[Q] Any way to reduce vibration intensity? - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi! New to Xda. Quick question. Is there any known way to reduce the vibration intensity for the Moto G? I know I can reduce it in the Google Keyboard settings but that does not reduce it for button clicks. Thanks in advance!

You can switch it off entirely, I have mine vibrate only when I get a text or phonecall. I turn off all other vibrations.

Yeah, I was hoping there would be a tweak that would allow me to reduce the intensity. I like having it, but it's a bit much on the Moto G. Only complaint I have with the handset!

Sorry, I should have been clearer. I actually set it to vibrate for any notification, but have vibrate off for any key presses. So gmail vibrates. Strange it still vibrates for you even if you have the vibrate box unchecked.

Thanks for the answer !
Ans could you make a try by unchecking vibration un gmail account préférences ans see if it still vibrates on notification ?
Maybe we could continue on this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2598038 cause that s not exactly the same problem...
Thanks to you

It does still vibrate even when I turn off vibration AND have a phone to JUST vibrate and not ring, ie volume button pressed until vibrate option is chosen.
I think the issue is that there are so many options with regards to notifications in android that there is confusion by the system over which option wins out in the end. Or rather confusion by app developers in some cases.
I use chomp SMS and that can't properly send a notification sound when an SMS arrives if Im in the chomp app at the time.

For Gmail, you also need to set the ringtone to None in the Notifications - Sound settings in the Gmail app as well as untick vibrate.

Handsome ! Indeed it works. It was just that.
You have to set the ringstone to none to cancel the vibration on viber mode ( not very logical but that s the point). Ans it works for all applications like K9 mail, facebook...
Thanks a lot to you Alex

[Q] Does not vibrate for SMS/MMS.

I've notice that my Thunderbolt does not vibrate (on vibrate mode) when i recieve a SMS or MMS but it does work when the alarm goes off. My co worker's TB also does the same thing. Is this some kind of bug or something?
Is the power saver mode on? Have you checked settings to see if vibration feedback is enabled? Are you rooted? What rom/kernel are you running?

[Q] No notification vibration

Hi everyone. I installed the Liquid JB ROM last night and so far, it's been good. The only problem I've encountered is that my phone doesn't vibrate when I receive SMS in both sound and vibrate modes. It will vibrate for calls though.
Since vibrate mode is what I'm usually on, I'm hoping it's just a setting I may have missed. Any help?
Thanks!

Open up MMS, hit menu-settings-then scroll down to vibrate, it mostly likely says never. Change that
If that doesnt help check the settings under display and sound.

[Q] Set phone to vibrate ONLY when screen off?

Is there a way to set my phone to only vibrate when the screen is off?
If I'm using the device I can see notifications as they pop up so I do not need the phone to vibrate constantly. I have a GS5 on 4.4.4
Can you explain clearly.....

I want an app or a way so the only time my phone vibrates for notifications is when the screen is off. I do t want it to vibrate if the screen is on when I'm using the device as there's no point I can already see the notifs.

I thought android had greater customisation than iOS, so far seems like the opposite. I mostly just needed this option for whatsapp, as it's annoying when I'm browsing or even whatsapping someone else that when someone else is whatsapping me it keeps vibrating.

Well why don't you just deactivate vibration in notification bar if you don't need it and vice versa if needed?

[Q] Real silent mode in Lollipop? [Also Whatsapp/Viber Priority Interruptions Issue]

So, before Lollipop we used to slide the volume down to zero to get in to vibration mode, and press another time to go complete silent.
I used to have my phone in silent mode at work, sitting on the table, because vibration on a table is pretty noisy. I just silenced it and the notification light showed me any incoming notifications.
Lollipop introduced this new "Priority Interruptions" mode, and if you don't have any interruptions set up it is basically like the old silenced mode. The issue is that in priority mode the LED notification light doesn't light up anymore!
So, any help replicating a completely silent and non-vibrating phone showing notifications through led?
Thanks in advance :good:
UPDATE:
If you use a third party app to light up the light while in priority mode, you have to enable his notification access:
Settings > Sound and Notification > Notifications Access > Check Lightflow/Light Manager Access
Also you need the notification app itself to be activated as a priority interruption:
Settings > Sound and Notification > App notifications > Lightflow/Light Manager > Enable Priority
Thanks to sorcio91 on figuring this out. :good:
Meanwhile we found out some apps don't obey to priority rules. Whatsapp is one of them, and also user naelya reports Viber is creating issues. If you find any issue with some other app let us know in this topic. According to sorcio91, dowloading the version at http://www.whatsapp.com/android/ solves the issue.
I have my phone on silent 24/7 and rely on notification light too.. Frustrating they removed a basic feature like putting ringtone/vibrations on silent only..
Glad I'm not the only one having this issue. I use timeriffic to setup profiles, but it's pretty much useless now. At work I usually have my phone on silent and use my watch and notification light for notifications, but that doesn't work now. Looks like the final build is more of a nod towards the N6.
Will tasker get round this?
I have a problem with that too....
And: with priority interruptions active, whatsapp continues to make sounds when notifications arrives...is for you the same?

Had the same issue on the developer preview, but i thought it was a preview bug at that point. Didn't receive many notifications in the last few hours, but i'll see if i experience that also.
Back on the notification light:
Is there anyway we can report back to google? But this is more of a feature request than a bug i think.

Dear friend, i've just found a workaround...the version of whatsapp downloadble at http://www.whatsapp.com/android/ works well with lollipop notifications manager, but if you update or install it from the play store it will (in some strange way) bypass the notification manager and it will "ring" even in priority mode.
Let me know if it works for you...
my whatsapp seems to be working ok, just the notification light thing is bugging me.

Can you please check your whatsapp version number?
Have you tried if lightflow or some app like that does the job for the notifications?
I just tried with a friend and Whatsapp rings full volume in priority mode, even if it's not set up to. That's strange, becasue I thought that ringtone volumes were blocked at system-level.

Yeah, it should be...!!!! Damn, I don't want that some app wakes me at night because it could bypass the notifications manager

I use Light Manager but I don't think it's the app fault. The led does not light up even with in-app basic light settings. I wrote to the developer to know if he eventually can override that behavior (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=56706374&postcount=2015).
I also have Lightflow PRO from the Play Store, but didn't have time to try that extensively. I doubt it will work though.

That's bad. But it's also possible that Whatsapp uses some deprecated code in the app development that results in this. It's not the first time that this multi-billion company shows examples of really bad app design...

I have just opened a support ticket with Viber for a similar issue.
I have app Light Flow. It work. But seems there is one trick for this. Install Light flow app. Then go in Options/Accessibilitiy and and turn on Lighht Flow Lite!
Please answer if this working for you.
I have find REAL silent mode! Top ****! =]
Just click volume button, and there is priority mode. Just click first option! Or set priority mode. In priority mode you can turn on notification for like SMS, and turn of for incoming calls!

I know that you can use NONE, but that way also alarms are silenced. And in the morning I need to wake up to something :good:
By the way without any third party software you can't have notifications light up when in priority. Don't know if consider this an issue or an intended feature. By the way, with light manager, notification access is also enabled but doesn't seem to work anyway.
I still can't get it to work. I have the full version of the app. I have it activated, no persistent icon (other than the L Preview one it puts on automatically) and then I have set priority mode on with no active notifications...but nothing lights up.

Nougat update still does not fix notifications

Hi, I have an unlocked s7 and the latest update still hasnt fixed notifications. I don't get led notifications from whatsapp, and even worse, it now vibrates even if vibrate is off and whatsapp is set to silent. Help please! Thanks

Sounds familiar. Google or search for another thread here on xda about the notifications and download the file '1 second of silence'. Put that file in your notifications folder in the phone's memory and select it in whatsapp. And your led notifications will be back.
Thanks. Clever hack. I'll try it, though my main problem now is that i get VIBRATION notifications even when vibrate is off...
Now just how useless have samsung developers have to be NOT to fix such glaring flaws?
