Hi. I know that this post wasn't refreshed for some time but maybe I will be able to help someone. I was looking for some BT headset with ability to plug my own headphones. If you are looking good quality BT headset you may check some SONY devices. Yeah, I know... Samsung user with SONY headphones. I bought Sony SBH50. You may be also interested in two other models SBH20 and SBH52.
I have Sony SBH50 and it works perfect
FM?
So just to be sure I understand correctly -- this is asking about an FM headset due to the S4 (as opposed to, for example, the S3) lacking an FM radio? (because Samsung sucks dicks etc.)

What is the story with APT-X? I am starting to see bluetooth headphones and other "receivers" supporting this, but I am not finding any information on which phones, mp3 players, or other "transmitters" support APT-X. Can anybody shed any light on this subject?
Would like to know this as well.
No point in getting a new phone if this isn't supported, at least I will have reasonable audio quality through bluetooth if I get a headset + phone with this.

apt-X is a lossless codec for bluetooth audio, MUCH better than A2DP.
If htc (for example) want´s to pimp a phone with it, they have to pay licence fee to CSR. As there are only a few bt receiver with apt-X, they will not pay and implement it (instead they get crappy "beats")
I think, apt-X is only a kernel-driver, no hardware, but not sure about this.
If so, a kernel chef could cook some additional codec in, but this is not open source codec...
I would LOVE an apt-X enhanced bt kernel for my sensation!

Hey there, it's me again. I wonder whether my philips she 9550 will work with Xperia J since there is a difference in the standarts CTIA and OMTP. Does this apply only for headphones/earhpones with built-in microphone or for all kinds? Please reply if you can because such a problem would be a deal breaker for me. Thanks.

Here's something that I found on google
The new Sony Xperia S, Xperia P and Xperia U will use a different 3.5mm headset standard compared to the older Xperia models from 2010 & 2011. The spec sheet for the new 2012 Xperia models highlight that the 3.5mm jack will now use the CTIA standard as opposed to the OMTP standard it was using previously.

I use JVC Xtreme Xplosives with a built in mic and they work fine on the Xperia J.
Btw this article might help you out - http://www.xperiablog.net/2012/02/27/2012-xperia-range-uses-different-3-5mm-headset-standard/
Thank you for the reply and link.
I thought the best way to figure out was to try by myself. So I went to my mobile provider today and played a little with a sample xperia J. My earphones philips she 9550 worked 100% just for you to know. I suppose the problem occurs only for earphones with built-in mic.
You can close the topic now. Thanks

Hi!
I'm using Sony Smartwatch 2 with my Samsung Galaxy SIII (int)(rooted). I want to use my smartwatch 2 with a bluetooth headset together. Is it possible? Replying calls direcly from my watch and talking with headset is my plan.
Thank you.

Hello,
I've been doing precisely that since day 1 when i purchased my SW2, last year.
Besides call handling i can also start/stop/change the music from either the watch or the BT headset.
I use a Jabra Street 2 stereo BT headset with dedicated buttons for play&pause/volume +/-/next/previous track/call and i can do the same actions from my watch as well (which is awesome for motorcycle rides)
Regards.

Its been reported that some BT system in cars talking with the phone, interfere with the BT connection between the phone and the watch.
Making it almost impossible to make a phone call in the car without turning off the watch.
Accordning to experts this is due to limitations in the BT protocol.

I have the same problem with my bt car system. So, is there any way to automatically stop the connection between phone and watch when my car try to connect with my phone?

I have tried to uninstall all call handlings apps. That helps but takes away the possibility of looking at the watch who is calling. In the car that does not matter but it matters in all other cases.
So far I have to ask the person that are calling to wait while I turn of the phone and then it takes about 20 long seconds before the BT in the car works. BTW I have a Chrysler car with Ves system.
stefan
Another way that is working for me is to switch off the watch, switch on the car system and then, when the connection betwen phone and car is done I can switch on again the watch but all this is not confortable.
