Frequency a bit too low? - General Questions and Answers

Hello, on my Onda v971 tablet, the manufacturer says that its CPU may be clocked at 1.5 GHz. Also, I went to the ARM website and they also said that the Cortex A7 may be aimed that a frequency between 1.2GHz and 1.6GHz. Likewise, when I use CPUz to check some basic specs about the device, it only says that the CPU can be aimed at the frequency of 1.01GHz. Therefore, I am now wondering that if this is the fault of the kernel or not since I guest that the "real potential" of this tablet is not yet being explored. So, does anyone knows that if there are ways that I could unlocked the power of this tablet such as flashing a more powerful kernel? Thanks.

No one that owns the Galaxy S4 is chess lover??
Installed it for you. But im not a chess player. Ran it on 4 cores (i9505) and saw for the first few turns values of arround 680 but i think when there are more difficult turns it will get higher.

Thanks very much. Sounds like s4 quad 1.9 ghz performs like my note 2...
Anyone with 8 cores i9500 to try?

Okay I set the cores for 8, although only the four A15's are ever going to be on at once...
Played a quick game (I'm rusty and at 100% that was just silly) Saw 740 once, couple mid 500s, and mostly 300s.
On main screen move some piece then press "M" and select analysis mode

Yes, slightly. Mostly quickly peaked in the high 900s.

OK thanks for the testing guys...:good:
Can someone with i9505 (the quadcore version of S4) please exactly report the nps (nodes per second) from initial position (or arbitrary position if picture is provided)
with 1 thread
with 4 threads
In analysis mode (click M -> Analysis mode)
And also if you could mention your firmware version... (e.g. MDE)
I am trying to troubleshoot something and your input would be quite appreciated, thx...
I wanna try on my k20 pro...give link for droidfish where i can configure it to 8 core

What governor are you using? Check that out in the performance section under settings.

I think CPU Sleeper Dual Core makes the 2nd core turn off while the screen is off but I'm not sure
We tried different governor s but both cores are still on. custom kernel is kt747

Are 2 cores online by default because my phone is heating up

2 cores on is the default for almost every Governor, excellent for Abyssplug and Pegasusq, they hotplug by themselves. Although you can turn on Auto Hotplug with any governor
If you're responding to me, make sure to quote me so I get an immediate email

If the phone is getting hot for no reason then there is something else going on that needs to be addressed. Have you looked into battery usage or checked for wakelocks?

Heat and battery consumption are related to how long the CPU runs and at what speed. Not whether 1 or 2 cores are in use. If yours is heating up, either you are using a app that requires lots of graphics and real time like a game or you have a renegade app that is misbehaving.

[Q] gpu overclock..

Thanks but.. What if you overclock the IC of the board (cpu+gpu) what if i LiveOC..?
I'm not sure if LiveOC affects the gpu , but I know certain kernels do! For instance, trinity overclocks your GPU (I'm not sure specifics, but you can look that up over in those forums). Marmite over clocks your CPU and GPU! Its super stable at 1096mhz/220mhz with a decent noticeable speed boost

Snapdragon Batteryguru like app

I came across the snapdragon batteryguru app for phones/tabs with the snapdragon processor which has this thing where it can tell you which apps will refresh once you open or never. This is a feature that I would like to have. Is there such an app for other phones/tabs?

You may want to consider Juice Defender (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.latedroid.juicedefender) or Tasker (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.dinglisch.android.taskerm). Juice Defender is simpler and Tasker is more flexible.
Thanks I'll see which works best.

[Q] 2nd Core Not Active

Hello fellow infuse users. I have an issue with my phone (it may be hardware, but I just want to make sure). I used the built-in performance manager Beanstalk has with their KK ROM. I noticed, however, that it said only one core is active (only core 0 is listed). I thought this phone was dual core! What's going on?
This is a single core phone
