[Q] CWM Backup failed -> internal storage full - can't find&delete the corrupt files
Hey guys,
I have a big problem with my Tablet after a CWM Recovery failed: The internal storage is completely full and I am not able to find and delete the uncomplete backup-files.
That happens after t I tried to backup to the internal storage of my device. After a while the backup process failed (I think because of insufficent storage on the internal SD card for the backup file). Afterwards I used "backup-to-external-SD" and it works fine.
The problem is now, that after I started the tablet again it says "inssuficent storage on internal SD card" and I cant even install an 155kb app any more. => CWM didn't delete the files after the first backup process failed.
Usually I would be able to use my file explorer, choose the internal sd, look for the backup folder with the uncompleted files and delete it. But it doesn't work! The folders of my internal SD card don't contain the massive damaged files.
But when I go into Recovery and click on "Flash files from SD" I see the following folders:
- /0 -> contain all the sd card files
- /clockwordmod -> contains /backup/ with the damaged CWM files I want to delete but can't find with a file manager
- /legacy
- /obb

Click to collapse
Does anyone know how I could be able to access the folder I can see in the Recovery so that I can delete the clockwordmod/backup/ folder?
I would really appreciate your help :highfive:
EDIT: I had a similar problem once and was able to solve it by formatting everything via CWM-Recovery, but I can't do it this time again because of a lot of important files and data.
EDIT2: I use CWM Recovery v6.0.2.7

You can find the file under data/media/0/clockworkmod/backup
You will need root access.

Thanks for your help!!
The backup folder you mentioned is empty, but I found the files here:
/data/media/clockwordmod/backup
So the filesystem the Recovery shows me is in /data/media.
Edit: Without root access I only saw an empty folder (info for people with the same problem)

Where are CWM Backups?

Hello,
I just unlocked, installed CWM and rootet my Nexus 5. Then I made a CWM backup and wanted to transfer it to my PC. But in the storage mounted on my PC I see only the CWM folder but not backups inside. When I boot into CWM and want to delete backups I see all backups I made. I tried also to mount SDcard via CWM, but that doesn't work, nothing happens after hitting mount sd card.
Where can I find those backups? MaybeI have a problem to understand the device storage w/o a sd card :/ it's my first phone w/o SDcard
TIA

Use a file explorer, preferably ES File Manager. Then, press the globe on the upper left hand corner and swipe down to activate the root capabilities. Then, go to the root of your phone and it should be in this folder
/mnt/shell/emulated/clockworkmod/backup
They're in /data/media instead of /data/media/0 (which is what /sdcard points to) because CWM didn't change teh mount point when android did in android 4.2

[Completed] [Q] How To Fix vold.fstab in Maxx GenxDroid7

I have Samsung Maxx GenxDroid7, which has very low internal memory (<200 MB). I have an external micro SD card of 16 GB, but still couldn't install many apps due to insufficient internal memory.
I read on the Internet that if I modify vold.fstab and replace the word "sdcard" with "sdcard2" then my external SD card will act as internal memory.
So I rooted my phone and installed Superuser, but I haven't installed ClockworkMod recovery or any other custom ROM yet.
Problem Description:
I installed ES File explorer on my SD card and allowed root access to it via Superuser. I then went to /system/etc/ from ES file explorer, edited vold.fstab and replaced the word sdcard with sdcard2.
When I restarted my phone the external SD was no longer accessible. ES File Explorer is also gone, so I cannot undo the change that i did. I tried installing ES again from my data connection, but the installation fails (and the phone reboots immediately). I am not able to install any new apps.
I am unable to access my external SD card, so I can't put anything there via PC or via recovery. I tried pressing the power button +Volume down to go into system recovery mode. I see only these options
reboot system now
apply sdcard:update.zip
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
When I try to select the second option, it says "installation aborted" as the SD card is not accessible. I tried to select the 3rd and 4th options, but that didn't help either - I think factory reset will not reset vold.fstab.
I only have the default apps and Superuser now. I somehow need to find a way to get write permission to /system/etc or to /system/etc/vold.fstab.
Can someone let me know how I can edit this file again? I don't have an original vold.fstab
Hi
Thanks for writing to us at XDA Assist. Have you tried formatting the sd card back to its original state?

I think the best idea is to ask the person that wrote the guide you followed in the first place how to reverse what you did.

Please help I'm in big trouble.. stuck in TWRP, Wiped, can't find recovery files.

I was using the resurrection remix rom, and needed to do an update, so I did what it said and downloaded the files I needed, saved them to my micro SD card in a folder I created and named "root". I did the wipe and erased everything following the instructions on that page, and now I'm trying to install the files so I can flash them and that root folder is not showing up! Nothing is showing up in my sd directory. I have two directories; one says sdcard, and the other is named external_SD. Inside the external_SD folder is a LOST.DIR file that's completely empty. Inside the sdcard folder is a TWRP file which is also empty and I'm freaking out now because I don't know how to get to my SD card. Everything is saved to my sd card and I have no access to the files I need and my phone is wiped now and doesn't have a rom installed and I have no idea or way to get a rom installed now. I don't know what to do and I'm panicking. If anyone knows what to do in this situation I will be eternally grateful.
I was able to get into download mode and use Odin to install factory firmware. This issue has been fixed.

URGENT HELP needed - Oneplus 6 lost access to internal storage

I will try to make it short. While trying to install edxposed, I messed up. It went into startloop. Then I flashed the custom ROM, twrp, base rom, formatted internal storage etc. But now I lost the access to internal storage.
So, current scenario is
1. TWRP can access internal sdcard. It's not even showing any encrypted folders, only 2 folders showing - TWRP & Obb
2. Google play can install apps, but no apps can write anything to internal storage I.e. Camera cannot save Photos, cannot save screenshot, Chrome cannot download anything etc.
3. Settings app showing 0b/0b. Es explorer showing 100% filled. Storage showing 12gb used of 56gb.
4. PC can see my phone storage but cannot paste anything in it.
So it seems to me that somehow my internal storage has become RO or something. So if anyone can help me solve this problem, I will be highly grateful. TIA
UPDATE:
problem not solved yet, but what I found is, the main problem is the root directory for the internal storage has changed somehow. By default, it resides in root/storage/emulated/0, but now it has changed to root/storage/emulated, so the apps cannot access it. Now how can I turn it back to default?

It sounds like to me you have corrupted your internal SD card you will have to format SD card instead of normal wipe and then reflash rom via Computer

I have formatted it already. And what's the difference between flashing a ROM via computer & via USB?

Wipe vs format. Wipe is just removing files from partition without destroying the partition. Format is rebuilding the partition fresh. You did not format phone because that would fix this problem. Format data partition and this will be fixed.
I also had the same issue so i flashed stock through pc. Now its fine. Only issue is on Twrp data shows encrypted, i think i have to flash dm verity zip to decrypt it

How to fix /mnt/local shows empty?

Hello, i have a problem with the internal storage of my android tablet, basically i installed a custom rom a while back but the wifi didn't work on it so i decided to go back in CWM and wipe data, cache + dalvik cache and /system, after that i restored my backup and everything went good (app installs fine from playstore and they work) but i can't see my internal storage on the integrated file manager or even from my pc, it just shows my sd card, the folder where the internal storage was is /mnt/local and now when i go there even with adb it shows empy, so with adb i went to /data/media and i tried this command i found on the internet :
mount -o bind /mnt/local /data/media
but it didn't work i still don't see anything in my /mnt/local dir
(and now after using that i don't see anything in my /data/media either)
my device is running Android 4.0.3 ICS and it is rooted, i also tried to restoring my backup again but i still have the same issue :/, before installing the rom i also created an image zip from the recovery just for safety but now im stuck as the only thing i found on the internet was one video of one person that just factory reset his phone and it worked again for him but for me it didn't, here is the video i saw, which has the same problem as me:
Thanks for the help.
Ok i fixed my /data/media directory by using umount /mnt/local, now if i do ls in /data/media via ADB all files show again but still no internal memory on file manager.

yes i did, i tried zarchiver but it shows empty, and when i connect the tablet to pc it only shows one drive named "Sd Card" when before it showed "Sd Card" and "Internal Storage" folder, i think that by restoring the stock rom the mnt/local got unmounted
