I've never done it before but the UOT kitchen seems pretty straightforward. Except that XBSA's ROM is an img file.
So does anyone know how I can modify the icon to show a percentage? I don't want to use an app that clogs up my bar cos they close when you free up RAM.
Cheers

I'm not telling how to, just a suggestion: decompile SystemUI.apk and you will find the answer.
Sent from my LG-SU760 using xda premium
Ok found it. Do I need framework-res.apk as well? I will have a go at this later.
Edit - can't get it to work with UOT kitchen and don't fancy decompiling the apk and inserting the files manually.
Sent from my LG-SU760 using xda app-developers app
Use 7zip to open the apk as an archive delete old icons then copy the new icons ( by drag and drop method ) . If you do not have the icons you can get it from many themes or costume roms .
OR
you can use "Rom Tool Box" I think it's a famous app . Go to interface section and then choose "theme manager" do not choose "theme chooser" it's completely other thing . Then you will find many themes and icons for every thing .
But I use the manual method because I think it's more stable (does not make problem) do not trust apps or UOT Kichen , do it by your self .

OK I'll see how difficult it is. Cheers

If you just want to see percentage got to system settings/power saver and choose there.

Cheers, that's better than nothing but its ugly. I'll try 7-zip and/or ROM Tool Box this evening
ROM Toolbox didn't do it - said ROM isn't deodexed and also there were quite a few files missing.
7-Zip next I guess

I changed the icons in framework-res.apk and nothing happened. I don't even know where the old icons are coming from now as they've been replaced and don't exist but they are still there in my status bar :/
Did you delete the old icons before copy ?? 7-zip does not replace it . Delete the old icons then copy the new icons .

Hit thanks button if I helped
I didn't delete them but it does seem to have replaced them.
I have something sort of working - I also changed the icons in SystemUI.apk and now my new icons are working. However, its still not perfect as the charging icons are still not changed and the increments are only every 10% or so. I think I'd need to edit some of the XML files.
I am going to try replacing the framework-res.apk and SystemUI.apk files with ones from a GB ROM. Wish me luck :/
Edit
AND.........boot loop. Oh well, I will try something else
I had the same problem (increasment 5%) but at that time I get the framework-res.apk from a costum rom (King_3D_Rom) and I changed the icons and now It works perfectly .

Just upload them to uot kitchen and do it there. It is easy.

I'm using the ICS rom. GB files caused me to boot loop and UOT kitchen doesn't work for this rom.
I do have it working now with the charge animation as well (kinda) but still got the 10% increments.
Edit: its not bad though. Much better than stock at least. Increments are more like 5% or less. Less than 2MB so an easy install. Charge animation is still screwy though.
Hi, is it possible to change background in the notification center on a 4.2.1 ROM? Is there an easy way (like an app) or i must decompile systemui.apk and edit xml files?
Thank you
Nobody?

I know klinkerkp themed it into transparent. Don't know how he does it though. Try getting in touch with him(check my sig for his theme)

It's hard to find the correct image, however I won't give up!!
meanwhile, if someone wants to try, this is a zip file with decompiled SystemUI.apk and framework-res.apk
What changed with respect to the normal darkbeanjelly?
Sent from my Nexus S
Nothing. I've just decompiled it, so it's easier if someone wants to analyze it.
Can anybody share a flashable transparent one, working with every aokp/cm10.1 rom?

Yup. You can

Have you installed xposed framework? Get it from here --> xposed 2.41
Once installed you can download the module "tinted statusbar" within the xposed installer.

Hi, everyone! I don't know if I am doing this right but here it goes...
I have a Xperia E, and I am so, but so done of that green battery that is useless and even don't tell me the percentage of remaining battery!
I flashed to ICS and modded the SystemUI, it was an awesome mod, with transparency and battery's percentage.
Why I changed again to JB? Because of better compatibility with apps (more recent) and a sudden hope that Sony will launch a new update.
So recently I had an idea, but my knowledge about apks is very low and I don't know how to program Java and XML languages.
I installed an app, GravityBox, that do the job, but it occupy RAM and CPU time.
If there is someone interested on this and want to do, teach or help, please tell because it will benefit everyone and maybe people will understand how Android works and maybe it will work like an introduction to modding.
First of all is the percentage, if possible I wanted to look like the screenshot.
I'm interested 2 if someone can teach or guide, refer.

there's no risk anyways...since your just editing the apk's ....(worst that could happen is 'no system ui ')
if you were tweaking kernels and that sort of stuff it would be risky...
OK good luck!
Begining SystemUI
So I started doing the battery icons, more like the screenshots, but now I have a doubt, if someone knows this please reply.
When I installed GravityBox the percentage does not change size, I mean the font size, and for this the icons should be bigger that the actual 21x18 pixels.
Now I am at the 36% icon, possibly I can do all icons today and compile to .apk again.
I'll do the tests to not endanger other equipments.
SystemUI testing
I have good and bad news.
The good is it worked once but with fails, don't ask me why because I don't know, I just followed the TUT.
The bad is that I got this "New Android Interface".

Well since I can't use ClockworkMod properly because I can't unlock the damn bootloader, I have an odexed ROM, but when I had ICS it wasn't deodexed and installed the mod simply by removing the .odex file, I think it would be the same procedure.
The SystemUI I modded is from my actual ROM, simply and for now I just made new SystemUI icons and changed the respective .xml files.
I don't know what I did wrong and why it only worked when I put the modded SystemUI on the system/app folder.

talk to nsdcars5 or matspunt about it.....
but first ...your bootloader...do something about it
I'll see what can I do, I have to call my carrier to see how much it costs to enable bootloader unlock.

Unlocking the boot loader is different from carrier unlocking! If your status says yes it's completely free.
Please Google for guides, because right now I'm on my phone.

No! Don't do that! You'll just have to flash the thing again.
@Grimlock007 Just asking, since when do I have experience in SystemUI mods? Only time I did one was for my last phone, for which GravityBox didn't exist (*cough* Gingerbread *cough* 256 MB RAM *cough*).
New Idea
I got an idea, when I had ICS it was also odexed and I could mod.
So the steps for me were:
1 - Copy the original SystemUI into a folder (backup)
2 - Copy modded SystemUI to the app folder
3 - Reboot
4 - Delete odex file
5 - Reboot
6 - Done
I was thinking in a person who has deodexed SystemUI and if this person transfer to me.
I think it would work, basically I think it's the same process, even for modding.

Hi everyone, again!
Finally I found something interesting with gravitybox.
The screenshot without the status bar is like the expanded desktop from gravitybox.
I'll take a look again on my systemui configurations and soon will dispose to everyone to use, see and modify freely and at own risk even if it is incomplete by my side. I want this to be a community project for xperia e and by xperia e users.
I still have two questions...
How do I make not expanded desktop?
Why nobody sent me an Deodexed SystemUI?...

Hi, I'm using HiSense EG680 bundled with Smartfren (local Indonesian CDMA operator) and I'm using a custom Rom created by a local dev
I need a help about the system UI apk and everything that is related with the status bar and the dialer app.
The dev has set a centered clock on the status bar and a mobile network speed indicator also on the status bar, that cannot be modified by gravitybox
The problem is I don't really like the centered clock and the speed indicator, and on the dialer app the dev has set an image that not everyone would like it as a dialer background. I want the clock to be moved back to the left side and the indicator removed, and the dialer background like the default. but I don't know how to done it as I'm not so familiar with the compile and decompile thing
I need someone to help me with the problem, By editing the apk and send it back to me. you can see The screenshot of The problem in the attachment, I will send the files that needed to you

Hey I think I found the solution to your problem but you'll need to tell me if you made a backup before flashing the new rom ? And no, I'm not going to tell you to restore your previous rom. But before typing any further I'd like to know the answer to this.

I don't know how mtk backups are like, but I guess there must be a system.yaffs2.img file in the backup. Download smanager here and use it to open that file. Now go to system/app and copy the SystemUI apk and install it using that Lucky Patcher method. Hope this works.
Or i would just like to say, download custom status bar. There are many themers out there. Just google custom status bar for your device. I did the same.
