[Q] Can I flash my phone to xxx rom? - General Questions and Answers

Hi, new user here :]
Just wanted to know if I can flash AR HD rom (or any JB roms) on my phone.
I'm asking this because my CID is pretty rare and I read that it may cause some problems.
I had ICS 4.0.4 and hboot 1.12 until yesterday when I found a way to upgrade hboot and to flash
some random rom someone suggested me that crash a lot...
------
HTC One X - International - Unlocked
CID - HTC_K18, S-ON
HBoot - 1.39
Version - 3.19.461.3
Android 4.2.2, Sense 5.0
Kernel 3.1.10
Thanks in advanced :]

Flash radio?

I just did the downgrade from 2.00 to 0.98 and S-off
Now I have to flash a new rom (I would try ics)
I have to update the radio?
Now is the old version(20.28b.30.0805U_38.03.02.11)
if I flash it, should I first flash the rom or radio?
which can I use, from ota or from ruu?
sorry for english

No, you don't need a new radio for ICS - this is not samsung. As a general rule, don't play with the radio unless absolutely necessary.
It's risky business, and the benefit is not worth the potential hazard.
Cheers
EDIT : As a general piece of friendly advice, I would suggest you flash stable GB ROMs and play around for a bit before jumping into the world of beta ICS ROMs. Get a feel of the stable stuff before you spoil your flashing experience with random reboots and system freezes at the onset.

which country do you llve?...and on which network?
I'd recommend the radio that I'm on (see my signature)
But to back up what has just been said, don't bother changing radios unless you experience issues.
thanks for advice
p.s.: I'm from Italy, H3G network

The reason why I asked is so that you can get a local user from the same location hopefully on the same network to recommend you a radio rather than someone on the other side of the planet

i would also higly recommend flashing the 2.00.2002 ENG HBOOT here.
it helps with the post sense 3.0 ROMS as they need the new partition table created by this HBOOT

If he's already s-off on hboot 0.98.xxxxx, won't flashing the eng hboot 2.00.2002 return the device to *locked*?

I disagree I'd flash the ENG 98.2 hboot instead.....as that works fine....unless you intend to flash a stock sense 3.0 rom all of the customs work on either.
I know that I'm on the later one, but I can't be bothered to downgrade

Best bet for "stock" JB and keeping the rest?
Hi I'm new with android and this is my first post here, I would like to thank you for your support and if any of you more enlightened guys could help me, this is what I have:
Android version 4.0.3
HTC sense version 4.0
Software number 1.85.502.3 71 ORD
Kernel 3.0.8-01155-gca24d1e [email protected] #1 SMP PREEMPT
Baseband ver. 0.17.32.09.12_10.86.32.08L
Build number 1.85.502.3_R2 CL63811 release-keys
Unlocked Bootloader
SuperCID
S-Off
Hboot-1.09.0000
Radio 0.17.32.09.12
The thing is I'm looking for a stock JB which I understand there are only two compatible releases, that being Asian one and Telstra.
That being said, is it possible for me to keep AT&T ICS included keyboards and languages and not to mess with my radio and kernel, just change the OS and remove the remaining carrier crappy software?
I understand I have to make a recovery with TWRP, but then being S-off what would be the best bet to flash the ROM?
Many thanks in advance!

Your radio will stay the same, but the OS will be replaced. You can't keep the old kernel either, as it will be incompatible with JB. I think you are confused about what the OS is. If you upgrade to JB, you can't keep ICS.
Just pick a stock rooted or custom JB ROM from development. Put it on your SD card, and flash it. I don't know what your keyboard and language requirements are, and that may be better asked on the ROM thread (if the ROM has the language & keyboard you need), when you choose one you like.
If you want stock rooted, but minus the bloatware, you might look at CleanROM (or similar custom ROMs that are close to stock) as its very close to stock, just minus the bloat and with some performance optimizations. The Asian and Telstra stock ROMs don't have as much bloat as AT&T, but still have their share of it.

[Q] Hey, few questions

I have an HTC One X on AT&T and live in the US. I just want to be sure that i am following the right root tutorial. I have Android 4.0.4 (still dont have JB update). I have Sense 4.0 and software number 2.20.502.7
This the right tutorial to follow? :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957193
Also, Do I have to unlock the bootloader, or is it already unlocked?
Can I get the jelly bean update later on if I wanted?
Thanks.

Thanks for the link. Can you recommend a couple ROMs you think are good that are compatible with my phone?
I'm running Clean Rom 5.1 right now. It is a Sense 4.1, android 4.0.4 rom but it is waaayyy better than the stock rom. Very stable and great battery life. I've also ran his CleanRom JB rom and it is great also. Some people have had random reboot issue while running jb. Me included, but with Clean Rom JB I didn't have any. I've also heard good things about ViperXL.

All ROMs listed here are compatible with your phone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671237
Just read through the threads, and you can see what people like. Better yet, just look at the features of the ROMs, see which ones suit you, and try a few.

[Q] Installing SuperXE on HTC Sensation XE with brand

Hi all,
I'm a newbye of HTC modding. I've an HTC Sensation XE with Beats audio branded by TIM (Italian carrier).
It has
PYRAMIN PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT 1.27.000
I've installed the lasted official updates:
Android: 4.0.3
Sense: 3.6
Sw version: 3.32.901.151
Band base: 11.69A.3503.00U_11.23.3504-07_M2
Build number: 3.32.901.151 CL353154
I would like to try SuperXE ROM.
Can anybody tell me what steps to do.. and maybe how?
I tried to find some info on this thread and on google... but not a real guide, so I don't want to brick my phone at first attempp
I.E.
- Have I just to unlock bootloader trough htcdev website or also s-off it via ControlBear and the wire trick?
- Have I to upgrade my firmware at 3.33 or my 3.32 is ok? If yes, how and where I can find it?
- What recovery have I to flash after all from where to flash SuperXE?
- Any other hints?
Thank you very much for your patience
Umberto

it might help you in understanding stuff regarding sensation
now for the questions
1. you can do it via both HTC-DEV unlock way or SOFF whatever you prefer (differences between them ? -> read the above poast )
2. 3.32 firmware will work completely fine ...no need to change to 3.33 firmware (unless you face reception problems )
3. my preferrence 4EXT (helps in SON + HTCDEV case very well )
4. read the above post ..thoroughly

Just one question left. On the link you wrote me is written:
2. Flashing/installing ROM from custom recovery with HTC-DEV unlock...requires an extra step...and if that extra step is not done ..phone wont boot (literally around 90% threads in Q&A section are about this problem as people didn't knew about the extra step )
But what is this extra step?
In the linked thread they talk about flashing "boot.img" extracted from new custom ROM. Is it correct?
Thank you
Umberto

Go to the guide with flashing roms with s-on
There you will see extra 1step
But if you have installed 4ext recovery and enable smartflash before flashing the rom then you don't need that step

Hi,
thank you to everybody! I've installed it and it works great! Very fast and reactive. A new life for my Sensation!
There is only a litle bug...
When I try to search manually for mobile networks (gsm/umts) i got an error after 30s of searching. (my home network is connected and working)
Do anybody already noticed it?
Thanks
Umberto.
Yup, I think it's a known bug throughout all 4.1+ jellybean ROMs.

[Q]Get HBOOT 2.22 with Vodafone_DE

Hi, Today I got my HTC one mini. I want to flash InsertCoin, but as I heard, it needs Hboot 2.22. I've got 2.21.
I found this Thread:
[FIRMWARE][AT&T 3.10] 2.22 Firmware ( New Partition Layout )
But the Title says AT&T. I'm running Android 4.2.2 which is branded by Vodafone(germany).
Can I still flash it without breaking my Device?
Sorry, I'm new to Hboot updating. Never done this before.
Thanks for your Help
