unfortunately i'm experiencing sound crackling using my sony xba3 and ue 600vi (12/13 Ω @1 kHz) on higher volumes. they work normally on other devices. using my philips SHE9553 (16 Ω) or big-can Denon AHD 1100 (32 Ω) i don't experience any crackling or distortion.
my razr currently runs under CM11 but the problem already existed under CM10.2 and stock. especially bass-heavy music isn't enjoyable because of permanent crackling (e. g. NIN - Hesitations Marks). it seems to me that it is the same problem described here for the galaxy s4: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2258831. samsung apparently fixed it by firmware update so i'm asking the following two questions:
1. do you experience that crackling as well (low-impedance headphones, higher volumes)
2. can it be fixed by firmware/kernel changes (CM-kernel)

I'm having some trouble with my sensation bluetooth. It paired to my car fine (2011 subaru wrx) but the audio when i play music crackles which makes it un-listenable for me. pandora and the music player both have the same issue and the audio is fine when listening through an aux cable.
the other thing is that it doesn't auto-connect. i have to go into the wireless settings every time i get into my car and manually connect it. i'm coming from the nexus one which had no issues with my car bluetooth system at all.
any one else having these issues?
Hi
I have just got my Sensation XE and have been experiencing exactly the same issue, however I appear to have found a solution.
My Car Stereo is a Sony MEX-BT5100 which has worked flawlessly with my past phones (Iphone 3GS, HTC Touch Diamond) but almost every song I played through bluetooth with the Sensation was crackling making it unlistenable. Was on the verge of returing the phone and getting a Galaxy S2, when noticed that the crackles were mostly at the louder points in the songs so I tried reducing the bluetooth volume a couple of notches on the handset and this appears to have solved the problem. I am guessing that with the bluetooth output volume set at max on the handset, then with loud pieces of music the car stereo couldn't cope which resulted in the crackle. I had also noted the same with my HTC Bluetooth Headset (BH-S100) but to a lesser extent.
Has anyone else noticed something similar?
I also had these issues.
The funny thing is that I had no problems in audio quality when using Spotify.
I recently flashed one of the ICS + sense roms based on the last leaked RUU and the problem seems to be gone.
Since lowering the bluetooth volume I have had no more crackles so hopefully problem is solved!

In that case, perhaps the ICS ROMs have a lower max bluetooth volume output set, I'll wait and see how the official ICS ROM behaves with my Car Stereo at max bluetooth volume!
I have been using my Atrix 2 from last 4 months. There were just meager issues like network connectivity etc
Recently, I discovered that the voice output through my earphones has marginally decreased i.e. the maximum volume has decreased. I tried using other earphones also but have experienced the same thing. The speakers are doing fine. There seems to be a problem when connecting ear phones only.
Secondly, When I go to Settings/Sounds/Ringtones or any other kind of tones. I get sound from my speaker even when the earphones are plugged in . The sound output is from both speakers and earphones.
However, playing music gives me output from earphones but with less loudness(i.e. max volume)
I am pissed off because I really love listening to music. please help me. What kinda problem is this.

Could be a hardware-related issue. You might want to try to get a replacement, since you say that the phone is still under warranty...
I have this Ainol Novo 9 Spark and I installed cyanogenmod 10. But I have a big problem. While an headphone is connected to the device, I hear noise and hiss when I try to play an audio or watch a video . If no audio is played, I can occasionally hear very low amplitude noise related with cpu usage. It is like I can sense how busy the cpu is. I'm using a high quality monitoring headphone. Has anyone witnessed this issue? Can it be software related?
It seems that the Nexus 5 still has the annoying crackling sound that was introduced in 4.2. I was really hoping that they would have fixed this by now. I found this solution thread which is for the Galaxy Nexus but I'm not even sure if it would work on the Nexus 5. Can anyone else confirm that they are getting some crackling on the mid-tones when streaming through bluetooth. -Ryan
Introduced in 4.2? This **** has been the cornerstone of bluetooth music since it's inception. I've had crackling, low quality treble, overly compressed audio out of every bluetooth device I've ever used:
1. Several Android phones going all the way back to the HTC EVO 4G.
2. Macbooks.
3. iPads
4. aptX adapters
Simply put, bluetooth audio is terrible. If you expect anything more than bare minimum (usually good for voice), you shouldn't be using bluetooth.
I don't have any problem streaming over bluetooth. I have a bluetooth to aux jack adapter.
Sent from the jaws of my Hammerhead!
Interesting link you've posted. I've actually found that I'm getting a little bit cleaner sound with this phone compared to my Evo LTE. I'm using Google Music with Viper4Android sound mod. In my car I've always had an issue with the extreme high end frequencies crackling on "s" words or cymbals and using have to cut down drastically anything above 14k. I haven't had to do that since getting the phone on Friday. Still I'll probably fiddle with the file swaps as I'm always looking for better sound.
Edit: No go for me. Kept getting a music playback error.
I'm having the same problem after 4.2 update. I was using Galaxy Nexus back then. Now my new Nexus 5 is having the same problem. I'm now considering getting one of those bluetooth to aux adapter even though my car has bluetooth built-in =(
Volume through the speaker and ear piece are extremely low compared to the stock phone. Unable to make calls with ear piece as I cant even hear the other person. and speaker volume while playing media is extremely low and quality is very poor. Sound Quality used to be the best feature of this phone, now only sound through earphones is Good. anyone else experiencing this ?
Even I have observed the same since the first update. I am thinking to downgrade and going back to stock.
Which version is good?
just out of curiosity, is the sabre dac enabled in this??
