Hi, everything messed up from using the stupid TWRP 2.6.0.0 .... I was going to flash a custom rom , but it didn't let me, so I did a little research that I need 2.3.3.0 in order to instal any custom rom.So I tried to switch to 2.3.3.0 but it didn't let me... after that I tried to push stock recovery and now i'm stuck at the white HTC Entering Recovery ( pink letters) screen, ( The recovery just doesn't load) ... I just want to finish with this , and go back to my stock htc rom with not roots or anything.. im tired of this seriously.....
When I try to run RUU I get stuck at the Black HTC Letters screen , the the setup stops and says that it will try to repair my phone, sadly with no result every time.. I think that I don't have any OS on my phone right now, because when RUU starts it shows :
Change image version from : ( blank space)
To: ..... bla bla bla , ( the version of the ruu) ...
I have no problems with entering fastboot and unlocking/relocking my Hboot.
Any help about restoringmy phone will be appreciated . Thanks , I'm online all the time so if I get any responses I'll answer quick.
P.S. I can't mount my usb storage from anywhere, and it doesn't show up on my PC when i connect the usb

Don't lose hope, don't panic.
Tell me which RUU did you use?
Also, what is your CID?
How did you flash your recovery ?

well I think that it doesn't really matter which RUU I "used" because it doesn't even get me in the process of installing...
still , tried these two:
RUU_VILLEC2_U_ICS_40_S_HTC_Europe_2.15.401.100_Radio_16.21.20.02U_16.09.20.11_M2_release_286571_signed

I flashed all recoveries with ONE S all in one tool kit,
first i was with TWRP 2.5 i think , then i flashed 2.6, and 2.3.3.... now I flashed the stock recovery , still stuck...

Okay, just now I noticed. You used two Different RUUs for two different versions.
The 1st one is for S3/C2 version, the 2nd one is for S4 version.
Use This Thread to download RUU's only for your version (S4 or S3 whichever you have got). In your case, it does matter which RUU you use.
If you need any help further just ask away.
the thing is that the RUU doesn't get to the process of installing , and I have used those RUU's before....
I need some solution the get to a working recovery and instal some kind of OS because the last time I could get in my recovery it said that I don't have any OS installed...

okay you gonna need fastboot for this. What I have been successful with is:
1. Download an RUU (VERSION SPECIFIC!).
2. Go into Bootloader -> Then select FASTBOOT
3. Connect your Phone to PC. It should say Fastboot - USB mode.
4. Run the RUU, it will get you through all the steps.

doesn't work as I've told you , it happens with every RUU ... I get the Black screen with white HTC letters...
I think that what RUU does is : it updates the version my software I think it just doesn't place a new software right away( just an update), but as TWRP said I don't have OS installed...
can anyone help me ?

Man you're making this difficult. The more I want to help you, the more you become hasty.
RUU doesn't do what you think. It puts New software, updates firmware (hboot, radio, RECOVERY), so yes it is basically a one-stop solution.
Please calm down as panicking won't help.
Tell me your One S version (S3/S4) at least? so that we can move forward in right direction. and also your CID
Tell me what recoveries and RUU you tried. and what errors do you get while you run them.
EDIT: Thanks to @tivofool I forgot to mention that you have to RELOCK your bootloader before running RUU
I'm with S3
I wrote the 2 RUU's I tried to use,
before that i tried TWRP 2.5.0.0,2.3.0.0.,2.6 and finally I flashed factory stock recovery that's it and both my carrier and bl are unlocked
P.S. : Yeah i knew about the relocking but still stuck on black screen with white HTC Letters

okay, so ... I'm going to explane everything I did, I hope I'll help some other people too.
I flashed TWRP from One_S_All-In-One_Kit_v4.0 but without luck, then i flash the factory stock recovery, still the phone was letting me into any of these two recoveries, then i decided reflash the same TWRP again and it worked,
First I couldn't mount the storage from the recovery , but it was still showing in "My Computer" , I had only one option and it was to Format the Storage. So I did.. then copied this rom with gapps on it ---> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2164406
Fully wiped --> Flash Rom , then Flash Gapps, ---> then I booted in fastboot to boot from CMD the "boot.img" with "fastboot flash boot boot.img" from the Pacman Rom and then I Rebooted the HTC and Done
Huge thanks to @khan.orak
I hope I helped someone with the same ****tyass problem.

Hello,
I'm new here but today I tried to root my phone and put CM10 on it. Rooting was not that hard but with flashing the rom I had some problems. I used a tutorial from youtube "Htc One s jellybean 4.2.2 Nightly Cm10.1 Rom" and did everything as he said but when I tried to boot CM it came in a boot loop so I restored my backup and everything was back normal again. But I thought i'll give it another try so I did that and it still didn't work so I restored (via recovery) and at the end it said: It appears your phone isn't rooted do you wanna do it now...(or something like that)? I found that a bit strange but I clicked yes but now if I boot up my phone first you just see "HTC - quietly brilliant" and then the red letters come beneath it saying its a developers version. I Couldn't do anything so I jumped into my bootloader and did factory reset but now everything is gone and I still have that booting problem,
I can acces bootloader and recovery mode but that's it
I really need my phone soon and don't have much time to look on the internet for solutions so could you please help me?
Thanks in advance!!
Lennard
Do you have the RUU for your phone? Maybe that would be the quick fix to take it back to stock. You can use an RUU that's equal or newer than what you have currently.
BTW: I went through this as well.

Do you remember doing any of the following?
-wipe data/factory reset
-wipe dalvik cache
I think that was my problem that I didn't wipe the cache completely. Possibly a bad download too. Do a search on md5. It's basically a check to see if your download is ok before flashing.
As far the RUU is concerned, it will take you back to stock. You will need the info that appears when you start the phone up by holding down VOL DOWN and POWER. Hold down volume down, then press the power for a second or 2. Then it will boot up into HBOOT.
Write down the info that appears and search for a matching RUU equal or newer.
What is the carrier???

For RUU you need stock recovery and "locked" BL. Please read the guide again and only proceed, if you're sure you got it.
Another question:
You said you got a working recovery? Which version do you use? And have you tried install another custom rom.zip? That would be more easy and safe to you. May be your storage got corrupted and thats why your phone crashed and you can't install the rom.zip stored on the sd-card. You could connect the phone to your pc as mass storage via recovery, format it and put a new customrom.zip on it. By the way, why you installed such an old rom? You can use CM11 for sure

The problem is, we're talking about an HTC One S which DOESN"T have a SD Card slot...
Hi guys, a few day ago my One SV had some problems, rebooting itself and runs very slowly; so i tryed to do something like root it, but not knowing what i'm doing 'cause i don't have much time.
Probably installing a wrong rom, now I'm stuck in the bootloader with S-ON Tampered, Locked, and Security Warning flags.
The phone stuck with htc logo, i only manage to go into bootloader, pdanet gives me sync error, twrp recovery doesn't work anymore.
Is there something I can do now?

As long as your device is Locked, you can't flash a custom recovery.
So unlock your device at htcdev.com, flash Twrp recovery and flash back a working rom.
Use a Android 4.1.2 rom, otherwise you will have problems with noisy sound.

How do you mount the sd?
At least pull it out of your device and put it into your PC and copy needed files in this way.
One thing i could not solve earlier (because of bad internet connection): did you already install the Android 4.2.2 update or what was your software running on your device before? Thats important to give you the right rom for your firmware!
I'll give you the links anyway:
4.1.2 -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2254384
4.2.2 -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2512742
Rumrunner & moonshine are confirmed working for your hboot, but which you should use at least also depends on your previous software.

Maybe it's a motherboard problem, what do you think?

I don't know the name of the tool (i'm at work), but you will find it with google search, i think.
In recovery this is not a problem, its only to check on your pc, if the downloaded file is the same as the upload.

trying to do something i flashed with fastboot the stock boot.img and now the phone doesn't start anymore..
what can i do now? :crying:
i have a tmobile htc sensation 4g.. i have been trying to get to where i can flash custom roms
i have successfully got the hboot to say unlocked
the hboot is 1.27
i have been trying to get it to s-off.. i was following hansoons all in one kit and successfully got twrp installed.. but no s-off and i can't flash a custom rom.. i have found all kinds of different guides for this.. somehow i may have messed up my stock rom.. because it would boot back to the android os but i could only see the status bar at the top nothing else..
i have adb correctly set up on my computer.. i'm running windows 7
i was trying to flash back to stock rom so i could continue the controlbear part of the set up with virtualbox and ubuntu
i was able to flash the stock rom with twrp AND hboot fastboot via the cmd line in windows.. but each time it will not full load.. just shows the status bar.. i have no idea what to do.. i'm still s-on also.. and haven't been able to get 4ext or clockwork installed either.. just twrp..
i need someone to help walk me through this correctly. any and all help always appreciated
edit:: i found the kgs utility.. and it seems to have installed clockwork somewhow, and i tried to reflash the stock rom with it.. same results.. so i went back to bootloader and continued kgs utility and it directed me to controlbear website to get the windows ics zip.. but i can't find the zip on the website.. i'm still s-on

thank you for your reply.
ok, i was able to get the windows version of control bear but when i copy it to the kgs utility/tools folder and run the s-off part of the program i get a md5 mismatch or no file found error..
also the link to the rumrunner program gave a list of devices.. the sensation 4g was not in the list.. however i tried anyway as it is stated as being a 'universal' program.. but it wants me to be in android with usb debugging enabled.. i cannot get into android . it just shows the status bar.. nothing else..i can however get into hboot and use fastboot usb
EDIT::: I ran rumrunner from android where it was showing just the status bar.. i thought maybe usb debugging would still be selected (since i couldn't get to it) .. and it was apparently because the program worked, and i am now in hboot with s-off.. so rumrunner was the cure all.. and the simplest..
now, apparently my recovery is still just twrp.. how can i go about flashing clockwork or preferrably, 4ext (i have both of the img files for these on my hdd), so that i can flash ordroid rom
EDIT::: I was able to get 4ext properly flashed with kgs utility at this point. i was also able to update my firmware to 3.33 from 3.32. i was not able to install OrDroid 50 (1 gig?) with 4ext. I get: E: Can't open /sdcard/OrdDroid_50.1.0.zip (bad) Installation aborted. No idea why. I ran the fix permissions and the check file system and formatted the sdcard and toggled usb storage (in 4ext) and recopied ordroid.. no change. do i need to put the sdcard in a micro card reader and copy it that way?
EDIT::: I removed the sdcard and copied the rom via an sdcard reader.. same result.. i also tried the latest cyanogen 11 rom.. it didn't work either.. not sure what to do next any help would be appreciated.
update 4ext recovery to the latest version
http://www.4shared.com/zip/WnSyLWMaba/4EXT_Recovery_Touch_v1006_RC3_.html
extract the recovery.img and flash it via fastboot command
the command is fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
after that fastboot reboot bootloader
then try to flash the rom again
by the way it was showing you the status bar because you were still running temproot.bat file for the S-OFF procedure
that's why you couldn't boot to the android OS
thank you
how do you 'get out' of temproot.bat?
i did what you said and the cm 11 rom installed (without any setup questions?) and the gapps zip .. but i got the same message on ordroid 50.. i will post in that thread for that. thank you for your help.

hey, i took your advice and started verifying checksums.. (i really didn't know what it was before, but it took like 2 minutes to find out what it was and how to do it. anyways, the ordroid checksum verified successfully.. so no telling what caused the "(bad)" installation. not a big deal... because when i checked out your specs in your signature i discovered the venom viper rom.. WOW! .. so, i'm definitely using that now.. THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR HELP!!! AND THANKS FOR PUTTING THE VIPER ROM IN YOUR SIGNATURE SO I COULD FIND IT~! my thing is customizing what i have.. and this seems to be designed just for that... so THANK YOU!!! :cyclops::cyclops::cyclops:

Long time lurker. I read and can use Google . Regardless, it failed and scared the crap out of me as it wouldn't boot. Got back into boot loader, fired up EXE again and it seems to have finished the 2nd time. A few more grey hairs, but all is good my friend. Thanks.

Same thing happened to me! Failed the first time around, worked the second. Booting now and it appears to be working (Android is upgrading...)
So when I use the ruu for sdcard and I reboot after I get send to recovery and can't boot system. Why is that?
EXE/ZIP RUU M8_VZW 5.0.1 Help
I installed the RUU zip via SD last night. I was running Dottat's EXE/ZIP RUU M8_VZW 4.4.4 (s-off only) with stock recovery. When I flashed the 5.0.1 RUU zip, I have a couple Partition Fails (unfortunately, I don't remember exactly which ones). However, in the time since I installed it, I saw all the new messages in the thread about others having the same Partition Fail errors. Even with the errors, my phone booted fine. I am having some weirdness though (major lag after sending a message in Facebook Messenger app....a reboot resolves the lag for a little while, then it returns; Verizon Caller ID app won't load; logging in to Swiftkey keyboard's cloud with my Google account fails with an error). So I see the new zip to flash the L Hboot BEFORE flashing the RUU. Obviously too late for that. Also, I installed TWRP recovery in place of the stock recovery.
So my question is: How should I proceed with trying to get the 5.0.1 to flash with no errors? Should I install Dottat's 4.4.4 (s-off), which will get me back to stock recovery...then let it boot up. Then flash the L hboot, and then finally flash the 5.0.1 RUU? Or are there other alternatives?
Thanks!

Run it once more. The failed PU was for the data partition. If you run it once more it will be successful. I think the root cause here is the changes to partitions that occurred with this OTA and that the likely solution is to flash the L hboot first before doing the RUU to L. Once on L firmware/OS you can use the RUU again with no issues.
One big dang speed bump in all the fun.

recovery doesnt' weigh in here. You can install it from bootloader using the SD card method.
How do I flash L Hboot? with twrp? do I have to flash it or can I just use the ruu to get to the new 5.0.1 firmware? thanks
So you asked to report our experience ...
First, let me say thanks. I am now on 5.0.1 and back to root thanks to your work and willingness to share.
Background:
I was stock 4.4.4, unlocked, s-off with TWRP recovery when the VZW 5.0.1 OTA hit. I had a number of bloatware apps frozen through Titanium Backup and probably due to a combination of all that I couldn't load the update. Reflashing boot, system and recovery still wouldn't let me take the OTA, so I ended up using HTC SyncManager repair to make Verizon happy. I got the update, kept unlocked and s-off, but lost root.
Recovering Root:
After finding your stuff, I first tried loading through the bootloader with your zips in the root of my SD card (128 GB, single partition, exFAT). No go for either the hboot or the RUU. both gave me a "Wrong image" message and only allowed reboot to system.
So the next step was to try flashing with TWRP. I flashed TWRP 2.8.5.0 via fastboot and then let it do all it's stuff (Busybox, SuperSU, SD Card Fix, etc.) , rebooted to system just to have everything catch up to itself, and then rebooted to TWRP recovery. I then flashed the hboot and the RUU through TWRP, rebooted, and I'm back to full root.
So again, thanks! A happy camper backing everything up with Titanium again and hoping that you really wanted to hear a real-world experience.

Well, XDA does call me a "Junior Member". Probably a good reason for that.
Looking back at the TWRP log, it seems you are right and my attempts to flash hboot and RUU from TWRP failed (but any indication of that flashed by so fast that I couldn't tell). So does that mean that my fastboot flash of TWRP recovery opened up everything that I needed to get root directly from TWRP (installation of BusyBox and SuperSU)?

Most recoveries will offer to flash su on an unrooted rom. You can either do that or manually flash the newest supersu.zip After you boot up you can install busybox from an app like this... https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=stericson.busybox
So what rom/firmware are you currently on?
After using the RUU, it finished with a successful update. I booted into recovery to create a backup, but now when I try to boot back into the OS, it goes back into TWRP like it would if I were booting into recovery. Anyone have any ideas?

Yes. It booted to OS the first time, after the RUU completed, but now it just boots back into recovery.

Initially, yes. I flashed the latest TWRP. I think I might have flashed the wrong version. I'm rerunning the RUU. I really appreciate the help.
If it was the right version by chance, do you have any idea what could've caused that?

Did you use flashify? Reason I ask is that app still thinks it's a Sprint phone. Use the twrp I have posted in the op.
