Anyway to remove the app drawer ? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I want to have more room on the screen and want to clear all the apps at the bottom (cellphone SMS and web)
Is there a ROM ?

You're referring to the 'dock'. Just try a launcher. Action Launcher is my favorite.

Nova launcher allows this
Some roms has "immersive" mode where it removes the top and bottom and gives you more screen real estate

Also use Nova free to do this...

I use NOVA and have the dock set to hide with a swipe up. I keep the dock hidden until I need it.

You can also do it with stock launcher and Xposed + GravityBox. I did it for a while but I didn't like the fact that back or home becomes a two step process rather than one.

I'm currently trying to decide if I want to install a launcher. I have launcher pro and not too fond of it. I'm looking at adwex now and I want to get peoples input on the two. Pro's and cons of each.
Have you tried go! Launcher? I'm using it with miui currently and it looks / works great. Similar customization to adw but I prefer go!

I like go! as well but it has one major flaw for me (well, not the app but rather the integration with Android when installing go! add ons like go! dialer). When you get a missed call, you can see the notification in the notifications bar. If you jump to it, it shows rom dialer / log and when you jump out, notification is gone. Normal behavior. But if you tap the phone shortcut in dock and it launches go! dialer by default, you see the dialer / log, but after jumping back notification is still there. Either go! dialer should display notifications in the notification bar so we could disable the android notifications, or the dialer app should remove the stock android notification once event was viewed. Same for go! message app. And go! notifications for dock shortcuts.
But anyhow, I would prefer if MIUI allowed app sorting on homescreen as part of it's launcher. And I do believe this is one of the most sought after features. I don't really like the way MIUI "reserves" blocks for each app and that you must move them to folders in order to sort and that the free spaces left on screen are not used up before adding the next app to the last active screen.
/end rant
I'm not using go dialer or sms. But I don't recall these issues when I did use them. Specifically sms, just turn off default sms notifications.

Camera app disappeared

Hi, I'm new in this forum and also I'm a new android user. I got this phone yesterday and it came with the 4.1.2 update, it is working fine and all, but today something strange happened, my phone freezes up while I was watching a video, it rebooted itself and then, the camera app was gone, and the gallery app also seems to have disappeared, although they both appear on the settings/apps menu. I would like to know what can I do to solve this, please as I don't understand this system well.

Are you using a custom launcher? Most custom launches have the ability to hide apps in the app drawer. Check in the launcher settings for an unhide option.

Go to the app menu where you see the apps. Touch and hold your finger on the app for a second or 2 that you want back on one of your home pages. The home pages should show up and simply drag the app where ever you want it. Move your apps around like this and you can change the apps on the bar on the bottom of the screen the same way.

Thank you for the suggestion but it didn't work out. Unfortunately, I didn't had any other choice but to factory reset my device and now I have the camera back, but thank you for the fast answer!

Google Now Gesture

it there any way to diable this annoying gesture? for me its annoying because i accidentaly hit it when scrolling or simply navigating around my phone.

The Cataclysm ROM has a setting to disable it, which is good for me since using the LMT pie control on the bottom of the screen totally doesn't work well with the Google Now gesture.

I just developed an app for that, enjoy

Google Launcher

Hello all, I'm new here - but have been reading these forums for a while. I have a Google Nexus 5 running Android 4.4.2. I would like to disable the launcher (Stock KitKat launcher) so that I can have only the Nova Launcher Premium. When I was running Android 4.4 this was easily done - I simply went to Settings-Apps-Launcher-Disable. This option is now grey and I am unable to select it. Any advise would be very welcome. Thank you.

Hit the home key, select Nova Launcher used always and restart the phone?
Thank you for your reply. I have selected Nova as my default home already but whenever I revert back to the stock launcher its full of app shortcuts and mess from installs and uninstalls which is annoying. I find every time I uninstall something I have to go back to stock to clean it up. That's why I liked the option to disable the launcher as I didn't have to bother with it.

Anyone else got any advise on this please?

Launcher options?

Anybody know of any launchers out there that integrate Google Now? I'd like to customize, but I like saying OK, Google (as cheesy as that sounds)

Don't think it's gonna happen.
KK Launcher is the only launcher I have seen to incorporate Google Now in any way. It launches Google Now when you scroll all the way to the left, but that's it.

As long as you keep the stock setting of swiping up on the home key to access Google Now, you're really only talking about a second or two to access the "Ok Google" feature.
Additionally, if you'd like to have the mic aware and listening constantly, I'd suggest the XDA link below. This way, you can have that feature available regardless of which launcher you're running.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2404613
From what I read, it's only the stock launcher that can have the active listening.
Only reason I read about this was because I googled why it stopped once I installed Nova Launcher.
