First time custom ROM flasher here,
I am running the Google Edition 4.4.2 ROM by danvdh for the T-Mobile Galaxy S4 (SGH-M919)
ROM thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2539361
I have noticed now that I am running this ROM I cannot play WMA audio files. I've never heard of audio codecs for mobile phones, but if this same issue were occurring on my PC, it would be the first thing to come to mind.
Do I need to install some codecs? If so, which codec packages do people recommend?
Thanks in advance for any responses.

Hey everyone,
so i just flashed a new rom and for some reason the stock video player was not included in the rom, and since its the only player that does hdmi out i really need it lol. and yes it is a sense based rom.
So does anyone have the stock video player apk or know where i could get it, thanks.
First of all I want to thank everybody on XDA for their work and support...I've learned a lot since I discovered this forum.
I'm new to this ,in fact this is my first post and that's because I prefere to search for the answers I need...not this time.
My question : is it possible to enable the DSP manager that's buit in SultanXDA ROMs (4.4.2 ROMs)?I've tried both 3.0 and 3.4 kernel ROMs and DSP Manager effects don't seem to work in either ROMs.
Thanks

You're right, DSP is not working, maybe is because of some libs from DSP are missed.
I've just installed latest CM11 nightly on another device that I have (HTC One X) and guess what.....DSP Manager effects don't work....none of them.
It's not SultanXDA's fault so I'm sorry for blaming him for this.I'm almost convinced that DSP manager doesn't work in any CM11 based ROM.
Can anybody confirm this?
I know this thread's a little old, but it's close to the issue I'm having.
I'm on Sultanxda's KitKat 4.4.4. DSP Manager was working until I did one of the following:
- Changed from Dalvik to ART in Developer Options
- Force Stopped and Disabled Apollo in favour of a folder music player.
So, flat sound until I either get it fixed or find a decent folder-based player that doesn't splash adverts around.
Hi, I'm new to this. I was recently given a droid razr hd and I'd like to just use it as an mp3 player. It currently has android 4.4.2. Can anyone recommend a kernel that can increase the battery life? I've searched on google, but I'm not sure if the kernels are device specific. I apologize for any noobishness in my thread

4.4.2 stock or custom rom?
I'm thinking of either AOKP or MIUI
Hi, i would like to upgrade my infuse currently running with a 2.2.1 android version.
I have a couple of questions for you:
1) can you suggest me a stable rom for my device? I want to use it it as a simple media player for internet, video, music and skype calls.
2) can you please suggest me a sw to backup my original rom?
Thanks

I am biased, and there is no way to tell you the best ROM (very subjective).
Here is a recent review of the big three ROMs for this device:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=60489687&postcount=1054
Note that there was an unofficial build of CarbonROM that fixes the wakelock issue (as well as the datadata issue that was also patched in the other two ROMs).
To backup the original ROM, all you need is your recovery (CWM). but if you want to back up on an app-by-app basis (which is not what your question asks), the gold standard seems to be Titanium Backup.
Be sure to back up your EFS as well.
I'm looking for someone who can fix an audio problem on my Samsung tab 8.9. this tablet has an outdated android version "3.2" and It's the Chinese model sch-739. I searched on XDA in the hopes of finding a custom rom that will give it some new life but found nothing for my specific model, however, I've found custom roms for the global model "gt-p7300" of the same table. I flashed them on my Chinese tab and they boot up and work good except for audio and a few minor issues. after digging into the audio problem, we found out that the audio codec driver " wm8994" does not load when flashing P7300 firmware on my china P739 tab. after further testing, it turned out to be a kernel issue because flashing "original" p739 kernel on p7300 firmware got the audio to work. we already contacted Samsung and they gave us kernel sources for P739. so the job is to port P739 audio drivers to p7300 kernel so that audio works on p7300 roms...my budget is set to 200 USD
