I've been trying to root my HTC using the Easy Ace Tool found in this thread. The process seems to have been at least partially successful.
Probably irrelevant but here is a little info:
Device is HTC Inspire 4G
Android 2.3.5
Sense 3.0
Build 3.20.502.63 710RD
I selected option 1 in Easy Ace
Code:
1.Root HTC Inspire 4G
.Unlock Bootloader
.Flash CWM
.Install SU
Obtaining the token and unlock code went smoothly. The device rebooted. The process continued with the permanent root and failed.
Code:

Bootloader after the first part of the process completed. This from a subsequent attempt after the unlock was completed.
I noticed that it said "fre3vo" could not be found. Another thread mentioned that antivirus will sometimes kill the file during the download. I was planing on switching vendors anyway so I uninstalled my antivirus software for the duration. Following a restart, I re-downloaded the tool. I then verified the hash and the presence of "fre3vo" in the tmp folder.
Hash verification.
File verification.
I still encountered the same error. I decided to try option 3.

So that's were I'm at. I feel like there is something tiny and stupid I'm overlooking that is causing the root to fail. Any suggestions or help is greatly appreciated. My end goal here is to install ICS 4.0.4.

Hi Guys,
I have a bit of a problem, I want to install a custom rom on my HTC Legend. But I am a kinda noobish. I followed a couple tutorials from a site called hxxp://theunlockr.com/2010/06/07/how-to-root-the-htc-legend There it says that I have to downgrade my HTC Legend to 1.31. Before the downgrading proces you have to make a goldcard, I am managed to make one. But I get stuck with the Downgrading
It says I have to follow these couple things
III. Make Phone Downgrade-able
1. On your phone, make sure that USB Debugging is checked ON in Settings > Applications > Development.
Done
2. Plug in your phone and make sure it is connected as Charge Only NOT Disk Drive or something else.
Done
3. Download the Downgrading Tools and extract them to your AndroidSDK\tools\ folder (all of the files need to be in the tools folder with adb).
Done
4. Open a command prompt on your computer by clicking on the Start button and typing cmd and hitting enter in the search box.
Done
5. In the command prompt, type the following with hitting enter at the end of each line:
cd c:\AndroidSDK\tools\
crackin.bat
Done
6. The phone will reboot 5 times, be patient.
Done
7. After it is done, you will see a bunch of error messages, that is normal.
Done
8. Look for the following line, if you see it (the date and time can be different)
you are ready to continue, if not then reboot your phone, factory reset it, and try again:
crwxrwxrwx 1 1001 2002 90, 0 Jul 19 16:19 /dev/mtd/mtd0
This part doesnt work for me! This is what I get in CMD.exe:
Microsoft Windows [versie 6.0.6002]

C:\Users\Gebruiker>cd c:\AndroidSDK\tools

What do I have to do? Is there anything wrong with my goldcard? Or is it something else?
PLEASE HELP!

So i'm trying to root the one x and all of the driver links do not work probably because i'm on windows 8. I tried to use other's drivers by manually installing them in device manager however it still gets stuck at the starting daemon phase. The only time it got past the starting daemon it spammed no permission and file already exists. Anyone like to help me? If you just want to call me a noob do that but help is appreciated.
I changed computers to a mac, just to switch it up a bit, used the method at onexroot.com since it's the only method i can find for mac and i get this

I have managed to root my Xperia Ray ST18i while I had .62 version of gingerbread installed but it requires an unlocked bootloader.

Instructions
1.Install the flashtool on your Pc.
2. Go to C:/ Drive > flashtool > firmwares > delete everything present and Put the kernel (Mt11i_4.1.A.0.562)
3. Run Flashtool click on the flashing icon ( left side below "file" option)
Select flashmode > ok
Setup should be like this > select OK
4.Follow the steps connect your mobile and flash.
Flashtool may show error after flashing kernel, no worries. Even your build number, android version won't change. Everything would remain same. So please don't go to phone settings to check anything.
5.Close Flashtool and run DoomLord's tool.
6.Then again Flash the kernel .587/431(according to steps 2 and 3) Whichever you were using before,Restart and check for 'Superuser' installed
Enjoy!
