[Q] 64 GB SD - Phone deletes files by itself!? - HTC Desire S

Hello,
i use the HTC Saga with cyanogenmod 10.2 and a 64 gb sd card. i formated the card with fat32. The phone recognizes the 64 GB and everything seems to be fine. this is my problem:
1. copy my music collection to sd card. Windows pc displays some 50 GB used, 10 GB free.
2. Put sd card in phone. phone displays only one folder with music, the other folders are empty.
3. connect sd card to computer. only the folder, which contains musikc according to the phone actually contains music. the rest of the folders are empty - sd card has only 10 GB free memory. so the sd card is full but the folders are displayed empty?!
What seems to be the problem? cyanogenmod? Android? Media scan? Sd Card? How can i solve this?

Maybe a problem with using a 64 gig card? I'm sure the DS was specced for 32 gig maximum, but an mobile at the moment so can't check.

Trying to format 64GB with FAT32 is the problem. AFAIK it's not expected to work, and you're going to get funny behavior.

Sdcard questions

Hi, I'm aware the one x will not have a micro Sd card slot and was wondering how this will work as I've been very dependent on the Sd card in my phone.
Will all the folders that are on your Sd card move in with the system folders?
When I connect via USB into the computer will it pull up all folders or only specific folders if I use it as a storage system?
Is the At&t version only coming with 16 gb space or is there a 32 gb version also?
Lastly, how much memory will actually be available? I've heard only about 12 gb if you have the 16 gb variant.
Would be a great help if anyone could answer.
My life is cool...
all been answered already
The internal storage is divided up in two partitions, a few GB for the system and the rest for storage. So when you connect your phone as a disk drive, it will appear just like any phone with an SD card would.
The LTE model only comes in a 16GB capacity.
My One X has 2.21 GB for the system and 9.93 GB for storage (total of 12.14 GB).

[Q] Upgrading sd card - rooted, S-ON

Hi folks,
I rooted my phone using the S-on / unlock bootloader with htcdev /superoneclick method. Now I want to move from the original 8 gig card to a new 32 gig card with a minimum of fuss.
Different threads say you can just copy and paste, or that you have to format your card.
Any advice?
FWIW I have some apps running on the sd card but can move them back to the phone or even delete them if necessary.
Thanks in advance for the help!
What you have read is correct!
I have also upgraded to a 16 GB card from the stock 8GB card.
Just as a precautionary measure, On your Windows PC make sure View System Files / Hidden files & folders option is set as visible.
Make sure you do everything with the card inside the Memory Card Reader.
Copy all your content from the old SD card to a folder on your PC.
Insert the new Card in the memory card reader on your computer.
Format your new SD Card.
Paste all the content of your old SD Card (that you backed up earlier in a folder) to your new SD card.
Insert the card in your phone, check for Pictures, Apps.... Enjoy!

Cool, thanks. Just to double check - what format? And did you have to reinstall anything?
Format : FAT32
No, din need to reinstall anything.
If you wish, you could transfer the apps to phone memory from your old SD Card before you begin the process.

Thanks again, that worked fine, no real problems.
I did have to reinstall Modern Combat which was a bit strange but then it remembered where I was in the game. Odd but no hassles.
That game may be a one off case. . . May be that's Y i suggested you to transfer apps from your SD Card to the Phone Memory before changing the SD Card.
Anyways, Cheers !!!

[Q] swap between internal and a sd card on mtk6582 phone

i bought a cheap mtk phone from tinydeal
X9S by xiaocai http://www.tinydeal.com/xiaocai-x9s-45-ips-mtk6582-4-core-android-422-3g-phone-p-115131.html
and he came with 4GB total(when i say total i mean internal is 1.62GB, phone storage is 1GB and i have no idea where another 1.3GB, i think it's the OS it self) i bought a 10 Class 8GB sd card and i though it was easy to install from play store to the sd card, but the problem it's i can't install directly to sd card and even can't move them after the installation, the only thing i can do is move the apps from internal storage to phone storage, can't install any app to the sd card(the sd card is working great, i copied some music into it and i can listen to it from the phone)
i read somewhere that i can change via adb to set location to external but it didn't worked for me, i also read that i can flash heb files but i don't have the original rom of this phone and also, this still doesn't solve the problem that i can't move apps to the sd card ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2455850 )
all i want is just to install asphalt on this phone =\

All data vanished off sd card, shows as all free space now. advice?

Hi folks, well I have a 32 gig external sd card that I recently loaded several gigs of music onto for a road-trip I have to take in 3 days.
Tonight I went to copy some files from the internal sd (not the 32 gig external) onto my computer, and it behaved strangely, so I powered the phone off to try again. Once the phone rebooted, both the 5 gig internal sd, and the 32 gig external sd cards report as being empty with all free space available, everything is gone.
I can't run recovery software from windows on the card , because when I mount the card it appears in windows as a portable media device, not a hard disk, so no recovery software recognizes it.
Anyone have any advice as to what I might try, in order to recover my music directories? I'm thinking I might be out of luck.
Thanks in advance

Who is the manufacturer of the card? Is it generic? This is an issue with cheap SD cards. Sounds like it needs to be formatted. Most likely your data is lost. Sorry.
I put the sd card in my older motorola atrix that I just recently retired from service use, booted the atrix to clockworkmod, from there mounted usb storage, and windows did assign the sd card a drive letter - I was able to run a data recovery program (easeus data recovery) and in about an hour recovered all my music to my laptop. Some of its in lost directories etc, but mostly the original folder structure is intact - in any case i've got my music back for my road-trip.
Why the newer lg ultimate 2 i'm now using only mounts the sd card as a portable media device, I don't know, and for the moment it doesn't matter.
thanks evolution
This had me thinking: if I was able to remove the sd card from the lg phone, and put it into the atrix phone, and recover/access the data - then what if for instance, you lost your phone, someone found it and put the sd card into another device/reader, and you had a titanium backup on that sd card- they restored the backup of some of your programs (complete with data)
wouldn't they then have access to some very private information of yours?

HTC 10's - SD Card (Sandisk 200 GB) with Adoptable Storage Corrupted - Help Need

Hi ! I am new to XDA...
My HTC 10's - SD Card (Sandisk 200 GB) with Adoptable Storage is Corrupted - Help Need...
As i was browsing my phone, one fine day, I got a prompt on HTC 10, that my SD card was unmounted, it instructed me to remove and re-insert my SD card back again...I did as per the instruction, but my HTC 10 fail to recognize my SD card...
After several attempts (removing and putting back the SD Card) the same issue persisted...
So what i did was, I removed & re-installed the SD card when i was in the Settings Menu>Storage..As i was inserting the card it Phone tries to read and it displays SD Card is Corrupted...
Since my SD card is configured as Adoptable Storage (SD Card as Internal Storage) some of my apps are missing...also my photos, video and other files are also missing...
Please help me, how to go about recovering my SD card...the right way..
I have a PC with windows Vista,so i tried to connect the SD card with an SDHC Adapter to my PC via the On Board Card Reader..It did not recognize... I went in to My Computer>Right Click> Manage> Disk Management> It shows the SD as healthy partition's as 16 MB and 183 GB...Without any drive letter...I tried to right click and assign a drive letter, I am unable to assign a drive letter in the Disk Management Console...I assume if i am able to assign a drive letter, I will be able to Run Check Disk from a Command Line to Check for and fix Disk Errors and hopefully recover my SD card data...
