I have decided to stick with 4.1.2 and am currently rooted with an unlocked bootloader.
Is there a way to keep the phone from constantly checking software status and giving me the notification to upgrade (install now or install later screen)?
I went ahead and downloaded and had it "install now", knowing it was going to fail, in hopes it would stop checking after failing initially. No go as it keeps going to the install selection screen after a certain period.
I am assuming there is probably something I could "freeze" in TiBu to stop the phone from constantly checking software status, but am not sure which one and if freezing it will violate the law of "unintended consequences" (ie if that app is critical in other phone operations).
Just want to get rid of the "reset" I have to do every time I get the notification.

STOP OTA UPDATE NOTIFICATION
If the OTA already downloaded, delete it here /cache/fota
To disable the OTA:
Rename or freeze the apps with Titanium backup:
otacerts.zip located in /etc/security - rename to otacerts.zip.bak
Rename fwupdate.odex, fwupdate.apk located in /system/app
and freeze SDM1.0 located in /system/app
Trouble locating the directories/files to rename.

I was able to locate this and freeze it in Titanium, however, I was unable to locate the other files on Titanium or directory locations you specified when browsing through the phone's file manager or through my computer (connected to the phone.)
I also could not locate the /cache/fota directory to delete the software download. In the phone's file directory, I did make sure all options were selected (to show hidden directories). What am I missing?

Disregard my previous post on the fwupdate.odex/.apk files. Realized I needed to add .bak to all the files you specified.
All steps completed and thank you for your assistance! Just needed to get the rootexplorer to locate the directories. (one note, I am pretty sure the update package did get downloaded, however I did not see a file in the "fota" directory.) Not too concerned as all other steps completed.

TB only can see SDM1.0, if the OTA did not download to your phone you won't see anything under /cache/fota so this is normal. The rest you need to use some root browser app like root explorer or ES file explore to find them and just rename by adding a .bak at the end, example: otacerts.zip, fwupgrade.odex,fwupgrade.apk rename them to otacerts.zip.bak, fwupgrade.odex.bak,fwupgrade.apk.bak.

I know it did download, but wondering if it automatically got "trashed" once the install failed. Although, when the "install now" notification came up, it went to recovery for the install instead of initiating a download. No big deal since I got all other steps taken care of.

In older versions of prime, I used to be able to use root explorer to remove applications from /system/app, and they would disappear from the tray. Lately, when I try to delete them using root explorer, they disappear when I hit delete, but they are still in the menu, and still fully functional.
I really despise having facebook on here (they just added it to the rom), and the other bloat that came with it, but not can't seem to remove it. Anyone know how?

Have you tried using Titanium Backup to uninstall the app after you have removed it from the system/app folder?

It appeared to work using Titanium. Does this mean it may be a root explorer bug? I guess I'll try downgrading to an older version of RE. I am not a big fan of titanium.
Tried a known working version of root explorer with no luck. I guess something changed in the rom or superuser which is preventing it from working properly.

If you remove the app from /system/app also delete the associated dalvik executable file from /data/dalvik-cache. This should kill the app.

I tried deleting the executable file as well, but still no luck.
Turns out it seems to be more than just the apps, I tried removing the bootanimation from /system/media with no luck. It's like I don't have r/w access.

This is probably a stupid question but did you make sure the folder was Mounted to R/W (and checking it sayds R/W at the top) via the button at the top of Root Explorer before attempting to delete the file?

It's ok, thanks for trying to help. Root explorer pops up a message if you try to delete something in R/O mode saying "... cannot be deleted because the file system is read-only."
It also seems to be working now, no idea why. Maybe a reboot did the trick. The files I remove from /system/app are now disappearing from the menu.
Still unsure on the boot animation though, is that still stored in /system/media/bootanimation.zip?

Yes but if you're on Prime 2.0.3, there's one in data/local
Anything bootanimation in data/local will over ride the one in system/media.

Yes it is.
If you copy your new bootanimation.zip file to /data/local then it will look for it there first (before looking in system/media) and load up the new file. Tested it and it works fine using Root Explorer to copy the file across but just make sure the file is made specifically for the Transformer.

Once done put the file (com.asus.dm.apk) in the platform-tools folder

The file com.asus.dm.apk is already on system/app but the application DMClient doesn't appear ine the Application list
Try this, not sure if it will work or not.
Navigate to where you have the app (system/app in this case)
long press on it to bring up the menu
choose "permission" and set to rw,r,r if not already set to that
now tap on it again to install the app
also when you say it's not showing up in Application list.
Are you refering to the app drawer? Cause it will not show up there.
You can find it in Settings>Applications>Manage application>All (if it's installed correctly)
I'm rooted. I have uninstalled it with UltimateBackup.
DMClient is (was) a ROM application.
I have tried to restaure it with Titanium Backup, then with Ultimate Backup without success (the restore process begin but never end).
I'm very dispointed because without this application, i can't access to OTA Firmware updates.

Flashing with a new firmware seems to be an heavy solution for only one file missing.

The new update is 4.5.629. It goes from Gingerbread 2.3.3 to Gingerbread 2.3.4, so a slight update. There are a few bug fixes, but it has a number of undesirable things.
1) 4.5.629 is currently not rootable
2) You cannot simply return to an earlier version via SBF.
You can overcome the first by using Voodoo Rootkeeper or similar to root on your current version, back up root with Rootkeeper and then update.
Recently, a method was found for this release to unbrick phones damaged by attempts to SBF or from bad ROMs: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/23207-how-to-sbf-unbricking-root-d2g-629 This also allows users who did upgrade to 4.5.629 to return to the previous version, root there and then upgrade again.
So it is sort of safe, but not ideal. The changelog is here, decide if the bug fixes are important enough for the added inconvenience

You can block the update by renaming these files (e.g., append ".bak" to each filename):
/system/app/BlurUpdater_VZW.apk
/system/app/BlurUpdater_VZW.odex
Since these are in /system, renaming them requires root privileges and a root-enabled file manager (such as Root Browser Lite, available in the Google Play store).

Renaming those files will disable the OTA update client completely. You can still manually install an update by rebooting into recovery, but you will first have to download the update file from another source, rename it to "update.zip", and place it in the root level of your SD card.
Of course, you can also change those files back to their original names to re-enable OTA updates at any time.

the app that u suggested me,root browser lite and my phone was rooted and also have been granted superuser's permissions..

Root Explorer has a button for that.
“adb remount” when connected to a PC with USB debugging enabled will do that as well.
It's also possible to do from the terminal emulator, however I don't remember the exact command.
i can't find that button,by long pressing the file/folder or what?
It looks like this app defaults to RW once it gets superuser permission (GY was referring to Root Explorer, a different app). How about copying a system file, does that work?

I still rename my bloat, I know, you probably see this as lame, but maybe someone has the answer anyway.
In system/app, the Motorola Migrate apk (fswriter.apk) can be renamed using root and Root Explorer, but after a minute or so, or a reboot, the apk returns to the original name (I usually add .old to the end). Just about all of the other apks I rename in that folder retain .old in the name even after a reboot. The entire contents of system/vendor/app does this. I can rename the apks, refresh and see they are still renamed, and then a minute later, or a reboot later, they drop the .old or .delete extension.
For now, I disabled the ones that appear in the app drawer, but maybe someone who is curious enough knows the answer.

are you rebooting into R/W mode aka recovery mode? For this line of Droids, after rooting, in order for you remove or change anything within the system you need to reboot into "recovery" and i use the quotations is because in all androids in the past (at least the ones i have had) recovery is TWRP or CWM but with our phones recovery is the OS but the OS is R/W...so make sure you are rooted and then you can either use an app like Rom Toolbox for example, use the rebooter option within and in that menu select Reboot Recovery, it'll reboot into the OS but rewritable once you are booted that way you can add and remove system apps as well as make any name changes to the system files and whatnot...hope this helps
Holo reboot in play store works great for rebooting into recovery or just a normal reboot!

I also tried factory resetting it. Any ideas on how to get it to work again? Whenever I try to enable bluetooth I get the "Bluetooth share has stopped working" error.

Do you mean you uninstalled one of the Bluetooth apps in System > Advanced Settings > Apps > All?
If so, please use some sort of root explorer app (you have to be rooted first) to navigate to either /system/app/Bluetooth or /system/priv-app/Amigo_Bluetooth and install whichever .apk that appears to be not installed. I believe this should fix your issue.

Alright so the .apk file is missing from system/apps/Bluetooth. The one in amigo_bluetooth is still there

I've uploaded my /system/app/Bluetooth folder here. Could you please download that, extract the folder inside to somewhere, and either:
Push the folder via adb using the command adb push Bluetooth /system/app/ while your command prompt/terminal is in the same directory where you extracted the "Bluetooth" folder (cd DRIVE:\your\directory\path\Bluetooth (Windows) or ~/your/directory/path/Bluetooth (Linux) ).
or
Transfer the extracted "Bluetooth" folder to either your microSD or a USB Drive, plug it into your phone and move the folder to /system/apps using your root file explorer app.
Finally, install the Bluetooth.apk inside (which I'm assuming is the one you uninstalled since it is missing).

Can you check again? Make sure you go to your system folder from your phone's root directory. It should contain almost all of the default apps installed on your phone when it came out of the box (with the rest of it being in priv-apps).
I have the exact same problem as the OP - I tried downloading the said file but my phone says the file is corrupt - can someone please send an updated version?

Bluetooth got erased because the system detected that the app was sending sms by itself (or so it said) and thus deleted it. I have the same problem as the one above, the file seems to be corrupt and can't install the .apk
Please, if there is another way to solve this say so.

I have the same problem as above, my phone detected the SMS permission and said it might cost you money and recommend an uninstall. I never realised I would be able to uninstall Bluetooth without being rooted but it did it anyway - maybe it's an android bug?
Anyway, I tried downloading your Bluetooth.apk and reinstalling but it said file corrupt.
Any help would be much appreciated! Sounds like this is a bug that's been going around...

Hey, I had a look elsewhere and found a forum on the Lenovo website (can't post link here), hopefully this will work for you too.
Basically you want to go to Settings>Apps>Reset app settings and that'll do the trick.
