I am experiencing 2 issues that I've been having since the first day I got the phone Nov 8th. Location services keeps showing me as being in a city 300 miles away on the complete opposite side of the state I live in. Also when I leave the clock set to auto time it will intermittently show a time that is 6 hours ahead which screws up a bunch of my Tasker profiles as well as clock alarms. It did it on stock as well as every version of SlimKat since alpha 1.1. I never had these issues with my previous phone on the same network(Sprint). Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this???

Hi!
- it happens randomly (while driving, overnight, during day)
- it always goes back by a random amount (from several minutes to several hours)
- it sometimes happens multiple times per day, and sometimes works fine for weeks
- i have enough of this, i always need to set up two devices to wake me up.
Any solution HTC masters?
Hey, I have the same problem... Anyone can help?
i had the same thing and nearly freaked me out BUT there is a fix:
in phone settings there is a tab GSM/UMTS services
deactivate time syncronization there and it never happens again
I switched it just like the exilkubaner said about two weeks ago, so far it never bumped back again. So I believe it works
Yup, also had the crazy thing when sometimes I woke up in the morning and my clock on the phone was at like 7pm or so.
tab GSM/UMTS services -> deactivate time syncronization did the job
The dreaded 'Sleep/Death' has returned. . . sort of!
My phone began turning itself off when the screen shut off only after long periods of time, while I'm asleep overnight.
This began after I went through Cognition 3.04 and set many things to my taste. It still took days before the problem started. I then re-set every thing back and the problem went away.
I'm now done to two possible items that could have caused the problem:
1) The 3D App Screen enabled (yes I know it says Experimental and may cause instability)
2) Sync disabled (an attempt to keep from having to delete tons of emails that have already been taken care of on my computer.)
At the moment I have the 3D App Drawer enabled and Sync ON, but, as I said, it will be a few days before the problem shows.
Any thoughts on why either of these two things would cause a phone turn off?
It seems to be the 3D App Drawer. That's the fastest it has happened about 14-15 hours. Just to make sure I now have the 3D animation and the Sync off and we'll see if it happens anymore. I'm certain I can live without it!
I am having an issue with my clock displaying the wrong time on occasion. I am using SlimKAT Stable 3.0 with Franco Kernel R37.
Sometimes my phone will display the time one hour earlier than it really is. I live in the Eastern Standard Timezone. So for example if it is actually 7pm my phone my say that it is 6pm. In the clock settings I have set my home timezone as Eastern Standard (GMT -4). When my phone is showing the wrong time it now has two clocks. The main clock will say 6pm and there is a second clock that says 7pm at home. It is like my phone thinks that I am traveling and I am not in my own time zone.
Restarting my phone fixes the problem every time but it is very annoying because I depend on my phone to be my alarm clock. I also noticed today that turning on airplane mode and then turning it back off will also fix the problem.
Any ideas on what may be causing this?

Help!
what happens if you have automatic time zone selected?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
The obvious is do you have automatic time zone selected? Who is your carrier? Do you have GPS issues on your nexus? Maybe post in slimkat thread to see if anyone else experiences this

What I was referring to with GPS is that if you have the wonky GPS problem it could think you are somewhere else and then notice you arent. You know what I am saying.

I know how to cure it. Turn off auto time zone. Download "atomic clock" that will sync it with.... An atomic clock any time you want, or when it is programmed to by you

I was having a few battery drain and stability problems so I decided it was time to do a fresh install of Android. The main culprit was Play Services but it was always a different thread and I could never get the problem under control. I was barely getting through a 16 hour day on a single battery charge even with only an hour of screen on time which is insane for these droid maxx's.
I flashed stock Android 4.4 and accidentally unrooted myself in the process, but that means I am 100% stock kitkat with the late April mini update.
I still have the Play Services battery drain bug.
I killed half my battery yesterday in like a half hour of screen on time and 7 hours of idle. The phone won't sleep. Google Play Services still shows as the culprit in the battery settings.
I've disabled Now, location settings, sync (it literally doesn't sync anything), wi-fi, and interest-based ads. (All tips I've seen from people that have had the bug across XDA). I've let Play Services update from 4.8 to 5.0. And it still won't let the phone go to sleep.
Anyone have any other thoughts on the issue? I'm ready to pull my hair out! I have no idea what's causing this bug but it's driving me up the wall.
BTW I don't have any meaningful screenshots right now because I'm not rooted yet. I'm going to try jcase's pie method to get root back and post via BBS, but in the meantime I've heard this is a fairly common issue, so I threw the post up in case anyone else has encountered and solved the problem. What I'll share in the meantime is that my phone has been off the charger today for 1 hr 39 min. Play Services has kept it awake for 1 hr 38 min.

Ive had this problem too... Only I am on 4.2.2. Only fix for me was either nandroid'ing back to a previous state [temporary fix] or using Xposed + WakeLock Terminator to prevent GPS from getting WakeLock [So far has been permanent for about 1 month]
There's a couple of ways to address this. As noted, this is an issue with the play services abusing the GPS. In addition, it's a problem with the stock firmware. As I am sure you want to continue using GPS, these options allow you to leave it on.
In the GPS configuration, it's possible to reduce or turn off access to GPS to individual apps.
There are apps that allow managing app permissions. You can use this to revoke access to various things. Use it to revoke play services access to GPS.
If memory serves me right, these don't require root.
I managed to get root back so what I'm experimenting with is the app ops settings. I'll report back with an update. Thanks for the ideas guys.
Anyone else seeing this? I googled it and seems other people have been seeing it. My will jump ahead by 6 hours, if I reboot its fine again. Any fixes for it?
The only thing that springs to mind is that your Date & Time settings are wrong. Have you checked your time zone is correct? Have you switched on Automatic Date & Time?
My N5 Marshmallow loses time
I've seen this since I updated to Marshmallow. My N5 steadily loses time. Rebooting fixes it, but it starts again.
Googling, I found others with the same issue. One of the fixes suggested - of disabling Battery Optimisation for apps that work with the clock - worked for me and for a week my N5 kept perfect time.
Today after some apps autoupdated, it's started losing time again - 2 minutes in the last hour. I have to figure out the offending app and disable Battery Optimisation for it.
It's frustrating, because I like Battery Optimisation. It improves my battery life unbelievably. But losing time is not acceptable, as I rely on my phone notifications for appointments and calls.
I hope Google releases an update soon.
It looks like its an old bug so I wouldn't hold my breath.
