Note 3 + Note 10.1 (2014) or S4 + Note 8.0 - Galaxy Note 3 General

Moved to the Q&A section, please reply there. (not sure how to delete)
Not sure what I want to do here. I currently have a Galaxy S3 and a Tab 7.7. I am somewhat happy with the setup, but I have an upgrade coming and know I want to have a member of the Note family. I run my own HVAC company and I am out on the jobsite doing a lot of estimates during the week. I have been wanting to streamline more of my jobsite notes from a tablet to my laptop/desktop. I was hoping for Tab 7.7 to help with a lot of that but it has fallen short of being easy enough to use. I find myself still taking notes on paper and converting to my computer once I get home. The Tab has been regulated to more of toy (which has been great) instead of a useful tool.
I really like the form factor of the 7.7 though. I use it for a Kindle app to do reading, although only at night. I have an older Kindle Touch which is great during the day but at night or in low light I find myself reach for my 7.7 more. I am thinking about getting the new Kindle Paperwhite depending on what I upgrade to.
I really like the form factor of the Note 8.0, but compared to the 2014 10.1 it is seriously lacking specs. The positive on this, is I could probably pick one up for half the cost of the 10.1. Plus I feel that if I get the Note 3 there isn't going to be much of a difference between both devices. I am also a bit apprehensive about having such a large phone.
I know I am all over the board here, but let me know what you think.
Thanks.

I had N4 and changed it to N3, very happy with that decision. N3 is much better, brilliant screen and good size as i am carrying 2 phones in one pocket

I'm running with my note 3 and note 8.0 tablet. If and when the note 8.9 pro (maybe diff name?) I plan on switching to that. The 10.1 may be to took for the job site. I use my 8 to take notes at school and it still works great for media.
If I'm not able to get to my tablet I can use my note 3 really quick and sync notes when I need to.

Thanks for the fast responses!
I heard there are issues with the Note 3 syncing notes with the other note family. Is this true?

Just realized I probably posted this in the wrong forum. I am going to move to the Q&A section.
Thanks.

Note 8.0 and s4
I have the note 8.0 and s4.they sync well together with the Samsung link app. The s-notes on the note 8.0 syncs with the s - memos on the s4.this is a great feature. I think the 10.0 may be too big for you on the job. The 8.0 is the perfect size and not too heavy to carry around. You can take notes on your phone and they sync right to your tab of vise versa. I had both the note 8.0 tab and the note 2 phone at one point and ended up giving my husband the phone for the s4...they are basically the same thing.

[Q] looking to buy...some questions

hey guys.
my wife and I are big Samsung Fans. we've got Samsung Smart LED 3D TV, Samsung Blu-ray player, Samsung sound bar, both of us have Galaxy S3s.
We had the Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 but opted for selling it a while back. Now my wife has hinted at wanting a tablet again, and I want the latest and greatest, and this time a 10.1 since our phones are 4.8" and it doesn't make sense to get a tablet with only a couple inches more.
is this the latest iteration of the Note tablets? I thought it would be based on the Note 2?
http://www.samsung.com/us/mobile/galaxy-tab/GT-N8013ZWYXAR
looking at this, it's got a lower resolution than my phone, very outdated software (i've been on 4.1.1 for almost 2 months!) and hardly seems to have the upgrade in technology I was expecting.
or am I looking at the wrong thing?
if you can steer me in the right direction, that would be great. we want the latest and newest Samsung tablet...this seems to be it, but it also seems to be a little disappointing in the specs.
thanks!
Well, the display does have a lower resolution, but for me it is fine and acceptable.
For the firmware:
Mine was sold with JB 4.1.1
from my GT-N8000 using XDA Premium HD app

Latest, yes, all current samsung high end devices use an almost identical chipset, sgs2, sgs3, note, note2, note 10.1 etc.

Screen is fine mate, perfectly good for a screen of this this size, more than good i think, anything else is just a waste of pixels and cpu processing imho
if you can steer me in the right direction, that would be great. we want the latest and newest Samsung tablet...this seems to be it, but it also seems to be a little disappointing in the specs.
This is the latest and best you'll get from samsung, there may be more to come in the not too distant future but this is arguable the best on the market right not due to the added Spen.
I would like to know why my note 2 and note 10.1 dont have same spen features? Why does the 10.1 not have the hover preview and some other things the note 2 has? I just bought my 10.1 and am a little confused. But over all i think tablet is awesome i would recommend it. Thanks

If you don't care about the spen (Which is fantastic, if you ask me..), you might want to look at the Nexus 10.

In 4.1.1 there's a setting called "Airview" which does exactly what you're describing.
All those features are part of JB, I bet you still are ICS and hence you do not have these features as an when you get the JB upgrade you will get all those feature.
These more of OS dependent features I guess and hence you do not have it in ICS.
Note is one the best tablets around the screen resolutions looks bad on paper but it is one of the best displays around OLED are good but they have their own draw backs like the tint they give you even the Nexus 10 display is not the best.
I would suggest considering the options you have Note is one of the best, I have not used a nexus 10 so I cannot comment on it

Thanks for the responses. I will look at the Nexus 10, though we are partial to Samsung for its ease of integration into everything else we have.
In response to the comments about the resolution of the screen, I want better. I don't think it makes sense to have a lower resolution on a 10.1" device than what I have on my 4.8" phone. The new iPad has much higher resolution And I would have expected better from Samsung.

And you actually got more from Samsung - it has an inbuilt Wacom digitiser that can accurately sens where the s-pen is. Accurately enough that you can write on it, and it will read (and convert) your writing to text.
The screen res is fine, I generally find that the limiting ability is my eyes not the screen
It is due to the wacom digitizer that the screen res is lower... Wacom don't do Hi-res screens.... However, I watch movies on this, browse the web and do work on it. Screen is fine.
I think the "bigger is better" attitude came about with Apple not being able to compete with most things so brought out their retina screen.... The human eye can't detect this many pixels so it's useless to have a 10 inch screen with off the chart resolution....
If you want an all around tablet that does everything and doesn't disappoint then go with the Note 10.1... Otherwise you are looking at other tablets that aren't Samsung... They may have awesome screen resolution but it takes more than 1 thing to make a brilliant tablet....
Trust me, I have had the Nexus 7, the Nexus 10, the Kindle Fire, and now the note 10.1 and the note is by far the best tablet I have owned. The screen should be 1 of the least important factors when choosing a tablet in my opinion, especially when they are all hi def to begin with. If you want a tablet that is best all around, especially for product tivity and getting things done, the note is so far above the competition it's not even funny. I have installed jelly bean on my note and it vastly improved the existing capabilities of the note. It should be out for the US devices within the next month or so. It is well worth the wait, it is the best update I have ever received on an Android device before.
Regarding the Nexus 10, you will be impressed by it screen for the first week or so, then you will realize that it can't do anything your phone can't do, and you will not use it as much. The note is amazing because it can do so many more things than any phone or tablet on the market. You really have to own it to understand how great it is.

sounds great. it will mostly be used by my wife, and she definitely would make use of the writing recognition, so I guess it's settled. thanks for the input.

bought her the white 16GB Wi-Fi model (GT-N8013?).
now to find out how to root and update it to JB. it came with ICS 4.0.4 and software update shows no updates available.
with time I can figure it out (have rooted and modded every device we've had, including our current SGS3s) but if you can give me a link to the best rooting method (the sticky seems outdated?) and the latest/most stable JB-based rom that would be greatly appreciated.
I had my doubts about getting the note 10.1 because of all the reasons stated in the first post of this thread. I am a note 2 owner so i wasnt keen on getting a tablet with lower specs than my phone but as far as android tablets go at the moment this is top of the range. Its due a jellybean update very soon and is quick on ics anyway.
Multiview is awesome
The Spen is handy and very fun with photoshop touch
Front facing stereo speakers are nice
The battery life is good
Expandable sd card slot is a bonus (and not standard on all tablets)
I do notice the screen pixels on the note 10.1 slightly compared to my note 2 but its still a clear crisp HD display. (And the higher res the screen the more of a drain it can be on resourses).
There is also a 3g note 10.1 which u can actually make calls and text with.
2GB of ram.
Get the note 10.1 in the same colour as your s3 the phone and tablet look great as a set
Overall the note 10.1 is one of if not the highest spec android tablet on the market right now and for me it also offers a few things other tablets cant.
My honest dislikes are the damn 30pin connector and no micro usb. Yes i have an otg adapter but i find the 30 pin connector to have no benefits over the micro usb and just a pain. Personal niggle.
Also its a very slippery device thats a terrible fingerprint magnet but i wouldnt swap it for any other tablet on the market and i spent weeks watching youtube reviews on them all before i bought the note 10.1.
I used to own an ipad 3 i prefer my note 10.1 but im an android fan
So yeah id recomend it

dont get hung up on the screen resolution mate, they all use similar DPI's, where there is a qualitative difference the extra features in the note set it far ahead of the pack for me.

Hi Max-Pain,
JB 4.1.2 is coming along officially, www.sammobile.com has just leaked some semi-official versions (Asia and Europe) already bug-free and very smooth.
Don't forget the S-Pen feature can make you "drop" your inkpen once and for all........ love it! It may take a long while that MS tablet can boast such a feature - WP8 can't hold a candle to Android for the time being........ if I could take a strong side, I'd say Android is the best ever for touchscreen, forget Apple and MS........ somebody could pick on me for this, who cares........ Enjoy
thanks for the continued feedback guys...but I think you missed my post above where I said I already bought it.
and i'm already rooted and on jelly bean

[Q] Galaxy Tab 7.7 or Nexus 7, which would you take?

I have a Galaxy Tab 8.9 (P7300), and I bought a Nexus 7 32gb wifi just to try out and see if I like it.
Well, I love the speed and the pure Android interface of the Nexus, it's definitely better than my P7300. But there are some points that still make me think if the Nexus 7 is "the tablet for me", you know what I mean.
First, there's no GSM calling function. It's not a big deal, I could live without it, but I can't deny it's a plus.
Second, there's no SD slot and USB mass storage mode. The first is compensated with the 32gb internal memory. There's a workaround to the last, a USB OTG cable and an app from Play Store.
Last, and there's no solution to that, is the 7'' screen size. Some magazines here in Brazil are sold in an "iPad format" (1024x768, no zoom in/out), so in a 1280x800 display, some parts of it get really small to read, depending on the screen size. In my P7300, I can read them ok. In my Nexus 7, I can't. I don't know if in a 7.7 display it would get better.
So I'm thinking about buying a P6800, even with its main con, IMO: no Jelly Bean for it.
And you: between P6800 and Nexus 7 32gb, what would you take? What are the pros and cons of the 7.7 compared to the Nexus 7?
7.7
Pros:
Thin
Sdcard
Phone functionality
Better screen
Cons:
Touchwiz
No JB
CyanogenMod stability dependent on galaxy note/s2
Probably more than I can think of. I would get the 7.7 if you don't mind touchwiz or incomplete (for the time being) cyanogenmod.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
I just got the 7.7 about 10 days ago and can't be more pleased with it.
I did get the i815 variant but will probably just use wifi.
I can hotspot through my phone if need be....
I decided on the 7.7 because of it's size and specifically its size in portrait mode.
I like browsing in portrait and I can easily type with thumbs with this tab. I did hold a nexus 7 and found it the perfect size for my hands to thumb type. However, this isn't too bad and I can hum right along and let swiftkey fix any errors....
I really don't like landscape when it's the 16:10 or 16:9 ratios.
For my phone, I have the galaxy note and never use it in landscape so I knew the same would happen with a tablet (my first one btw).
The only time I do use it is for video which for me isn't that often.
I don't mind the touchwiz so much when I use nova launcher.
However, I just loaded the CM 10.1 rom and have been please with it so far.
If the 7.7 had come out at the same as the Nexus 7 or vice versa I would still end up getting the 7.7 purely on specs alone, plus the phone option
Sent from my GT-P6800 using xda premium
We had the same problem. I, on the other hand had the iPad3 before i bought this tab 7.7. Was torn between this tab, the note 2 and Nexus 7. My friend has a Nexus 7, and I can't help but tell him it looked so cheap beside the tab 7.7, he couldn't agree more. lol. He is now planning on selling it. I do agree that Nexus 7 seems a little bit faster most of the time, on the homescreen scrolling and the app drawer. But you know what I did? Dumped TouchWiz in favor of Apex Launcher. Everything went as smooth as JB, and the great thing is that it has Tablet Mode too. I tried flashing custom ROMs but I just cant live with the 'phablet' mode of stock JB Android. The nav buttons are too big for my taste and waste of screen estate. Tried PA but was too tedious, buggy and full of reboots. I can just flash the JB Apps anyways.
Galaxy Tab 7.7 pros:
SD Card
Better Display
can call/text
premium build
thinner and lighter
has back camera for quick sharing and Skype (to show the environment, etc.
better front camera
better battery life (with cellular on, my friend's Nex7 has no 3G, I'd expect the 3G version to have even shorter battery life)
software is Tablet mode, not phablet
thinner bezels
better speakers
Nexus 7 pros:
cheaper
a little bit smoother on some tasks
better support from Google and the devs
a little bit narrower
better benchmarks for bragging
Try GO Launcher HD Tablet, at last a proper launcher for tablet :good:
+1 for the above posts.
I have both devices. The 7.7 is my "Go To" device for anything media (movies, Netflix, Hulu+, etc). JB would be nice but ICS perfoms well also.
The N7 is enjoyable as a test bed for trying out ROMs and whatnot.
If the 7.7 weren't afflicted with the Superbrick Bug it would be, hands down, the best tab to be had. Better than anything Apple (or anyone else for that matter) has offered.

Glad to hear that! I flashed ICS (Austria) months ago leaving stock TW and TWRP. Works fine for me so plan on leaving it there unless either an official Samsung fix is released (doubtful) or another device replicates the 7.7 (again, doubtful).
In the meantime, I have a great tab I enjoy! I'll flash the beejesus out of other devices. lol

Try GO launcher HD Tablet, the first launcher for tablet, it makes all the difference, and it is free :good:
I will choose P6800.
I will choose P6800. I already have P6800 ^^;
I use it for ebook, show movie and phone. So external SD, good screen and battery life are important points for me.
Nexus 7 is on good price and it has good OS although I will choose P6800. :good:
Because of some problems after I "manually" updated to ICS (web browsing issues with javascript turned on, see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1958474), I bought a Nexus 7. Had it for less than 24 hours. You just cannot compare the Nexus screen to the 7.7. The Nexus screen looked so small and washed-out compared to the Galaxy. I guess the importance of that depends of what you are doing.
I also failed to see what was so great about the "pure Google" experience on the Nexus tab (I have a Galaxy Nexus phone with JB, so I pretty much knew what that was like anyway). The only thing that was better - to me - about the Nexus tab was the way the e-mail client works with Windows Live / Hotmail. On the Galaxy 7.7 you have to scroll to the bottom and click "load more details" to get a non-text version no matter what settings you use, while the Nexus loaded the full HTML version without that annoying step. Well, also the Nexus probably ran a little snappier, but not so much that using it was a meaningfully better experience.
I had a Nexus 7 and switched to a Galaxy Tab 7.7 mainly for the screen, but I also wanted a back camera. More battery life is a plus. The stock i815 ROM (LP10, but not LP11) isn't all that bad. Tried CM 10.1 but I didn't like the split bars, so my ideal OS would probably be 4.1.2.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3

I heard this from a friend and I want to make sure that this information is correct. Is the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 coming out soon? if so when and where can I find this info so I can read it for my self?
I also have the Original Samsung Galaxy Tablet 10.1 (WiFi) and I am running 4.0.4 and I am wanting to know if and when 4.1.2 or Jelly Bean will be officially released for the Original Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. I do not want to root or download a Non Official rom to my tab.
I do not know about Galaxy Tab 3. But I do know that the original Galaxy Tab 10.1 is not included in the list of devices Samsung plan to update to Jelly Bean. So ICS 4.0.4 is the last update you are getting. If you want Jelly Bean, however, you will have to root your tab and install custom rom. I also use the original tab and in addition to ICS I also run 4.1.2 and the current Jelly Bean 4.2.2, both courtesy of an XDA Developer, Pershoot.

There was some mentioning a couple of weeks back that this GT-P8200 got its BT certification and meanwhile also the WIFI one http://www.tabletblog.de/2013/03/samsung-galaxy-tab-3-plus-wlan/
They even claimed it could become announced together with the Galaxy S IV
lets see whether and when it appears - still thinking of to sonys xperia Tablet Z or the Asus TF700 as an alternative (with the latter being a bit rusty)
hopefully soon

I have no inside information about a pending release of a Tab 3, or anything else for that matter, but I noticed something interesting at the AT&T store yesterday. They have a special going on right now if you buy a Samsung S3 phone for $199, (with a contract), you can also purchase a Tab 2 10.1, (with a SIM card) for an additional $199. Not a bad deal if you want a Tab 2. I am sure that the S3 will enjoy a big price cut as soon as the S4 hits the stores, however.
We all know that the S3 will soon be replaced by the S4 and retailers are probably looking for ways to clear out the existing inventory. The same might be going on with the Tab 2. This could be an indication that the Tab 3 is on the way as well. Time will tell.
almost a month later and still no news on a new 10' flagship tablet from Samsung. The same old news get recycled every now and then but nothing tangible.
Hopefully after the launch of the S4 we start hearing real "new" news about a octo core powered retina all sing all dance tablet that is available in the not too distant future
don't want to wait till x-mas ...

I was hoping to hear something similar by now, too... my guess (hope) was that details would start to slip out about a new uber-powered GTab and a possible release date when the S4 was ready - but the lack of noise makes me wonder if a Nexus 10 is in my near future instead. The 16 and 32GB versions are in stock... wait a couple more weeks for some news, or 2 days for a new toy from Google on my doorstep... decisions, decisions.
galaxy note = galaxy tab + stylus???

Looks like they're basically just updating the look of the Tab 2 7" to match the Galaxy lineup hardware design. Almost identical specs to last year's model. And no mention of a 10" model.
I have the Tab 2 7" and don't want a much bigger device (although I could live with 8".) But I was at least hoping for a resolution bump. Hopefully the Nexus 7.7 rumors will pan out.
Is it me or are the specs for the Galaxy Tab 3 super underwhelming. Dual core 1.2 ghz? Thats what I have my 1st gen galaxy tab running at lol.

The edges are not really alumnium the whole thing is plastic the front is glass rest is plastic. I almost want to trade it for the 2 but I'll be patient and hope this gets picked up for development and root can happen and cm10.1

[Q] I'm buying a tablet... what are your thoughts on your device now?

I am in the market for a tablet. I have had plenty of Android phones so I'm very familiar. I have no desire to get an iPad(let's get that out of the way up front) but I've been debating an Android tablet or a Windows 8 tablet. I'm currently contemplating a Note 10.1 but am a little nervous about it's age. We all now that a device that's a almost a year old (gulp) is almost ancient (I'm not knocking it because I'm still considering buying it). So...my question is this:
Given the current options, would you buy a Note 10.1 again? If not, what would you buy instead? Thanks everyone!

Its a great tablet and givin it's age it's still the best one available that runs on android, that's my opinion. I haven't used a windows tablet so I can't say anything about them

I would say the Note 10.1 is still the best out there, besides which the S Pen really sets it apart from the competition.
As for Windows 8 tablet vs Android tablet you just have to look at the relative sales for each format to see Android is way out in front and has a comprehensive eco system to match. Microsoft are very much like Apple in that they like to lock their customers in to their own proprietary eco systems, being primarily open source, you don't have to suffer this major limitation with Android.
I've had several Android tablets now and my favourite before the Note 10.1 was the original Galaxy Tab 10.1, the Note 10.1 is a great leap forward.
Still using it everyday, with browsing, drawing and even watching TV with a dvbt-receiver This thing is effectivity and entertainment in its profoundest sense...

If i were u I would narrow it down between the nexus 10 and the note 10.1
The nexus 10 has better specs abviously and it will allways has the updated software and the screen is fantastic
I own a note 10.1 so I'll tell u some features on the note 10.1 that I cant live without
1) the multi-window multitasking believe me its very handy and I use it all the time
2) s-pen I actually only use it in some Web pages as a cursor on the menus of that site
3) sd card I dont have to point the advantage here
And if ur worried about the speed of this device I find it rarely ever lagging
But if it was my choice I would pick non of that list I would wait for the next generation of note 10.1 that device will have the display of the nexus 10 and even better specs and more features
If you are doing a lot of writing S Pen is something you just need to have. If not - get Nexus 10, it's also made by Samsung so component quality should be similar.

What DVDT receiver are you using? Would be cool to get...
A simple guide to tablets today: Are you going to use the tablet for work, or studies? Then the Note 10.1 is without competition in the Android section and there won't be another similar this year since Samsung recently released their 8 inch version. Depending on what you're using it for and your budget the relatively new Samsung Series 7 Slate (or something) is worth checking out, it's a bit larger with 11.6 inch but it got a full windows which of course makes it more of a working machine for obvious reasons (MS Office, Matlab and other full version app to mention a few). It's not as handheld though, but I've not seen it irl so I'm not sure how heavy and bulky it really is and it's about twice as expensive.
If you're typing alot the Asus transformer series is of course something to consider, especially if you like building quality.
But if you just want a tablet for surf, maybe games and movies/pictures I believe the best one out there is Nexus 10.

I bought a note 10.1 today after thinking hard Nexus10 vs. I have and like a Nexus7. But I wanted larger, and felt the rear camera and sd card capability made the important decision parts for me. Costco was $479 today. Couple days ago it was $429. 《Sigh》
WIsh I could get rid of the Samsung embedded apps. That is a disadvantage, the Nexus is clean. Almost like I bought it from Verizon. Wonder how clogged up a vz note is《g》
Thought hard about ASUS transformer and the dock. But saw too much griping online. And no local knowledgeable vendor. Though I likes asus mobos and their nexus 7, I couldn't afford to buy a dud. Besides there are so many variation of the tf700 out there that it is hard to know what you are looking at.
Different direction....
I realize you guys may all laugh at my indecisiveness but this tablet was for work. I went to Best Buy to look at a Note 10.1 in person and for close to the same price I noticed I could get a pretty decent laptop. I'm probably gonna get this :

It has ridiculously good specs for a cheap price which I can't argue with. I appreciate all of your help!!

Thats all good but the purpose of a tablet is the size and weight which makes it so portable. I rarely use my laptop. It pretty much just sits there collecting dust. I only use it for photoshop and a couple other programs once in a blue.

Yeah I hear you completely but the more I compared a laptop vs a tablet I realized that I'd be limited on several programs I use on a desktop. A laptop would allow me to still use music creation software, vector manipulation and a few others that I wouldn't really be able to do on a tablet without sacrificing performance. I have come to agree that the note 10.1 would currently be the best tablet choice for what I was hoping to do but a laptop is the way to go for me at this point. Thanks everybody!

I got my Note 10.1 about a month ago after struggling with Note 8.0 quality issues (more than 10 checked and all just poor). I have used a lot of tablets and while it got some time to get used to the low res screen of Note 10.1, after a while it won't bother you anymore. This tablet is really wihtout competiton if thinking of something you can really use daily for work and fun. Also the battery life is excellent. As I have said before, I have no use for a tablet without "S Pen" anymore

I've had both the 10.1 and TF700, and the TF700 is a beauty. If your into rooting and tweaking, the TF700 can be made completely smooth, lagfree, and with no problems. Out of the box, its pretty silly, with some work its the same if not for sure better in real world performance than any other tablet on Android.
The battery in the dock, full usb slot, micro sd, full sd card slot, and most of all the far superior screen is what sold me on it. It really depends on what your going to be using it for, I use it for class and the dock is invaluable as well as all of the extended memory. I also watch plenty of HD movies and they are crystal clear which is a plus. But I definitely see the appeal of the Spen, but I'd never use it.

Sometime next month you will be able to do full multitrack recording on pretty much any android device including the note 10.1, different interfaces will have diffrrent compatibility but most should work

if im not late exus 10 a lto better a lot cheaper and more powerful!
Full circle haha
So... I bought that laptop. The DVD drive didn't line up to open or close properly. I thought maybe it was a fluke so I returned it for a replacement. The second one came and the mousepad didn't left click properly. Long story short, a returned that one for a refund... (I guess that's what happens when you try to buy a $380 laptop).
I ordered this tablet this morning and I'll just stick to my desktop for anything that requires more processing power: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10440897&PID=2923696&SID=
That's a great price ! Welcome to the family

Galaxy Tab 3 or Other

I'm thinking of getting a Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 however I'm not sure as I have a Galaxy Tab 10.1 and it had some major issues (copy/paste bug and YouTube lag to name a few) and Samsung never bother to keep later Android versions coming or do any bugfixing.
I'm wondering if the Galaxy Tab 3 is in better shape and what the performance is like?
I'm considering a Nexus 10 too but curious as to whether a newer Nexus 10 would be on it's way.
Open to other suggestions on tablets.
Thanks very much.

Well i have the Gtab 3 and its a great tablet with almost no performance issues(for me at least), but if you are looking for the best then the Nexus 10 is the answer.
Awesome performance, much higher resolution, guaranteed google updates(it runs 4.3 now while the Gtab 3 might run 4.3 by next year)
There might be a new nexus 10 coming but even if it does the current nexus 10 is better than most mid-range tablets

The specs are what make the Nexus 10 attractive but I really like Samsungs device(s) asthetics.
The only reason I'm hesitant on the Nexus 10 is that the new Nexus 7 was only launched back in July.
If one can assume they're going to update their entire roster of devices (and based on sales I think that's a safe bet) I think it might be better to wait.
From an entirely different perspective, I kinda like the look of the Surface 2.
I want to see concrete specs though.
