I've been searching for a while but can't seem to find anyone with the same issue. When I insert the battery into the phone I get the empty battery logo then the lights under the touch buttons turn on and then the screen and button lights turn off and that's it. No looping. If I pull the battery and insert it I get the logo and lights and then nothing again. I can hold down both volume buttons while I insert the battery and get to download mode. I can then flash back to stock and reboot into the rom but as soon as I reboot from the rom I'm back to the empty battery logo and then nothing. I've replaced the power button but I'm pretty sure it's not a button issue. Any ideas?

Dont do anything on the software side, it is a hardware problem. The power button is broke.
Get it replaced or open up the cover and blow air onto it... there is a guide to show you how.

If you are able to flash back to stock, in the stock rom, try reseting the phone under "privacy" then boot into recovery and factory reset the too.
If that doesn't work, make a video

Turns out my USB connector was faulty. I removed it from the motherboard and now when I insert the battery nothing happens like it should. I can now turn on the phone with the button. Guess I'll be ordering a USB connector off ebay.
Worked for me as well

The same thing happened to me. After reading this tread, I replaced my USB port and its perfectly working fine again. I can get into Recovery and everything now. No random reboots and things .
Thanks @chunter2

My HTC HD7 on/off button does not function after charging. After unplugging the charger, the icon shows still charging and the backlight stays lit. I can still use the phone as usual, but must remove and reinstall battery to turn off or sleep. I can remove and replace the battery and it is fine for 30 minutes or so then cannot use the on/off button again. I performed a factory reset, but same problem. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

It sounds like a hardware problem, since you restored it to factory, software is probably not it. You should go take it to get it repaired.
Yep just get the power button replaced.

Good, glad I was right.
Hey guys,
I got an infuse from a friend. When she gave it to me it was all stock and functional minus the fact that it would bootloop. When you would turn it on it would show samsung, turn off, samsung, turn off... About 3 seconds per on time. It would do this whenever it had the battery in or was plugged in. At first I was able to get it into download and then flash stock OEM. This fixed the problem, then I got into recovery and flashed a custom rom. All of this worked fine. Here's the problem
I tried restoring to the stock that I got the phone to before the custom rom was installed. This took 25 seconds and I knew something must have been wrong but I rebooted anyway. When rebooting I was faced with my original issues up above. Unfortunately its rebooting too quickly to put it into download mod. By the time I press the volume buttons and insert the usb it already boots and then starts over. If I do it quickly enough it goes to charge and bootloops to charge. The problem is that the phone bootloops whenever the battery is in. I don't have to press power for it to start.
Pretty frustrated and really would like some help. Thanks
EDIT: I ****ING FIXED IT!!! I swear this isn't a joke... I was reading a forum that had this problem and they all were saying they got angry and threw it/hit their phone and it booted up. Sitting there I eventually started entertaining the idea. I did a quick survey of the library I am in and... smacked it on my fist. THEN THE ****ING THING BOOTED UP!! What the hell!! SO excited. If it happens again, most efficient way is to drop the device on the top off the phone on a carpeted floor from about 2 feet

Am I looking for a replacement or what? Thanks for the speedy reply
psal may be on to something however it sounds like you are not trying download mode correctly - if you had the battery pulled and the usb disconnected it could not be rebooting.
Edit: If the power button is sticking, most likely no need to replace- here is a video of how to replace the screen, not what you are doing but the point is it shows how to take the phone apart so that you can clean the power button. Hope this helps : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WS5I0SpL6c

It reboots only when I put the battery in. So the moment I put the battery in to try and get it into recovery it starts booting immediately. It doesn't give me enough time to actually press volume up and down and then insert usb. If i do it fast enough it just boots to charging mode and boot loops to that instead of the samsung splash
Edit: I have already taken apart the phone. Not really sure what I should clean. It looks completely fine and acts similarly to the volume buttons. How would you recommend I clean it?

I am not so sure that this is a hardware issue. Why would the problem disappear when I flash the OEM but then return everytime I restore to the faulty stock. I already took apart and the power button seems pristine.
With this extra info, it is pointing more toward a sticking power button with a hardware issue still something to consider... have you tried pulling battery, install usb, hold both volume buttons (no power button) and while continuing to hold vol buttons insert the battery ?
Edit: If the issue is indeed in the faulty rom, delete it and use something different.

Not sure how I would delete the rom because I cannot boot the phone, boot to recovery, or boot to download. I did try having the usb in, holding volume and then putting in battery. It didn't work. Do you think a jig would work? Thanks
Yes, I think for such a small price it is worth a shot- best of luck !!
It would also be worth mentioning to be certain you have a good usb cable as well as a good usb port on the puter.

I can't do this because in order to go to download mode the phone needs to be off. The moment I insert the battery it automatically starts bootlooping
Pony and psal are prolly right. Try fixing your power button.
Hi guys, I need some help with a restart issue. This is not a bootloop issue. When it's plugged into USB, it will go to the battery charge screen with the loading symbol, but then keep restarting itself from there. Holding the volume buttons does nothing, so I can't even get it into download mode. Any thoughts?

Try an usb jig which puts the device in download mode, you can find them cheap on ebay, I bought one because my buttons were damaged and it worked perfectly.

Check the power button it gets dirty from the inside and the button get stuck that happen to me when i was on stock froyo 2.2.1 without any modification no root no custom rom i tap the power button a couple of times and that fix the problem for some time but some time later the problem persist the solution was to take apart my infuse and clean the power button and the inside of the phone.
Sent from my SGH-I997 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Okay, cleaned inside with q-tip & alcohol, got the battery fully charged, got the jig & plugged it in. Still goes through the restart loop whether it's starting normally or going into download mode with the jig. What else could be causing this?
Hey, I really hope someone can help me with my phone. A few weeks ago my phone got stuck and shut by itself and since then it has been working alternately until the beginning of this week when it wouldn't turn on. What happens is that the device gets stuck (freezes for 1-2 seconds and then reboots itself) and when it tries to boot back it hangs on the google logo or get stuck on the boot animation. If I wait some time (10-20 minutes) the phone will boot and work untill it gets stuck again and refuse to turn on and so forth. I flashed the system image and also did a factory reset. Thats why I think it's probably a hardware problem.
Did anyone come across this or know how to fix this?
Thanks in advance for anyone who can help!

Thanks for your reply,
It's very unlikely because of the way it freeze, the way it wouldn't turn on, I also took it apart and saw no reason to belive the power button was faulty (feels quite clickable).
Even if the button is clickable does not mean it is not a power button issue. If you have a multimeter, you could check it.
Could also be a battery issue?
The bootloader remains unlocked after rebooting into fastboot? Tried various stock Roms? Flashed userdata.img file when flashing a stock rom?

The battery is quite new, I actually replaced it myself, but even connecting back the old one didn't show any change so no signs of life there. I'm not sure how can I check the button, isn't it plastic? And yeah I flashed the images as they appear in google site.
You can use a multimeter to test the contact points. The power button works by momentarily complete the circuit or creating a temporary short. There should be three solder points near the power button.
It reboots on kk too?

It's very likely the power button issue. My Nexus 5 was exactly like this (Boot into Google logo/bootloader repeatedly ). I replaced the power button on the motherboard and it works perfectly fine now.

Remove charger and let the phone battery die, might take a long time depending on how much it was charged
Try connecting the white MicroUSB > USB adapter that came with the phone to something power hungry to drain it quicker
Power off you device and then wait 10 seconds. After waiting press and hold the Volume Up, Home, and Power buttons at the same time
After the phone vibrates, let go of the Power button, while still holding the other two buttons until Android System Recovery screen appears.
Using the "Volume Down" button, highlight "wipe cache partition" and press the Power button to select it.
After the cache partition is cleared, the Galaxy S7 will reboot automatically. This worked for me ans I hope this will help

Red LED should not show when charger is not connected though
Press power button plus volume up and down hold for 5 to 10 sec it will restart ur phone same thing happen with on s6 but not on s7.
I once had to press vol up and down, power and home (that's all buttons) at the same time for ten seconds for the S7 to reboot as it was stuck and seemingly dead. No led on at the time though. But I have disabled the leds in the settings anyway.
UPDATE!
The battery discharged completely(red led was off),first i tried to put it in download mode and IT WORKED!!! But the phone wouldn't turn on because the battery was 0%.I charged it and now it works fine :| I hope this was something software related and not hardware and i hope this will never happen again.Thx for the help guys!

Same problem
I have the same issue... Tried to charge my phone with 15% battery and after a few hours it was 8%. Tried to reboot, charge with the phone turned off but nothing was happening ( not charging, not booting up. tried buttons combinations as well ). The led is not showing up on mine because i disabled it from the settings so i'm not sure if it's charging or not. Took the phone to an authorized service on friday so next week i'll be getting a response from them. By the way, the phone is only one week old :crying:
