Phone stuck in boot cycle - HTC One Mini

First time post and it's been a hell of a day. I need to figure out how to either sideload the factory ROM, load a 3rd party ROM, or actually factory reset my phone to stock.
I unlocked my bootloader and installed TWRP and SuperSU earlier in the day. I then wanted to try to load Cyanogen11, but there were issues with the load, it constantly failed. I made a backup before I did this, but when I attempted to load the backup, nothing happened, it would just continually boot to recovery.
I attempted a few other things, clearing caches, doing wipes, powering the phone off for 5~ minutes, etc. etc.
Nothing is working, I can't load any ROM now and phone is either stuck at a bootcycle or the HTC Splash screen (Aside from being able to load bootloader/CWP)

Are you still having issues? If so, PM me and I'll help you out.....

Got everything sorted with the great help of Nelvin. I had previously gone to the twrp support IRC and after answering a few questions, they just stopped talking... Glad there are people out there still willing to help! He spent a good hour or so with me making sure everything was working.

Hey you two!
Did you solve your problem via PM, then maybe send me the log of it please.
I dont know exactly if we have the same problem, but i'll try to explain mine:
I wanted to put a ROM on my mini, because it is branded.
I unlocked the bootloader on the htc one mini and then put the twrp recovery on it. It seems to work.
Next i wanted to put super su on it, but I'm already stuck in a bootcircle, so i cant put any files onto the phone. I tried to move files with Qick ADB Pusher, but always when I try to send the file from PC(win7) to one mini it says "Opeartion Failed! Exit Code 1". I tried this when i was in Bootloader. When I am in Recovery ADB doesnt even recognize the phone via USB.
If there is more explanation needed, please feel free to ask.
Thank you for your help in advance!

Hi, can you let me know: Which ROM you want to flash, if you have attempted to s-off, and that you can boot to recovery?
Also, i'd advise against using utilities like the "pusher", please download this http://d-h.st/qmi and create a directory called c:\adb\ - move your ROM and SuperSU zip files here and extract the adb_windows.zip file to the directory.....

I did not attempt s-off, just normal htc dev bootloader.
First i wanted to flash Magio R4, but then i was thinking about Stock Rom Sense 5.5, which tr1gg3r84 uploaded.
i created folder and moved rom there. i also extracted the adb_windows zip there. what to do next? (i just wanna ask, because im a little scared of totaly breaking the phone now)
Thanks for now!

Boot to recovery, then
adb push therom.zip /sdcard/
adb push UPDATE-SuperSU.zip /sdcard/
Remember to extract the boot.img from the ROM zip file, and after flashing the ROM and SuperSU, boot to bootloader and FASTBOOT menu then:
fastboot flash boot boot.img

you mean to push with the quick ADB Pusher? but in this programm (on PC) it doesnt find the phone whilie it is is recovery boot.

No, use the adb binary from the download link I posted......
If your phone isn't found, check the windows device manager and verify that you have ADB Android device listed..... if not, download adb drivers for windows and install - then plug your phone back in.....
You are using TWRP 2.6.0.0 recovery image from here right? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2418938

the adb.exe just pops up the cmd console, showing a lot of commands for half a second and then its gone again.
the android device is listed on device manager.
no, i did not use this one(twrp). i used some explanation how to do it from another forum and another file.
should i use this one now? how exactly to do that? theres no explanation :/

Open a command prompt in Windows and cd to c:\adb
Then when your phone is in recovery, type the adb commands I posted earlier.....

cmd says that the command is wrong or misstyped
(im in c:/adb typing: adb push rom.zip /sdcard/)

Is your ROM zip file called rom.zip? Can you post a screenshot?

ok got it.
now the rom and the supersu.zip are on the phone.
i cleared cache and dalvik and flashed both files(Stock Sense 5.5 4.3 Rooted Odex/Deodex;UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.86; both zip files) and , after that i went into fastboot and tried (fastboot folder) "fastboot flash boot boot.img" but cmd only says "waiting for device"

Check device manager on your pc, most likely the adb driver device isn't listed - if not, reboot your pc and try again.... This has happened to me several times......

ok now it worked. writing boot and so on .. finished. total time: 2.717.
i shut it down and started the phone again.
now it almost made the starting sound. after 5 boot cycles it played the whole starting sound and also showed the second screen with the "o1ne" and "beatsaudio" on the bottom.
but thats it. boot cycling in a different way now .
seems like it just doesnt want to work.
i'm so sorry that I am bothering you for so long now..
another idea?
thanks again!
edit: im gonna go through everything again with magio rom r5...

ok got it now. thanks a lot dude!
i deleted the rom files now from the phone but still there is 9gb used on the phone. this is way to much, isnt it?
is there a safe method to clean the whole phone .. something like c:format ?
thanks ³

No problem dood.....
Download an app called diskusage from the store - start it and choose storage card.... Post a screenshot please!
Sent via a weather balloon towed by a flock of seagulls. That's how this messaging stuff works, right?

after the phone went out of battery, it was in a boot cycle again after loading and rebooting.
flashed super su.zip again, but it didnt help. stupid me didnt do a backup yet. so do i have to install the rom again and do all the configs from scretch?

What's your hboot status? Locked/unlocked, s-on/s-off etc
Also, did you do, or install anything before your phone powered off?

[Q] Problems with Leedroid 2.0

Hi,
i came to the screen install form zip on sdcard
but then it starts installation
and shows : installation aborted
now i cant start the phone i always get tothis screen
with the red text this build is for ....
what can i do?
edit: now i am again there where i can install zip from sdcard, but now it doesnt recognize the sdcard. What can I do, because i the phoen does not take a microsdcard where I could put a new rom.
how can i get access to the internela storage now wihtour a os?
How did this happen ? Selecting a ROM to flash in recovery cant really cause so much damage if it fails. They usually fail because of a md5 mismatch or something.
try to mount the sd card and you can use adb to push files to it..
you could also try a full wipe..
I did several things. I rooted and unlocked the device
and now it does not boot.
Everytime I tired to flash leedroid or stock rom with choosing install form zip
installation get aborted.
I am only able to get into the boolloader and into the recovery.
how can i restore the phone?
wipe and recovery is not possible i always end in this screen
with the red text.
edit: i think i try to get into booloader and copy another file version with adb to the sd card and hope it was a download error.
but why the hell then did both the leedroid 'AND the stock rom fail?
did you flash the boot.img BEFORE flashing leedroids ROM ??
If not i suggest trying that, If that fails, Just run an RUU and start from the beginning
Thanks for the Idea,
my problem is that i cant get access to the memory wihtout a working rom
on it And now i also dont get into the recovery CWMS.
I thouzhg power+vol up would do it but it doesnt work
I think i destroyed my brand new phone.
but thanks for helping.
It's not broken.
Try Power + Vol. down. Possibly you need to retry this several times to get into the bootloader.
its not destroyed dont worry..
Run an RUU and all will be good again. Whats your CID ?
That is the problem I cannot put up software on the device
so how should i run a ruu?
Where can i get the CID from wihtout starting the phone?
I hope you have a trick how I can save the device.

You run it from your Windows desktop. Download your appropriate RUU here for example (as it takes a loooooong time).
Connect your phone to your computer via USB.
Double Click the RUU-file.
Answer the Questions and the update will start.
Remember: Your device will be reset to factory default and your data on sd card will be gone so.
Edit: You will still have to start it with power + vol. down buttons pressed (as far as I remember).

To get into the bootloader try this.
Press and hold volume down, then power. Hold both down together for 5 secs, let go of the power button then press the power button several times. This always works for me.
If this works then your phone is easy to fix.
Maybe you could try to reflash the boot.img from leedroid via fastboot.
Then flash a proper recovery.img via fastboot (I use clockworkmod)
As I heard you could then push the rom.zip via Adb the sdcard while in recovery. Last step would be install zip from sdcard.
Sent from my HTC One S using XDA
Have you installed supersu via install ZIP from sdcard? I think this needs go be installed before installing the Rom. I Don't Know it exactly. But like this it worked for me when coming from stock rom. Thats how it worked for me:
1. Unlock bootloader via HTCDev
2. flash recovery image via fastboot
3. Install SuperSU from zipfile in recovery
4. Flash boot.img from Leedroid
5. Install Leedroid from sdcard
So maybe you missed one of the steps.
Sent from my HTC One S using XDA
to get CID go into fastboot and type in cmd window ''fastboot getvar cid''
If your phone is branded, you will need that branded RUU, So i assume you will need o2 Germany RUU
Reflash recovery in fastboot, should give you access to sdcard back.

i did the same thing to my one s yesterday... followed all the steps for leedroid n got same frustration u have...
theres a nandroid file in the dev section... fastboot the boot.img and the recovery.img
ya phone WILL boot back up
ok guys ty for cheeering me up.
i wil try it with a ruu, where can i find a ruu for my htc one s.
the link in the previuos post ist offline.
i think it was 1.78.407.x when i looked the last time in my handy.
thanks
so my cid is
C:\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools>fastboot.exe getvar cid
cid: O2___102
finished. total time: 0.003s
Like i said it is a O2 i hope this helps finding the ruu
well check the Shipped ROM thread.. If its not there you can ask the OP Football if he has it or can get it..
Some RUU's cost $13 so if you know someone else who wants it, you could split the cost ?
so far, now am in the recovery flash but it is the same
count mount /sdcard
how can i put a file onto the sdcard when i have no access?
partionoing sdcard doesn't help
i was looking for this boot.img and recovery.img which was posted before
i dont find it can someone link me to it if he knows what was meant?
thanks
edit: i was desperate and tried:
fastboot oem enableqxdm 0
fastboot oem eraseconfig
but the second order was not successful
ist there another way to fix this usb brick
and to get access to /sdcard
new edit: now i write also in the help thread (noob friendly) i hope that is ok.

urgent help needed~!!! Please Help HTC One X stuck with Fastboot with No OS installed

Something went wrong which I am not gonna explain too much.
Now My phone doesn't have an OS.
I have Unlocked Bootloader,
I have CWM installed. However, the USB storage Mount isn't working. "No UMS error"
I can still use CWM, but I don't have any rom in the SDCARD.
I can boot into boot loader, I can see fastboot USB.
I want to install a rom, any rom for now. but I don't have access to the SDcard. I couldn't mount it.
Is there a way to write a file or put a rom on the SDCard?
of course the SDCARD is build-in so yea....
Please help~!!!
i could be wrong, but if you can get to fastboot, cant you flash via RUU? i mean its obviously not a custom rom, but a hell of a lot better than a brick.
most RUU is exe file...
I can flash a stock rom. but I need a .zip rom.
I tried using the one of the custom rom. but it says something about a .txt file missing.
Right, RUUs are exe files intended to be flashed via windows. I thought that you could plug your phone in when in fastboot mode, or maybe its after you select bootloader, and then run the RUU and it would flash the phone. Is that not the case? Those are just my thoughts so i could be wrong. This is my first real HTC experience so i may be way off base.

A very similar problem
Hi all,
I've gotten myself into a very similar problem, but the solution posted here hasn't fixed my issue.
I have an HTC One X 2.20 on AT&T. I used the X-Factor exploit to root my phone successfully. I have TWRP 2.3.1 recovery. I have a Mac.
While in TWRP recovery, I pressed "Factory Reset", "Wiped System", and wiped "External Storage." My phone now doesn't have an OS.
I tried the listed solution "adb push rom.zip /sdcard/Download/rom.zip" and the newly flashed ROM would be on my SDcard, but as soon as I rebooted, it would disappear. ALSO, when I tried to "Install" the ROM before rebooting, I get "Failed- unable to mount /sdcard".
Any advice on how to proceed?
Thanks so much!

Well, wiping /system = wiping the OS, so that is logical.
Doing factory reset in recovery means you need to reformat your SD card before doing anything else.

Hi, Brand new Noob here, but hoping someone can help…I’ve had a good scour around and can’t find the answer. We have a Htc one x from orange uk (cid orang001) stuck at “quietly brilliant” screen following an attempt to load ViperX 2.6.0. After downloading, the MAC unzipped the ROM so this was just rezipped back up and transferred over to the SD card, without any special conditions. ( I’ve since read somewhere that this might cause issues)
USB debugger was enabled but its not possible to enable it now.
Fastboot works ok, and we’ve flashed the boot ok, but ADP isn’t working, so it isn’t possible to push the correct ROM.ZIP to the SDcard. CWM is installed.
We’ve seen the post for an updated CWM with ADP enabled on this here but that states its only for at&t models. If we could get ADP working we’d be able to push the correct ROM over, so this would seem the easiest way if possible.
I wanted to avoid doing a RUU in case the phone would end up bricked, but I can’t get the correct version anyway.
Command ./fastboot getvar version-main returns
version-main: 3.16.61.6 and the noob guide at
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1859714 says we can’t use a lower version….the nearest RUU I can find is 1.29.061.11 (released on 31/01/2013).
Any ideas on how best to recover this phone? The issue might not be anything to do with the zipping of the ROM, but then I have no idea why its not working…I’m hoping it’s a simple procedure, but I fear it may not be! Please Help!

Possible Brick

Hey all,
So tonight I attempted to install the Unofficial AOKP Jelly Bean posted here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1862156
Before doing that, I followed the instructions to Unlock, Recovery, and Root my One S here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1583427
After following those instructions, I then followed the instructions for AOKP Jelly Bean however my sdcard couldn't be mounted and the phone was in a boot loop if I didn't boot into fastboot by holding down the volume - and power buttons.
I attempted these instructions below however I couldn't get a stock recovery flashed.
1) Use the All-in-One-Kit and flash your recovery back to stock
2) Boot into the bootloader and choose to "clear storage" and afterwards to reset to factory defaults.
3) Go back to the all-in-one-kit and flash a CWM recovery version again.
4) Reboot into recovery (CWM). Your /sdcard should now be mounted and visible.
5) Now, try the UTB rom (it worked for me), rename the zip file to something short (i.e. utb.zip), and push it to the sdcard using adb as follows:

Still caught in the reboot loop, I relocked and tried to run an RUU file found here: http://www.htconeforum.com/forum/ht...e-your-htc-one-s-back-100-stock-relocked.html
I was able to successfully re-lock the phone however every time I try to run the RUU file it comes back with an error about 3-5 minutes into the process.
At this point, my phone boots into fastboot. At the top I have "Tampered, Relocked, Security Warning." My HBOOT is 1.14.0004 and my Radios is 1.08ts.50.02.16
I would appreciate any help if there is a solution. Thank you for your time!
Update: Not sure if this is helpful or not, but whenever I try to do something with The All in one toolkit the cmd window says device not found. Also, when I try to boot into recovery from fastboot, I get a green downward and circular arrows before getting the red triangle and exclamation point.
Update: Running the RUU mentioned above fails at the Signature stage and the cmd prompt when trying to write recovery returns "signature verify fail"
Are you s4 or s3? what kind of computer you got? The drivers need to be installed. then read up how to use android SDK. Then retry to flash the stock recovery using the same steps in your quote.

I am pretty sure I am S4 (tmobile USA). I am on a windows 7 home build, and the drivers should be installed (at least, I could use HTC sync before all of this). I'll definitely try again tonight. If anyone has any other suggestions they would be much appreciated!
Make sure HTC sync is NOT active on your pc. Try searching for the original version of one s all in one toolkit. It has the stock recovery. I'm pretty sure this unbrick method works for all hboot versions but don't take my word for it. Focus on your goal. Get stock recovery flashed. You can also try unlocking your boot loader again and using the all in one to reflash cwm. In some cases like mine. The unofficial cwm touch is the only successful flash I got. Ps. Try having your phone in fastboot. Plug in USB and see if it says "fastboot USB" then type your android SDK directory for your fastboot folder. For example open cmd
cd\
cd androidsdk\tools
androidsdk\tools fastboot devices.
Fastboot devices command will tell you if your drivers are working.
You can also type in adb devices instead of fastboot devices.
Hope this helps. But you probably already know this

Thanks for the help!
Here are my results:
HTC Sync is not running. Fastboot devices returns a device ID so that seems good. When trying to flash a stock recovery (that I got on this forum somewhere, but can't remember where) it sends it ok but I still get "remote: signature verify fail"
I unlocked the device and flashed TWRP 2.2.2.0 with the all in one tool kit. This put me back into the boot loop mentioned above. Once I manually got back into the bootloader and selected recovery, I was able to get into the TWRP recovery. At this point, I am kind of worried about doing anything. I would like to be able to push AOKP Unofficial JB if at all possible. Any further guidance would be appreciated!
Please, please don't use the toolkit. It makes people find problems later on and not know a thing about what to do.

Oh well, flash AOKP through TWRP and then reboot into bootloader and flash the boot.IMG.

It is clear to me that I didn't do enough research before getting into this. I thought my experience with putting custom roms on my galaxy S (a phone I really disliked) would give me the appropriate background. Clearly I was wrong! I'm a little unsure how to flash AOKP through TWRP when AOKP is not on my SD card. In fact, when I look at the SD card in TWRP, the only file on it is "TWRP."
I think I need to flash TWRP 2.3.0 (rather than the 2.2.2.0 I have), because it supports ADB Sideload (talked about here on their site which I can't yet link to). Can I do that through the Android SDK like I have been doing? I don't need to do anything to the TWRP 2.2.2.0 before trying to flash 2.3.0 do I? It seems if I do that, I could send AOKP to my phone through adb when it is in recovery.
And just for my better understanding, what is different about flashing it in TWRP and then flashing the boot.img in fastboot?
Thanks again!
You have to fastboot push the AOKP zip through the bootloader I think.

Just like the post above mine says, you have to adb push the file onto the sd card. I'm not to familiar with TWRP (using it actually got me into a bit of a dilemma) so I only know the process for CWM. If TWRP is anything like CWM then you have to be in recovery to adb push and have sdcard and system set to "unmont". It's pretty easy and there's a couple threads explaining how to do it. The command basically is :: adb push romname.zip /sdcard/romname.zip:: Note the space before "/sdcard" I'dpn't know if this ill help you or if you've solved your problem already but this is just my 2 cents, good luck!
Sorry for my late reply; I was rushed to the ER last night in excruciating pain. Looks like I'll be dealing with a kidney stone over the next few days.
So far, I have tried to push AOKP through fastboot. ADB says "no devices found" and when I type adb devices, I get "List of devices attached" and nothing under it. However, when I type fastboot devices, I do get a device ID. As of now, I am downloading the TWRP 2.3 recovery and will try to sideload with adb with that.
Update:
I was able to successfully install TWRP 2.3 and adb sideload the AOKP zip file. The phone then went back into a reboot loop, and I was able to get into recovery to install the .zip. The phone then rebooted, showed the HTC with red text screen very briefly, went to black, showed the HTC with red text screen again, went black, and now the aokp boot animation is repeating over and over. It has been doing so for about 5-7 minutes. I haven't yet installed gapps as mentioned in the AOKP post (I'm honestly not even sure what that is). Where should I go from here?
As a side note, the phone is plugged into power though the LED is not lighting up. It was at 98% when I flashed the .zip, but I obviously don't want it to die on me. Should I turn the phone off or is it still charging?

The newer hboot versions (1.13 and up) don't let you flash boot images in recovery, even if it reports success.
So there is technically no difference, except fastboot always works and recovery depends on hboot version.
Did you fastboot flash the boot image that comes with your rom?
-Jobo
Edit to add: So it seems that following the recipe in your post #1 did in fact make your sdcard mountable again, or did you do something else as well for that?
Fixed!
I ended up flashing the boot.img with fastboot and then going into recovery, factory resetting and then re-installing the rom (and gapps which I now know stands for google apps). I'll be playing around with the ROM but at least I have a working phone again!
I think, in the end, it came down to my sd card not being mounted and my lack of knowledge about how to fix it.

[Q] Really Hard Brick.. I think..

CWM cant mount SD you need TWRP for that and a RUU put you back to stock but the bootloader needs relocking. So did you even try booting the rom because the red writing is fine.
you didn't mention it, but you should wipe system and caches as well as data
Not hard brick. you can chose the correct Ruu file and flash it to your phone.... solved your case.

CWM can not mount our sdcard onto your computer over USB.
But it absolutely can mount the sdcard partition onto the root filesystem.
Unless you have the 'unmountable sdcard' problem, for which there is a sticky in Q&A.
My feeling is that the OP didnt mount the sdcard partition. In that case it is normal to see the mount point as an empty folder.
Once it's mounted, you can adb push rom zips to it.

+1, 2 & 3!
Really don't understand why anyone still uses CWM, I think its just habit with some people.

I thought I saw a post that mentioned cwm has not kept up to date--not sure
But, I was a slow convert too and very happy with twrp 2.2.2.0

You lost SD then and best off running a RUU to recover it.
ok i'm lost.. how do i run an RUU to recover it?

Download the right RUU for your carrier and location by looking at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1543588 and you can get free download at http://www.4shared.com/folder/jKN2qjTl/HTC_Ville_RUU_Collection.html
Then plug in your phone and follow the instructions when you run the RUU .exe file.
AKToronto
but everytime i try to run it, it says it fails because the phone it is not connected to the computer but it is...
did you ever try to boot into the rom after you flashed it and boot image as in just tapping on reboot system
can you plug phone into pc and get indicator at top of screen that says you are connected. then pull down notification bar and select to mount drive
if so, does it show you your sdcard in the windows screen
you do have an S4 device and assume you are hboot .13 or higher
if you can get into os and see sdcard, you can get twrp and flash image gui and flash rom and boot image with it
i am sure you tried these things, just hard to know when reading posts
also, i don't know if you are running your commands correctly based on how i undestand your posts. you can't run adb commands from fastboot, which is what you were in to fastboot boot image. you would want to type fastboot reboot-bootloader
if you are very familiar with adb/fastboot--sorry. if not need to get up to speed on them
if i misread or misunderstood any of this, sorry for butting in--

NEXUS 5 stuck at Google logo

Hi Guys,
After some cleanup in CMW i accidently format EVERYTHING. (formatted all single option in CMW, afterall a bad idea) So now i'm stuck at the google logo.
Now i have the 4.4.4 KTU.zip on my computer. Can i flash this via ADB sideload (as a renamed ''update.zip''? Or can i just copy the .zip file to my Nexus from a computer?
I'm @ work so i;m stuck guessing what i must do to get this thing work!
Thanks in advance guys
i dont know what it is, but if its a rom, sideload then flash away. your phine is empty right now, no rom or anything. you need to put something into your phone(sideload) then flash it.
Yes, the whole zip file is the stock ROM in a zip file.
Luckely i can't login as administrator here or else i could get my device working here
Thanks!
Why not just start the bootloader (fastboot mode) and execute the flash-all.bat? It'a the 'official' way to completely restore your phone. I've done it several times and it always worked great

get the factory image here, unzip it, and run the flas-all.bat. make sure fastboot works correctly. it will flash your phone back to stock.
