close to it which I could use daily for now? Thank you.
the best thing to d would be to test yourself because everyone has a opinion doesnt mean youll like test and find out
and to answer your question personally i havent found one that meets stability for my daily driver.. evem though there will be one soon

I've been running R4INS AOKP JB builds for a while and they're stable for the most part. Something to keep in mind about Jelly Bean vs ICS is that ICS has been officially released for the SR, JB has not, therefore JB will never be 100% stable IMO. My advice: give AOKP a shot for a day or two, or even CM10, and see if what YOU need to work works.
R4INS AOKP build can be found here: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/34092-aokp-unofficial-galaxy-s-ii-skyrocket-i727-oct-2-jb-build-4/
The roms are STABLE, but they're still works in progress. You need more patience with the JB Roms because they're working off of more generic code that needs to be customized to work with the Skyrocket. The ICS Roms are specific to the Skyrocket (with a few exceptions) so they are much more refined. I tried a few JB roms because my wife has a Galaxy Nexus and I love how smooth it is, but I keep going back to ICS roms because at the moment they are more refined. If you require more stable roms than what is out there then just wait. The Skyrocket is slated to get a JB update, and once it does and the talented developers here get their hands on it, it'll be worth the wait.

Me too. Still some jank, but overall pretty good builds. Stability is pretty subjective when it comes to basically alpha ROMs.
Its working quite well. No issues to report and if there are they seem to be fixed pretty quickly.

I've found the unofficial liquid smooth RC's to be quite stable, besides the occasional screen flicker. RC3 is the latest and I've only been running it for a day, so I cant vouch for it yet, but the screen flicker seems to have been reduced.
Since several people seem interested in turning this into a "best ROM" thread, I'll just drop this on you, OP:
There is NO stable JB ROM for the Skyrocket, period. Many of the JB ROMs out there are close, some very close, but none of them are 100% stable at this point, and none will be until we get an official leak.
There is no stable ROM for JB, you can't make it happen without official source code. Also, as long as people are tinkering, it won't be stable.

Battery life, etc
Yeah I would agree with everyone here, there is no stable ROM, I was running paranoid for a week or so, it ran good but I found myself plugging in my phone all the time. Following the threads closely you will see everyone has different problems with each ROM. Some more then others. I found it stable enough for daily use but as a developer I am probably more tolerable to quirks than most.
i found that the poor battery life seems to be due to the phone never entering deep sleep mode, which is somehow triggered when charging your phone. if i reboot my phone after recharging it, the battery lasts nearly as long as on ICS.
use CPU spy to check if your phone is entering deepsleep mode.
Cm10 just release their nightlies build the other day. I'm running it now without anything wrong. Just sluggish at time and the screen off animation works when it wants to but other than that its solid. Give it a shot

is there such a thing out for the ATT skyrocket yet? On CM 9 stable right now and I am depending on my phone for daily use and task but its killing me that I'm not on the jellybean train yet. Is there a stable jellybean ROM out there yet? or at least close to it which I could use daily for now? Thank you.

I've found the last build of Sky JellyBean to be as stable and fast as Sky-ICS.

Project butter
Are any of the JB roms out there for the skyrocket... uh... doing project butter? Have it implemented? I'm most curious about that feature.
A quick google search failed to get me anything relevant to my question.

Any ROM in the development section that has 4.1.1, JB, CM10, AOKP JB... actually I see like 6-8 different ROMs that are compiled from a JB source, one of the main features of jelly bean is project butter and its just giving the UI a fast transition and if you played with CM10/AOKP JB for a few days then go back to CM9 you will notice the speed difference. Project butter just makes everything snappier and quick to response which is most likely in every JB rom.

i use sky T-1000 as my daily driver. i keep a nandroid of sky-ICS by the same dev. Sean is hella talented.

Support
We spend an astonishing amount of time developing this software. We can't spend much time on XDA as a result, so if you need support, please try the following:
1) Search. Search, search, search. Yes, you. I don't care how unique or important your question is, it's very likely someone has adressed it already. Especially if you're even close to new at this.
2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our goo.im page linked above. It's new, but expanding fast. Just like us!
3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. See step 1 - such are the perils of asking questions when you haven't done the research yourself. Android is about helping yourself.
4) Ask a question on our IRC channel. Connect to #teamcarbon on irc.freenode.net or click here. You'll find several other Carbon fans and usually one or more devs as well. Please be polite.

yeah!!
WOOT, great to see this thread here Already ran it for about an hour - packed with some really nice features and the dark UI toggle is badass (as in SlimBean)
Found my new rom! hahaha I have been eyeing for discussion thread for tilapia build. I know Carbon is available for tilapia for quite some time now. But what turn me off is the fact that there is no thread for it.
I have to ask one question though. Does PA hybrid properties included as a feature of this rom? I bought PA pref pro key so it would be cool if this rom got it. But the answer won't change my mind about trying this rom haha.
Never mind. I got the answer to my question. Charging my battery till full now..
Finally an official thread for tilapia.thanks

Wi-Fi is ok with my nexus 7.
The only problem I have yesterday was difficulty to select anything at the bottom part of the screen. Later I found out that the pie control trigger area is set too big so I reduced the trigger area. That problem is fixed shortly after that. Other than that no issue. I will go out to my university now, I'll see if 3G work perfectly or not.

Yes I can confirm. 3G works wonderfully.
This is fabulous! Have been using Carbon on my VZ SGS3 for months now, on the nightlies. Love the HALO.
Is HALO incoorporated into the tilapia version also? And can one flash over CM10.1 without a data wipe? Maybe just a system/cache/dalvik wipe?

Halo is in all the nightlies for all devices. I would HIGHLY recommend a full wipe (factory reset, system, cache, dalvik, data) when switching from another rom, even CM.

[Q] Move to 4.2.2=> Performance?

On my Galaxy S III, I upgraded to 4.2.2, and realized much greater performance, and battery life.
I am quite tired of the quite slow performance on this TF101, and am curious if I will notice much better performance if I go to one of the 4.2.2 ROMs for this.
At the moment, I am on Revolution 3.6.
It's a shame that the forum doesn't have a search function where you could look at other people's results when they've moved to a 4.2.2 ROM.

Now, don't you feel so much better, now that you were able to once again pound your chest and complain about someone possibly not searching. Conagrats to you.
I've read quite a few posts (I'll admit not the whole thread) in a couple 422 threads, and most of what there is people asking qustions about isssues they have etc.
You couuld have probably spent fewer words actually helping someone. I suppose you expect that someone with my post count does nothing but ask dumb questions and never searches.

The other guy didn't mean for you to MANUALLY search... but rather, use the search tool:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/sitesearch.php?q=tf101 4.2.2 faster
Returns a forum topic that discusses this very thing.
It's not like people are unfamiliar with search engines these days... so if you see people surprised/frustrated that they're not used more often, that would explain the first response to your original post.
At any rate, I personally use KatKiss (build 200) having started with EOS back in build 90 or so... and it's meant I've sadly had to hold off on buying a replacement to my TF101 because it performs nearly as well as newer hardware...

I'm sure that is the case. But making smart, sarcastic remarks to people is of no help to anyone. I too find posts that are easily found with search. But I don't wise off. I either ignore it altogether with no answer, or answer it, and then suggest searches in a friencly way,as you did. Much more community friendly, as I find you are, and appreciation is a result instead of anger.
Actually, I find that Google searches, outside of the XDA search, are much better.

I looked at your search. It returned much of what I had looked at, many of which compare various 4.2.2 ROMS. I am interested in knowing if 422 really is appreciably faster than stock. Or, if the tablet is just too low powered, and should be looking for new hardware.

Great. That is what I was interested in hearing. I appreciate your answering the question. I guess I'll give it a go.
I see you are new...at least with a new ID. I had the honor of giving you your first Thanks on the Thanks Meter
I too am using KatKiss 220 just recently. Believe me, once you're running it you'll be surprised on what you're missing compared to stock. You'd usually think it would be underpowered by getting 4.2.2 but the devs made a great job in tailoring these custom ROMS to the TF101. On KatKiss 220, everything felt much smoother, speakers are louder, and you get ton's of added customizations and boost options

Hi! Did you mange to install 4.2.2? How's the performance?
Even I am on ARHD 3.6 and want to move to 4.2.2 ROM.
I've tried both CM No-Name nightlies and Team EOS 4 ROMs but switched back to ARHD ROM primarily because the performance wasn't 'butter' smooth and the sound was very low compared to ICS ROMs..
There is a KAT App for fixing the sound, and it works quite well too; but I faced this nagging problem after using that KAT App to increase the sound that whenever I was trying to decrease the sound, it was automatically switching back to full sound.
Would like to know your experience with this ROM? Is this ROM is any better? And whether the sound is as good as.. or comparable to what it is on ICS ROMs.

I moved from stock to TeamEOS about 6 months ago now, have now progressed to Katkiss 221.
The improvement has been immense, my TF101 runs pretty much as quickly as my wife's Nexus 7.
My advice would be to go for it.

I installed it last night. Have not had much time to play with it. But initial observation is that it appears to be much faster. After the initial test (only launching Chrome and a small bit of browsing), I upped the CPU Max to 1200. Haven't had any time since.
But, I'm thinking it was worth the effort.
What about the sound?

Okay! Now you've got me curious. I'll download the ROM tonight and give it a spin.
What about the sound? Is it loud enough? Umm.. as good as in ARHD /stock ICS?
I'm emphasizing on sound coz I use the tablet to play music almost all the time and it is a make or break factor for me
Thanks for the suggestion, I'll surely try this ROM

Using KAT Android toolbox to boost the volume it's plenty loud enough for me (but I'm getting old...)
Now up to KatKiss 223 - feels lightning fast even without overclocking
Moved to KatKiss few days ago and its a HUGE difference from stock ROM, even moving from moded 4.0.3 is a big difference.
