What app can I use to use my phone to stream MKV videos from my DLNA server to DLNA device? Tried Bubble and a bunch of others, non work with mkv.
Dont need a player, just something to stream to another device.

I'm not sure what you are asking as you don't make it plain where your DLNA server is installed. What devices you want to stream it to and what relationship your phone will have to these devices.
All that aside I have yet to find video format that PLEX can't deal with and aside from the Plex apps it's totally DLNA compliant

I have a Ubuntu Home Server running MiniDLNA. I want my phone to access the library of the server, select a file, then play it to my Xbox One as the renderer.
I've tried Plex through BubbleUPNP and It doesn't work.

It would appear to be an Xbox One DLNA issue. There is a thread on the Plex forums about it here https://forums.plex.tv/index.php/topic/87245-xbox-one-dlna-problems/

I don't want to download the files from the server and then locally convert it it, watch it, and delete it when it's done.
(The reason I want to stream)
Thanks for the suggestion though.
Some videos files like MKV, VOB, MTS, etc are not supported by DLNA at the moment. In usual, MPEG1, MPEG2, MPEG4 are the typical supported formats by DLNA. To make MKV, VOB files DLNA compliant, you can convert MKV, VOB to supported HD file formats by DLNA using some tools on Google.

Does anyone know of a way to watch streaming video on your laptop from your Thunderbolt? So lets say I am streaming video from JetFlicks, is there a way to watch the samething on my laptop monitor? Basically a monitor out.
Use the connected media app. I guess that would only work if you had it downloaded it to your phone...

He is talking about getting the video to play, not how to share the internet connection.
I know you can do it the other way around, from a pc to the TB, but i'm not sure if there is a way to do what you are trying to do.

What can a TB stream, that a PC can't? i.e. why stream it on the TB and display it on a PC, when you can just stream it directly on the PC?

I'm with you on that, don't understand, but its something the OP is asking about.
Yes, the TB has DLNA support for streaming from the phone to your computer or TV provided you have the phone and PCs connected to the same WiFi network.
In the media gallery click the video you want to stream, then press menu, select player, and your pc should show up if you have Windows media player open and the settings set for streaming.
You can also use an app to stream like Twonkey, but be prepared to download a PC server version to your pc as well.
The question is about displaying video being streamed to the TB on a PC. I don't think it can be done. A DLNA server on the TB (like twonkey) will stream media files to a PC (no special client needed on Win7, just use WMP), but I don't think you can pass through a stream to a stream.
oh, I see what he meant now. Technically you can stream a stream, depending on the app. For "tv streams" and "movie streams" if you stream from a server (not Megavideo) that allows you to use an outside video player you can. These are the only two apps I personally know of that allow it though.

Hi all,
I just got my Xoom in the mail yesterday so please forgive me if this seems like a really NOOB question but...
I was trying to watch some movies on my Xoom from a mobile website that I have used / watched without any problems on ALL of my other mobile devices including my SGS I9000M, Nexus S AND my HTC HD7 Windows Phone but when I try to watch these vids on my Xoom I immediately get an error stating that "this movie cannot be played".
I looked in my applications drawer and I do NOT see any "Movie Player" or "Video Player" app listed and this has me quite confused.
If there IS a stock "Movie / Video Player" can anyone tell me where it is hiding on the device and if there is NOT a stock "Movie / Video Player", can anyone tell me what the best app from the market would be that will play videos directly from the web in a seperate media player?
Thanks in advance...
There is not. Videos are tied into the gallery. I use MoboPlayer as a video player from the market.

Im using rock player, it played EVERY video file i have asked it to run.
try diceplayer
Rock/Mobo/Vital/vPlayer can not use hw decoder when playing file that isn't supported by system like MKV(+DTS/FLAC).
Diceplayer can play MKV/M2TS files using HW Decoder.so
diceplayer use almost same power as stock player. sw codec base player need more power.
Xperia Play have QSD8255. it can play 720p High level 3.1~4.1
I had issues with RockPlayer on my XP, can't remember if I tried MoboPlayer.
I'm using arcMedia Player and that has played everything I have thrown at it.
Android's media playing capabilities definitely seems to be weaker than that of iPhone and Windows IMHO.

You just access the media server address in your browser and use the web interface to find the video you want that way. Then choose Mobo Player to play the video.

Thanks for mentioning of diceplayer - i tried it and seems good for everything but cannot play WMV files - it has an option to play them stock but regardless of what I set it too does not play them.
you dont need a DNLA server such as ps3media center or tversity to stream your media.
Install the cifs/tuns modules (or flash my system.img with it all built in) and use cifs manager to map your pc's network drives to your sdcard.
You can now stream video, pictures and audio over your wifi network without any extra software running on your PC.
and if you wanna get tricky you can run a vpn to your pc and connect to it and stream music while away from your house ;D

Thanks for the recommendation on arcMedia. It worked flawlessly with .avi, .div, .divx, .srt subtitles in spanish failed with accented letters and non-english characters but japanese subtitles worked perfect, and they look really sharp.
Even though MoboPlayer was recommended by a lot of people and someone reviewed it (I searched for that thread but I couldn't find it again), .divx wasn't recognized as a video file, .div closed after a split second and .avi's audio was out of synch like hell. I didn't even check if subtitles were supported.
Mobo has worked the best transfered plenty of BR Rips from PB and they look amazing on the xplay. People at work are like wtf.

don't know about vpn but get "File Expert" from the market and you can map network drives (including NAS drives, i.e. PC can be off) and stream video via wifi (dice player or other players supporting your formats will be needed, otherwise your are limited to MP4 format) - I mapped my NAS device using internal IP address - don't know how secure it would be if you enable external web access to it through external IP and not sure if it would work as an FTP or something for downloading only not streaming possibly.
I use upnplay for streaming over a network in conjunction with moboplayer works great (probably the 2 best free apps iv ever come across).
Im interested in setting up a vpn to access my content whilst out and about or through someone elses wifi. Might have to invest in a sling box

I use Wyse PocketCloud from the Market to access two machines at work - one via remote desktop to take control of it, one with UltraVNC to share with other people on it. But if it's file sharing not just using your PCs' desktops - one of the guys here uses remote desktop to put files he needs into the Dropbox remotely, then picks them up in the Dropbox on his mobile. I don't use Dropbox yet - want to try setting up external access to the network files first to see how they work in File Expert if at all. Maybe TUN/CIFS modules are better for that but I haven't tried them out either.
Mobo Player the best!
and for audio FYI, i'd go for PowerAMP!
I'm using rock player, no issue for me so far.
I have been trying to find an app that will allow me to stream music and video's to my phone. I found the GMote app and it worked well for what it is, but it will not play back to my phone any video that isn't .mp4 it seems. AKA - .avi and xvid. Is there some other app that I haven't found that will allow me to steam these to my phone? I did a search through the forums and couldn't really find anything. Thanks in advance.

Is there a way to stream video from a pc to the transformer? Using something like ps3 media server?
Sent from my LT15i using XDA App
Being lazy I just play it on the PC and use SplashTop via MyCloud->My Desktop to watch it from my TV, or I will play locally using a file or mount (SMB/CIFS/SSHFS).
Past that, you should probably look in the MARKET for client software to deal with what your server software uses. If you don't know what the server software is, you should find out first .

Look into Zumocast - there is a version that works on the Transformer floating around... Allows you watch videos, play music and just transfer files from a remote PC over the internet... Works great!
