I own an inew V3 mobile phone and the battery drains so fast it cannot get not even 12 hours moderate use, I have read same problems happens in different models with the same soc (haipai P6, Jiake 10), the models have a hd 1280*720 resolution screen, don't know if the same thing happens with QHD models that use a different soc.
So I post it here to find if this is a common problem of the soc, ammendable with software, or should we conclude that this soc is useless for mobile phones at all.

I'm also using iNew v3. Battery drains too fast. Also Battery stops charging at around 87% level & then suddenly it reaches at 100%! Also youtube doesn't play smoothly.

I read in other threads that battery drains mostly by cell standby on all MTK6582 Roms.
Could you try as a test to disable 3G (only use 2G).
Alternatively you could try to install Auto 3G Battery Saver https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.slv3r.auto3g&hl=en
Could you report back the results? How much longer does your battery hold?

I already tried disabling 3g for a full day with the same results, I cannot do any more testing as I sold the phone, I am waiting now for a thl w200s with mtk6592 soc.

Hi people, I searched though quite a few threads and couldn't actually find an exact answer.It also can be a general question for any device.
I have a Micromax A89-good handset for its price only problem is the battery - it wouldn't last much (i'd say 3/4 a day normal use-1450mAh).
My question is what are the subtleties involved in powering such a device with more powerful batteries like a 2600 mAh battery (approx same size). Will it just work fine, giving better battery power to the device. Or whole lot of things come into play? like software and everything or the Soc itself which is made to work within certain range (this one doesn't for your knowledge -same Soc is present on a higher end device a110 with 2100 mAh battery).
Or it may damage or brick your device or may be heating problems occur, there are lots of factors.
So if i can find a similar battery that could fit in - no matter how powerful it is 5000mAh or whatever- do i get approx 3x battery life? or it cant be done?
and making it a more concrete i'd love to get battery suggestions for A89.

Lenovo s660 - runs 4.2.2 - 4.7" , 1/8GB, 6582 quad core, battery capacity 3000mah
lenovo a806 - runs 4.4.2 - 5", 2/16GB , 6592 octacore ,battery capacity 2500 mah
both of the owners are saying that the battery drains really fast even in save mode and in really basic use (some browsing, whatsup, calls without games or heavy use etc) which is not reasonable - i ordered it because of the battery capacity and the quality of lenovo.
Do you have any idea what could be the solution ?

For me quite a big difference is if I'm using both sims or just one. Now when I'm on one I'm at 53% and have already 11d nad 14hrs. I use a Wifi a lot, but I don't play games at all. Mostly browser, RSS reading, email, viber a phone calls.
The other thing is that when I got the other day to 35% the battery got to 2% in a matter of two hours. So I guess it's not showing very acurate percentage...

It comes down to preference really as I dont really like phones bigger than 5" and xiaomi is quite established. Its got the right size, ir blaster and a good SOC which should get good rom support, cm12.1 already available
Where are you based? The Global version of the Zenphone 2 has band 20 which the Mi 4c doesn't have (may be able to be unlocked manually but I'm doubtful). The Zenphone also has expandable storage which the Mi 4c lacks - you may already be used to this and the larger form factor due to currently using the G3. That said, I've heard (but cannot personally verify) that the Zenphone has erratic battery life and performance in addition to being more expensive than the Mi 4c.

Well, my Mi4C had battery drain. Around 3%/hour on idle with WiFi and 4G all off, so when I woke up a third of my battery was already gone. I ended up fixing it by flashing the international ROM but after that, I've been getting 5 hours of SoT which is great. Can't comment on the battery of the Zenfone.
Regarding the battery problem:
Looks like it could different between your's to anyone else.
I read a review in a site in my country and the person who made the review praise the battery life.

My Mi4c has very good battery life. The same like the z1 compact i had. Other phones i had i charged sometimes more than 2 times a day.
The zenfone 2 has worse battery life, build quality and performance. If you don't mind the SD card and 5" screen then the Mi4C is your phone. Zenfone 3 could be very interesting when (should be kinda soonTM) it gets released though!

How abt Redmi note 3?
No battery issue with my Mi4C. Left it idle for most part of the day with cellular and Wi-Fi connected the whole time and managed 0.7% / hour idle time. I also have many apps installed (not facebook or any messaging apps though). It's rooted and greenified, running original stable Chinese Miui 7 Rom with some Chinese bloat apps removed. It's also scoring 52K on antutu 6.

Processing power wise, ZenFone 2 (the high end 32 GB internal memory with 4 GB RAM model) is comparable to Mi4C, the GPU is even slightly better. However, when it comes to video recording, ZenFone is waaaaay below Mi4C. The still image, if you use latest firmware, is already fixed though. Note that due to the use of Intel processor, some apps that use native libraries might not be installable. Ensure your apps are architecture-neutral or have both arm and intel version available.
OTOH, Mi4C has thermal issues and I still can't find the best thermal configuration so far. This causes the cores, both CPU and GPU, get shutted down or their upper limit is decreased to lower down the temperature. I break this limit by changing the limit a little bit higher, but if you play games while charging the phone, my best record reaches 90° C. Hot enough for a sleep killer tea

Having owned both phones i can say the Zen2 is a dud. The screen is dim, the speaker is weak, some apps drain crazy battery as they are using an ARM emulator to run on x86. It wobbles on the desk and the battery dies after your lunch break. The camera has low exposure that makes everything look darker than it is. The Mi4c just works like you expect a flagship to do.

I dont believe in 90° C unless your phone is borked and termal throttling doesnt work, also phone would shut down anyway with that temperature.

It is, well the screenshot I have is 87 actually in one of the many thermal zone (they're all varying from 60 or so) but during that time I did see and feel 90 (as a hot tea drinker, I know how hot is 90). Thankfully I have a flip cover that absorbs the heat, but if you touch the scree, it's really damn hot. Thermal throttling doesn't work on my device, because I've disabled the thermal driver :cyclops:
I don't really know the actual upper limit, but I guess it should be around 100-120. My PC was 120, but I don't think smartphone's SoC will differ much.

Hahaha, worry not, it's been back to normal temp (30-50). The problem only happens if you play resource intensive games while charging.
My last phone Mi4i also reached ~90°C after playing with the thermal engine. The flashlight turned on in the pocket of my pants and burned for half an hour. I just noticed it because my leg got hotter and hotter luckily the phone wasnt damaged through this. Also, i think the CPU can handle these temperatures without being damaged, but i would worry about other phone components such as SD Card, battery or glued components

OK, I have an att galaxy s7 g930a rooted phone. If imy out and about and not by an outlet, my battery is dead by around 6 pm. I'm not really a power user.
Immediately looking at better battery stats which it says since boot, system used 24%, and next is wake lock 6%, then kk launcher at 4%.
For battery optimization, I keep the phone in power saver mode. I also have juice defender ultimate and I run it in balanced mode. I have the setting unselected so the phone does not sync constantly for new emails etc.
I have power toggles and turn off GPS, mobile data, and WiFi when I'm not using it knowing all these transmitters drain the battery. And yet I can't get over 12 hours on a charge.
Try checking the cable n charger see if they are stock charger ..sometimes quick charge doesnt charge the battery properly ...u might need to replace battery if they r good
The battery on an s7 is built in.... not replacable.
It is replaceable u need to a good technician to open up the back using blow dryer type device n then swap the battery its pretty easy

What screen on time are you getting? What mobile network setting are you using/network are you on? 3G or 4G, if you're on a 3G network make sure it's set to 2G/3G in settings. Try installing gsam battery stats to see if you can identify anything unusual or something that's causing a drain.

I tend to agree with you. I've recently gone through seven S7's... I've exchanged the previous ones and am currently on my eighth device. Among these phones, it was only the international unlocked variant (SM-G930F) and the US unlocked variant (SM-G930U) that showed rather impressive battery life. I was often able to get 1.5 to 2 days of run time on a single charge from each of those models. The 930F was even better battery-wise than the 930U's, which weren't bad at all. Conversely, the batteries in the carrier variants that I've tried have seemed to deplete far too rapidly - similar to the situation you've described with your phone. My current S7 is an SM-G930P (Sprint variant) and its battery seems to last half as long (or less) than the unlocked S7 variants I've used.
The most generally disturbing thing for me about the GS7 is that there has been one or more significantly undesirable issues that seem exclusive to and inherently present among each of the model variant categories. At least this has appeared the case based upon the S7's that I've personally tested. For me, it seems there is no variant model of this device that's without seriously objectionable issues. However, finding some way to make the carrier-variant batteries last significantly longer would go a long way toward making other said issues more tolerable.
You could try greenify if you got xposed installed. There is another module too, but the name escapes me right now.

From what i've read the root method using eng boot for snapdragon phones makes the cpu run at the highest frequency, so yes the battery life will suffer.

Hmm, so the rooting method for the SD820 equipped S7's effectively overclocks the CPU? Perhaps it changes the multiplier?
The 4 cores on my unrooted SD820 equipped S7's have always idled at 307 MHz, and then spiked up as needed. Do the rooted SD820 equipped S7's idle at a higher clock speed? Or do they simply have a higher maximum clock speed - i.e., beyond 2.15 GHz? Either way, I can see how that would suck the battery down noticeably quicker.

It has to do with the governor, its apparently set to performance rather than interactive. Check what yours is set to, cpuid app can show you that.

Ah, that would be the CPU auto-scaling mechanism, if I'm not mistaken. I think mine's obviously set to interactive since the cores idle at 307 MHz. I'm guessing that if scaling were set to performance mode the cores would be running at full speed instead. And yes, that would drain the battery far quicker! And I sure DON'T need this 930P to drain its battery more rapidly than it already does. I'm currently playing with the debloater app to see if I can make some improvements tha way.

Since I have not yet had a precise idea about the battery life of this S10E, I would like a comparison between my current smartphone and the S10E.
If for example with my current smartphone (Galaxy S5 Mini, stock rom and battery replaced about 3 years ago) with the use I make I arrive at night when I go to sleep with about 15% of battery, in my case with S10E how much will the battery percentage be compared to the S5 mini?

I'm assuming the baterry is 2,100 mAh, the s10e has 3,100 a better processor and a better overall OS and UI.. it handles battery drain better afaik.
You should see very good improvements in battery life going with the s10e..

In all honesty, I came from an LG G6 to the S10e (Snapdragon version), and I'm getting better battery life, even though the G6 had a larger 3300 mAh battery. You should almost certainly see a decent improvement coming from an S5.

I hope, because I would like to buy an european S10E with a Exynos CPU. The battery drain problems is related to Exynos models, not to Snapdragon.
I would not compare a low priced/featured SoC (S5 mini) with a highest end Soc (S10e). A more featured SoC will always drain more power, because it has more components that must be powered. Better compare the energy efficiency of the same SoC from different smartphone manufacturers.
As far as I can say yet after a week, the power drain of the S10e is OK. This means: I expect that with more apps the power drain will raise. If the phone lasts for a day, or if i have to power it in the late evening/night, this is OK.
My last daily driver phone was a Xiaomi Note 5 which broke accidently. That thing gave me power for 2-3 day heavy usage. With an Snapdragon 636, an ernergy efficient mid-class SoC with a 4000mAh battery, the experience was superb. But with lack of many phone features like good camera, NFC, ....
Nevertheless I decided to switch to an higher end daily driver because of the features and overall better possibilies the S10e can give me. If the battery will not last for the whole day i will sell it. I also will buy a backup phone like the Xiaomi Note 7 soon for navigation and for traveling.
