Need help to identify a chinese 7" tablet

Hi,
i would like some help to see if the device i have has any other custom firmware,
i have attached a few pics of the device.
the discription that was provided by the vendor is as following
7" TFT screen, A9 core 1.5ghz, 512 ram ddr3, 8gb internal memory, andoroid 4.0, has GPS, TF card support upto 16gb, VGA front camera.
NO bluethooth,
the model no. assigned by the manufacturer / vendor is ET-6018 , being sold on egmemory.com...
to be honest i knew that the tablet will be slow... but its so slow that even opening a single menu takes ages...
i cant return it as the vendor is being very A**holic...
i was wondering since i cant use it or return it... mite as well flash it with a custom rom.
please help me to identify this tablet's common name and if any custom roms are availabel for such device.

I managed to get a little further, and i hope the info helps? Im English but based in Aisa, and often have to source hard to find manufacturers. I couldnt read the model number in your last photo, but as it says on the back of the Tablet, it is made by a company called Easy Groups, who specifically manufacture Memory modules. The main website is egmemory.net
In the support section, they have manuals and firmware downloads, but i stopped there because i couldnt read the model number. The link to the support page is...... egmemory.net/download.php?lang=eng (add the 3 ww's in front)
The only ROMs i could see listed however, where Chinese ROMs but i would have thought there would be an English language option somewhere!

I also saw those firmware updates on that website and I clicked the one for the et-6018 and it took me to a dead page. The other links for the other models did the same

A little secret...;o)
If you do the non obvious and do a right click, then select open in new tab, it downloads the 'firmware' for the manual it opens a PDF in a new window.
Unfortunately the 'firmware' on offer is just a utility tool for upgrading and is 1MB in size called Phoenix Card and has a handful of DLL's with it. I did a little more digging and picked up hints to follow 2 models, CWM MK802 and CM10
I did find this though, i wonder if this would work, the author states its a slim custom ROM for the A9 but doesnt state its for any particular model...

Seriously though, these little tablets are quite addictive to play with! When im not at home in the UK, im in Indonesia for most of the year, there is a local market that sells second hand stuff, like a flea market. I often find broken or used tablets for as little as $10 I have about 15 of them now. One i have hacked to the extreme hardware wise, inside i fitted a 4 port hub, a second camera facing forward, a wifi mouse and keyboard dongle, a broadband dongle and a second USB port on the side, maybe i should post this as an instructable? Another i have used the insides as a controller for an amateur radio transmitter.

[Q] What MOD?

I have a cheap tablet, Soulycin s5, which I bought several months ago. It came with a pretty bad mod of Android (pretty ugly and many things did not work well). I rooted it and installed another mod but that made the machine not work well (slow, freezes a lot and such).
I know many people bought these tablets (was also sold as EKEN A90 I think). Since this is not a "major brand" device I couldn't find specific mods released for it, however I would like to install something because right now the device is not very usable.
If anyone can recommend something it will be highly appreciated.

[Q] April 2013 Nextbook 8 SE with Amlogic Meson 6 and Jellybean

I just acquired a Nextbook 8 SE with a manufacturing date of April 2013. It has Jellybean installed, HDMI out, and also Google Play.
There have apparently been several iterations of hardware under this same model number missing some or all of the above.
Nothing I have tried has been successful at rooting this device, including the Italian Fix, all the stuff here and at FreakTab, or Crystal Root which is the only thing I've found here that specifically calls out this processor and OS mix.
Yifang or whoever actually made this unit is doing something interesting with the signing keys, because pretty much anything I've tried via <3e> has failed verification.
I know that since this unit is only a month old and not popular that there probably hasn't been a lot of interest or work done on it, but I'd really like to root it in order to get rid of some things and change some other things.

I'm with you on rooting this thing, i have scoured the internet for days trying to find information on rooting this device. I have the Nextbook Premium 8HD sells for 99 dollars USD at walmart. the chinese workaround doesnt work this devices either. *Edit* Also it has the AML8276-M6 chip and like i said earlier NOTHING in the same tablet family with the same chipset works for root with this device.

We're going to have to go back to Walmart and buy some of these as gifts to hand around to the cool kids here in the hopes one of them breaks into it.

packaging was misleading as well, I read the barcode at walmart and it said "Google Play nextbook" and noticed the likewise of the Nexus font on the packaging. It wasn't until i got it home and inspected the box just to find the "efun" logo discreetly on the side. I am still very impressed with the packaging though, for 99 dollars the quality of the packaging was very good. The LCD screen is something that is less desirable but its not the kind of screen i would expect to have like my galaxy Tab 10.1. Overall i am happy with it but i still need root to hide its manufacture id on google play. I am unable to download most of my apps as they keep saying they are not supported.

Hi,
I have also the Nextbook Premium 8SE bought last year and have ICS installed. It's not that good as expected. I asked at Nextbook support they told me that JB is not in plans for Premium 8SE.
I've tried to get those 4.1.1 custom roms, but I cannot even install the drivers, the tablet won't even connect in flash mode with UP+DOWN buttons pressed while plugging the usb cable.
Any ideas?

How to root Nextbook Premium SE
Hey! I have a Next book Premium SE. I tried everything to root this crazy thing, and finally I was able to do so with a free application called kingo android root and a Windows computer. It wasn't listed in their supported devices, but it worked. You can Google it for more info. It only took about 5 minutes after I found that application. Now I am working on finding a successful ROM for this obscure tablet.

Generic android set top box guide(i have a great many questions)

So, I was at Menards a couple weeks back and saw a generic looking android set top box for around 30$, and so I came here, and find there are a few different kinds of chips that they may use, so... my first question is...
What are the differences between those chips, which is the best, and how can you tell before purchasing, what you are buying, as well as how to buy a good one, as in what to look for, to avoid a bad purchase, and what specs to look for
The next question is, once I buy a generic looking set top box,(the one I saw was labeled abx-12 as a model) how easy is it to find roms for them, and will one rom work on them all
To be fair, I do know about phones, but im out of my depths here, but would like to get into set top boxes, and possibly putting custom roms like resurrection remix (my favorite), on them... i would like this thread to eventually be a guide for every set top newbie, such as myself, and this is the best android modding, and well, anything android, website in my opinion... if these answers can be found elsewhere on this site, condensed into a single thread, please link it, else, if you guys can help me and others like me, I would appreciate it...

i just picked this QFX ABX-12 cheapo ATV box at Menards on Clearance for $20.
Pretty much what i expected, pos china thing.
the rom that is on it is ancient android 7.1 from 2018.
update does not work.
came searching here on XDA to see if maybe someone had easy way to root/re-flash this model box and put a decent ATV rom on it, newer os at least.
but, seems no one cares about these cheap china no name boxes.

Hi, you woukd need to find out what SOC is in your box (amlogic,rockchip ect...) and what model (s905x, s905w ect...) or what bootloade (eg p212, p281 ect...)

The QFX ABX-12 uses the Amlogic S905X, has 1 GB RAM and 8 GB flash. At $25 I might grab one just to mess around with.

I picked up a Transpeed_6k from a Chinese supplier for under €30 to play around with an as a stopgap for my dead Humax box. It runs Android 9.0, has 4GB/64GB memory. CPU-Z tells me that the SOC is Allwinner H6 @ 1.49 GHz, with 4 ARM A53 cores. Bootloader is unknown and no root.
The operation is fast, but the navigation is painful - you have to constantly toggle the mouse mode on and off and you can't scroll the screen. I contacted the supplier because the lack of scrolling prevents Netflix from working. The solution was to install a previous version of the Netflix app. It's still awkward to use. BBC iplayer works with limited scrolling which means you have to use the search function to find TV shows.
I also thought of maybe using it as a Chromecast receiver (like my Mi TV stick does), so I installed Allcast Receiver, but it wouldn't work.
I've also tried using a phone as an external mouse, but that too doesn't let you scroll.
That's it. I haven't managed to find any way of changing the ROM or OS. I suppose not many people are spending time on these boxes.

Oculus Quest 2 - U-NII-3 in Europe

Hey all,
Preamble: I have a European bought Oculus Quest 2, and during my trip the US I bought the D-Link VR Air Bridge. To my dismay when I returned home I found out it only worked occasionally, due to it using U-NII-3 WiFi 6 frequencies which haven't been approved in Europe yet. However, the Quest 2 should still be able to pick them up - but is probably firmware/software limited.
My idea of a solution is asking a US friend with a Quest 2 for a rip of their relevant software/firmware, and enable these frequencies on my device.
My question is - what exactly do I need to rip out of their device (firmware, modems file, etc.) and how, and how can I flash it to mine? AFAIK the Quest 2 is just an Android device.

Sadly, you can’t. In order to due any sort of firmware build changes or upgrade/downgrades/custom os/etc you have to have the bootloader unlocked.
Everything on the oculus platform (especially the standalone vr) is governed by a sort of “guardian/permission/spy type program. It has to approve any and all device function and requests and it totally locked off without having the bootloader unlocked.
Unfortunately a wild bootloader unlock is Mia. I’m sure someone managed it. But no one spoke up aside from a hoax.
Facebook did release firmware for the oculus go though once it came to the end of its production and sales cycle. This firmware was explicitly programmed with the bootloader auto unlocked. You can install whatever you want within limits if the arm chip on board.
I’m sure if you knew a little about hardware and software dev on the mobile sector, you maybe able to find a work around using the huewei models. Essentially HUAWEI deidtributes for Facebook overseas in some Asians markets to bysoass bans imolimented on Facebook by the countries. They are the exact same device. Same hardware. Different firmware. And most huwawei models have indeed been bootloader unlocked with reports of it being done asap before by tech support while on phone. So yea. It’s a rabbit hole. Good luck

As a workaround, try occur using something like virtual desktop. Super low latency. Make dang sure you are wired the entire way.
The. You can emulate whatever distro you want and view it in vr mode. I have done this with some steam games. Sometimes it works awesome. Some times it sucks utterly. But more often than not it surprises me with performance assuming you have a realivaly decent vr gaming setup (no a rx 589 or gtx 1650 or 1660 doesn’t cut it). I’m talking a ryzen 7 (preferably 9) paired with a rx5700 or higher for amd or ideally a 2060 super or higher for nvidia. Even at these specs, expect barely 50 fps
