Hello
As I am waiting for my device and looking at this forum I see that we have no experienced devs who are willing to build CM11 on our Galaxy Core. Since Samsung most likely will not build KitKat to our devices I'll try to port CM11 by myself. If everyting goes correctly by the end of the week I sould release first test build. Are here any volounteers willing to test those builds? If so, post me build.prop, boot.img/recovery.img and output of command
Code:
cat /proc/partitions
Regards
I will not be responsible for any bricked device, You have to be 100% sure what You're about to do.
I can test your cm11, but i don't know how i can post you my recovery.img and boot.img...extract it or just send you files? Sorry for my bad english

Hi Guys.
User "rb210" asked me to help porting CWM to I9003.
I've built it from sources and created a correct recovery.fstab with the partition layout of your device.
Since i'm not owning a I9003, i cannot do more for you. Sorry. :-(
Here are my tools to create a normalboot.img and a recovery.img based on stock kernel:
http://www.multiupload.com/5W80N6HOW2
Don't know if it's the right way, because it's very different compared to I9000.
CWM recovery binary is included at root/sbin and recovery/sbin folders.
Read teh README!
Good Luck
Thank you mate for helping us. It would be great, if it works on I9003. We appreciate your work for I9003. Hope now I9003 will have CWR running soon.

Yes, download mode will still be available. I bricked my phone 3-4 times last night while testing the PDA tarballs codeworkx built. In the end he gave me this PDA to restore my phone to normal.

Restore the default image with the file I uploaded. Like I said, I tried some builds but I had to revert back to normal. This isn't working yet but it is a start.
I build from source a recovery.img that works... or so i think... now i'm gonna try with normalboot.img.. finger crossed
Can you provide brief explanation, how to compile this? Even I would like to try.

---- I will add Rom features/install instructions when we reach the beta phase ----

Hey guys,
I´m sure you all know the great MIUI roms. They´re just awesome and to bring some live back to this device I started porting MIUI 4 for ICS. I´m compiling this from source, but I need some things from you - you have to help me.
Experienced ALPHA testers:
I successfully compiled a first version, downloadable here. You all know that I dont own the device, so I could test nothing! It´s maybe not even booting! And even when it is I think it will be verry buggy. I need people that report bugs INCLUDING logcats, otherwise you could also not report bugs. So please download and give me any information that you can give to me.
Other developers:
Porting stuff without having the device is very time intensive, at some points even impossible. Thats why I need developers that own the device! And even if you dont own it you can help. We´re here a open source community, I will upload all my sources and you can comment on them and fork them and push your changes. For a faster start read my following setup.
Let´s do some magic
Getting the source code:
Click to collapse
Of course, compiling is only working on Ubuntu (or any other linux distro). First you need to install "repo" ad then you can download my sources.
Code:
mkdir ~/bin
PATH=~/bin:$PATH
curl https://dl-ssl.google.com/dl/googlesource/git-repo/repo > ~/bin/repo
chmod a+x ~/bin/repo
mkdir miuiport
cd miuiport
repo init -u https://github.com/fuss132/patchrom -b ics
repo sync
Everytime before you start building you should execute "repo sync" to get all latest changes I made to the sources. If you have any problems please contact me! To start building do the following.
Code:
cd miuiport
. build/envsetup.sh
cd i9103
make fullota
Your out file and flashable zip will be at /out/fullota.zip
A second time, we need to work together to get this working, please contact me if you need any help! You could also readd my developers guide to get more information about how to push something.

That is when u have two roms installed and u can switch between them by just rebooting and choosing which one u want to boot.Thats like having windows and ubuntu installed on same pc.
I said init.rc, not init.d huge difference ^^
for example, from boot2gecko dual boot init.rc:
(on the very top)
Code:
on early-init
start ueventd
import /init.b2g.rc
then at about the bottom
Code:
service checktype /check-sysimage.sh
class core
oneshot
Which triggers check-sysimage.sh:
Code:
#!/sbin/sh
if [ -d /system/b2g ]; then
setprop sysimg.gonk 1
else
setprop sysimg.android 1
fi
Then back to init.rc (the bottom)
Code:
on property:sysimg.android=1
start servicemanager-a
start zygote
start surfaceflinger
on property:sysimg.gonk=1
start servicemanager-g
class_start b2g
that is all, imaging having 2 init files, one for samsung roms, and the other one for aosp, then it reads in build.prop what kind of rom it is (it has to be defined!) and chooses the right init file. done
maybe bood other os
So please make it as a ZIP or an change in Kernel!

there is nothing like illegal in this, somebody gave access to sources and we are free to use them , they have more important things to do other than taking actions against someone who is developing a custom rom using these sources.
moreover if this is not allowed still we have sources from maclaw and that would still be better than nothing afterall he is still progressing using those sources only....
this is what i believe maybe there are some more deep stuff which has to be resolved before using those sources....

Well thats right, noob giving a shot at source compilation!
I'm trying to build a stable working device tree for cm 10.2 (Xperia E nanhu) from scratch and well ofcourse hurdles!
The mkvendor script only works with devices that use a standard boot.img file
Well I want to use that script by any means (I'm extremely choosy ) but all sony devices seem to love .elf files and that's just useless for me.
So is there a way to repack the kernel to .img? I've extracted the kernel.elf and the kernel.sin obtained. I have the ramdisk and a couple more files. I'm trying to pack em to .img. Any suggestions on how I can tackle this one?
