Hyperdrive RLS 12 on i970 and USCellular - Samsung Galaxy S (4G Model)

I always up installing the latest version of Hyperdrive and invariably there are ways some slight issues. I seem to remember when I stepped up to 10.1, I installed the ROM, then the upgrade and if I remember correctly, I had to add a new kernel. SO what is the trick for RLS 12 final? I have did this and when I reboot is hangs. Any pointers would be appreciated!

I've never heard of an i970, nor can I find reference to it, at least as an Android device, so I can't even point you to the proper forum on XDA.
Maybe this thread?
I'm pretty sure this one for the SGH-T959 isn't it.

Upon doing some research, the only thing I could find that would be close to the phone you're asking about is the US Cellular Galaxy S4 (SCH-R970). I've also done a little searching here on XDA and have found no specific forum for this particular phone. The only thing I can say is clicking the "S4 Links" link in my signature and checking each of the Carrier's Devices. I know there was a "Stock Firmware" in the international forum (General Section), but there were also other hits in some of the other carriers. Hope this helps with what you are looking for.

Help please!! samsung i897 captivate

Hi guys i'm nes on this forum, i'm italian and i have a samsung captivate i897, i also take this opportunity to introduce myself...
Now i expose you the problem:
i have a i897 captivate marked AT&T for this i have a problem to fix the GPS and to install applications outside the market, I would like you to help me to make clean OS from the applications AT & T and put in i897 a i9000 ROM not rooted...please guys help me, and thanks in advance
1. Read the new owners guide.
2. This forum is about learning things by yourself. Don't expect to be spoonfed.
3. Custom ROM always =Rooted mind you.
Sent from my Captivate. Andromeda 3, Onix 2.0.5 @ 1.2Ghz
I read the guide but i'm desperate,do you recommend something? can u post the link of the better rom and kernel that i can use? im noob in android world
I can't recommend anything man. Everything is good.
You have to discover by yourself what suits your needs.

the new user guide (that i wrote) teaches about stickies! and where to find them!
find the stickies in the captivate general, q&a and dev forums they have all the answers you are looking for and way more.
go. read. learn.
this is really basic stuff. At&t does not like you installing apps not from the market "its called side loading" you need to be rooted to fix it and there are pleanty of guides "one click root has an option to enable non market apps" to get a different rom go to the dev sectoin chose a rom and follow the simple directions or for a guide for the entire process http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=884364
Assuming what you meant was that you want ATT's crap taken off and a new ROM...
Why would you not want your device rooted? If voiding your warranty is a concern it's fine, there are plenty of methods to return back to stock Eclair/Froyo. And there really isn't a ROM out there that's head and shoulders over the rest, you're going to have to play around and see which one you like the feel of the best. Try out a different ROM every couple of days and see how you like it.

If you are asking someone to help you build a rom well... I don't think that will happen. You can go to samfirmwares.com and download a stock i9000 rom, but without root you, and if you don't know how to build to incorporate the home button and haptic feedback fixes, your phone won't work right. My suggestion is to go to this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=948790
They are all stock i9000 roms with only busybox and root installed. I'm using the stock jvh on my captivate, at the moment, and it works great. You will have to deal with root. It's better to be rooted anyway.

U wont need to use kies. Any update released by Samsung will b atleast 1-2 months late than the ones in this forum. And neways, once u load custom rom, kies wont recognise ur fone. Don't worry v all hate kies,u really don't need it in the least bit.

Only replying to that small part of your post, and correcting you by saying no, you don't need to be rooted to sideload applications. SWM (Sideload Wonder Machine) can do it so long as you have the drivers installed and USB Debugging on. I installed several applications as soon as I got the phone, long before I ever rooted my phone, much less installed a custom ROM on it.

Why didn't you use google? There are plenty of places that explain how to root that aren't on this site, which is more an "advanced" place anyways(I use that term loosely, but I get the idea that people here assume you know a little about your phone).
Check out MobileTechVideos, the guy who does those had a three-part, in-depth ROM flash set of videos that explain exactly how to use One-Click to Root.
Edit:
Christ dude, use some decent punctuation and at least attempt to be succinct in your requests. Freaking out isn't going to get you anywhere.

[Q] Cyanogen: No service!?

Hi, I'm rather new to all of this.
Website, and just about everything to do with flashing my phone and roms.
Onto the story!
I managed to figure a lot of things out for the most part because i was fooling around with this for most of the day. Including how to flash my phone back to the way it was before i even started all of this.
Any time i manage to get any form of Cyanogen Mod onto my cellphone, and yes. I've tried more than one. I can get them up and working... for the most part. My only problem is that my phone just can't seem to find any service!!
I'm using a Milestone A853 and i've installed CyanogenMod's 9 and 7. Neither of which seem to do any good for my service. x.x Any help would be appreciated.
You might wanna try reposting this in the development section thread of the phone you're using. Is CM officially available for your device?

Yeah, Both of them are. Although CM 9 in still in Alpha stages. I'll go ahead and make my way over to the development section and repost this. Hopefully somebody somewhere can help me with this ._.
It's not all bad because i can reflash my phone back into working order, but i'd really like to be able to use CM instead. >_<

DONT WANT A BRICK? Check here

As of right now, the roms for your S3 are not meant to be used on other S3 variants. Bricks might happens or a soft one might happen. Before flashing a Rom make sure you are in the right development section an you read the entire op, twice. Until other devs or experienced users find a way to make them cross compatible, please refrain from using other carriers S3 roms.
thanks for the warning for the less experienced users, here's to making a rom kitchen to move roms between devices

Such greatness!
I appreciate the warning. I came close to flashing another ROM. Kind of we had our own forum not a subforum.
I would also like to add, do not use ES Note Editor (part of ES File Explorer) to edit build.prop. I made one tiny change and rebooted and the phone wouldn't go past the boot logo. The fix was easy enough, but I wish I took the time to edit it properly.
Are the root methods carrier specific? Sorry for the noob question. So I'd be able to root using a Heimdall method for the i9300 - I'm on a Mac.

Yes, methods are carrier specific, don't use the i9300 methods. As far as I'm aware, Heimdall doesn't work. If you know how to use adb then you can try this method:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=29175988&postcount=1
Otherwise you'll have to use bootcamp or some other method to get to windows.

Thanks. Yeah, it looks like Heimdall only works for i9300 not the VZW version. I'll probably just wait til I can borrow a PC laptop or someone comes up with a VZW Mac rooting method that's proven to work.

Read my sticky in original development. XDA is trying to separate users that unzip a rom, toss in a few apps, then release it. Original development is for source built roms, cutting edge features(sense on Samsung S3, custom done ui. Etc) so users who want the best possible roms ASAP, without wasting time. It also helps shed light on those original roms

how did you brick your phone?
Did you odin it a Vibrant ROM instead of SGS 4G?
We really need more info.
See if you can get into download mode (yellow triangle) by pressing both volume keys as you plug phone to computer (you will need to install Samsung drivers first)

Is your phone really a GALAXY S 4G or do you have an EPIC 4G like the other guy or an GALAXY S, or any of the other models that people think are this phone and then flash the wrong stuff to it.
together orienh
Its a Samsung Galaxy 4g by tmobile. i flashed the vibrant stuff on there which when i download the tom it did not say it was for vibrant,.
I used Odin to do it with.
i been trying to get it into down load mode since i done bricked it. looks like i might end up buying one of those usb jig to force it.
I ave flashed phone in the past but mostly blackberry's to different carriers.
so as a noob i F**cked up on my personal phone which i have a back up which is not a big deal. all i wanted to do was upgrade from fryo to ice-cream or something better.
Sucks that as of now not given the opertunity to up date software.

"What time is it?"
I typically run something close to Team Acid's CM9. Recently it has been with Hefe Kernel of Darkness, the auto-brightness mods, and I build with TWRP (since I have come to prefer it over Clockwork recovery). I like AOKP for some of its features as well, and find the two perform similarly for me.
Right now I'm running CM9 mainly because of the work on the Aries kernel I'm doing. Team Acid needs to get it running on one ROM solidly before seeing if there are ROM-related things that also need to be resolved.

WOW REALLY? That "unhelpful" link is Samsungs stock firmware repository. Click link, Register, click firmware, search device number, DL firmware for ODIN. How does it feel having your hand held like a little kid?
you know, it snot-nosed stuck-up kids like you that make us not want to help people. first, you post this thread with absolutely no helpful information on what you did to your phone. second, it's obvious you didn't search before you posted, otherwise you wouldn't have posted this thread. third, when people were being helpful and i mean very helpful (most would just point and laugh or flame at you for posting this thread), you don't even thank them. and finally after someone basically held your hand and gave you probably the most helpful link in regards to which rom to flash with odin, you go and disrespect him. but i can also see that maybe there is a little sense in your head cause you actually did use the search feature of this forum and found something helpful also. but that's only "one thing positive for you. hopefully you will learn something from this though. and now i'm going to quote something from someone you may know...

Good evening everyone,
Ok i wanted to clear something up for one.
I did research out my wazoo before posting this.
i posted plain and simple what my phone was doing.
Did not think you had say hey i have a zebra phone. My phone got bricked. yes my fault. i did more research found nothing that's why i posted the basic info thinking someone would say try this.
Ok for the ones who tried to help me thanks but i have gotten one rude person who replied originally. after i posted.
to the guy who posted the link for sammobile now all you did was posted a link thanks but on your side you could have told me register first to get what i need. but you did not so when i went to that link it looked like a place for viriusis, my Virus scanner went off so i posted what i posted, after i seen your post after i post i did what you said and ok some reason all was good. now before anyone replied back, i still did me research and found someone with something helpful not using Odin the link i posted and i said thanks to that person on there thread. I have never flashed an android phone before. i have done blackberries from carrier to carrier sprint to cricket.
For those who were helpful and not rude to me Thank you.
And report me go ahead fine. i am just now getting home from work to reply back to this and say thanks for who have helped.
Have a great day.
That is all.
I don't see anything in this thread worthy of reporting.....what's so horrible here?
What I see is some reading to deeply into things....but nothing said or done againsts any xda rules....other than some non vulgar name calling which was actually done by someone who is doing the reporting.
Sorry but this is sad.
Way to treat a new Guy!.....
@OP
The guy who posted the link for Sammobile is the same guy who "rudely" replied to you. That guy is me. If you think that reply was rude so be it. You provided ZERO useful info. Still haven't. I'm glad you got your phone back up and running. Please stay on stock until you decide to take the time and learn a few things.
OK first off, you need a new virus scanner. That website literally how we got gingerbread on this phone until it was official October last year.
Or you have a bad site open in another tab.
You should have at least looked around the website.
2. One of the first stickies in the general section is the DON'T FLASH ANY VIBRANT ROM thread. It is NOT the same phone.
3. This phone is called the SGH- T959V for future reference.
4. Next time you post, don't blame the guy that helps you.
@hechoen. Just for reference. The website only has leaked firmware up to KI1. You have to go to sampro.pl for KJ6. (It is in polish, and you need an account.(use google chrome for a translator))

Cyanogenmod 12.1 failed on the galaxy s2

hi i have a S2- I9100T and i tried to flash cyanogenmod 12.1 but while attempting, it failed to do it and got stuck on the screen. so i removed the battery and now it constantly boots to the recovery. . i tried a version compatible to S2- I9100 which is not the same model as mine but i read somewhere that it could work.
You will probably have to revert back to stock and try again, next time, follow the actual tutorial for your device. If not you could well run into a problem like this one. As a general rule, if you do your reading and you still have a problem, someone has had that problem before and so you can probably find your answer through more reading. I have have friends who use XDA every day and don't even have an account because most real problems are discussed.
Make sure when you post this that you are on the correct forum, you would be likely to receive more help in the S2 forums, and make sure you have your device model and the Rom you flashed in the post so they can provide more assistance.
