Microsoft Lync 2013 - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm trying to get Lync to work on my phone but every time I enter my information it says Can't sign you in. Please try again. I also can't find much information about the app working on our phones. Does lync work on our phones?

Yes and no. I find my data arrows going up and down constantly and the moment they stop doing that, it starts showing contacts as "presence unknown" and if you're typing a message to them at the time, I find the moment they go "presence unknown" my keyboard retracts. This can happen multiple times during a single message or sometimes it will be stable but im finding it very frustrating

That doesn't sound good at all. I noticed your location is the UK and the app says it might not work depending on your location. I'm in US and maybe that's why I'm having issues.

Got it, I'm on the same thing. My IT team can't figure out why we can't connect.

Should just work. All my settings are default (including auto detect server). Just entered e-mail and password. I know Lync hasn't always signed in. I only just tried it again recently - and that is since our Wave 15 upgrade, which we did several months ago. I assume all tenants are on Wave 15 now though.
I know that one of my colleagues can't get lync working on one of his iOS devices either.
And even when it works, it's flaky. Since it's dropping out all the time, I'm concerned messages I am supposed to be receiving actual end up going to my computer.

If your corporate Lync server has self sign certificate, you should install the certificate first.

need answering machine with these feutures

Hi guys
Please help me
I searched all of the internet and forums but found nothing
I think this is the deficit of android
I need an answering machine with these feuturea :
1 - worked offline
2 - when someone call me , after 2 ringing , it plays a recorded voice of me for example " the person can not answer now , please leave your message after the beep"
Then it record the voice of that person and when i came back , it plays the recorded in speaker
3 - the 2nd process can be play in speaker just like the phones in our home
Offline? How would that work? What do you mean? No connection?

Google Voice maybe? You'll just have to program it to pick up after 2 rings vs the standard 30 seconds in the USA.
There is also AT&T/T-Mobile Visual Voicemail apps as well. For that it would need to be about 10 seconds (2 rings). There's a GSM code you type to specify how long to ring before forwarding the call to voicemail:
http://optus.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/171
Should be similar to that
Thanks my friend but all of your suggestions is for online use.
Offline means i am in work and someone call me and i can not answer him.there is no internet there.
both of you my friends suggest me the voicemail but it worked online only
I live in iran
I don't think 3rd party services will be able to notify you without data connection.

Can you give an example of something that does do what you require? It may help in working out exactly what you are asking for and the other OS' that manage it.

Thanks my friends to pay attention to me.
We have this in our home's telephone
When we want to leave the home , we enable it
Then when someone call to our home(call to our telephone number) after 8 seconds , automatically a recorded voice answer to the person that is calling and say to him thay after hearing the beep , insert your message.
When we come back home , we can see who and when call to our phone and what he said
For example like the application below in market :
But it does not work for all of the features in my first post.
And i want work with android 4.4
Does your service provider offer voicemail feature? If "No", I don't think you can do what you are asking for (when your phone is offline)
OK. So you have a land line phone and a separate answer machine. There is nothing for mobile phones that works in the same way. Unless, as pointed out above, your service provider has a voicemail then you'll have difficulty getting what you're asking. To be fair, this is not an android deficit more a mobile telephony deficit.

Thanks all of my friends but if you remember , in symbian we had some softwares to do exactlly what i am saying
Ahh i think i get what he means now.
Basically have the phone automatically answer the call and record it on the device itself then hangup. This is what he means by "offline".
If your phone is on you can get apps that can do what you ask. Have you searched play store for answering machine. I had a number of symbian phones but don't remember it doing what you asked.

No, by offline he means voice only. No data connection. Most apps will give a service that takes the message on a server a send it using data to the phone (even notifications need data)... he just wants an app that will answer the call on the phone itself and record the message....

JUST got a Nexus 5....question about SMS

So I just picked up my Nexus 5 yesterday. Absolutely in love with this phone. The weight, size, display, speed, LTE network, etc.. everything is awesome. I do have a question about the SMS though. My device came with google hangouts as the stock SMS application. I downloaded a kitkat modified sms from the playstore and I was simply not a fan of the look. What are you guys using for your default sms application? Keep in mind I'm stock ROM and not rooted (won't root for a few weeks, simply no need to right now).
I've tried some apps, but in my opinion, the one that fits better for me is Handcent SMS.
It includes lots of options, but the part of the SMS is very simple and intuitive
using hangouts
I use sliding messaging personally... though there are many other good options available 8sms, ninja sms, gosms...

WOW, quick replies...I'm not use to such a populated forum coming from the LG G2X lol. Appreciate the input guys, I'll check some of those options out!
Lightweight SMS solution for me was textra

Will do, I apologize.
What are you guys using for quick replying? The only app that I know that has it is TextNow, and it's not really accurate (ie: if someone else texts me, my current convo will show up in quick reply and they will get my response to a new convo) nor uses my real number.
Textra is more of a stock pre 4.4 sms look but its fully customizable so im sure you can make it look the way you want
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.textra&hl=en_GB
Hangouts does the job for me. Seeing as I delete an SMS after reading it I don't need anything else
8sms here, and it has quick reply option that works well.

[REQUEST] turn all toasts into the New kit kat rounded ones

Has anyone found a way of doing this with art?
There's a module for the Xposed Framework that does that, Kitkat Toast Backport.

This says if I already have kit kat I don't need this. What I'm looking for is how to replace the volume bar with a kit kat toast
After posting my answer I was wondering why you wouldn't have KitKat-styled toasts when posting in the Nexus 5 forum, but it seems I misunderstood your request.
Yes, when you're already on 4.4 or above you don't need that module and I unfortunately don't know of any way to change the look of the volume popup.
There's a difference between toasts and pop-ups. Some pop-ups (eg android is upgrading / starting apps) use the default ics style pop-ups.
Maybe op can clarify

Yeah but it'll be a lot of effort. Look for patch 9.images in /system/framework-res.apk/res/drawable* folders for anything starting "popup_"
It's not just a case of swapping images though. Patch 9 images are scalable. So they need to be modified like this:

I'm so sorry, i've been an idiot and misled you. Obviously toasts are scalable too, ergo already patch 9.
If you're a windows user, you can just open the apk (not extract) in winrar and drag the toasts out (from same drawables folders), rename them to the same as the pop ups.... delete the pop ups and drag the renamed images back with no compression (store).
Takes time as you have to check all drawable folders and make the change... but easy enough
You only need to follow the link if you're replacing with your own custom images, not if you're using existing ones (so long as the existing ones are patch 9)

So you're telling me I just replace the background of the volume pop-up with the image that gets displayed with the toasts? Btw you are one helpful sob
Essentially yes.
Drag out everything starting with "popup" and "toast".
Compare the images and rename the toasts you want to the name of the pop-ups and replace
You may need to swap the spinner too.

[SOLVED] Quick toggles showing Wifi data uploading once a second?

I just noticed that something is uploading data over wifi about once a second. When I pull down the quick toggles, the wifi icon shows an up arrow blinking about once a second, which should mean that data is uploading. Is anyone else seeing this? I'm also wondering how I can figure out what is causing this?
I'm stock/rooted. I currently have xposed and gravitybox installed, but I checked with them uninstalled and the same thing was happening. I tried killing off all running apps while checking after each. Google Play services, of course, pops right back up in running apps. This doesn't seem to happen when I'm on a mobile network. Is there an app or anything else I can do to see what is using wifi?
Thanks!
Edit: Also forgot to mention that my N7(13) is doing the same thing, which leads me to believe that it's either an app I'm using or we are all seeing this.
Edit2: SOLVED - Installed 'Traffic Monitor' and it showed 'Yatse' an XBMC remote app as the culprit. There were no other signs that this app was running in the background.
It's hard to say. Aren't there apps to monitor this?
Could even be things like dhcp leases on the router. Happens on mobile data? Other wifi networks?

Is the ip address an external one? Check using "netstat" command in terminal emulator
It doesn't mean data is being used.

I think I figured it out! I checked the Play Store for a 'wifi monitor' and downloaded 'Traffic Monitor'. It was showing that Yatse, an XBMC remote app, was using wifi even though it wasn't in running apps. I uninstalled and things seem to be back to normal.
Thanks for your help! I should have known to check for an app like this first. I appreciate you throwing the idea out there. (edit: and taking your time to help me!)

Firefox Configuration Help

I've been using Firefox as my browser for a long time now. All of a sudden, it is refusing to connect to certain websites that I visit regularly. I get a warning screen that reads, "This Connection is Untrusted."
In the reading that I've done on this, it looks like Firefox now looks to see if there is an https:// in front of the URL. If not, or if there is mixed content, it returns this warning. Sometimes the screen allows you to click a link at the bottom that reads "I understand the risks" and then you can setup a permanent exception to the rules and visit the site without any issue. Other times, they don't give you the option. When that happens there doesn't appear to be any way to get the site to load.
Does anyone know how to turn these warning off? I've looked in about:config, but I haven't found a setting.
