Deleting com.google.android.music in SD card - General Questions and Answers

Hello, hopefully this is the right place to post this, but I was going to format my SD card to exFat and I noticed a file in /storage/extSdCard/Android/data which is com.google.android.music and I was wondering if it okay to delete it. The file is filled with other files titled with weird characters and Idk if they are important or not. I unmounted the SD and it seemed like Google play music worked fine but I'm still unsure about deleting it. I just don't wanna screw myself. I was wondering if anyone knew what that file was. Thank you in advance!

I do believe they contain settings for Play Music? I'm not entirely sure. But don't delete it unless you get to know what it is... :good:

[Q] MicroSD Help Needed...

Hello,
When I load mp3 files on a microsd, the native music app doesn't see them. It only plays files loaded on the internal memory. The only app I've found that will see and play files on the external microsd is Rockplayer. Is this normal? I have tried different cards and the results are the same. I haven't found any apps, except Rockplayer, that see the removable drive. Am I missing something?
Thanks
i just put all the music on a micro SD and the native music app found them. It took a few minutes for it all to load but I didn't have to do anything special.
I am having the same issues. I posted in another thread as well. This might be a bug? Let me know, what you find out

what is format on external SD. If not FAT32 try that
Same here but I format my MicroSD card and problem solved. I didn't use the quick format not sure if that made a difference, set it at FAT32.
I have another problem with microsd but didn´t want to open up a new thread.
Most of the apps like Polaris Office, Documents to go, Quickoffice don´t let me access the microsd. The standard path is /mnt/sdcard an there is no way to go back to lower levels.
Anyone has the same problem or am I just blind?
Regards
Hachdach

[Q] Is there a fix for external storage on AOSP roms?

Brand new to the skyrocket, I have tried both CM9 and AOKP and have issues with external storage. My gallery pull all my pics from the external perfect so i know the o/s is seeing it. When i use astro file search nothing shows up on my external, and when i go to play music through my blutooth, google music wont play anything and jetaudio plays but cuts in and out. Is this a common issue everyone, and is there a fix for it?
Both my internal and external work fine on aosp roms. Are you saying you can't find the internal SD?
Sent from my SGH-I727 using Tapatalk 2
My internal works fine.Google music recognizes music on my external but says it can't access
the files to play them.jetaudio will play them but cuts in and out.
If I open astro file manager and choose external SD nothing shows up
Have you tried fixing permissions? I always try that when something isn't quite right.

Fixed permissions, rebooted, opened astro file manager,
Clicked on external SD,it says directory empty. I also noticed jetaudio is only recognizing
A portion of my music. I don't get it. I would normally think its a bad install,
But I do a complete wipe everytime and it does the same thing with Cm9
Are you selecting external SD from within the emmc folder? That will show as empty. To see the contents go up one level in the directory and select SDCard. That is external and emmc is internal on AOSP Roms.

Thank you,that worked,sometimes I am an idiot.lol. now if I can figure
Out why google music wont play any of my music, everything would be
Perfect.
I had the same problem, drove me to the brink of insanity, lol. I flashed another rom and decided it wasn't good so I flashed back and somehow everything worked. Not sure how but it worked.

Glad that was it. I believe there is some instructions for deleting the media db files in the CM9 thread in order to force a rescan. Try searching "media db" in there.
Thanks are great, thanks button is better

Solved-thanks for everyone's help, this is what I had to do to fix the music issue.
Uninstall music apps, use root explorer do to data/data/android.com.provider.media,delete database folder, boot into recovery, delete cache, reboot, reinstall music app

save music on external sd

Hi there, I have searched here and cannot find the answer. How can I get music to automatically save to my external sd card? Right now everything saves to my internal and I have to move it to my external. My pics save to sd card because there is a setting under camera.
I am running stock, unlocked BL and rooted
Thanks
Your post is rather vague since you don't say how you're downloading music in the first place. Are you referring to Google Music or something else? Anything you download from the internet is either downloaded to wherever you specify or only to your internal "Download" folder.

Sorry....I use an app called Gtunes music downloader from the play store.
I will look and see if I can play with the settings within the app.
Thanks

Play Music cache

The cache for Play Music on my phone is getting to be too much and sometimes even becomes too big for the available memory I have internally. Is there any way I can get it to cache externally? Or have the "pinned" music to save to an external sd card?

Anyone?...
I realize googles basis for streaming your music vs storing it on the device, hence the lack of external storage options in their flagship phones (which is without a doubt the root of my problem).
My question is has anyone figured out a way to have the app pin your music to an ext sd card? I thought maybe having it installed on the ext sd would help but I want to know what you guys think before I do that (not that I know how, lol).
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2
Luckily it's in the settings settings>clear cache
Edit: read your question wrong, sorry. Try moving the folder itself
Edit: You can use a file manager to set the folder the music usually stores to to link to a folder on the ext SD Card

Storage issue

So I have had my S7 for a few weeks now, and for the most part, it's the best phone I've ever owned, at least top 3, just hope root comes soon
I do however have an issue.. well 2 part issue... when I deleted a large file from my internal storage, it didn't give me the 5 or 6gb back in empty space, 2ndly.. I can't seem to save downloads to my SD card, I don't know if it's the card itself or a setting I'm missing...
Any help is appreciated
No one has any ideas or advice?
Anything helps

Hey dude. Pretty sure it can't write direct to the sd card unless you adopt the sd card into internal memory. I've just saved it then moved it. Sucks but it works
Sent from my SM-G935T using XDA-Developers mobile app
Ok that helps with writing to the card, any guesses on why the file I deleted from my internal seems to have permanently taken up like 6gb?
when I explore the storage of my internal storage it has 15gb listed under "other" but there's literally nothing inside ANY of the files
OK. This thread can be deleted, apparently the issue was with the app "ES file explorer" i wasnt aware it had its own recycle bin that kept files in case they were deleted by accident. I emptied the bin and gained 17gb of space lol

If you use the stock Samsung Browser there is an option in settings to use sd-card as your spot to receive downloads. Hope it helps.
