Hi all... I am not sure if this is the right place to post but as it might be device specific (but tbh its more likely program specific and the fact I am not good with technamolology) I would try for a solution...
got several pdf books and articles that I need to read some of them have fairly detailed or complex diagrams in them and while I tried adobe it doesnt show all of the picture on some of them... foxit does which is great but the problem is that the screen dims then switches off before I have had time to read through the page... is there any way to stop the screen dimming and switching off (can set it in my ereader but cant find a setting in foxit) and can I do it through foxit or is it via the note settings?? thanks in advance...
have you tried mupdf? i think it's the fastest pdf reader available

*edit* tried and its blazing quick, renders all the pics too which is good but again has no way to stop the screen from turning off/dimming... or increasing brightness from what I can see...

I love ezPDF for reading and annotating PDFs, and it keeps the tablet from sleeping.

i agree ezpdf is good and has lots of features, best if you need to do some annotating or other less common functions but for pure reading/browsing mupdf is much faster, i very rarely use ezpdf since i tried mupdf.

Hi There, I am a partially sighted user who has bought a motorola xoom. I also have an iPad and I have been looking for an app on the xoom which is built into iOS. It's the white on black feature, also known as colour inversion.
I have searched the market place high and low for such an app using all different search terms, i.e negative, inverted etc etc but I can't find anything. The native white background on web pages or any other text intesive apps really over strains my eyes, sometimes to the point where I have trouble making out the words of text. I also use the negative feature on my PC and is a much more comfortable experience.
I would like to know if anyone has come across such an app for android? I really love my xoom but I can't yet replace my iPad for using on the train to read the web because of my trouble.
Apologies if this was posted in the wrong section, it was difficult to know which category it fits into.
This might require root access. Anyways, good luck.

My device is already rooted but I still have no idea how to do it! Any ideas?
Your best bet on this may be to wait on chainfire 3d being updated for honeycomb.. one of the night modes may work great for you.

In the browser settings on my phone, I see an option to invert color of web pages. That could be a good place to start.
Hope you get it all worked out.
Thanks for the replies and suggestions. I was hopeful about the option in the web browser settings suggested but unfortunately this option doesn't appear in the settings for the xoom. Its a real shame re the complete lack of native accessibility options built into the implementation of the OS by motorola.

Anyone??? I am pretty desperate for something that can help. At least until the 3d solution mentioned above is available.

I did not see another topic on this yet. Is anyone else losing their unsaved notes due to S Note crashing? It seems to happen most when I am switching between the three different functions.
Sent from my GT-N8013 using xda app-developers app
yes, crashing for me too
I am also seeing lots of crashes with S-Note. It happens frequently when I change from the text recognition tool to the pen tool and back. Have lost 1 hour of notes multiple times.
I was trying to get more proficient with S-Note last night and noticed this as well. In trying to do some copy and paste in split screen i kept crashing the app. Did a full shut down last night and thought i would try again today. Had not shut down my GN for over a week and thought that might have had somerhing to do with it.

I have never understood the appeal of the handwiring recognition.
It seems to me you can just type faster and more accurately. If your handwriting is good enough for the recognition software to work flawlessly why not just write?
For me it is a gimmick.

I have big hands. I can only type fast on full-size keyboards. The pen actually woks better than a keyboard for me. Also, I got used to a Microsoft natural keyboard. Mobile and laptop keyboards are not easy for me.
had similer problems you could try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1842226
I've been using my Note 10.1 at work frequently the past couple weeks and today I tried printing out some of my annotations on S-Note to an 8.5"× 11" size paper and the quality isn't quite up to par for me to use it professionally. Is there anyone that has been able to successfully print without any weird black pixels making it look hazy? I have been exporting my S-note files to pdf and printing them on Adobe Acrobat. Any help would be appreciated thanks!

What do you mean by weird pixels? I haven't tested printing that much.
Not sure if you can see it while viewing on your tablet, but its clear on my computer how pixilated it is.

S-note, unfortunately, seems to produce quite low resolution raster images. It would be much better if it saved data as vectors; even Windows Journal from 2002 did that. In other words, there's not much you can do other than upsampling. Here's your example that I've resized to 300 dpi at 8.5" wide (probably extreme, but illustrates the point). It's a little compressed because of xda's size restrictions, but you get the idea.
There are other apps on the market that save as vector... Papyrus, Quill, and StylusLabs Write come to mind. I seem to keep going back to S-note though, as the writing seems to be the most natural and it's just so integrated into the whole system.
I would just like to get the same functionality as S-Note. Its so easy to draw diagrams and I have a work template set up already. Can you recommend any apps that will allow me to recreate my work template and let me draw with ease?

Interesting. When I print , I make sure the PDF is set to "fit to page" which gives it a more realistic look, as I'm constantly printing formulas and notes out. This might help temporarily. I'm going to try quill when I get my new note from best buy (traded it for 16gb white)
Hello, why is it when using the shape feature on S note it works fine... until I undo something then whenever I try to do a new shape it gets rid of the other shapes I've drawn and so on which is really annoying, is this something I'm doing or is it a bug?

I've noticed the same thing happening. I found that you can get around this if you will save the note you are working on immediately after completing the undo function. Then you can continue drawing new shapes without erasing the other shapes you want to keep.
So just a bug then? That's annoying..

I have the same problem as well, and the most annoying thing is that the previous ICS version of SNote worked like a charm!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2081866
I started a thread about it a couple of weeks ago, we haven't come up with a solution yet however I hope that it's not too far away. Please contact Samsung, the more of us that do this the more likely they are to realize there is a big problem with SNote and make an update (or in this case maybe a downgrade). I've made a video that illustrates my problems and posted it in the thread mentioned, feel free to use it in contact with Samsung.

Very annoying I will definitely be getting in contact with them! Do you also have a bug with the music play, it wont go to the next song it will just stop and you have to start it manually again, also when I have it playing through my Xbox it will stop and the tablet and Xbox will display different songs?

Actually I haven't used the tablet for music yet and I'm not sure I will. However what you describe sounds more like you have some setting wrong, try press the button at the right hand side of the play/next track etc (it might say something with A). Or simply get a better music app I would love to do so with SNote, but there really is no good option with the math and shape functionality. LectureNotes is so much better in so many ways, but having the ability to use Snote for some task sure would be great sometimes!

No its not that I've got it to repeat the playlist if it ends, I love the music app (well when it works) it was perfect before the update, hopefully Samsung get on making a bug fix update for all the little problems! I've not tried lecture notes, I will try it out

I have had the same problem with snote I will use you video and send to Samsung I have already send them a msg but with you video I hope this will be fixed soon.
I use snote for collage and the fact the drawing cant be used is a big problem.
The music and video app I have no problem with n both advance to the next track.

I'm glad to hear that!
Have you tried LectureNotes? I was a little skeptical when I first tried it, I was just comparing it with SNote and that functionality. But actually, after using it for quite a while and testing and configurating the app I prefer it so much over SNote for lecture notes. LectureNotes is best for taking lecture notes, who would have guessed that? Sure it's lacking those cool shape features the SNote has but actually I think the simple MS Paint style that LectureNotes is using is much more accurate when actually using it and not just testing it. And just such a simple feature that you take for granted, to move the text and stuff after inserting them is something LectureNotes has and SNote simply doesn't.
But the really great thing is that you don't really have to choose between them. You can use LectureNotes for everything but the shape and math stuff (when it gets to writing equations, SNote is in a class of its own) where you use SNote and then Lasso around the item with pen button down after which you press the LectureNotes icon. The screenshot (or whatever it is) is then transfered straight to the desired page in LectureNotes!
Hope this helped some people that think that the new SNote stinks and are looking for alternative until Samsung got this sorted out

By fast, i mean faster at turning pages. Sometimes ezpdf is really slow on page turns.

Polaris Office reads PDFs quicker than ezpdf and also works with multiview
Adobe reader is pretty good now.

I have to agree with you! The only advantage I can see with ez is the annotation functions that are superior to Adobe. But the fact that I use adobe at my PC makes the Adobe app better since there's never a problem when viewing an annotated pfd.
But to answer your questions, isn't there any way to turn off that stupid flipping page animation in ez?

Thanks for the replies. In ezpdf, I checked and you can disable the page flip animation. You can also turn on pre rendering and that speeds things up a bit too.

I haven't used the app for a while but besides that I don't see any way of speeding up the process. Or well, checking your background applications and make sure no unnecessary is running is of course something you might want to check every time an app isn't working properly. When using LectureNotes I feel that the speed of the pen recognition is very related to the amount of free RAM.
