[Musicians and Composers] Hand-write Your Music - Android General

Don't think this app has much acclaim so I just wanted to post a thread about it here. It's called NotateMe and it's much better than the beta prototype "Symphony Pen" whose kickstarter died before it was able to release.
Just posting this to make it known. I found no thread about it on forums. Sorry if this is double. I searched and searched.
(I AM NOT THE DEVELOPER) Developer's site for this app is here : http://www.neuratron.com/notateme.html

Features:
- Quickly and accurately enter music notation with your finger or stylus, on a tablet or smartphone.
- Write music on the train, in a plane, by a lake, or just sitting comfortably on your sofa!
- Simple, intuitive interface with little to distract you from your creativity - similar to writing with pen and paper, but with instant playback, editing and a printable score at the end!
- Email PDF, MusicXML and MIDI files of your scores to friends or other musicians. Open in Sibelius, Finale and other desktop software. Print to paper.
- Automatically sync your scores to Dropbox so you can edit them on your phone whilst you are out, and then on your tablet when you get back.
- Write music for solo instruments (including voice and piano) or ensembles from string quartets and choirs to full orchestral scores. Includes support for transposing instruments.
- NotateMe recognises a wide range of music symbols, including notes (with solid, open, and slanted noteheads), flags, beams (even cross-staff*), leger lines, multiple voices per staff, chords, rests, accidentals (natural, sharp and flat), articulation marks, augmentation dots, ties, slurs, tuplets, hairpins, clef changes, key signatures. Barlines, clefs and time signatures are added automatically.
- Add chord-symbols, dynamics and lyrics to your score. Write comments or ideas in 'red pen'.
- It works while you write - the printed score updates automatically without you needing to stop and wait.
- If NotateMe doesn’t recognize your style immediately, keep at it, as it will adjust. Leave clear space between symbols and make markings clearer with further strokes if any transcription errors occur. If you experience problems, tap 'Help Improve NotateMe' from the Export menu and we will analyze your handwriting to help us improve NotateMe further.
* Cross-staff beaming requires a 3.8 inch or taller screen
Features Coming Soon:
Coming Soon...
- Import MusicXML files: Edit music created outside of NotateMe.
- AudioScore® In-App Purchase: Sing/play into your device's microphone and it will be automatically notated using Neuratron's AudioScore technology.
- PhotoScore® In-App Purchase: Take a photo of sheet music with your device's camera and have it played back to you, or export it as a MusicXML/MIDI file, using Neuratron's PhotoScore technology.
Pros:
-Excellent handwriting recognition similar to Samsung's "Complete Recognition" for its handwriting keyboard. It adjusts the actual notated music in the top pane by what you write or add to the notes and symbols in the bottom pane.
-Fast development. They seem to be very determined to adapt to user feedback and add features accordingly.
-Good price compared to what Symphony Pen was planning to charge
Cons
-While u can export your compositions as xml to use in apps such as Finale, MuseScore, etc... you cannot import xml files created in those other programs; bummer.
-Pro version can seem expensive if you don't buy apps more than $5.

[App] Watch List Mania - Stock watch lists to keep tabs on investments

I published a stock watch list application today and it is free of cost.
It's available on Android Market at https://market.android.com/details?id=com.intgpro.android.swl
The user guide is available at http://intgpro.com/?page_id=19
Here are the screens:

Watch List Mania is a simple application to track any stock or investment(ETF/Mutual Fund etc.) that has a ticker symbol.
Allows you to setup multiple watch lists and navigate them with the touch of your finger (fling). You can optionally enter cost information (number of units and average price) and track the growth of your investments. With the cost entered, the application displays the total or daily gain (loss) and the percentage of gain (loss) for each watch list.
You can also select to track the gain (loss) of each investment and the lists are displayed in pleasing colors.
There are many configuration options to view, edit, and arrange the lists, automatically or manually refresh the stock quotes.
Stock Watch List application uses ticker information provided by Yahoo Finance. Not all quotes are real time.
Features include:
* Sample Watch Lists and support for unlimited lists.
* Track daily or total gain (loss) of the investments and portfolios.
* Best use of screen space and color coded indicators for gain (loss).
* Stock Information with a big chart that fits your screen.
* Looks great on tablets and large screen devices.
Thanks for looking!
Thanks for providing this. I just want to make one suggestion and that is to add a scrollable widget. That is one feature that I can't seem to find in a good widget. Or maybe make it a small ticker widget.
But thanks for this app. It looks good.
Thanks for the feedback

Thanks for taking time to leave feedback. I am planning to start working on the widgets for the same app. I don't know how difficult it is to enable scrolling but I will definitely consider adding scroll support to the widgets.
Nice work !! I am going to follow this very closely
Version 1.1 is released
Fixed the following bugs:
1. When the device orientation changes, application displays default watch list instead of displaying the same watch list as before orientation change.
2. Application crashes if the user happens to tap the list divider.
More details of the bug tracking can be found at Bug Reports
Watch List Mania 1.2 is released
1.2 is out wiht the following fixes:
Fixed calculation of daily gain/loss percentatges for the items on the list (displayed under each stock/ETF etc) as well as for the list (displayed at the top-right corner).
I am going to end the free ride soon. In a month or two, I will convert this into a paid app.

[APP][2.2+][Free] Fire Demon

Talk to Fire Demon, our product of artificial intelligence technology.
He is very charismatic conversationalist and has sharp opinions on almost any subject. He is always at your service because his core functionality does not depend on the availability of the Internet.

CONVERSATION
* Fire Demon:
- Supports conversation on general topics
- Has its own character and history
- Knows a lot of proverbs and famous quotes
- Can tell a joke or give you advice
- Determines the type of your personality (Enneagram)
- Makes mystic prediction of the future
* When you are connected to the Internet you can use voice input with automatic speech recognition.
* The entire contents of the current conversation can be viewed, deleted, and shared with others.
Please note that Fire Demon does NOT search for restaurants, weather forecasts and other background information in the Internet - you can find many other specialized applications for that.
LEARNING LANGUAGE
This application is for you if English is not your native language.
The best way to learn a foreign language is to actively use it as early as possible and a conversation is one of the most important skills. However many people feel uncomfortable in this early stage to communicate to others. Talking to an artificial being is much easier - you do not have to be embarrassed when making a mistake and, in fact, our Fire Demon will encourage you to learn from them.
You can also send the entire conversation to somebody - your teacher, for instance. Note that all the conversations are saved ONLY on your device and only you can decide to share them.
With an Internet connection available you have the opportunity to also work on your pronunciation. Here’s how:
1) Activate the voice input from the microphone.
2) Say the phrase.
3) The software will recognize it and display the phrase as text on the screen.
4) Look and listen the demon's response how it should be pronounced.
SETTINGS AND CONDITIONS
Depending on your device capabilities and settings usage scenario may change.
Note that:
- The Internet connection is necessary if you want to use voice input and speech recognition.
- Usually you do not need to change system settings before using the app. However be aware that the function of listening to the text reader is possible only if your device has a properly installed and configured English text-to-speech engine in the system settings.
New version 1.1.6 has been released. It fixes a critical issue of voice recognition.
Version 1.2.0 has been released:
- Using the Google voice recognition interface
- Changes in app settings

[APP][4.0.3+] Black Box - Biased Decision 1.3 (Last updated 28 Sept 2014)

Black Box is a biased decision maker. You just have to tell it the choices you have, and give each choice a score. Based on the choices and the weighing, it will pick a random choice for you.
It is called “Black Box” because it comes with an invisible hand. Apart from the choices, you can also create rules to manipulate the random draw, and that’s why it is a biased decision maker. It never makes a fair draw.
Features:
Create multiple Black Boxes for different kinds of decision
Allocate weighing for each choice, and the weighing will affect the chance of the choice being picked
Create rules to manipulate the random draw, by setting the result directly, or changing the weighing of a particular choice
Provide statistics showing how many times each choice is picked (only valid for each application session)
Types of rules available:
Autocracy (The rule will always be valid)
Weekday (The rule will be active on specific weekday)
Day of Month (The rule will be active based on the current day in the month)

When working in office, it's difficult to decide where to have lunch, especially in urban like Hong Kong where huge amount of restaurants are densely packed in a small district. So during my last job I had an Excel macro to randomly pick a restaurant from a weighed list. And since I left that job and I wasn't able to bring that Excel file away from the company, so I wrote this app for the same purpose. And this is my first app and therefore it does not have many features in this initial release, but the idea is here - make a choice with your own manipulation.
The Chinese name of this app literally means the same as "Black Box Operations", pretty much describing what is happening in Hong Kong.

[APP][4.4+][NO-ADS]Organize Classical Music with the Unpopular Music Player

I spent lots of time and some money, so maybe this is useful for somebody:
The Unpopular Music Player - Organize and Play Classical Music on Android
Question: There are 1000 music players for Android. Why did this gentleman write the 1001st?
Answer: I have not tested all of these, but any player I tested suffers from the same design flaws, making it unattractive for non-pop-music. Basically the music files are presented in a way that is incomplete and unaesthetic. An example: There are "songs", called "Allegro", performed by "Mozart" -- which is quite improbable. So finally I wrote the app primarily for my own use.
What are the goals:
- Present classical music in its native way, i.e. organised with composer, work title, movements, conductor etc.
- Always show the full information, never truncate text with "..."
- Simple, minimalistic user interface, fast and easy to use.
- Do not use the term "song" for a symphony etc.
- As a side effect the app uses very low system resources.
To make things easy to understand I also created a simple video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ZlK8wREEmg
Characteristics:
- No advertisements or hidden costs
- Needs only the necessary permissions (access files), no internet access
- Starts with album list including cover pictures and then plays the album
- Various configuration options
- brutalstmöglich durchgegendert (If you do not understand that, don't mind: As far as I know there is no English translation for that, yet.)
Limitations (trying to honestly list all of these, comments are welcome ...):
- Needs Android 4.4 or higher
- Only plays local files
- Relies on correct mp4 or id3 tags. I recommend kid3 for tagging.
- Cannot access the internet to get missing album covers etc.
- No play lists or advanced filter and search functions
- No animations or other visual effects
- Only German and English localisations
Download:
As this is my first Android project I followed the usual way and uploaded it to Google Play:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.kromke.andreas.unpopmusicplayerfree
It's also available via Amazon. I have not decided yet if to publish the source code, that might depend on my spare time.

Last words:
Although this is my first Android project, the Unpopular Music Player is not my first software project at all, so hopefully its design is not too bad. Additionally I am currently writing a more sophisticated successor that shall be capable of advanced filtering like "Show me all baroque music that contains the term KONZ whose composer is Telemann and has been performed by the NDR Radiophilharmonie".
Addendum: I also wrote a more advanced media player with database query and search functionality, different views, including folder views etc.: The Opus 1 Music Player. Ask me for a promotion code in case you want to test it, you can then skip the payment procedure.
The program is now "open source" and available from F-Droid.

I've started to develop Algeo way back when I was in college studying engineering. Builtin calculator apps lack many features one needs in advanced math: variables, complex numbers, predefined constants, graphing. So I decided to build my own, and over the years I've added more and more features. It has basic calculus support now, builtin constants to speed up calculations and effective graphing.
It also has a nicely formatted input mechanism that displays formulas similar to LaTeX, instead of squeezing everything into a single line (see the screenshots below). I've found it much easier to understand when you have nested divisions and square roots.
Features
Physical constants
Symbolic Differentiation
Calculate Integrals (definite only)
Calculate Taylor-series
Solve Equations
Draw function
Sharing calculations
Function plotting and finding roots of functions
Combinatorial functions
Number theoretic functions (modulo, greatest common divisor)
Find min, max, intersections and roots on graphs
Themes (with in-app purchases)

Feedback
Please leave your comment or request in this thread, I will visit it regularly. Also, you can send an email to the following address: [email protected].
Thanks for your support! Enjoy it!
comparing to other similar apps, it s much smoother
well done ?
I've just released version 2.17! The biggest new feature, requested by many, is displaying graphs with polar coordinates. Until now, only cartesian plots could be drawn but there are many other type of plots (side note: I plan to include parametric functions as well in the future). With polar coordinates, you can draw spirals and circles as well. To switch between cartesian and polar coordinates, click on the top right button in the graph input screen.
All the changes in the new version:
Polar coordinates
Added French translation
Larger keyboard for phones with large screens
Fixed a bug with powers of large exponent
Fixed a bug with stuck keyboard on first start
I've uploaded a new version for Christmas, with a minor tweak: you can now slide the keyboard down. This lets you see more of your calculation history without excessive scrolling. Enjoy!
I really enjoyed the app, it is such a good replacement for my calc when I forget mine at home. Keep up the good work
I just wanted to send an updat, since December several minor version were released. These were mostly small bugfixes, for example sometimes after a parentheses power was placed incorrectly, looking ugly. Also fixed some crashes.
We have introduced an UI change that lets you easier call copy&paste options. Unfortunately, we have so far mixed reviews. If you have any comments on it, we would like hear it!
There is a new version on the play store! Aside from many small bugfixes, a new feature arrived to graphing: it is possible to make the axes always visible on the screen. This is useful if you are inspecting values away from the origin. Also, you can pull the keyboard down so more of the history is visible (this was actually in an earlier release but I forgot to mention it before )
I have included you app in my comparative review of advanced calculator apps.
