[Q] stuck at boot, issues with recovery... - Asus Transformer TF700

Hi,
After I upgraded it to (ASUS) JellyBean and created a second user on it, my TF700 got slower and slower. Boot times were longer and longer, until it didn't boot at all. I'm trying to fix it, and need some help. My TF700 is not unlocked, and not rooted (plain stock, I just updated the firmware through OTA).
Here is the situation, all done not docked on the keyboard and unplugged from the charger (note that the tablet is correctly charging (yellowish light when plugged, turn green after some time)):
"Normal boot"
When I press the Power button, I feel a vibration, but either :
- (most of the time) nothing appears on the screen
- or on some occasion that the logo appeared, then changed the silver 3D and ... it reboots (sometime it doesn't even reach the silver logo, it just reboots from the white one) [note : I managed yesterday to reach the home screen, but it rebooted 30s after I entered the unlock pattern]
"reset" with pin in side hole
Didn't appear to do much... (when I was stuck after hard reset (see below), it just turned the screen black)
"Hard reset"
Pressing Volume Down & Power, I managed to get to the recovery menu. I get this
Android cardhu-user bootloader <1.00 e> released by "WW_epad-10.6.1.14.8-20130514" A03
Key driver not found.. Booting OS
Starting Fastboot USB download protocol
Then I have 3 choice : RCK, Android, Wipe data.
- if I proceed with "RCK", I get :
Booting Recovery kernel image
Signature match
Then I get the Android "droid robot" 3D logo with "installing system update" (or something like that, since my system langage is not in english), then I get the Droid lying, open with a "!", and under that "Error".
- If I proceed with "Android" : I get
Cold-booting Linux
Booting failed
Unrecoverable bootloader error (0x00000000).
- If I proceed with "wipe data" : it goes through, and back to the 3 choices (RCK, Android, Wipe dat).
Firmware on microSDCard
1) I put WW_epad_user_10_4_4_20_UpdateLauncher.zip on a microSD card, renamed it EP201_768_SDUPDATE.ZIP, put the microSD card on the TF700, rebooted with VolumeDown &Power, but get the same thing as above :
Android cardhu-user bootloader <1.00 e> released by "WW_epad-10.6.1.14.8-20130514" A03
Key driver not found.. Booting OS
Starting Fastboot USB download protocol
and the 3 choices : RCK, Android, Wipe data. I proceeded with "RCK", and got :
Booting Recovery kernel image
Signature mismatch
Booting failed
Unrecoverable bootloader error (0x00000000).
2) I put WW_epad_user_10_6_1_14_8_UpdateLauncher.zip on a microSD card, renamed it EP201_768_SDUPDATE.ZIP, put the microSD card on the TF700, rebooted with VolumeDown &Power, but get the same thing as above :

Can anyone tell me how I can fix this ?

You are pretty close - but you neglected to unzip the downloaded firmware file ONCE, the result should be a zip called "US_epad-user-10.6.1.14.8.zip".
That's the file you need to rename to EP201_768_SDUPDATE.zip, copy to a microSD, insert it and boot into recovery. This time the recovery will recognize it and flash it.
But use the 10.6.1.14.8 firmware. The bootloader will not allow you to flash ICS firmware (that's the signature mismatch you got earlier).

Now stuck in recovery loop...

Thanks, I missed the unzipping stage.
So did the unzipping, renaming, copying, inserting and booted into recovery. Looks like the recovery did recognize it : I had Android "droid robot" 3D logo with "installing system update" and a blue bar underneath ... but after approx 5mn it rebooted at once to the same screen/message, and has been doing so (reboot fater reboot) for an hour. I powered OFF and ON : the white ASUS logo appeared, with a grey bar underneath (and a bit of light blue at the beginning of the bar) ; the bar filled with ligth blue and I was locked here. I reseted with the pinhole ; I have bee trying to re-run recovery, but can't managed to do so (the tablet is virbating when I hold the key, but he screen stays black (that was previously the case 3 times out of 4, now it seems it's 4 out of 4)
Any clue ?

That sounds really bad my friend. If you cannot get into the bootloader menu with Volume Down and Power, it's time to send it in to Asus. I hope you are still under warranty. This baby is a brick....

Am not anymore under warranty
I don't seem to be able to boot on recovery : I just get the white ASUS logo, with a grey bar underneath (and a bit of light blue at the beginning of the bar) ; then the bar fills with ligth blue and :
- most of the time stays locked here
- on the last occasion, the tablet rebooted, show the regular white Asus boot logo, then the silver Asus logo, then rebooted and so on (loop).
Too bad for I'm leaving a week for a 28 hours travel (3 fligths, with lots of waiting time), and I'd really whish I could have my tablet for watching series/movies. Not to mention the 19 hours travel back
----------------
update : I gave it one more try after it stopped looping in "normal" reboot. I did manage to boot in recovery, selected RCK (still with the 10.6.1.14.8 firmware) ; it does the same as previously => Android "droid robot" 3D logo with "installing system update" and a blue moving thin bar underneath ... but after approx 3 or 4mn, the bar stopped moving for 1 mn, and the tablet rebooted (well it looks like reboot : the screen turns black - backlighted, then not backlighted, then backlighted again) to the same screen/message, is looping in reboot after reboot)

If your tablet were unlocked with a custom recovery, there would be quite a few options to try. It seems to me that the initial flash of the firmware goes ok and then it hits a roadblock somewhere - possibly a corrupted partition...?? But with only the stock recovery and without fastboot - very little you can do.
If you get into the bootloader menu again, try the other options: Push Volume Down twice to highlight 'Wipe Data' and then Volume Up to execute. Maybe that clears whatever is blocking the flash. Selecting the Android and pushing Volume Up would boot you into system.... if you had a working OS....
Just try any combination of the above - there's nothing you can do wrong at this point.

Well, I have access to fastboot. lj50036 is helping me out. I'm applying the commands from this page http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2538028 , starting from "sudo fastboot devices" (skipping the Nvflash part at the beginning of the post).
It did hang on the commands "sudo fastboot -w", "sudo fastboot erase misc", "sudo fastboot erase cache" -> I manually rebooted into flashboot/recovery each time.
But it also hangs during flash of the firmware, and this one I cannot skip... :
[email protected] ~ > sudo fastboot -i 0x0B05 flash system /media/mint/D/boot.blob
erasing 'system'...
OKAY [ 2.248s]
sending 'system' (800927 KB)...
OKAY [123.853s]
writing 'system'...

No, it's still stock. The file "boot.blob" is the stock Asus firmware ; I need an unlocked bootloader to flash it from my PC ?

Is there any possibility to unlock the bootloader from a PC attached to the tablet through USB ?
(I guess I learned at leats something in the process : one should unlock its bootloader as soon as the warranty expires..)

Sorry - the only way to unlock is with the Asus Unlock tool, which is an apk you have to install and run on the tablet.

Fastboot not working after NVFLASH restore, unable to upgrade to JB bootloader!

Ok guys. I really need your help now.
I tried and tried again before posting but after searching on the entire forum I've not found the solution to my problems.
The situation is as follow:
After an Nvflash Restore I'm back to ICS bootloader and firmware.
ICS firmware boot well and I'm able to use my TF300TG without problem at all on ICS.
But now I want to upgrade to JB bootloader to run ParanoidAndroid.
If I Power + Vol.Down I can read:
"The Device is UnLocked."
"Android cardhu-user bootloader <2.10 e> released by "WW_epad-9.4.4.40-20120704" A03"
"Checking for Android ota recovery"
"Checking for RCK.. press key <Vol_Up> in 5 sec to enter RCK"
The problem is that if I wait the 5 seconds without pressing any buttons the Pad don't show me any choice and go straight to the next screen:
"Platform pre os boot configuration..."
"Cold-booting Linux"
And then I'm on ICS working firmware.
I CAN'T enter in fastboot mode. I'm only able to enter in APX mode with Power + Vol.Up
And last time I was able to upgrade to JB bootloader it was via fastboot flash. All other methods have always failed.
How can I restore fastboot on my Pad?
I've tried to download the "WW_epad-user-10.4.3.9.zip" file in my sdcard and the Pad recognize the update.
But after reboot the pad goes in recovery and after a few seconds I can see the image of the droid with the red "!" signal lying on the floor.
I've tried also with "dlpkgfile" file but maybe it was not for my version of the Pad -> WW 10.4.3.9 TF300TG
I don't know what else to do..
Ok. Now I'm back on fastboot.
I've nvflash restore using a blob file of last update "WW_epad-user-10.6.2.6.zip".
This one directly boot into fastboot with Power + Vol.Down.
Unhappily the pad in this way does not reboot in JellyBean OS. It remain stuck during the second ASUS logo.
I can't go in recovery mode like this.
Only fastboot working this way but if I try to flash a blob file via fastboot the pad give me a message "insufficient memory" while trying to write the system..
Anyone can help me??

Stuck at google

Hi My nexus s, i9020a, is stuck at google. I can get into fastboot (vol+ and power) but i got a Andy (android green guy) on his back with a ! in a red triangle if I select recovery. Got that while i was playing with tasker (music on when face down profile, nothing to do with boot), but had some longer than usual boot before so might be unrelated. I am not rooted.
Trying http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1787169 but at step #11, phone ask me if i want to unlock, no is selected, use vol+ to select yes. then go strait back to fastboot screen, still lock in lock state, and in cdm, FAILED <remote: Erase fail> finished total time: 7.813s.
any clue what i should do next?
Find the odin images for your device and boot the phone into download mode. I will send you the links in a bit.
Nexus S i9020A
looking for the file, should be in .tar right?
found sojua-imm76d-factory-76ad4959.tgz but not sure it is the right one
or this one is better http://sexynexus.blogspot.ca/2012/06/flashing-with-odin-i9020a.html

[Q] How to recover a bricked A510? Bootloader can't be unlocked!

Hi folks,
I have been using Acer A510 for almost 1 year now, and upgraded 7 months ago to the latest JB OTA. I haven't ever rooted it.
Since 2 days, it can't boot suddenly, stuck with the following error message:
Booting failed
Bootloader vJB-d0ca683: Starting Fastboot USB download protocol
Click to collapse
After a bit of Googling, I tried to unlock the bootloader, as a way to recover the tablet. But that keeps failing as well:
[ [email protected]: /tmp ]# fastboot oem unlock
...
Click to collapse
At this step, I can see the unlock icon and played with Vol+ and Vol- to quickly select the "Unlock" option, and this is what I get on the tablet:
Unlocking...
Bootloader vJB-d0ca683: Starting Fastboot USB download protocol
Click to collapse
And on the computer (kind of error messages that are of no help):
...
FAILED (remote: (Unknown error code))
Click to collapse
So it appears the bootloader can not be unlocked, and I can not even enter the recovery.
I've read somewhere that it may be possible to recover in APX mode.
So is there any way to recover it (either through the bootloader or through APX mode)?
Thanks for your help!

I get exactly the same problem this WE :crying:
I never root/flash/play with recovery or anything else.
Tablet shutdown by itself, then after restart I get trouble to boot :
First the Android said it was unable to start due to encryption : "encryption unsuccessful > need factory reset". Even if I NEVER activate encryption !
I try couple of reboot without suceess, then now it stop on Acer logo and go to fastboot mode at each startup.
Then I have exactly same trouble : impossible to unlock bootloader using fastboot.
No way to flash something.
Need help !
If fastboot is available, you can try to boot CWM Recovery or TWRP recovery
fastboot -i 0x0502 boot C:\....\cwm-recovery.img
From there you can try a factory reset

It doesn't work as the bootloader is still locked !
Code:
FAILED (remote: bootloader is locked.)
And it's impossible to unlock bootloader as describe in the post.
Any other idea ?
You can try to download the full ROM from acer Web Site (GEN1 or CUS1 depending on what you had before)
rename it to update.zip and put it on your sdcard
Reboot your tablet in recovery if you can to flash it, or in bootloader (don't remember if the Acer bootloader can flash an update.zip)

Its 2015 now but i will post this anyway..
Try this
1st, Boot into recovery:
- Press [vol-] + [power]
- Once the tablet vibrated, let go [power] and keep [vol-].
- Now the tablet vibrates a second time, let go [vol-] and press [vol+] quick
- Once the text that appears on the screen ("loading recovery kernel image"), let go [vol+].
2nd, choose "Wipe data cache & factory reset" via volume rocker and power button to select it.
3rd, choose "reboot"
I solved mine using that steps, hopefully it will solve yours.
Thank you very much!!! It worked for me!

Hello everyone, it may be late for you but i found a solution for a bricked A510 :
for my part i only had access to bootloader unlock and fastboot, but it didn't communicate with my laptop
So i found a software called DriverHub and launched it with my A510 connected to my laptop
It found the right driver for it (was not the of from Acer or any universal ADB driver) and i could use the fastboot mode to unlock OEM and flash TWRP, and now i have Cyanogen running on my tab who came back from dead
Here's a link to the software : www drvhub net
Have a nice day

asus tf300t adb fastboot no issue need help svp

Hi all, i need help for my ASUS TF300T :
Symptoms:
- Boots to Asus screen with nVidia logo at the bottom-right
- Behavior is constantly rebooting to the asus screen until battery is dead
- Hold down VOL- and PWR, goes to Asus bootloader with the following options from left to right: RCK, Android, USB and Wipe Data.
- Recovery Kernel causes it to give me the error "unrecoverable bootloader error (0x00000000000000)"
- Choosing the Android does nothing.
- Wipe Data causes it to give me the error "unrecoverable bootloader error (0x00000000000000)"
- Choosing USB gives you the text "starting fastboot USB download protocol"
I tried all i found on XDA, but it don t want to "writing".
ADB dont work, only fastboot.
Last try :
Steps:-
1. Download the latest ROM from ASUS website Which matches your SKU.(Important).
It would look somehing like this (TF300T-TW_epad-10_6_1_15_3-UpdateLauncher . zip)
2. Extract it and rename that file to ( EP201_768_SDUPDATE.zip )
3. Now copy this new renamed file to SDCARD (Root of sd card). Put the SDcard into tablet.
4. Now Press and hold Volume Down + Power for a few seconds. Then you will see the ASUS recovery options.
5. 3 icons will appear: RCK, Android, and Wipe Data. The RCK should be flashing green. Press the UP Volume Key Once.
Now wait for a few minutes. It will flash the ROM.
And wola! Your TF300T will again work fine!!
No effect.
All command stop at "writting".
Any idea ?
if fastboot is working try this with computer plugged

Any idea ?

Factory mode formats ALL data? Start up failed, only bootlader problem?

Hello guys, I try to explain myself as best as I can.
I have a Motorola Moto G7 power NOT rooted.
I tried to clean the cache from the menu that appears with Volume down+Power on. I chose "Recovery mode" but no menu appeared. So I chose "Factory mode", I thought that various voices appeared, but from that moment the phone hasn't started up anymore and he tells me:
Code:
start up failed
your device didn't start up successfully
use the Software Repair Assistant on computer to repair your device
AP Fastboot Flash Mode (Secure)
No bootable A/B slot
Failed to boot Linux, falling back to fastboot
Fastboot reason: Fall-through from normal mode
I downloaded that software but it will flash the device.
I have already tried:
- "restart bootlader": it remains on recovery mode.
- "recovery mode": for half a second, the Motorola logo appears and then:
Code:
start up failed etc
No bootable A/B slot
Failed to boot Linux, falling back to fastboot
Boot up failed
- "start": same error above
Now, beyond the fact that I ****ed up and I am aware of it, can I recover only the bootloader? When I chose "Factory mode" none writing appeared, so... it's possibile that my phone was completely formatted in one second? I thought the data, settings, etc are still there but it just screwed the bootloader, is it possible? And how to fix it? I found only guide to flash the phone.
Thanks.
Solved!
Luckily, "factory mode" did not cancel my data, I searched better on the forum and found a way to flash the original firmware without losing data. The Software Repair Assistant flashes only with complete formatting, so you have to change a string of a flashfile.xml before flash with the Software Repair.
Thanks to here and here for the instructions, here a summary:
(The program does not have the download progress bar. You can see the full download from:
- the Rescue now button turns orange
or
- the complete file in C: \ ProgramData \ LMSA \ Download \ RomFiles \ YOUR_FILE.xml )
Once the firmware is downloaded, don't continue with flashing.
Open C:\ProgramData\LMSA\Download\RomFiles
Select the firmware for the device you want to flash
Open the flashfile.xml with a text editor like notepad++ (https://notepad-plus-plus.org/) (I used standard notepad)
Delete this line
Code:
<step operation="erase" partition="userdata"/>
save the changes
Continue the flashing with LMSA
Click to collapse
At the end, the phone turned on as I left it, apps, data, settings, everything
PS: you can find the Software on the official lenovo support

Edit:
I'm not sure why selecting factory mode would cause such a problem.
Glad you got it working again.
