Hi guy I have the xt1033 here in nz we have the aisa model so i have updated to 4.4.2 i have an unlocked bootloader .
I have used Alonsoch's great tool to fix my boot image but i tells me the recovry size is mismatched.
So I got another CWM from the welcome post and flashed it the good ol fastboot way, but still mismatched do i need a different recovery for the x1033, or might the 4.4.2 bootloader be different.

Hi,
I have the same issue as above.
Can anyone point in me in the right direction?
thanks.
Hello to all,
I have a motorola G, 1st gen. XT1032. Android 4.4.4
I don't succeed in flashing the original french firmware. I get the following message : preflash validation failed.
I tell you a little bit more about my mistakes:
1) After having installed superuser, I wanted to flash the original stock because the super su didn't install properly (super user found. No acess)
2) I installed the CWM recovery in my phone, but it didn't appear in the recovery menu. After that the recovery menu was not working anymore
3) I flashed the wrong firmware: Android 4.4.4 Blur_Version.210.12.41.falcon_cdma.Verizon.en.US instead of the french one. I flashed with this method :
mfastboot flash partition gpt.bin
mfastboot flash motoboot motoboot.img
mfastboot flash logo logo.bin
mfastboot flash boot boot.img
mfastboot flash recovery recovery.img
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk1
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk2
mfastboot flash system system.img_sparsechunk3
mfastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
mfastboot erase modemst1
mfastboot erase modemst2
mfastboot flash fsg fsg.mbn
mfastboot erase cache
mfastboot erase userdata
mfastboot reboot
But as I didn't put mfastboot in the firware file, it was impossible for me to type mfastboot at each line of code. So I typed fastboot instead of mfastboot. It said Okay at the end of each line. At the end, the phone rebooted
But it rebooted as a boot loop showing the white motorola G unlocked sentence.
I can still access to the fastboot mode and the recovery mode after that
Finally, I tried to install the french firmware :Android 4.4.2 Blur_Version.176.44.1.falcon_umts.Retail.en.FR
with RSD lite but the device was not recognized.
Though, I downloaded the SDK android and the motorola drivers.
I retried to install the french firmware with the mfastboot method but at the first line of code ( mfastboot flash partition gpt.bin) it says PRE FLASH VALIDATION FAILED.
Can someone help me please.
Thankyou

AFAIK preflash verification is done by moto's bootloader when it is in locked state. And the error was due to downgrading the firmware (4.4.4 to 4.4.2). I would suggest you to check whether your bootloader is unlocked or not. If locked, unlock it and try again.
My bootloader has been unlocked from the beginning. The message: "your device is unlocked "appears each time I power the phone.
I tried to install the 4.4.2 french firmware because there is no 4.4.4 french firmware.
For information, I bought my phone 6 months ago with the 4.4.2 firmware and I updated to 4.4.4 two months ago.

Just download for example UK 4.4.4 and see if it works. Always use mfastboot.
Actually for my motorola g XT 1032, there is only the US rom verizon available on sbf droid developer website for XT1032 : Android 4.4.4 Blur_Version.210.12.41.falcon_cdma.Verizon.en.US.
This is the one I first tried to install with no success making mistakes and that gave me a soft brick.
Should I retry with this one with the mfastboot method, even though my phone is a french one?

The Firmware you mention is for XT1028 (CDMA Verizon, as the filename states). I wouldn't flash this on a XT1032
So can someone indicates me exactly which firmware I should flash on my phone please.
k-kuchen, for information, I unfortunately flashed the falcon cdma verizon firmware on my phone. This is this action who brought to soft brick on my phone
Can you please explain me how do you see which firmware version is for XT1032 on the sbf droid developer website please.

I don't think they are labeled on this site. Any XT1032 (i.e. falcon_umts) Firmware should be fine for you. EU, UK, US, DE, FR.
To avoid problems, use the Android Version that matches your bootloader.
Thank you for your quick answer. But I already tried to flash this one Android 4.4.2 Blur_Version.176.44.1.falcon_umts.Retail.en.FR with no success. And I get the following message: pre flash validation failed.
I don't find any 4.4.4 original firmware (US, UK, EU, FR, DE) on the net. Can indicate where I can find one please.
I remind that my phone was updated to 4.4.4 two months ago.
What should I do?
I am on the same page, there are no 4.4.4 images and i'm stuck with a black screen after the bootloader unlocked warning

Make sure it's not for XT1033 aka falcon_umtsds
I found all the 4.4.4 stock firmware in this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g/development/rom-stock-motorola-rom-collection-t2854688
@k-kuchen : do I have to install the 4.4.4 firmware one even though I bought the phone with the 4.4.2 firmware and then updated 2 months ago with 4.4.4?
Because I installed the wrong firmware (US verizon cdma 4.4.4) in a wrong way in my XT1032 moto G that resulted in a softbrick (but still acess to the fastboot mode and the recovery mode after that), is it still possible to flash 4.4.4 firmware (the good one this time) or is the phone dead? Should I use mfastboot method again?

As far as I understand you need 4.4.4 because your bootloader is also updated now. You can try mfastboot, but there is nothing to flash as we found out earlier.
The thread you linked are ROMs for flashing with a custom recovery. That won't help you with unbricking I guess. Because you need a fastboot flashable factory image.
Like I said earlier... lost101 can probably answer these questions better than me

I have unbricked my device, I installed a custom recovery using moto tools. good luck
(bootloader) Preflash validation failed
----------------------------------------------------
The user has updated to Android 4.4.4 via firmware image or OTA update. They would now also have the latest version of the Bootloader.
The user will encounter 'Preflash validation failed' when attempting to flash a 4.4.2 firmware image. If the error still occurs, even with a 4.4.4 firmware image, then unlocking bootloader will be necessary.
Thank you k-kuchen and lost101 for jour help. Indeed my pre flash validation failed problem came from the fact that I tried to flash 4.4.2 firmware although my phone was updated to 4.4.4. As a consequence, I recover from soft brick while flashing the right firmware with mfastboot method.
"<bootloader> Preflash Validation Failed." appears whenever I try to flash motoboot.img in the bootloader, and I'm just curious as to what this means. Thanks!

Motoboot.img is the bootloader. But when you flash stock 4.4.2 firmware, that image wont flash and will give you that error you say. Anyway you can relax since nothing happens if you flash back from 4.4.4 to 4.4.2 without flashing that partition. Ive downgraded to 4.4.2 a lot of times without motoboot and nothing happened to me..
Also, once you OTA upgrade for the first time to 4.4.4, you cant downgrade the bootloader (motoboot) to the one from 4.4.2, thats why it gives prevalidation error... But you can flash all the system of 4.4.2 without problems.
To sum up, bootloader motoboot.img isnt downgradable. Thats why we cannot downgrade to Jelly Bean 4.3 anymore... And we think this boot loader thing will happen again with lollipop... Maybe we won't go back to KitKat once we OTA upgrade to Lollipop, since Android 5.o will have a new boot loader, that's for sure...

Thanks for the response and yeah I figured. Lol I can't waitttttt for Lollipop! It's finally coming to us and we get to be one of the first users.
Hi,
unfortunately I am not able to flash CM12 on my XT1032. Phone is unlocked, converted to GPE and flashed via OTA to GPE 5.0.1 so I have L bootloader. I tried many recoveries (TWRP 2.7.x.x-2.8.x.x), CWM, CWM PhilZ Touch, different CM12 versions but without succeed. The strangest thing is that latest CM11 can be installed without any problems. I have also tried to convert data partition from ext4 to f2fs.
When I am going to install .zip, I am always getting this error, no matter what I've tried:
Code:
E: executing updater binary
Cant mount /system.
Failed
I will welcome any suggestions, thank you!
I think i found a fix. Worked for me on XT 1032
That was my original post:
Okay sorry for that double posting, but i managed do find a solution to the error message while installing cm12 oder any other lollipop rom.
It seems like the system-partition size of the GPE 4.4.4 differs from the stock or cm12. Thats why i always got the error status 1 (installation aborted).
I tried to downgrade to 4.4.4 and 4.4.2 with no luck, always the same. But then i found a modified gpt.bin wich lets you "update" to the old stock 4.4.2 partition sizes.
So i flashed this gpt.bin and then the other files of the stock gpe 4.4.2. After the first boot i directly flashed the 13/01/15 nightly of cm and everything works as far as i can say now.
Here is the gpt.bin-file: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...76&postcount=2

Thank you for your answer. According to many guides - GPE Lollipop bootloader and gpt.bin (when you updated via official OTA from Google) should have not been overridden with older versions because it can make your device bricked. Are you sure that this method is safe?
I am also considering to keep CM11 on my device and wait for official L images or new versions of recoveries/CM12.

I could flash CM11 without Problems but i got bootloops even with Retail EU Stock ROM (reboots on "Warning unlocked bootloader" message). I came from official GPE 5.0.1.
I think the gpt-file is modified because it was able to overwrite the lollipop gpt. The phone booted up and got me GPE 4.4.2 on which i could flash cm12 without any problem.
Works fine even after 1 day of heavy usage. Updated cm12 through cm-updater also. Maybe i was lucky, but it worked

How did you get this?
gpt.bin is not flashing here:
"(bootloader) Preflash validation failed
FAILED (remote failure)"
"version downgraded for primary_gpt"
I was using stock Lollipop Soak Test, and I've tried to back to KitKat.
Now I can't boot to any version and I can't flash one. Bricked.
You are not bricked, I got the same message, fastboot flash recovery and then boot to it.

I'm pretty sure this isn't going to be replied but when I flash the gpt .bin it will typically erase everything and repartition it for the 4.4.2. So... I have to sideload a zipped official ROM or flash it from command?
Hello guys well a friend of mine handed me his phone because it was having some problems ( he couldnt change the date and this bringed him all sorts of problems), so i performed a factory reset and it didnt help. After this i got a hold of the KitKAt firmware to re-flash it (it was already on 4.4.2 i believe or at least 4.2.2 ?? anyway im sure it was already on KitKat, the only version of KitKat i have been able to find is this one. ( http://www.grupoandroid.com/topic/110965-firmware-razr-hd-xt925-kit-kat-android-442/ ).
I tried with RSDLite first and it gave me back an error on boot.img so i tried the flash_all.bat that came with the download and i got the same error, something like failed to check Hab on boot.img , so i tried the Manual Fastboot method and to no avail. IT gives me preflash validation failed on both boot.img and recovery.img.
Im guessing this is the kind of error yo uget if your phone doenst have the boot loader unlocked and you want to go to a previous firmware, and well yeah.. i mesed up and didnt unlock the bootloader first so it is LOKCKED, but to my knowledge i should be able to flash the same version of the Firmware right? and if this isnt the KitKAt already on the phone where do i get it..
Im Stumped..
hopefuly one of you guys can help me.
thanks
For anyone interested, the problem was that i already had the 4.2.2 firmware on the device ( im not sure how they managed this).. then i tried to flash over it with the 4.2.2 i found there and i hadnt unlocked the bootloader and although to my knowledge this shouldnt be a problem well.. that hapenned.
So i went through the process of unlocking the bootloader via fastboot and the motrola unlock your bootloader site and it worked, i succesfully unlocked the bootloader and then the KitKat firmware flashed with no problems. the only problem peristent her ei sthat i cannot change the date.. aghh
