1 yes/no ? is it bad or good ? can i get more ?
2 i was just reading that you are suppose to charge your phone before its at 30% and maintain it high
Hi,
1) You can have more battery life (or less too) it depends of your use/settings, if it's enough for you, it's good :good: . Here, I would say you are on the good average.
2) Charge your phone when you need to charge it, that's all.
3) Same as hello00, maybe on PC it's not the best for the battery (longer charge, longer "heating"), but I'm not sure.
For your case, maybe, it will heat a little more but in any case (even if should this happen) there is a thermal protection in your phone, so no worries.

Charge your phone whenever you like. Even if the battery sits on a shelf doing nothing it's degrading so just enjoy the phone.

Hi,
One among the others: New device, how to deal with charge...
If you want, don't go below 5%... But use your phone as you need and charge it when you need.
You will not "ruin" your battery, even if you make full/short charge, etc..., you will loose nothing really noticeable at long term...
More you'll read some different articles, more you'll be lost
thank you everyone

Hi, I'm getting a Nexus 5 today, and by some reason, everyone in my country (sales person) recommends to charge a new phone for 24 hours to "maximize" the numbers of hours that the phone's battery will last after this initial charge, however, I've always find that theory not so logical, could you tell me if this actually works, or a simple full charge would do the job? Thank you, I appreciate the help!
I suppose that would be true if it were 1998 when all phones had NiCd batteries. Charge and go my friend and figure out what your friends are smokin' (sounds like some high grade stuff).
good day.

Haha, thanks! I will give it a regular full charge then!
Yea, it no longer matters at all. Charge whenever you are near power. Even if its only for a few %, it makes no difference. The days where you have to condition a battery by charging it to the top and then letting it drain all the way are over. Now you charge whenever you can and it makes absolutely no difference.

I was wondering if anyone can recommend to me a good extended battery that doesn't add bulk or the requirement of a special backplate to the s4?
I don't seem to have as much success as most people here on the phone with battery life, and if i'm lucky I make it to 3 hrs screen on time on each battery (I carry around spare batteries but this is still annoying).
Appreciate the recommendations

I don't believe there are any options for extended battery without bulk. You could do the zerolemon 3000 mah batteries. You get two of those and then you could always have a spare battery ready to swap when the other one dies. Other than that, you're going to add bulk if you want an extended battery.

I would advise you not to use batteries by this brand. I've opened up an extended battery they made for the i9300 and discovered that they use spacers to add weight to the batteries instead of using two batteries like the reputable brands(anker, hyperion, zerolemon). The closest you would get to an extended battery is the 3000mah zerolemon.
The battery arrived today and I am giving it the first charge. I will see how it goes and report. I hope it does not mess up my device ...
So far I am using it for 30-40 minutes and it is charging and charge progress seems normal and the temperature also.
I will be back after a couple of days to share the whole experience

Would like to know how it performs as well
If its got a 2 year performance warranty they must be pretty confident in it
On their site it says i9500 ,does it work with i9505 and it fits on original back case ? I would buy it instantly if i could get over 4+hrs on screen with stock rom my max with stock rom is 3.5 but awerage is 3hrs.

It depends on your screen brightness. I am using an 100% stock rom. I get on a full day around 5 hours screen on time with my brightness ranging from 0% to up to 20%.
I also tried this, use the phone with the brightness set to 0%. I managed a staggering 1 hour screen on time while just losing 15% (was whatsapping for an hour).
I don't like the stock battery life as I have to recharge my phone twice a day.... I usually go leave the house at 7AM and come back at around 6PM with around 10% left. Then, I charge it fully and by time I go to bed, the phone already has lost around 40% battery (I use the speaker alot and download Torrents). Then I start chatting with friends in bed and go to sleep with around 10-20% left on the same day (although that's at around 2AM). Thus, even with my battery life, I can't make a full day.
Although I must say, I am a heavy user. I use whatsapp, browser, music player, snapchat, facebook and the camera to take pictures alot on a daily basis. I use my phone with the lowest brightness possible as long as I can see what's on the screen to prolong the battery life.
@hare899500 and 9505 has the same battery

Sorry I didn't get back sooner.
I use the Opteka exclusively and am able to get a full day, but it depends on how you use your phone.
They don't advertise a huge upgrade, it's only marginal. you will not get anything above ~2800-3000mAh to fit inside the existing back cover.
That being said, I have yet to have any issue with the Opteka brand.
They also make camera batteries and accessories.

So you think it is better than stock?
Going to replace my original at some point. I never really have issues, though. But they are so cheap I might as well do it before it starts to become a problem, I only go above an hour or two of screen time when I travel by air (can't imaging spending 20%+ of my waking life looking at a 5" screen...don't know how you guys can stand it, lol).
i have polarcell 2900mAh battery for about 2 months, and I am really pleased with it.
Ok, I dont have stock rom, but compared to stock battery it gave me a great results.
About 35 hours without charge, and 2h 40min screen on
Good luck with this one. Most ebay battery is faking the capacity, if the size is just same as the original battery, there is no way it can be 3000mah, u can't beat the physics law.
But I just got another ZNC battery from amazon for $3.99 for a deal [I'm a new user, can't post the link here, if you guys interested, can search 'ZNC battery' at amazon to get the deal]. I have been using it for 3 days from now, works great so far and last just like the original one. I'll report it back this weekend, if I got time for the capacity test.

Definitely pretty impressive.
So for the s7 edge I opted to get the mophie battery case because neither was water resistant and the mophie charged faster and gave more protection. With the Note 7 the mophie one isnt out yet, but the samsung one does have water resistance now. With 3100 mah i think itll be enough to get some good screen on time. It does come halfway charged so i recommend charging it before use. It works as simple as putting it on and turning it on.
I purchased this on amazon with prime shipping because the samsung website is so backed up they couldnt even give me a date when they might send it.
First up is the packaging. Its nothing special just the normal samsung packaging we've grown accustomed to.
Package contents
How it looks installed
Side comparison view
Bottom view (doesnt cover usb type c port)
Overall this will do its job but dont expect very much protection as the front is totally exposed. The charging is very slow. It does make the phone both heavier and thicker as is to be expected and makes 1 handed use harder but its a phablet so who cares. I do reccomend this case, but it is a tad expensive. On the other hand though you have to pay to play. Let me know what ya'll think. Will you get one?

Congrats man... Can you please let us know how does the battery lasts? From what i i know it does say battery is 3100mAh but on the back its also written that usable is a lot less than 3100. Anyhow let us know how much total time you could get without plugging it back in.
Also can you confirm does the backpack charges wirelessly or no.
From what I read this only outputs at 1.0a which is gonna be reaaaally slow compared to the standard 2.0a or fast charge. Does it show any specs on the box anywhere?
The backpack itself does not charge wirelessly, only charges the phone wirelessly.

About 3 hrs to full from 16 percent.. idk if it would even make it to full if you are using it but there you go.

Yeah at one point I was just cruising Facebook and I kept getting notifications about the device charging too slow. And this was while on wifi with the display at about 50%
Alright, so update. The charger doesnt charge fast we all get that. But it does work well enough that i started today at 500am and it is now 624pm with what i would consider pretty heavy usage. Probably a good 5 hrs screen on time and my phone is at 61 percent with the charger totally depleted, i started the charger at about 80 percent battery. I didnt browse the internet too much i was playing a game called dokkan battles pretty much the whole time with screen at about 25 percent brightness because the room i work in is dark. Just some figures for you guys i will keep updating as info is necessary.
As far as the power bricks go they are nice. And significantly faster, but i like not having to carry them around or plug them in, just one button and im charging.
I think for less than half the price with more capacity and 1.8a output, I would rather have this. It isn't waterproof and no access to spen though.

That could be legit
the samsung backpack charges the phone from 0 to roughly 40% - just tested it with my completely drained note 7 - charging....did not use while charging......turned phone on - battery level was 41% on the phone for about 30 seconds, then dropped to 40%.....
backpack was completely drained at the end of this.
i agree with the OP that it is MUCH easier to have this on the back of the phone rather than lugging around a power bank and cord. however, the backpack battery case is really expensive given the mAH it provides.....
i bought two of them b/c i'm on the phone all day talking to clients from my car.....my two cents is that the cost is worth the convenience, but most others will likely disagree......
cheers.

Cords.....hate having to plug snd unplug. Also in in and out of my car all day. This way I have one backpack on my phone while the other one is connected to my fast charger in my car....
My Samsung backpack charger took the phone from 20% to full with 1 dot left. I changed wireless charging settings to slow charge only. Used it a few times while charging for light stuff. Gets a little warm while charging. I'm pretty happy with it. No cables and has pass through charging if you need it. Makes it twice as heavy though. I recommend it.

It may not have dawned on you yet but that battery does not "hold the full charge amount (in mAh) anymore" is in most users mind the very definition of "my f****** battery is gone"!
With the all the pressure on the manufacturers to make the batteries small and the urge to build faster units the usable battery lifespan takes a hit. Even a 20% shorter battery charge time feels frustrating when heavy users may already struggle to make it last a full day with some phones.
So, "way longer than that" (3 years)…? I don’t think so!
So as a conclusion should I DISABLE FAST CHARGING OR NOT?

I have never heard anyone being able to prove fast charging causing shortened battery life. There are a lot of guessing around, but the only difference I have seen is that the phone gets slightly warmer to the touch both after fast charging with cable and wireless. Not so hot so that I would suspect damage. After all, since the charging ends a lot faster the total amount of heat surely isn't higher than that with slow charging. Using the phone will sometimes make it warmer than this.
One could perhaps suspect a higher risk for fire with fast charging, but there is no proof for that either.
The choice is yours!

If you want battery to last longer you do not need to disable anything, instead follow these steps
1. Charge battery to 80 - 85% and not 100%. Stop leaving it overnight.
2. Don't let it fall to 0%, keep it between 20 - 80% charge.
3. Do use phone while charging. You do not want battery heating up.
4. Top up the battery in between your day but keep it within the range above.
5. Keep phone away from to much subglight or warm temperatures. Heat is the biggest enemy of Li-on batteries.

This might have been true many years ago for on old generation of batteries and phones, not for the batteries and smart phones of today. You cannot damage the battery by over charge, there is automatic over charge protection.
You equally cannot do harm to the battery by using it all the way down. There is protection against this also. The system will sense when it is approaching the level that will do any damage at all to the battery and shut down.
No need to worry, just use your phone. There is nothing you can do to make the battery better or worse!

No you are getting it wrong. Don't leave overnight not because it over charges but the fact that you don't want to go upto 100%. Plus everytime you go to 0 battery loses it one cycle. Whatever I say is based on Google research and latest research so it still holds true. For battery longevity never take it to extreme and avoid heating it.

That is a generalization based upon nothing but your personal opinion. All I said is that batteries absolutely last longer than 3 years.

hello guys.
i am satisfied with mi 5 battery life while using wifi.
but when i use simcard net ( 3g or lte ) , the battery drains so much fast.
less than 3-4 hours of sot.
so i want to know is there any way or external power case for increasing the battery life ?
ty.
I second this. I haven't been able to find any "battery case" for this phone. Any help would be awesome.
Just curious to what ROMs and apps are you guys using regularly?
at getting regularly about 6 hours SOT in like 2 days of usage....
using Mi-Globe Rom stable 8.1.6.0
better flash a good rom and optimize it...
I have the same small battery life trouble..
I tested w/ many miui and custom roms and optimized as much as possible but it did not help.
My case is quite weird that even power on or off, with sim inserted or not and Flight mod on or off does not differ the usage grafic drop down line and time..
Total battery life is 5-7% per hour.
Despite replacing battery w/ a new one the result remains the same..
I would recommend do a complete wipe even for internal storage and flashing global stable or nauget beta from miflash tool......Then give it a few days ...Should work
What rom you use? im used MultiROM 8.1.6.0 only charge 1 time for 2 day use.
Everyday my mi5 just for call 2 hours, spotify 2 hours, checking email and other stuff like facebook, xda, miui forum 2 hours.
Why don't consider getting those power bank case? Those that slip behind the phone and a charger tip goes to the charging port.

I found this. I think it works with the SD820/820 Lite inside the Mi5. I will take my Mi5 next week and try this.
