My brothers phone is having volume issues. There is zero volume and if he tries to turn it up he gets a pop up message that says "adjust volume from accessory". Ive googled it but found very little, ive never even heard of it before. Also, if I go to volume settings I see the volume tab is grayed out...not allowing me to access the volume settings. Need help guys. Thanks.

I did something that caused my TF to wipe - even though the little print in the corner said to push the down volume control to get out of wipe mode, pushing it didn't make any difference. So I figured I'd just let it go and then reload everything. But now it's in "safe mode" and I can't figure out how to get it back to normal. I searched the forum but found nothing. I need help. Badly. TIA - sheureka
Did you reboot yet?
When I power on after shutting it down I get that same message up in the left hand corner and it again wipes all the data and restarts in safe mode. I can't get out of that loop.
check and make sure that your volume rocker isnt sticking.
There is very little play in the volume rocker but it was controlling the volume yesterday when I was using the TF. I'm just stuck at that push the rocker up or down screen again. - sheureka
Sound like the volume down is pressed in. it should have a little play in it.
SOLVED!
Well I guess I'm going to join the chorus with all the other "build quality" people. Going into settings/sound the volume down button isn't working at all. The up button works fine. Boo. Hiss. - sheureka
Just learned something about my Transformer. The down volume toggle does not work when the TF is docked, although the up toggle works fine. So undocking solved my problem. Very, very weird. - sheureka
I am also in this situation --with no way out that I have found. I had this same problem - but I wasn't 'docked' it still wiped my drive and stuck me in SAFE MODE with I can see. I have tried the manual factort reset but when I log back on I go back to SAFE MODE. I found this thread and this site searching for a solution...
Ran into problems where my phone got wet, the volume up button is stuck so it's always try to adjust the ringer and the ringer volume screen keeps appearing. This is annoying because I can't really see my screen and it keeps making that beeping sound. Until I get a replacement (if I can) is there a way to disable the volume up key? My phone is rooted so is there some kind of modification I can make in the system?
anyone?...
could you possibly take the phone apart and unstick the volume button or maybe even without taken the phone apart. you could also find/create an app that takes over for the the stock volume control with an option to disable physical changes to volume

Since water got into it I dont know if it's actually stuck? I just think it got fried somehow because it just randomly adjusted the volume. I was trying to find an app but I was unsuccessful, I wish I knew how to create an app.
Hey guys, I've had my HTC Desire S for about a month now,
Today I was using it, and the volume kept turning itself up. I turned it back down, and a few seconds later, back up to nothing. Repeated that a few times, and it kept happening.
I played with the volume buttons and they don't feel jammed at all, the vol. up button is clicking fine, doesn't feel stuck or anything. And if that wasn't bad enough, I tried turning my phone off and on, but when turning it on, it still thinks it's held down so it will only boot into recovery mode. so, as a result my phone wont boot up at all....!!!
Is there any solution for this?? can i disable the Volume rocker??? plz help me out guys..........(i have already rooted my phone so warranty is void!!)

not sure about the volume rocker but it is possible to unroot & change to s-on for warranty purposes(not sure about the recovery though)
I put my phone inside a box.
That pretty much disabled the volume rocker.
I recently rooted my new Gooapple V5-3g. Everything was going fine and I was starting to download apps from Google Play, add contacts, etc. I was listening to the fm radio today and turned the volume down, then tried to turn it back up. It would not respond when I used the volume + button, so I tried to reboot. I powered down, then held the power button to power back up. Although I did not hold the volume + button while I was pressing the power button, it went straight into Recovery mode. Every time I reboot, it goes straight back to Recovery. If I power off, then back on again, straight to Recovery mode. I accidentally went into factory mode (trying every combination of buttons to override my 'stuck' volume + button) and did a Key Test...VlmUp was the only key that failed.
Would this be most likely to indicate a hardware problem? Or is there something that I could have done to cause this (by rooting)? And does anyone have the slightest clue if there is something I could do to fix it?
I bought the phone from Android-sale about a month ago. The only problem I noticed when I first started playing with it was that auto-rotate would not work in text-mode (tried setting it every-which-way in both settings and the android pull-down menu, to no avail. It works in everything else. Other than that, the volume button/Recovery mode is my first issue.
Any and all advise is greatly appreciated!
stucked in factory mode
I am stucked in this "Factory Mode" with these options available...

Hi!
I have this bug with my OnePlus One. When I press volume up or down, the usual volume panel doesn't appear and requires a reboot to work again. This happens around two times a day. If I press both up and down buttons, I can turn the phone on vibrating mode and back to normal. Really annoys me to have to reboot phone to change volume level.
Anyone having this bug?

I'm having a similar problem with the sound. It doesn't make the beeping sound when I increase or decrease the volume, so it's difficult to know the volume level unless i'm on a call or open the settings. Also the haptic feedback has stopped working even though it's enabled. Still had the same problem after restarting.
