Hello
I'd think you'd want to
1. start with the ADK
2. have an android phone
3. become an active member on the site
4. have some great ideas
5. make friends with some of the already established developers
Good luck with your endeavours.

[Completed] [Q] Amicroe TouchTab S

I am wanting to port the latest cyanogenmod to my tablet the 'Amicroe tts' see picture for specs (the pictures what i could find in the book). What I am wanting to know before starting this project I am wanting to know if this is even possible and also if the latest cyanogenmod wont work what version would be best for my specs. Also there are no custom roms for this device that i know of so that is the main reason of wanting to do this.
I hope I'm in the right forum
Edit: I asked on another and they say that CM11 would be good because its stable, also i think this tablet has an 'Allwinner A13' if that helps at all
So now I just need help finding a decent guide for how to port CM11 to my tablet
come on theirs gotta be someone else who has ported CM11 to their allwinner tablet before

[Completed] [Q] How to create ROM for a particular device?

Hello Everyone,
I am Ireen. Last few weeks I have been trying to build a custom ROM and I finally did it. But most important and confusing thing is how I flash this ROM to my device. I am not using popular device like HTC or Samsung I am using a Chinese tablet (MTK). So from this step what I have to do to flash this ROM to my device. On some tutorial they suggest to download kernel source code from HTC or Samsung website. If I manage kernel source code for this device then how I marge it with my ROM and prepare my rom perfect for flashing into my device.?
I just need some guide lines. Any tutorial or thread link will help.
Thanks in advance.
Hi
Thanks for writing to us at XDA Assist. I'd suggest you start by having a look at the following section of XDA:
Android Development and Hacking
Within it you'll find some very helpful sub-forums, in particular:
Miscellaneous Android Development - For ROMs, kernels, tools and scripts only (devices that do not have a forum on XDA)
And if you need to ask any questions regarding your development you can do so here:

[Completed] [Q] Planning to start building my own ROM, a cry for help (Samsung G. Grand Prime VE)

Firstly, happy new year to everyone c:
As the title says, I'm considering making my own ROM for the SM-G731F.
I've lurked around XDA for quite a while now and I can't seem to find a guide that's able to clarify the process for me.
So I decided to make a post here,
The ROM I want to make should be something as close to AOSP as possible (for what I've seen, no Cyanogen or ROMs alike are available, so..), but my programming skills are lacking.
Even with guides about building or porting ROMs I haven't yet figured out where to start.
So here come a few questions:
1. Can I build a AOSP ROM for my Samsung device (AFAIK I need some base ROM right?)
2. Assuming that porting is not an option, is building a ROM from scratch a viable way to do this? (Even though my programming skills are close to none I've had some experience with C and I'm willing to put in the effort)
3. What will be the main challenges to this?
Cheers,
