[Q] Turn off "Flick scroll" - General Questions and Answers

Does anyone know of an app or a way to turn off "flick scrolling". I'm not sure what else to call it. Basically I only want the screen to scroll when I'm actually touching it as opposed to when you can flick it and it will continue to scroll even after your finger has been lifted.
I did some searching around but most of the links I found were developer links. I figured maybe I'd ask around here and see if anyone has seen anything this.
( I'll be using this on a Kindle Fire - running KK in case that matters)
Thanks
Bruce

run away finger scrolling

Has anyone else noticed this, or know of a way to fix it. On certain applications, like contact list, for instance. You use your finger to scroll down or up, and the screen just takes off. it eventually slows down, but only after skipping like half of the contacts. It also does this in a few other places like in the file explorer. It works really smooth when I use the call history tab or the program tab. Is there any way to correct this or is it just something you learn to deal with.
Well yeah.....I know what your talking about. Happens to me too. And well....I've made my peace with it...lol. It's probably the touch screen trying to differentiate between a tap using your finger and your nail. When you see your screen taking off that way, just tap the screen again...it stops right away.
Usually if i do it in my contacts i immediatly put my finger down on the screen to stop it and then i scroll a little slower
ya, I've made my peace with it too. It's not a big deal. I just figured someone mite have figured out a way to smooth it out. hadn't seen anything so I figured i'd ask. Definetly a small price to pay for this pimp phone.
You can modify its behavior like this:

[Q] Huawei M860 issue

I have searched but can't find an answer, PLEASE bear with me. On my phone I use my blutooth 99.9% of the time and I know with only 2.1 in it hands dialing is not an option. Thanx Cricket! That said, when I have the phone on my desk and I am in a call and you know how you always have to push #1 or #2 or such and such for a certain extension? well about 2 seconds later you get that pain in the arse, "double tap to unlock", by the time you do that you have already blown it and have to start all over again listening to automated hell arrg, or the screen goes blank ASAP. How do I get around this? I do have z4 installed everything else is stock. I haven't found a "direct" froyo download yet always get the 'endless' circle of sites to surf through. Anywyas thank You.

what is a gas light?
also some of us have short attention spans (ADD) and cant remember the name of the link we just clicked on or why we clicked on it. it may seem odd but you should ask a direct question in the op just to make sure people dont get lost. (seriously, i see this alot on another forum and i have even done it myself finding myself confused when a thread only contains a sig or a smiley as i have already forgotten the title)
ahh i guess you are haveing auto correct issues and using a forum app. now my post sounds silly.
i dont know of any way to accomplish this without messing with the kernel, maybe could be done in the framework. this needs a dev im sure. but i never found the backlights very bright to cause a visability problem. the vibrant has way brighter backlights.
I at least attempted to edit the op. I meant backlight and yes it was auto correct

Keep the Lights On should be able to do this.

[Q] (SOLVED, PLEASE CLOSE) How to fix search feature missing/disabled?

Ok so I understand that this is probably a setting that i must of overlooked but i've been trying to find information about it for the past few days now. A few days back i changed the option to XDA classic but decided i didn't like it so i changed it back. This is around the time i noticed the search button missing and ontop of that its overlaying on the screen messed up. It didn't do this before and i'm not sure what i did or if maybe XDA is just improving their search button and thats why i'm having problems but its starting to bother me big time. I really did search for the answers as best i could without having use of the search button but i came up empty handed. Also if i got to my name it normally brought me right to the statistics where i could find my posts and so forth but now it brings me to About Me. No big deal though since all i need to do its select statistics which is right next to it but when i go to find posts i was in or threads i started i get "vBulletin Message, Searching has been disabled". Who disabled it and if it was me how can i enable it again? I would be very greatful if someone could shed some light on this and tell me what i'm doing wrong. UHGG!! I feel so stupid because i know its probably something small i'm doing wrong.
It's problem w/ board and admins are working to fix it.
Patience.
Huge thanks.
As i said i wasn't sure if it was something i was doing but i noticed it right when i was changing the style around. Thats a huge releif knowing it wasn't from something I did. I have no problem waiting patiently.

[Q] Help! Strange touch screen ring that I can't describe!

I have this weird small ring that makes my touch screen act very strange. What happens is when I try and do something on the screen, this weird ring will move around the screen instead. It does track my directions properly (when I move my finger to the right, it also moves to the right) but the actual location of the ring isn't under my finger. I need to know how to deactivate it. It is very hard to explain, so I attached a picture of it instead. This isn't the small dot that you can activate in Developer Options that follows your touch. I know that much.
I'm sorry if this was posted in the wrong forum, but bashing me and calling me a noob, or what have you, won't help me or you!
Doesn't seem to be an issue with the screen hardware. Please provide more details like which device and what model, which ROM and what all you did, when it started, etc.
check developer options
The device is an ancient Xperia X10 with PAC-man ROM JB installed.
This problem started when I installed CrossBreeder.
I flashed it through CWM, no problems. Booted and everything, but when I wanted to unlock the device, then this ring appeared.
I checked the build.prop to see if anything looks astray, but nothing looked out the ordinary (I can still navigate with great difficulty )
I already said that Show Touches isn't checked in Developer Options (and it doesn't have this type of effect anyway)
The ring works very similar to using a trackpad on a laptop (basically exactly like using a trackpad, just replace the mouse pointer with the ring!) My input area for actual screen selections is restricted to the ring. Where the ring is, is where I can make a selection.
I luckily had a newish nandroid backup, so I restored it. I just want to know what I can do so that this doesn't happen again, when I flash CrossBreeder for a second time (that is if I want to flash it )
I suggest you ask about this issue in the CrossBreeder thread here on XDA. See if some other members have had similar experiences.
No idea why I didn't think about that. Thanks a dozen
Remember, we all were a noob once. Maybe twice, but definitely once
Edit: I posted it here because I thought I would gain a larger audience (therefore problem would be solved faster)
