Sent from my Nexus 4 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

Can't get past the Welcome to Gingerbread Dream screen. It seems to register that I touched the center of the screen but never advances. I can touch Emergency Dialer and Change Language with no problem.

Also, for those of us that haven't partitioned/formatted to ext4 in a while... Power off and boot into recovery each time when setting up swap, ext2 to ext3, and ext3 to ext4. I kept getting "Error : type "fs ext2" in adb" message when trying to do it all at one time.
SD Card Partitioning using AmonRa
**With a fresh FAT32 formatted SD card inserted into the device boot into AmonRa recovery by holding down Home + Power button while power is off**
In recovery navigate to Partition sdcard > Partition SD then set:
- 128 MB Swap
- Ext2 (Default - 512 MB)
- Fat32 rest of my SD card
**Power off, then boot into recovery again**
In recovery navigate to Partition sdcard > SD: ext2 to ext3
**Power off, then boot into recovery again**
In recovery navigate to Partition sdcard > SD: ext3 to ext4
**Power off, then boot into recovery again**
In recovery navigate to Flash zip from sdcard > update_signed_final.zip
In recovery select Reboot system now

Used this old trick to bypass the Welcome/Activation screen:
Source: http://theunlockr.com/2010/09/20/how-to-bypass-the-activation-screen-on-the-motorola-droid-x/
1. On the Welcome screen with the touch the android to begin icon, do the following:
2. Tap the top left corner of the screen then
3. Tap the top right corner of the screen then
4. Tap the bottom right corner of the screen ( just above the grey bar along the bottom with emergency dial and change language in it) then
5. Tap the bottom left corner of the screen ( just above the grey bar along the bottom with emergency dial and change language in it).
6. That’s it, should pop up the home screen shortly, if not retry. Remember not to drag your finger, simple tap top left, top right, bottom right, bottom left.
Looking good so far guys! :good:

Are gapps built in or a separate flash for this ROM? I am assuming separate since Market (Google Play) closes immediately and I cannot add a Google account. That could explain why I had to bypass the activation screen. I do like it though. I am at work so I cannot flash gapps right now, I will try when I get home tonight.

gapps:

That was definitely the issue as I was able to "activate" and access the Play store once I flashed gapps from recovery. I should have asked earlier.

Awesome, I'll try this and add it to the G1 Oracle when I have time... Which will be a while

Thank you, very good ROM .
I installed it with "latest" CWM recovery and all seems to run well. I had no made EXT partition or Swap because
in CWM , if I'm not wrong, ther's no option to do it...
Any suggestion to optimize the ROM in this configutation or is mandatory to make partitions in Amon-RA Recovery ?
I tried to OC a little the cpu but phone reboot and some app FC's...
Nice graphics !!
EDIT:
Partitioned and swapped via Rom Manager after Rom installation. All is good but app's launch is very slow and still causes FC's .Do i have to re-flash the ROM ?
OC cpu now seems stable at 576mh ...

Thank you so much for continuing to make the G1 a usable phone! It makes me really happy to see people still giving this relic love

thnx for this rom

Nice work, thanks ivn888! Good to have a reason to dust off the ole G1. Having a physical keyboard for texting is tops!
I did things in the order presented in the first post, which means I ended up formatting the SD card after flashing the rom. I figured out that I can take advantage of the new ext4 partition by using link2sd, but will the rom automatically make use of the new swap partition I've created, or do I need to reinstall the rom now?
Also, I would like to change the number of home screens, but none of the regular methods (pinching, Menu->Edit etc) seem to work. Do I need to edit the relevant XML?
EDIT: NVM, I just replaced the launcher and used Swapper2 to activate the whole 128mb of swap space. Oddly, the system was only using 8mb of swap before that.

Error: the signature is not certified
Sorry, I'm French
Van you help me ?

Try toggling the signature verification in cwm recovery.
Otherwise as noted in OP they tested with Amon_Ra recovery which you could easily flash to with fastboot

Ok - Thank you for your work and your time! It´s awesome how fast this little nice phone was rooted ;-)
At this time I don´t have the heart to flash this new custom rom but I think I will do it in the future.
You don't have to be scared if you don't like the custom rom you could always go back to the orignal..

not working for my phone
I have installed the new ROM but when i start up my phone i get this error message "process com.huawei.android.customAPKsHidden has stopped unexpectadely,
How can i go back to the original???/
PLZ help
did you do a full wipe before you installed the rom?
upgrade error
yes i did. I only got an error when upgrading the sd card from 2 to 3. it said i should use ad smthng. What coul;d be wrong as my phone cannot work now
Have you been upgrading from 1.0 to 1.1? because you don't have to do a wipe if you are upgrading..
please repartition your sd-card ext 512 no swap en fat rest.
then wipe data/factory, dalvik-cache, sd-ext en then upgrade ext2 to ext3..
then use a cardreader to put the 1.1 rom on your sdcard..
reboot back in recovery and flash the rom.. if this don't work please try 1.0..
Thank you for the installation guide, now I can also test your rom Btw. I'm really impressed by the speed of the phone.. Dozenz of apps open and it still runs.. Also iGO worked ok even with music player in the background..
sd ext
maybe my problem lies with creating an ext2 and ext3. My memory card is just in one format. How do i do this?
Did you follow the installation instruction and installed a custom recovery? is your anwser to this YES then we can continu ..
turn your phone off.. hold on to the call button + volume up + powerbutton... you now see AmonRA recovery..
go to partition sdcard --> partition SD.. --> 0 swap --> 512 ext and remaining fat.. after this is complete choose SD: ext2 to ext3..
if this is down put the memorycard in a cardreader put my rom on it and start recovery again.. choose Wipe --> Wipe data/factory res --> Wipe Dalvik-cache return to main menu and choose Flash zip from sdcard choose my zip and wait..
Can anybody upload a video to youtube from the version 1.1? or post some more pictures from the new ROM. I like to see the changes beetwen original and MR edition ROM. Thanks.

A2SD
(Only tested with AmonRA recovery image)
1. Backup your MicroSD card (IMPORTANT!)
2. Boot into recovery mode (see Installation instructions)
3. Choose to partition your SD card.
I recommend 32Mb for Swap and unless you plan to also move the dalvik-cache to the MicroSD card anything more than 512Mb for applications will be pointless as you will still be limited by the internal space for the dalvik-cache. You can of course use more space for swap if you have a large MicroSD card but I don't think it will make much difference but sure 64Mb won't hurt and on a 8Gb card you can afford it.
4. (optional) Convert EXT2 partition to EXT3 (EXT3 is an improved filesystem compared to EXT2).
5. Reboot the phone.
A2SD will now automaticly move your apps to the SD-card partition and enable your swap partition.
To change how a2sd works see this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...09&postcount=5
(a2sd jit is NOT supported in my ROM as I've choosed to provide JIT as an update instead)
NOTE: If you intend to use A2SD it's propably a good idea to enable it early. Some apps (at least my banking app) doesn't like being moved and have to be uninstalled and reinstalled if you move it from internal to SD or the other way around.
NOTE2: Don't EVER remove your SD-card while the phone is turned on if you use A2SD and/or swap.
NOTE3: Having your apps on the slower (compared to NAND) SD-card propably have a performance hit but I can't say I've noticed it when testing it. However I believe that if you also move the dalvik-cache the performance hit may be noticable.
Compcache
If you are using are allready using a swap partition on your SD-card, then you most likely shouldn't enable compcache. But if you do not want to partition your SD-card then compcache can be a good alternative.
Read more about how Compcache works here: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Compcache
Enable compcache
In a terminal or using an adb shell type this:
$ su
# compcache.sh enable
Type free to confirm you now have 32Mb swap
Disable compcache
In a terminal or using an adb shell type this:
$ su
# compcache.sh disable
Type free to confirm you now have 0Mb swap
Advanced users
Compcache size, settings and swappiness is setup in /system/bin/compcache.sh
If you are an advanced user, you'll know how to proceed from here...
SWAP
0. download swapper from market Or it cut be on your ROM with the right version.
1. open swapper confirugation
2. push active swap on boot + SDFat partion + 64 mb swap size
3. push save
DONE
How to add languages to your phone!
1. Extract the framewrok-res.apk from phone (/system/framework)
2. open with winrar and open map res
3. now put the contents of the zip Languages in the res map
4. resign you framework-res.apk and push it to your phone
How to make your phone faster!
-Internal task manager
Open terminal and type: su --> a2sd lowmem-aggressive
-Compcache
open terminal and type: su --> compcache.sh enable
-Overclocking

-> Wipe SD:ext partition
Confirm each step above via DPAD
-> Volume Down to go to main menu
Choose “Flash zip from sdcard” and if everything is okay you can select the Custom ROM zip file. Confirm via DPAD twice to install (just wait 2 minutes to finish)
-> Choose Power off
Restart Phone and that’s it
(FIRST BOOT CAN TAKe LONG)

Aha....
I am just waiting for your froyo...
Come on!
Hello Cedric!
First of all, THANKS for another ROM for our devices!
I really hope that our phones don't die soon!
Now.. let's talk about your ROM..
I'm testing you RLS 1.4
1)
The first look is bad... The "Powring Up.." Splash Screen saying "Celesteal TeaPot" ??
Fix the splash screen please!!
2)
After entering the pin code, and click next.. I get an error in method "com.android.inputmethod.latin" and it forced to close..
3)
The original theme.. is cool... and the notification bar is awesome! Very very nice!!!
4)
eduroam wifi connection (university wpa-enterprise, or 802.1x security network) successfully configured! Can't test it right now, but I'm sure it will work! So.. great again!
5)
In my opinion it has too much stuff for wifi networks..
Tethering is good.. but the other stuff... I don't know.. this is just my opinion! So.. if I don't want.. I delete them! lool
For tethering, now I can't test it because I don't have a data plan, and I pay 1€ /day /10Mb to connect... So.. if someone could test it... All times I used tethering the connection stoped working after the defined time for the screen to go off.... Now it works? (I'm not sure this is something related to the software.. cause on other phones it works..)
6)
Cedric.. Hungry Birds???? I will try it right now!! It never worked on any other roms...
7)
It seems pretty fast!!! And again.. It looks amazing!!!
8)
What that google maps version have of special??
Market can't update google maps...
And.. for now that's it..
Just look in point 1) and 2).. Maybe the point 2) and 8) was a coincidence... Till now, i got no problems with input...
Will continue testing according to my time...
But for now, it seems the fastest and greatest ROM!
Keep your good work..
If you need some help, feel free
EDIT:
teapot roms, have one widget called "My calendar" that displays a 31day calendar in the hole screen.. where appear in a circle the days with events... Where can we get that widget?
EDIT 2:
(also point 8)
What that google maps version have of special??
Market can't update google maps...
EDIT 3:
Market don't auto update to the new version with the new layout.. (like in TCT ROM..)
market from Mr. Edition do auto update
i'm going to test ofc...
seems a good work cedric
i'll give u some feedback
How can we play Angry Birds???
On mine it seems that there's an error in resolution..
I only see a portion of the floor... nothing more...
and more edits on my last post on page 1
u have to turn the screen off and turn it on again

I know there are some market issues im trying to fix these
The wifi stuff you can just delete it just like other 3rd party apps
wifi thethering is working for me.
Th maps is a special edited version i will make an update without it if more poeple dont like it.
The force close is always at the begginging but is not causing problems.
uhm..
I love the original theme of this rom!
Cedric, after reboot I get the same error of the com.android.inputmethod.latin
Just to inform you..

+1 for the bad theme.... you should make a release with the original theme (maybe a launcher like Launcherpro or Golauncher) and without any graphical mods
the screenshots may scare people away.... too cluttered, too much going on
even if the ROM itself is awesome

Do not reboot the phone. It should be put off. I think the utility App2sd (MAD TEAM) for partitioning the SD Card in ext4 solve the problem.
(App2SD Script> SIZE in MB> 500. Click format 'format').
About theme CRYSIS Revolution it belongs to the Apocalypse. I think I've already taken too much of ideas. I'll will builds on the theme of the iPhone and OSX.
And no there is no benchmark, I spend more time that has devellop, that note any applications are in the smarthphone. Just look at the screen-shots.
Good 'BUILD 4' to all
P.S. : MyFolder.apk is still devellopement think I put a small pack update.

Ok.. Tht is to make 2 partitons FAT32 and ext4 right?
But I've already created 2 partitions. 500 mb of ext4 an teh rest FAT32.
Did it using Parted magic cos tht wouldn't delete data off teh sdcard.
Anyways.. got teh problem solved..
As in, it jus factory resetted once an from teh next reboot onwards it was a clean reboot
Don't kno why 1st time it did a factory reset.
Pls put all teh 3rd party applications in /data/app in your next build so tht we can easily move it to teh sdcard thus saving some internal space.
And pls let us kno what file system is being used for data, cache and system
Waiting for u're next release
Am so much in love with u're ROM already
Use This .
1-Start the flashing Process
2-You will get to recovery screen, do Factory reset,Clean Cache.
3-Wait for phone to bootup (until you see the homescreen)
4-AFTER USE THE GOOD TUTORIAL UTUBE BY RUDOLF895
5-Done
how it comes that nobody asked me when this theme started? You should've ask me!!! there's a lot of work in there, especially in music player and apps, and you haven;t even asked me or credited.... really nice of you...
I'm sorry, by the way you made the EXCELLENT work on the Galaxy S. : D Thanks.

I have the same opinion
Hi,
Nice recovry but...
What about fat32+swap+ext4+ext4 option on sd partition? With that, we can only create 1 ext4 right?
Thanks for your work. It looks helpful. I will try that
Out of curiosity, what is btrfs? Is it better than ext?

If u guys wanna know more about Amon Ra 2.2.1 here is the link
But imho i liked it too without background image or maybe simple background image

Open recovery is a easy-to-use and easy-to-edit recovery based on shell scripts. It features advanced nandroid
and on-phone console (well, it's a QWERTY phone).
FEATURES
- on-phone console, with full QWERTY keyboard support
- nandroid backup / restore from menu for all relevant partitions, with ability to select with partitions are to be backed up and which are to be restored and possibility to reboot the device after backup / restoration is finished
- wipe data (factory reset)
- wipe cache / wipe dalvik-cache
- mass storage mode for external sdcard
- adb in recovery, using bash shell
- running bash scripts in recovery from internal / external storage (!shell is /sbin/bash)
- applying update.zip files from internal / external storage
- multiple themes
- improved menu navigation (holding a key works)
NOTES
Console:
- OK key is CTRL, pressing SYM + DELETE forcibly exits the console
- scroll using volume keys (use shift to scroll faster)
- shift + arrow keys puts < | > ~ characters
- text editors will not work as not all escape characters are implemented
Changing a theme:
- "Theme" submenu under settings menu.

DEVELOPER NOTES
Menu system:
The menu for the Open Recovery is created dynamically. The files must be created inside "/menu" folder by scripts, which can either be specified (if the menu is scripted_menu). A menu creating script has to create a *.menu file inside the /menu folder. If the menu is supposed to be created on startup and not modified, place the script into /init folder, otherwise use "scripted_menu" item, where the script is ran right before the menu is created. sdcard, system and data partitions are mounted when the scripts are ran. A typical example for "scripted_menu" item is under the tutorial for application menu:
First line is the menu name (normal string), then use the following structure:
"item name:type:argument"
- item name is what is seen in the menu
- type: type of the command (described below)
- argument: argument passed to the command (file, or anything else; if empty, put "*" there, otherwise the item will be discarded)
Commands:
- reboot: reboots the phone
- poweroff: turns the phone off
- console: shows console (argument is initial call, use "*" for nothing)
- shell: calls a file specified in arguments (default path is to /bin, if not specified)
- shell_dir: shows script directory dialog, argument is the root directory
- menu: opens another menu file (specified in argument), if the argument is "..", it returns to up one level meu
- scripted_menu: argument is in format "menu file:menu script", the menu script is called with variable MENU_FILE containing the menu name (default path for the script is to /bin, if not specified)
- tag: if ticked, file "tags/.argument" is created
- break: unselectable item, argument is ignored (use "*") and creates a menu item like "---- name ----"; using "*" as name will create just "--------------"
- label: unselectable item, argument is ignored (use "*") and creates normal menu item "name "
- update: applies an update *.zip file, specified in argument
- update_dir: shows update directory dialog, argument is the root directory
- wipe_data: factory reset
- wipe_cahce: wipe cache
The menu is refreshed (the script is called if the menu is scripted) on a menu change, applying an update or running a script. The common partitions are mounted whenever a script is run (system, data, cache, external sdcard if present).
Hardcore dude! I know you talked about porting this, but I wasn't sure if you were going to follow thru or not :good:
Nice work.
Re: [03-28-2013] Photon Q Open Recovery 2.02
Great work! A good replacement for cwm or twrp. Qwerty rules,man..
Sent from my MB886 using Tapatalk 2
wow this is too awesome...
Excellent! Thanks a lot!
Yessssssssssssssssss
I don't know if this is off-topic, but when you do a nandroid backup, you have to 'back up all' ? or you better select a couple of area such as system, data, and cache to save a SD?
This is hilarious...
I'd say it this way:
If you are on stock rom and want to go to CM10, then it's better to have full backup. If you are taking a backup before installing newer CM10, usually just backing up boot / system / data is enough.
However the "other" not so common partitions don't have that much MB.
Updated to 2.03 version (see changelog in OP).

Great work
Can you integrate a screensaver mode like TWRP? In backup and Restore mode the screen and hardware keyboard light are on all the time and the Photon Q is hot.
...Tapatalk
Yeah I could add that (would surely help charging). Although it's not related to the heat (which is caused by CPU usage). Up until 2.03, CPU1 was always on max frequency, which caused the heat. In 2.03, CPU1 is off (though sole CPU0 is able to heat it a bit).
How do I install it over CWM?
Should I uninstall CWM beforehand? If so, how?
Thanks

Just flash it via fastboot as described in OP. It will be written over CWM.
Fantastic, thank you.
Just a note for possible future improvements: usb mass storage data transfers are very slow (around 2MB/s) currently...
Hi,
What type of file this .bin is? How can I "unpack" it ?
Thanks.
Updated to 2.04, added screen timeout for menus.
could it be possible, that the twouch work mod recovery is not compatible with jelly bean ota ?
Always use stock recovery for official OTAs! (Press both volume keys at once to toggle menu).
Updated to 2.05, fixes for Android 4.2 internal sdcard.
