Mobogenie official announcement - Security Discussion

As many of you I have been suffering from the constant spam of Mobogenie app, forcing downloads on both of my Android devices. What concerns me is the easy way this guys can skip us, the users, to downooad something we don't want, which by definition its called SPAM (so I guess Playstore and Android guys should take care of)
Nether ways I find this official announcement from the Mobogenie staff: http://blog.mobogenie.com/mobogenie/news/a-message-from-mobogenie-support-team/ ( sorry for not placing the hyperlink but this tablet messes with thr selection tools)
Complete text:
"We have been made to understand that some of our users have been inconvenienced by the automatic download of Mobogenie on to their PCs. While it has never been our intention to spam any user, we would like to apologise to them for the same. Having learnt that there was a technical issue with one of our promotional arms, we have tried our best to fix it at the earliest possible.
Team Mobogenie keeps a close tab on all its promotions, and recommends the download of the Mobogenie application only from reliable sources such as Google Play, Mobogenie.com and other partner networks. We ensure that there shall be no more inconvenience caused to any Android user in future.
If you face this problem or anything similar again, please do report it with the following:
1. A screenshot of the site you are visiting
2. A website / app / popup that forced you to install Mobogenie automatically
3. Any other method that you suspect made you install Mobogenie
Write in to us at [email protected]. We also welcome your feedback and questions on your experience using the application.
Thank you.
Team Mobogenie"
What do you guys think about ti? Should we take some action at their social networks such as Tweeter so on?
Thanks

+1 stop this.I never will install this even if it is the best app.Your behavior is bully.

It's unacceptable this continuous spam and hijack of the web from this nonsense app.
Mobogenie is a pirate of the web that needs to be stopped and the people behind this app deserve nothing but being sent to prison.
I detest you mobogenie

Thank GOD they realised that :/

App Testing for the Xoom Platform

Hello, I am in the mood to do some testing with upcoming / existing applications and how they perform and operate on the Motorola Xoom specifically.
I will install your app, perform required testing and upload video response so that you as a developer can see how the software is really performing on an actual device and not in an emulator.
Feel free to link your apps market link, or PM me about testing.
I will do this type of testing as a gift to the community and its developers.
Bring it on!

If you want app testing you better off going to the Xoom thread. This is a good place for it also.
I largely consider the Xoom "app thread" a place where Xoom consumers and owners are going to go look for apps that are already working or reported as working with their Xoom.
I want to spread a wide net to catch developers who may not be thinking of looking in that specific forum because after all, they would have to look in the app forum of every single android device.
Instead, I want developers who happen to care that their app looks right cross-device to notice and maybe help them update their apps

We (Tweakker) have launched an Android application that will help users worldwide set up their internet (APN) settings.. We hope this forum could be interested in testing this new application. Even though your internet is working on your phone you can still try the app and help us improve it. For more details on the application and to download download it directly from the Android market.. just search for Tweakker.
Our mission is to solve the internet settings problems that users experience once and for all.
We will be following this thread to get feedback and provide support to any that run into problems.

Just being the devils advocate here..
How does the application attain the end objective? A person would need this app the most at a time when their phone is not able to connect to the internet due to an APN issue. At such a time how will the user connect to the market to download this app?
Latching to a WiFi connection is not possible at all times.
I recommend that you release the app's apk that the user can download and keep handy.
Hi delltech
Good point. However everyone downloading the app has access to wifi - they can access the Android Market.. therefor the use-case has been designed around this premise. This enables us to constantly update the database that the application uses.
We are thinking about other setups and value this feedback!!
Alternative distribution channel, apart from Market, can also be included at a later stage.
Any more feedback on the functioning of the app, delltech. others?
Best regards
Sune - Tweakker
Although the app is located in the market, on my current phone, the Motorola Photon 4G world phone, the market refuses to let me pay for and download the app. Is there a way to request a certain Photon be added to your list of models so that the market recognize the phone.
Thanks

[Q] How to monetize free desktop applications

Hi.
Does anyone knows which are the advertising companies that provide ads for Windows / Linux applications ?
I'm sure that there must be many because there are freeware programs that show ads. Others offer 3rd party software to be installed, so they must be making some money to do it.
I googled for it but I failed to find an answer.
Thank you all.
umm... im not really sure what your asking or how it relates to the HTC ONE?
you know these are the HTC ONE forums?
Oh, I'm so sorry.
I wanted to post to General Discussion -> Q&A.
How can I move this thread to there?
Thank you.

To be honest It is almost not worth the trouble. Most people only see the ads while installing and you have to give them the option to not install any add ons. Mix in that most virus detectors will prevent any program that installs anything else as this is considered a virus.
There is one named DesktopAd
Since your Windows app is free, I guess you have many users on it. Then you can add in-app advertising to get revenue. There are many advertising platforms which provide this kind of service. You can find the most suitable one. For Windows desktop apps, I recommend DesktopAd's ads. You just need to add their ad SDK and don't need to do many thing, you will get paid through ad clicks every month.
Desktopad.com is a good choice.
Free desktop apps are more popular. So you get relatively advantages which help you get more income by in-app ads. As you know, almost all the apps have ads in it, you can select one ad payment method. As I know, CPC is good one. Many app users will click the ads unintentionally or he has interest in the ads. But it will have a result, you can get income by every ad click. So I would like to suggest you try to search desktopad.com.
Hey everyone, Old post.
But If anyone need help in monetizing their windows or mac software. I can help with that.

The Valuable Apps I have seen in Play_Store

The good apps I have seen in the Play Store are:
1. Temple Runner: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.imangi.templerun&hl=en
2. Auto Off Manager:https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appzdevelopers.autoffmanagerf
3, Avast Anti_Virus: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.avast.android.mobilesecurity&hl=en
One does not simply call avast the best as it's the most common and therefore, the most countered anti-malware in order to target successfully the highest amount of users.
I don't believe antiviruses on phone. No impact I think. Only improve ram usage

That's true. Almost in all android cells, I have seen the Avast is installed. I do not have any doubt. It would be in number one for some years may be. Talking to the Gaming world, Temple Runner is also ahead, but we do not know how much time it would be... Because candy crush made crazy to people and other competitors come in market. Regarding the Auto Off Manager, there is no one to compete it as it is unique one and some apps are there in market but I do not think that that are comparable with this one.

Hi xanthrax,
I do not know, in which way I hurt you. But truly speaking what I felt right, has written. Till now I do not know what to do for the community. But assure you that, I would not break the law of community. Word "The" always placed before best. If you can suggest me what to write before best, then I would be open always.
Few apps what I felt are better for android users also will suggest in this thread. Please do not make any thread as controversial one.
If you feel any apps are much more better than what I suggested, you are welcome, so that I may use the best one.
If I have hurt you by any means then I am apologizing for my words.
Thank you
I'll contribute a bit to this usefull thread .
Apps that are really usefull or impressive are:
- Titanium Backup Pro
- 2lines for whatsapp
- Tapatalk, of course for XDA
- Chrome ( far away the best browser for high end phones )
- Smooth Browser ( the best browser for low end - high end phones I made it myself, link is in my signature )
- Greenify
- Xposed Framework
- Nova Prime
- Zooper Widgets Pro
This are my favorites/best apps for today.

ok , i will expand my point a little bit more.
there is no broken written xda rule on this thread or similar to it so far .
when open a new thread , you have noticed that you`ve been suggested to check first whether another similar thread has been already opened or not
my quick search revealed

and maybe some more ...
another point is that not all devices are supporting certain applications , there are hundreds of phones and few dozens of android versions reason why , the most indicated place to open a thread about your favourite/best apps is in your device thread unless someone already done it .
example
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1425813
the xda recommendation is to not to open BEST threads but mostly regarding ROMs and KERNELS because it can trigger a flame war around it
which is best for you may be not the same for me ... conflicts
regarding apps and themes it is different but while on themes section there are good and sedulous maintainers who knows what they do , here on apps sections these kind of threads creates more confusion bloating the search index with more and more results
now , it is up to you how you can deal with but i have the feeling that these threads will end up becoming nothing but another outdated list of apps , list which can be also easily found on Google using search
the last member who posted the list already did it on another thread , well , everyone has this right though ...
i`m sure you`ve got my point even though it isn`t easy to accept it
there are lot of other ways to help people and to contribute to community if this is your intention and only a quick search on my profile it will help you to understand how easy it is

i should have done this using a p.m. but observing other`s involvement i have chosen this way
however , further opinions around my point it will go private

This is really appreciating.
I do not have any doubt in your contribution towards This forum and this community.
I do not know when my profile in this forum would be like your profile.
You really has created a field in this forum. Your each post and reply costs 1000$s. Still my intention is not to create confusion among the forum members. Now let this thread run like this. In future I definitely give more value added posts and Threads.
My intention was to create this thread where all good apps would be listed and any one can easily follow and can see the features.
My intention is not to promote any single individual. My intention is to make this thread Great and will made the most valuable thread.
Intention is not to be famous, but can help others to get the better one through this thread.
I would definitely carry forward my research and will give the best contribution to this forum and this community.
