Need stock aosp sms/mms apk. - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello! I can't find default aosp sms/mms app and I really can't get used to Hangouts. Could anybody please send links to flashable zip or apk? I can't find it anywhere. Br

Hi,
Try this one in attachment. Put it in /system/priv-app, set the correct permissions like the other system apps and reboot.
Make a nandroid backup first, just in case... But I'm not sure it will work just as this, I don't know why  ... Try and see.
EDIT: attached a flashable zip.

[Q] Take an app from a custom rom

Hi!
I used for a couple of week a custom rom, the Galnet Miui.
Now I like to try an other rom, but I'd like to keep the Galnet's dialer and browser.
How can I get that apps? Is it easy?
Can I just copy the .apk in system/app in the zipped rom from a zip file to other?
And again... the browser is easy... browser.apk... but how can I recognize the dialer?
Thank you all!
Yes copy the apk to system/app, backup First cause the apk may not work properly, that's why I say backup, experiment all you want but once something goes wrong you have a backup plan , so just get the apk you want and push to system/app and install
NookColor Cyanogenmod 7.1 "Overclocked"
Thank you.
But what's the name of the dialer's apk?
make a backup of whole system folder, then you can test one by one =) DialerTabActivity may be?

[Q] Rom installed without the phone app, help please?

downloaded and installed latest build of illusion ROM.
its fantastic but i am missing the phone app.
its listed in system/app.
im able to make calls from the people app and from messaging.
I used ES explorer to get to System/app to delete phone.apk and replace it with a different one but it would nto allow me to overwrite or delete the apk.
id really like to try this ROM, anybody got any help?
in the meantime the only other idea i have is to reflash AOKP and see if it comes up.

I think it needs a modified Contacts.apk.

No you don't, but you need to get CWM and flashable deodexed files for your firmware.
Get the correct flashable deodexed files and flash in CWM to deodex your system apps. Then you can bring out and edit the Contacts.apk (or whatever apk name, I forgot) using apktool. There should be image files of the icon you don't like. You need to extract and recompile framework-res while doing this too.
Find the guide somewhere in this forum or other forum (similar things). At least these are what I did to modify SystemUI.apk previously, the process is similar.

[Q] CM Messaging .apk? [SOLVED]

Does anyone have a standaole Cyanogenmod Messaging apk I can push to /system/app or install on another ROM? I looked in the latest nightly zip, and did not find an Mms.apk. I also flashed the ROM just to make sure it was there, and yes it was. I also looked inside the /system/app folder on my phone after it installed, and I did not see an Mms.apk. Where is it stored?
Found it!
It's located in system/priv-app. No idea when/why it moved there. Also, if you flash the Paranoid Android GAPPS package (first one with everything), it automatically removes the AOSP/CM Mms.apk included. Hope this helps! Going to write a small tutorial as to how to avoid this problem in the future.

Porting these to a new phone is hard so take the android version you have and look for other samsung roms of the same version with the memo apk then install that apk and restore the data. A more experienced dev could tell you exactly what to do.

Can only know if you try.
The depenencies on these apks are on the touchwiz framework and stuff like that.
As long as the rom you take it from is a touchwiz samsung rom of the same version of android and the rom you put it on has the touchwiz framework then your fine but try it first.
If all else fails then you could be hacker and decompress the titanium backup zip file for your memo data and use an sqlite editor from the play store to see if you can read the memos that you left.
Or after that you could load the original rom up again and restore it on that or restore it on another of the same rom.(Another phone maybe)
