Guys, I have a new Infuse and was concerned it would be too big as a phone. I've always felt like 4.3" was large enough. But after using my Infuse today while out and about, I have to say it's perfect. It makes the perfect mix of a tablet and phone combo.
I sat down to some lunch at a quickstop while waiting on relatives to do their grocery shopping. I pulled out my Infuse to surf the web and look at XDA. I was pleased when I proceeded to reply in an XDA thread. I set the Infuse down on the table in landscape mode and proceeded to type and found that it was almost as easy as using the keyboard on a larger tablet. I sat there typing away like I was typing on a full size PC keyboard.
The size and shape of the Infuse just really makes it perfect as a tiny tablet with phone function. It's not only incredibly handsome to look at, but also provides a convenient user experience. I have an HD2, which is just 2/10th smaller than the Infuse and have a nice Tytung Nexus S ROM flashed on it and it has never provided the satisfying sensation I just had with my Infuse today.
Don't get me wrong, though. It isn't all praise for the Infuse. In the contrary, my Infuse has shown me that Samsung doesn't know anything about software creation. This Infuse has been the first Samsung branded Android phone I've ever owned and has been the most buggy and temperamental smartphone I've ever used. And I have a number of other phones. I've also used a number of other Android phones. TouchWiz is a pure joke of an Android overlay. I always thought MotoBlur was the worst Android overlay. But TouchWiz has it bested easily. But my poor Samsung UI experience isn't limited to Samsung phones. I also have high-end Samsung DAPs. And all of them have deplorable UIs.
Nevertheless, the Infuse is an outstanding example of how Samsung could, if they were motivated and properly focused, rule the smartphone market. The hardware is just excellent. I checked the audio quality last night with some high-end IEMs and top-end encoded music files and found the sound quality to be superb. It's on par with my Cowon D2 and iPod Nano 3G, both of which use the Wolfson audio chip. The camera I find to be quite excellent as well. The choice of CPU is nice: the Hummingbird A8. And the display is nothing shy of gorgeous. But in order for Sammy to rule the market they'd need to allow an outside company to do all of their software creation. I hope that when AT&T pushes out the Gingerbread update for the Infuse it will settle much of the bugginess and issues with the Infuse. But I seriously doubt it. Right now I've settled on using an alternative launcher on my Infuse to get away from TW.
By the way, mine isn't rooted yet. I may or may not choose to root it. But I won't be rooting it until after the GB update occurs.

Great write up,i was gonna return mine then I rooted and flashed a rom, now my 30 days is almost up and not sure I want to trade it in for the sg2,i woukd have to go back to my iphone 4 which is like a tiny annoying paper weight, might hold out for the prime cause it should have a4.5 screen

Why would you quote the entire thing, you're the first reply. You're obviously commenting on his write-up, what else would you be doing by replying? I see this in almost every freaking thread on XDA. It's stupid.
Anywho..
Just root it and be done, it's really not a big deal. Takes two minutes to do and it's easily reversible.
Good write up & most of what you pointed out is why I decided to leave the SGSII and stick with the Infuse. The larger screen has many benefits and played the large part of me keeping it. TW3 is HORRID...TW4 added some nice features & I noticed here and there things that were a great step up to the plate compared to past versions. The widget selection menu and screen set up process is nice...but because of the smaller size screen it seems a little odd because everything shrinks while doing this. I think the Infuse would get much better ratings even with just the upgrade to TW4.

I certainly hope the coming Infuse GB update will bring more widgets. That's one thing I'm not used to with this Infuse, the lack of widgets. My other Android phones all have had plenty of clock widgets and other kinds of widgets in the OEM ROM. The Infuse doesn't even have a decent clock widget. It has one clock widget: a dual digital clock. And since going to a different launcher, there wasn't even that clock because it shows up only in TW. I had to install a suitable clock widget.
Just wondering why everyone chose the S4 over the main competition, the HTC One, and the phablet Note II and Optimus G Pro.
Myself, i was happy with my GS3, and my folks wanted new phones (still rockin iPhone 3Gs) and made us a deal for our GS3's and we got GS4's (they are on our plan).
My reasons are perhaps a bit different than most... I work in TV/film, and have very good eyesight; i could easily see the PenTile fuzz effect on the GS3 screen, and it was VERY obvious on the Atrix 4G. I always opted for the highest PPI monitors for equipment, and while the GS3 was GOOD, it wasn't great.
1080P - Full HD, even if its on a tiny screen, is great as i can zoom in to show client/etc detail on 2k/4k i've shot.
Color Modes - i use 'Movie' exclusively as it is basically sRGB
sRGB - standard Rec.709 gamut/colorspace - again for showing clients what their/my content looks like very close as on a proper monitor
IR Blaster - I have remotes everywhere; for HDSLR's, reciever/amp/DAC's, Windows Media PC's, stereo's, TV's, etc; i LOVE the IR blaster.
Sensors - Hygrometer/Thermometer/Magnetometer/Barometer, i actually use these a lot for dumb things, but they work and its a plus
Battery - removable/replaceable
NFC - I use NFC tags a lot (car mode, play a playlist while im cooking/cleaning WITHOUT mucking up phone screen
Wireless charging - Had it in the S3 with NFC working, looking forwards to it with the GS4. Even wired one in the misc tray in my car and GF's SUV
Color - Waited for white to come out as almost everything i own is white. Im a mobile nudist
SD expansion - I usually have 2 or 3 64GB MicroSD cards in my wallet with other stuff on them; pics/demo reel, movies, music, etc. I like having my content stored LOCALLY.
Devs - Also figured it would have strongest support of all 4 i had considered
Reasons i didn't go with the HTC One
Sealed unit, no Ext SD, and i think its really ugly aesthetically.
Reasons i didn't go with the LG Optimus Pro
too big (i can JUST reach across the S4 screen one-handed)
Reasons i didn't go with the Note II
Low PPI screen (lower than GS3 and actually lower than the 960x540 QHD, 4" Atrix 4G)
No IR blaster
too big
What are your reasons? I do miss the Atrix 4G fingerprint sensor. A LOT. That thing was *****in, and accurate; no need to look or fumble, just press power and swipe. One thing i wish the GS4 had.
For me, it came down to the HTC One and the S4. I know all about HTC nice build materials, and shoddy quality and that played into my decision. More importantly, the screen size sealed my decision. The screen and bezels are perfectly done on the S4 while the screen looks a lot smaller than it is on the HTC.
Also, the home button on top annoys me.
It's an impressive device, though and may eventually get one.
Edit: after the purchase, I'm really liking the removable battery too

My girlfriend has the HTC One, and I had it too but returned it for a 32GB S4.
Resons for the S4:
Colors: you can adjust the colors to whatever you want, and soon perseus will be out of 'beta' for the i9500 and we can have 100% color gamut replication, literally changing all the colors around if you want. I personally always like Standard, I don't know why maybe because it just pops out. But today im going to try movie and see if I stay with that as my monitor is calibrated at adobeRGB spec. We'll see.
Bezel: It's like... not there. I have a nice slim case that doesnt protrude at all but im too worried about it at this point to use it haha.
Buttons: Coming from an iPhone 5... home button is the best.
Development: It'll be popular for years. I mean look at the S2 forum.
Reasons I liked the HTC one:
Speakers: self explanatory.
Screen: No color bleeding and such but the blacks weren't as nice.
Build: Aluminium is piece of mind, albeit a thick phone IMO.
Optimus G Pro: Used it in store, amazing screen; LG sucks with updates so I was like hell no... Also camera is mediocre at best.
I'm getting the s4 tomorrow for the following reasons: external sd storage, removable battery, and the screen size. I'm not really into phablets because it would feel too big in my pocket. My nexus 7 is fine if i need a bigger screen. Coming from the HTC One xl and i literally have no space left with the 16gb. Have to keep my titanium back up and movies on a usb. Getting the 32gb version as well as putting in a 32 gb mirco sd in it. Sense vs touchwiz? I would choose touchwiz over sense coming from a poor experience i had with sense on the htc one xl. Definitely AOSP over those two though

You will love movie mode. It takes a couple days to get used to come from other modes, but now even the standard mode looks like crap compared to movie. P.s. Movie mode has been highly rated by a couple of professional display reviewers.

I am a simple man. I chose the S4 because I had the S2, and because it had a removable battery and sd card slot.
I went with the s4 after seeing that commercial where the lady's phone is ringing and she turned it over to ignore the call. I was like wow, I want that.
Reasons why I chose the S4 over the HTC One? Simple, it's more practical and more ideal for productivity and long road trips.
- I like the 1080p AMOLED screen to the SLCD 3 on the HTC One. Richer colors or more realistic ones on the former [choices]
- Better battery life
- Removable battery for further life
- SD Card, more potential capacity [you can root and mesh your internal and external storage for applications/games]
- More pleasant aesthetics
- Preferred UI
- More software offerings [some gimmicks, some useful, but at least they're offered to the consumer]
- Bigger display on the same sized body as the HTC One
- Faster RAM [LDDR3 vs LDDR2]
- Capacitive touch screen works with gloves [great for the winter]
- Won't damage as badly as the metal chassie on the One over time from wear and tear
I used a HTC One for a week, I end up exchanging it for a Galaxy S4 because the 4MP Camera couldn't get enough details for my needs & the battery life wasn't as good as GS4..
As small as it may seem I needed a physical button. Lol.

Two words...that screen. I came from owning nothing but Nexus devices the last two years. I had the chance to fall in love with the Super AMOLED screens on the Nexus S, Galaxy Nexus, and the incredible PLS display on those Nexus 10. What do they all have in common? Samsung. The screen on the Nexus 4 is nice, but once you're used to Samsung's screens, nothing else quite compares.
After being on nothing but stock Android for two years, I have to say that Touchwiz has really impressed me as well. I feel like, I'm cheating on a girlfriend or something when I say that, but it's true. Touchwiz has a fair number of things that I wish Google would implement into the stock UI and UX.
Overall, I'm very happy with this phone. I just hope that AT&T actually allows Samsung to keep this phone up to date. AT&T and T-Mobile are both the worst when it comes to updates. With Verizon and Sprint, the updates may take time to go through approvals and testing, but they will eventually be released. AT&T and T-Mobile on the other hand are known to actually tell manufacturers that they're going to pass on an update made available to them. Cases in point:
1. T-Mobile passed on the Windows Phone 7.8 update for the Lumia 710 even though Nokia made it available.
2. T-Mobile passed on the Ice Cream Sandwich update for the LG G2X even though LG made it available.
3. AT&T still has not allowed Samsung to release Jelly Bean for the original Galaxy S2 I777 model, even though they allowed it for the Skyrocket.
4. AT&T still has not allowed Samsung to release the Galaxy S3 update that includes the premium suite of GS4 features. Now that Verizon approved the update this week, AT&T is the only major carrier left who hasn't allowed the update to happen.
5. AT&T's Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 is the only variant left worldwide (I believe) that has not received an update to Jelly Bean.
Don't even get me started on what AT&T did to block and hold off the Android 2.2 update for the Dell Streak 5. Anyway, you see my point. If Samsung keeps up their amazing sales momentum, you figure they will soon have enough clout to strongarm carriers into handling updates themselves like Apple does.
Pending update issues aside, this phone is simply amazing. For leaving stock Android for a skin, I couldn't be happier.
I had an HTC One, while I really enjoyed sense and everything the phone offered I could not help but feed my curiosity. I gave my wife the One and used her upgrade to get the 4. I would be lying if I said I got the 4 for anything other than running stock Android when the Galaxy S4 nexus edition comes out. So far I like the screen size and phone size more than the One, I cannot wait to see how this beast phone runs stock Android!!
Hi there how are you? I have simple confusion? Should i jump from iPhone 6 to GS6?
History:
I am not a fanboy of any OS/Brand. I have used most Symbian Smartphones, never use to like iPhone because they could not do multitasking back then. Nokia passed away i jumped to Android, used as many as 20 android phones if not more, few older HTC, Galaxy S line, recently note 3 and galaxy s5.
Always thought Android is more capable OS and iOS is dumb OS until when i used iPhone 5 for the first time. Being Android user i didn't like limitations of iOS but after that simplicity, no lags, good UI, greatest keyboard made me confused. So i liked iOS a lot, but only problem was 4" screen, due to which i swapped phones number of times between galaxy and iPhone 5s few times.
Then iPhone 6 came with 4.7" and there was no looking back.
Now?
Galaxy s6 looks good and i am confused if i should try a change again, i need help from current users on following aspects.
Built quality of both phones are same, both are slim, i have to put soft silicon cover on it, so hardware does not matter to me.
Kindly tell me:
1- Does extra real estate of GS 6 matters in real world use? (iPhone is smaller bolder fonts, i feel it may carry more text in a given screen though)
2- Does extra pixel density have any advantage over iPhone already very very good screen. ( One battery disadvantage i know)
3- Exynos and 3GB ram is fine, but is Android/Touchwiz comparable to smoothness of iPhone 6 (Kindly only those who used iPhone tell me this)
4- When i was using galaxy s5, i was trying to imitate iPhones messaging App, Keyboard and other things on Galaxy, just looked neater to me and it use to have more text in it. Android apps use to look little messy to me, can be personal choice, but tell me if such common apps are less of a mess now?
5- Even i use to hate WhatsApp for android, i had to use Mods, thankfully they sort of changed it.
I know my post can be little bit crazy, but any input can be useful.
Thanks in Advance

For me at least YOU MUST change the iphone 6 with a s6
You feel the screen of the s6 way WAY way better than iphone
Due to new touchwiz and 3gb ram, the firmware does not have any lag at least for me. S6 doesn't know the word LAG
The whole firmware is way better more CONCENTRATED
I don't use Whatsapp so I can't tell you anything about it.
Anyway, I hope I covered you

If you have changed phones as often as you say you have, I don't think it matters what phone you get as you will just jump to another phone soon anyways.
I would stick with an iphone. If you have a crazy love of iphone messaging apps and god forbid the awful Apple keyboard which is the worst and least intuitive i've ever used, you'll never get used to Android.
1. I haven't understand the question, sorry..
2. Some people sees a different, actually, im not.
3. I have nova launcher and it actually fast, i dont know in comparison to iphone 6.
4. Material design is just beautiful.
5. whatsmapp is actually genius. You can do anything.
Well, you can see i have problem with changing phones often, i may not be the only one here, who likes phones and want to keep a good one, every one has different needs though, even though i really want to have a phone to use it for at least two years if not more, may be this iPhone 6 can last long, when i had iPhone 5/5s, it was too small, Note 3, it was too big, galaxy s5, how should i glorify that, Nexus 5 was best Android phone ever, while using that i never missed iPhone, it was smooth and i was happy, then it started dropping signals, i was forced to quit, anyways we are talking something else here.
I don't have crazy love for iPhone messaging App, though i prefer it over any Android messaging App, even though it has flaws like i can't change bubble color. For keyboard, i know there are two kind of people, one who like iOS keyboard, one who hate it, its personal preference i guess too, wish i could take that keyboard to Android, like i use it without even word prediction feature, for me it auto corrects very well. i Should stick, may be.
Well thanks you covered it well, i will go to market to give it a hands on. ThANKS AGAIN
Material design is good, but touchwiz dont have stock material design that's my biggest hurdle, and hurdle of many. Skin seems to be not much different in real world. WhatsApp is better now after material design update, before that it was like software of 1990.
Stay with apple.

I don't know why people complain about having touchwiz skin.. Without it there would be no fingerprint scanner software, dual window, gestures and etc. As for your question you might want to stick to iOS, if you are perfectly fine with how it operates. I'm a fan of both Android and iOS, and used both for many years. A part of me regrets not getting the iPhone because I know any software issues would get patched within weeks not months. Accessory support, and software support, you'll be getting software updates till your phone can't handle it, and finally battery life of standby which is still unrivaled IMO. But I part of me would've also regretted getting an iPhone since that phone has so many limitations like as simple as sharing files, its limited. Files you've downloaded would be tied to that app. Can't even delete pictures on the go when it came from your PC/Mac. Also the lack of features you get compared with Android. All in all in the end it comes down to user preferences.

Hey there how are you? Well touchwiz? It's cartoonish. Colours hurt eyes. It has big uneven style icons. Non symmetrical objects. Different apps are different. Even messaging app has such huge bubbles like doremo cartoons. You can say we can change them. But how much change. How much refinement. Refining rooting modifying everything our self? Then what Samsung and company is doing? Finger prints? Samsung can implement them without touchwiz by small driver app. Dual window can also be implemented without touchwiz even though I yet to use it once on my last Galaxy phones.
You talk about file sharing? In my daily life I don't find occasions when I have to share file. So just for file sharing. I can't give up other ease and smoothness.
So just file sharing can't convince me to switch over. Kindly tell if touchwiz is as smooth and lag free as iOS. Then sharing a file or song easily must be good too.
About lack of features? There must be few features which iOS may have over android. Like that of unified settings, back ground data activity can be controlled and few others too.
So if Galaxy this time around is smooth enough. I must give a try too. Not because of file sharing snd some
Other things. I feel.

Android OS still got lots more function and mods but the problem is that mostly likely you will need root to enjoy it so no more warranty. One of the app I love is tasker but many features need root to enable. The camera on S6 is far better than Iphone6 though IP6 is already very great.
iOS the OS isn't great but the app store is, they still owned the most high quality apps there.
So it really depends either you need a OS more, or you need more apps. The best is to get both Android and iOS if you have money. Personally, I'm only a light user so I don't need many apps but I need tasker and camera more so Android is the only choice to me.
There's your answer. You obviously like iOS more so just stay. No one is convincing you to switch. We simply gave our opinions on why we chose a certain phone. I came from an iphone before this, I was Android before the iphone. Every 1 to 2 years I switch between Android and iOS.You say Samsung could implement an app or drivers for features, but look at it this way, every corner of the galaxy s6 has its own features, from notification bar to your dialer app. Might as well make it a skin and hide it within the system otherwise you'll be seeing more than 100 apps trying to run these features.
Unified System Settings( all in one place) vs Unified Storage( any app has access and able to use whatever you downloaded or put to you memory) I chose the latter, I mean how often do I find myself in system settings daily? The theme engine does change a lot of the look unfortunately not much themes at the moment... If you want to actually see some of the features the galaxy s6 offers here's a video...since you already know what iOS has. BTW, I'm not trying to make you switch its really up to if you care for what Android offers. I'll be back in iOS for the iPhone 7.

Well. You must be right about camera. But you may have noticed. I never mentioned camera in my post. as I don't use camera much. iOS well I can't say if it's great if not. But my main concern was even apps like espn cric info and Twitter and even Facebook are far more smooth on iOS than on android. That's what I feel. You people can feel otherwise.
Plus I want to know about features which iPhone lacks and which matters. Features like dual windows is not useful for me. File sharing is one useful feature but since I don't find much occasions so I can live without it. But it is useful feature nevertheless. What are features are like this?
I switched from the iPhone 6 to the S6.
Do I miss my iPhone sometimes? Kinda
Did I make the right decision? For me it's a yes.
Really depends on your use case. The iPhone is a great phone. It just works without any hiccup. The S6 feels like a pocket computer, it does everything the iPhone does and more but it's less elegant and sometimes doesn't do it as well.
One of the reason I switched to the S6 is that I can't stand having to encode videos before I put them on the phone. I watch lots of videos so on android I just drag and drop, takes less than 5 minutes. However, on the iPhone it takes several hours to encode and I still have to use iTunes to transfer.
Also the camera. It's better than the one on the iPhone.
So...
1. If real estate is all you care about, yes. But I care about one handed usability as well and the smaller iPhone screen is the one I prefer.
2. Yes. The S6 screen is sharper. Not significantly sharper, but noticeably sharper. Colour accuracy is much better on the iPhone tho, not a fan of the S6's saturated display. The Amoled screen is much better at power saving compared to LCD since black pixels switch off. I use acdisplay on my S6 which is like a Moto Display rip off, this would suck lots of juice on an LCD but not amoled. Also, since the black pixels are literally off, contrast is simply stunning. Especially in the dark.
3. Short answer, almost. For my case I would say it is just as fast as my iPhone. But, if you're a lazy user and don't bother to remove the crap in your phone, the iPhone will be a smoother device in the long run. If you take care of your device I would say an android phone ages better. (My G2 is a testament to that)
5. Whatsapp for android received an overhaul and the ui imo is much better.

Controversial as it maybe but if you like ios and apple hardware I'd not switch to the s6 - yes the screen is great, the build is nice and the camera is excellent. But nothing is worth switching platform for in my opinion.
I came from a nexus device and miss that too, I like my s6 I don't love it - and that's purely down to the software experience.

You are not making me switch, we are talking here to share our point of view only, thanks for the video, i will see it, we all know every phone and OS has give and take, its only what you want to give up and what you want to take, and hopefully soon we can have best of both worlds. Themes are essential in Android and i don't being open and costamizable OS why themes were only for root and mod people, So now S6 have it, its good. You may agree with me Android demands lots of mods and stuff, and the first reason i switched to iPhone and refuse to even try jailbreak because i was feeling little tired of it. At the end it comes down to what a person feel better with.
This will probably a rant, but I don't really want it to be a rant, I like discussions better I really do. So I will talk about some of the reasons to support my claim in the title. If you feel like it please tell me how you feel about this situation.
So I've been using the Galaxy S7 Edge Exynos version since it came out, and before that the S5, and before that HTC One X. To be honest I almost went for the iPhone 6s because I was just sick and tired of all the software problems with the S5, background apps constantly draining battery and there's nothing you can do because most of the time it's Google Play Services. I was like, ok this time I'm moving over to Apple, but then the S7 came out with the curved screen and waterproofness and all that good stuff. I was seduced and got the S7 edge instead.
Today I don't regret my decision back then, I still like how the S7 matches up against the iPhone 6s. I love how it's waterproof because I like to wash it once in a while, it's a stupid reason but whatever... I love the screen and how it's impossible to see any pixels. I love the battery life (except the times when an app mysteriously drains battery in sleep). And I love the camera performance. However, with iPhone 7 coming out, the tides are turning fast.
Areas the iPhone is better than any android phone
1. The iPhone 7 is faster than any Android phone, and I don't see Android catching up. The single core performance of the A10 is just off the charts, nobody is even close to it, and nobody will be in the foreseeable future.
2. The iPhone 7 now has wide gamut display with ambient lighting awareness. While android fanboys are still obsessing with MOAR PIXELS. While I agree the iPhone COULD use more pixels, it's not a significant improvement going from 1080p to 2k. But it is a big improvement going from dumb static colors, which look harsh and terribly blue under most indoor lighting conditions, to dynamic and natural colors on the iPhone 7 and iPad Pro.
3. Android still has no high precision vibration motor like the Taptic Engine. The increase in precision delivers a qualitative change in how vibration helps UI experience. Android is still stuck with ancient rotational motors that can only give one type of long continuous vibration. I haven't tried the iPhone 7 home button. But the static trackpads on newer MacBooks are amazing, like you swear it's a perfect button with precisely the same actuation force everywhere, except they're static and you're not actually pressing anything down.
In comparison, capacitive buttons suck because they require no force to activate and it's easy to activate by accident. Hardware buttons are ok but the long button on Samsung phones can fail to activate when you press the side and not the centre.
4. Sapphire. I don't know if people forgot about it or what, the iPhone has sapphire camera cover glass ladies and gentlemen, did we just forget about that? Some Android manufacturers like Sony for some reason still think it's a good idea to use plastic. The durability of the iPhone camera hump is just much more reliable. Also the Home button is sapphire. Why is that important? Well because if you have hard dust particles on your phone, it won't immediately scratch unless force is applied, like when you press a button. This makes the buttons more vulnerable to scratches. The S7 still has plastic buttons, mine is already scratched up.
5. Actual hardware-based features, rather than software hacks. The perfect example for this is the selfie flash. While Android phones have been doing it for a long time, none has a custom display driver chip like the iPhone has. Why? Well because they can't afford it, Android phones use off-the-shelf components as much as possible to reduce cost. When a selfie flash is really needed, like with some Chinese phones, they just mount LED flashes in the front, which makes the front face of the phone ugly.
Another example of this is 3D touch. When this came out many Android fanboys were like, oh why can't you just long-press to do the same thing? Other examples include the aforementioned Taptic engine, dual tone flash, decent DAC and amp for headphone output, Multiple RGB ambient light sensors, and chip-based fingerprint encryption.
6. Honest, sincere software updates. My S7 Edge still has no palm rejection. Enough said. While the iPhone 5 can run the latest iOS 10.
7. Higher quality apps from the App Store. Tighter control over what apps are allowed and not allowed to do. Peace of mind that no app will drain your battery in the background.
8. Gaming performance. the iPhone not only has the fastest GPU, it also has Metal which is actually used by devs. While Android has Vulcan, it's pointless because nobody uses it anyway. Also most android apps are designed for mid-range android phones, which are much much slower than iPhones.
9. Design. As pretty as the S7 Edge is, it cannot match the attention to detail like the iPhone. The speaker holes aren't chamfered, the holes don't aline properly and it looks stupid. the USB port isn't centred which also looks stupid. When the best of Android can't compete with the iPhone, I think it is safe to assume no other Android flagship will come close in a long time. Also, the clock icon actually moves, so does the calendar.
10. Apple Watch. Android wear watches are just too big, they're gigantic, wtf guys? make a smaller watch! I have the Gear S2, it's great it's barely small enough, but it is also the smallest non-Apple smartwatch. Again, while the S2 looks great from a distance with the round screen and stuff, it's not water proof to 50 meters, you have the ancient and really bad classic watch band system which is impossible to install and uninstall unless you only use the band Samsung gives you. And there is no speaker, and the OS is much much much less powerful than Watch OS.
Areas where the iPhone is strong, but not necessarily the best
1. Sound quality. Yes the LG V10, V20 and a couple of Chinese phones have better sound quality than the iPhone. But most android flagships still suck in this department. Please don't say Viper, it's exactly the problem I was talk about. Software hacks will never be as effective as purposeful and quality hardware. When you have a weak ****ty amp no software will allow it to drive good headphones.
2. Screen. While we can all agree that Samsung has better screens, the same can't be said of other phones. Mostly because of ****ty calibration. Most android phones are horribly blue, with super high color temperature. Now with the iPhone 7, apple has two screen features Samsung doesn't namely wide gamut with proper color profile management, and awareness of ambient lighting condition.
3. Water proof. At this point only Samsung and Sony have the expertise to do this.
4. No headphone jack. I actually like this, even though I use a 3.5mm headphone. It's just more beautiful in design. A Chinese phone also did this a few months before to try to steal Apple's thunder so it's no longer exclusive to Apple. How do you listen to music while charging? Well there will always be some down sides to progress, the answer is simply you can't, not without a dongle of some sort. I do worry about the quality of the DAC in the adaptor they give you.
5. Battery life. the iPhone now has some of the longest battery life, other than crazy designs with like 5000mha batteries. Increasing battery size is just not the right way to increase battery life. Apple does the right thing by improving efficiency instead. Because bigger battery takes longer to charge, and using quick charge reduces battery lifespan, bigger battery also doesn't reduce power draw, which causes heating problems. Where as increased efficiency has no down sides (other than price, cost and difficulty).
6. Hardware silence switch. WTF Android manufacturers!? It's so useful! have one of these please! Why not! Because it doesn't look badass on the spec sheet?
Areas where Android is ahead
1. I am serious here, this has been a big problem for me for a long time. You can't freely arrange the icons in iOS. I get why Apple is doing this, because most people suck at arranging their home screens, most people are not good artists or designers. If you give them freedom they will just make their phone look lame and stupid. While I can agree with that decision from their perspective, I still wish I can customize my home screen.
2. No file system. So frustrating, so annoying. While I also hate how messy the android file system is, with all the apps making random folders everywhere it also bugs me as hell. Why isn't there a middle ground? Have a simple root directory with four folders that say Camera, Pictures, Music and Documents, with NO other folders? This is getting better with iCloud access and stuff so yea, it's not as bad as before.
The problem with Android at the end of the day, is there is no single device that can do enough things better than the iPhone. The iPhone is either the best or almost the best in just so many categories. You can get the V20 for best sound quality yes, you get no waterproofness, no stunning design, no best screen. You can get the Note 7, but you get bad sound quality, no new camera features, and bad software updates. You can get the Nexus 6P for good updates, but you get ****ty plastic construction (with metal shell), really bad sound quality, bad screen, and outdated camera.
Any argument someone makes to me about iPhones gets countered with one single word:
iTunes.
If Apple would give us a proper navigable file system (WTF is wrong with drag-and-drop?) and the ability to customize the homescreen beyond wallpaper and where to put icons in that boring-ass grid, I'd be more interested. Customizable interface (ie: launcher), on-screen widgets, and the ability to use storage as STORAGE, and I'd be interested.
The iPhone is fine if you're looking for a smartphone. My Androids are computers I can fit in my pocket, that can do all sorts of things an iPhone can't.
And iTunes is the worst. Just awful.
This is an Android development/discussion site, not iPhone.

Hi All,
I am thinking of buying the Fold 2 as I love the form factor but have always been wary of Samsung's skin in the past. I have owned a Note 10+ for a month (as well as other Samsungs in the past) so have used Touchwiz/OneUI and have hated the cartoonish UI as well as the penchant for duplicate apps. I am using a Pixel 5 for now as I enjoy the simple, basic Android experience.
To those using the Fold 2, how easy is it to get rid of the duplicate apps and how easy is it to "Pixelify" the overall experience? As for OneUI 3.0, are there any major changes expected with it?
Thanks in advance!
I hated TouchWiz and OneUI myself. I been nexus, pixel or as close to aosp as possible for last 10 years. I think for this case of foldable its different. OneUI actually has benefits such as samsung still makes tablets and shows using fold 2. All the OEMs release builds pretty quick anymore which is great for us consumers. At the end of day its still running android and android itself is great. Also check out at a glance for kwgt app on Google play store. Give you the pixel at a glance and u can customize the front screen and inner screen widget separate.

Thanks! I've ordered one over the weekend and hopefully should be here this week. I'll try out your suggestion for KWGT.
