I just found this forum and am hoping to find some help. I just switched from an iPhone to the Inspire and so far am loving it except for one small issue. Some of the apps I downloaded will have the icon reset from the one installed to the stock android app icon. This only seems to happen when they are in folders. I can reset them by going into the app menu and dragging the original back into the folder and then deleting the one that was set to stock. It's not a deal breaker problem but it is irritating. I check the forums for a solution and couldn't find one. Anyone have any ideas? Oh, this is on a stock phone, no root or hacks have been tried. Thanks in advance
I had this same problem (icons resetting to stock green and white android icons, but only when they are in folders) after doing a battery pull. And it seems like there has to be a way to restore the "app-specific" icons without having to re-drag them to folders etc. Interested to see if there is a more efficient solution.
Mine seems to do it after I unplug it from being mounted to my comp or sometimes after a reboot. I also hope for a quicker solution.
I have one other thing I think is odd. On all of the pictures I see of other peoples Inspire home screen the App/Phone/Personalize dock is radiused. Mine is very square. Is this normal or is mine just odd?
Nobody else has this problem or any information?
I have had this problem after installing/deleting apps. I just long press the power key and hit restart and that seems to fix it.

I found that choosing a different skin also brings back the icons. This isn't a serious problem but it is irritating. Anyone know why this happens?
Ive had this happen on my dell when using launcher pro when i had the apps hidden in the app draw. I had to open prefs in launcher pro and restart launcher pro to get them fixed, after every reboot or updated apps it seemed to happen
Hi guys!
I´ve just updated my TF101 to ICS and it´s really fast. But I have a problem with the laucher. Some times, when touch the home button to go to the homescreen, the laucher and all the icons desappear.
I can´t go to the apps that are open (with the multi-task button) but the launcher doesn´t appear.
The only solution I know is shuting down the Tf101 or closing the laucher app, but it is quite boring to do ir every 5 or 10 min.
Does it happen to anyone here?
Happens to me as well.

Same here... needs re-boot to recover...
I only had that if the option to kill tasks as u exit them was checked on. Its under developer options towards the bottom.
Edit: actually that's only the case on my phone. I have the option checked on my tablet and it works just fine.

Ok thanks for all I´ll re-boot it, but will I lose all my apps? I´ve never done a hard reset.
Everything that wasn't stock on the tablet will have to be reinstalled.

same here but may be able to narrow it down.
I am having the same problem. The whole screen just displays the wallpaper and removes any icons or buttons. So I can pan sideways and can sometime know what I am clicking on by memory but all icons go until I reboot.
weird thing is.... I have done a factory reset. reloaded my apps and settings. Its all working fine until I pop the Gmail and Calendar widgets on the screen, then boom. Gone again.
At the moment I am running without any widgets and I have not had a repeat. Do any of you clever clogs have any ideas on this one. Seems to be a small percentage of users with the issue.
Same...
I had the same problem however it seems to have stopped now. Perhaps as a result of my app purge that i did the other day.
Anyway for those still having this problem i suggest you use the notification bar to access the settings then from there you can go to the Launcher under apps and do a force close. after a bit it will reopen again with all screen icons and widgets back.
Guys I think this is the same issue, it happens on my tf.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1519943
yep
Happens to me too,
I managed to fix it the latest time without rebooting, by going into settings, running apps and stopping the launcher and anything google. Next time this happen I will make a note of which killed process gives me my app icons back.
also its strange that even with the app icons gone, you can still click around the screen and open things, as if they were there.
same ...
same problem on my tf101
I fixed this by clearing the data for the Launcher in settings. Hasn't happened since but annoying as it meant rebuilding my homescreens :-(

Nova
you should try Nova Launcher, it looks and acts like the default launcher in ICS. But with a couple functions added. I havent had any troubles with it.
Just search it in the market. to get the widgets to work just move it to /system/app
I installed ICS on mine at the weekend. For a couple of days it reasonably stable, though certain apps lagged somewhat. Then it got much, much worse. There's a recurrent problem with the launcher. If you've gone away from it, such as to use an app, and then return, firstly the widgets and stacked/grouped app icons vanish, then all the rest of the icons vanish, and the three squares on the top right of the screen. The icons are still there, as it's possible to stab on the screen in the right place and launch the app that the invisible icon links to. All five screens of the launcher have vanished. The tablet still runs, as the live wallpaper still runs, and the recent apps are accessible.
Other problems include major freezes or lags. It's common to go to launch email or the web browser only to have to wait 20 seconds or so before anything happens. I've had to wait 5 minutes before now for Opera to launch. Eventually the tablet will freeze and I have to reboot it, but even then, apps take an age to launch, and regularly freeze. It's getting to the point of being totally unusable. It's taken many, many attempts to write this email as the app crashes of its own accord, and perish the thought that I copy and paste any text in, including the email address - it's enough to crash the email app.
My TF101 ran Android 3.2 perfectly fine, and very, very quickly. It was gloriously stable. I can't get more than 2 hours of use out of this without having to reboot; this afternoon I've been having to reboot every 10 minutes.
I've drawn Asus' attention to these problems via Twitter and Google+, and I know they've been told about it on Facebook, but there's been a wall of silence.

I had the problem with a disappearing launcher on ICS on 4 different launchers. Recently I removed a few widgets (NewsRepublic, Bacon Reader, and DroidWidget) and haven't had the problem reoccur. Maybe some widget incompatibility is to blame?

Could be. Mine's more stable (touch wood) since I got rid of both Beautiful Widgets widgets off my home screen.
Guys I´ve finally done a hard reset on my tf and all goes fine.
Thanks for all
Same problem here with the stock ICS launcher. Using ADW Launcher EX without problems.
Some apps seems to be running super fast at times and then others super slow at times with ICS. Guess I'll do a Titanium backup and factory reset and see if that helps. ugh...
Has this app stopped working for anyone else here? I tried force closing, and clearing data. Also tried uninstalling and re installing the .apk.
Every time I try to launch it, I get a message that says "Unfortunately, News and Weather has stopped."
Haven't changed anything on the phone. It was working this morning, but when I tried it this afternoon, kept getting the error.
Thanks!
yeah, i think we are having the same problem here

Likewise here in New Zealand on a Note 3. Fine last night, no good today. Have uninstalled, rebooted, tried several different apks now out there (1.3.11 being the newest) - all the same result. I sincerely hope this is a temporary thing, I depend on that app and really dislike the less flexible and more data-hungry alternatives like NewsHog.
same here
exact same thing here. only "new" thing i could remember was a chrome update last night (could definitely be another thing.. jus sayin). now the news and weather app doesn't work just as you guys described. no amount of data clearing and reinstallation works on my ics. - vancouver

Having same difficulty here with an HTC One, Android version 4.3, HTC Sense 5.0, Software number 3.24.531.3, HTC SDK API level 5.45. Likewise, have tried Force Close, clearing Data, clearing Cache. Seems to work once phone is rebooted; text and the local wx/temp shows up. However, when I click on the Genie widget, I (1) first see a progress bar at the bottom of a plain black field, then (2) get the popup, "Unfortunately, News & Weather has stopped. (OK)."
Agreed, it's an invaluable app which came installed on my One. Please fix if possible. Thanks!

Fixed here also now.
I had no Chrome update yesterday that I recall, and updated nothing today except for reinstalls of this app. If you think Chrome was the issue, maybe try winding its version back in app manager?
But I'm guessing it was unrelated, and therefore hopefully your app will come right also in the near future.

Yes, it's working fine as of this morning's reboot. Temporary glitch, apparently. Maybe related to "Google's server down" issue? Whatever it was...it's good to go now. Thanks!
Mine is working again today... Thanks!
I can't change or even enter the wallpaper gallery due to a Google Search force close error.
If I press down on the homescreen and touch the wallpaper icon to change the wallpaper an error pop up immediately shows "Unfortunately Google search has stopped" with Report and OK buttons. (I have sent a report already).
Once you click either of the buttons it takes you back to the homescreen. If you try again the same thing happens.
Am I doing something wrong? Anyone else have this problem?

Just to clarify, the OP has a Nexus 5? Or are you running the 4.4 launcher on a different phone?

I'm on a brand new Nexus 5- non rooted, straight out of the box. I'm using the native, unmodified 4.4 launcher on a Nexus 5.
I did a factory reset in the end.
I think the problem lies with the automatic backup and restore of apps by google play.
After a factory reset I let google restore the apps to my phone automatically all in one go. This caused the same problem again. I couldn't change the wallpaper or even enter the wallpaper gallery again > pop up error message "Google search has stopped working."
I then did another factory reset and DIDN't allow google to restore all my apps automatically. I painstakingly restored each app one by one checking each time if a certain app caused the problem. (Yes this took hours) I didn't get the problem again.
So I think it was caused by google play restoring all the apps in quick succession. It seems to be too much at once. It must have corrupted something.
Now the phone works ok and I can change the wallpapers and have access to the wallpaper gallery.
Hmm, I wonder if it was trying to restore Google Search from the Play store and that caused an issue somehow. Did you try clearing it's app data before doing the factory reset? I've heard that has been a fix for people running the 4.4 launcher on other phones who have been getting FC's.

Thanks for the replies Yadao.
No, I cleared the Play store data and cache before the final factory reset. I think it did "restore" Google Voice search from my Galaxy Nexus. Perhaps it was that, that was causing a conflict.

hey guys how to fix it i have this trouble too :好:
Hello all,
I just wanted to share my experience with Android 7. It was available for me to download a few days ago, so I took the plunge. The UX looks changed, apps are responsive and the blue light filter works well. But there is just one problem: the clock. The app keeps crashing when I open it so I can't use any alarms or timer.
Is anyone experiencing this problem? Does anyone have any suggestions or solutions?
Thanks, Fritz_F
Exact same problem. I use different clock now anyway... But as the app is completely frozen.... I can't turn off the alarm that I've made.... so it's every day 7:55,yeay ! Help pls
I have the same issue too. Any solutions yet?
What's the Version of the Build? And did you try Force Stopping the Clock app then Activating it again?
Try clearing app cache and force stop. Restart.

Just an FYI... i got this working.
Clearing cache and force stopping wasn't enough, I also had to clear data as well. Now it all works again.
Thanks for the ideas above which lead me to this solution.
