Could it be that the 4.4.2 radio is not compatible with a rom that is 4.3 or lower?

I doubt it. I've just downgraded from 4.4.2 last night again and everything works perfect. Weird..

I suggested that because 4.4.2 needs the latest radio to work properly.

i downgraded also the modem firmware. (./flashall.sh; and manual flash with ./mfastboot....)
i tried the DE UK US retail 4.3 official stock images. but no luck.
i think the repacked firmware had something changed in the partition with some wlan settings.. maybe some drivers i don't know..??

Ok i solved my problem. Maybe it can help my solution to someone who have the same problem: I don't know why but my /persist/ folder was empty.. i had to diskdump the block of persist from my other moto g and copyed it on my briked one. then i had to edit the two bin files for bluetooth and wifi to set back the real MAC Adress (write down from the retail box)
now it works again without any problems.

I sort of missed the blueness of 4.3 and browsers on 4.4 were annoying me since Google switched the default browser engine to chromium's engine. Then i saw some screenshots i accidently took from kitkat and missed the nice transparent bars and white icons, and now i'm sticking with kitkat.
hi guys i need help if possible my moto g is stuck on the blue m logo after the boot animation its not a boot loop just stuck on the m. i reflashed the firmware again but no change i havent erased cache and userdata is that the reason?
thanks guys in advance
erased cache and userdata after the downgrade abd it boots normal.
your downgrading lol you MUST delete the userdata and cache or you'll be forever bootloop

I hope some has an answer to this.
1) I was on 2.3.3, rooted, and had made a complete Nanroid backup (boot.img, data.img, cache.img, nandroid.md5, recovery.img, system.img)
This was for:
Baseband: M200KRKB3
Build: GRI54
2) I manually updated to 2.3.4 and somehow lost root and CWM.
3) Due to a hardware issue (the headphone jack seems to have a loose
connection) I have to get back to 2.3.3 with the same Baseband so I can
go get the phone serviced. Since 2.3.4 was not provisioned here yet they
will reject servicing the phone under warranty.
My question: How can I do this?
I have tried to fastboot flash the files but that did not work.
I appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.
Did you upgrade from 2.3.3 to 2.3.4 successfully?
looks like I got same version than yours, but I can't upgrade successfully, I got error when I try to upgrade by Full ROM
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted
if you did it, could you please let me know how I can upgrade my phone?
Thanks

did you reflash the CWM recovery with fastboot?
what is the error?
with CWM recovery you should be able to nandroid restore ur backup!

hmm.. which nexus s type is that? I9023 oder I9020?
there are different CWM versions, do u use the correct one?
is ur fon still unlocked?
It is I9020 (but Korean version) and I actually forget which CWM I had used.
Phone is unlocked.
check out which u have.. there is a I9020T and I9020A i think.. (should be written beneath the battery)
then maybe download the CWM img file again, from one of the both guides in the stickies corresponding to those two models.
maybe u have a wrong version..
i didn't have problems flashing CWM after going to 2.3.4. (tho i have a I9023).
Ok I will try that...and let you know...
OK - almost there.
I got the restore done - BUT the baseband is still at xxKD1
I have the M200KRKB3 radio.img - how can I apply that?
that should be
Code:
fastboot flash radio M200KRKB3 radio.img
don't know if that's how ur radio image is named, just insert the name of ur file
Nope...that didnt work..
error: cannot load 'M200KRKB3'

what is the file named, M200KRKB3 radio.img? or M200KRKB3_radio.img with underscore?
if it doesn't have an underscore, maybe it can't find the file.. dunno :/

All done! And thank you so much for your advice and help! Really appreciate it.

I'm confused are you trying to update or run fxz. HoM doesn't use update it uses fxz file.

Did i d/l an update file and not an fxz file? The file I have runs in HoM but gives the error.

Hi,
I'm preparing to do the root update on my phone prior to taking the Kitkat update. I've read through the [4.4 ROOT] SlapMyMoto 1.0 (Requires you to be on 4.2.2) thread once. I'm still a little fuzzy, so I'm trying to read through some of the previous threads, but reading this led me to a question. I've seen multiple references to fxz and using that to restore to a previous version. Is this a utility of some sort like ADB? If so, where can I get it?
thx.

Thanks Khanusma,
I'll read that thread next. I know that the root from 4.2.2 to 4.4 mentions a few tools you have to use to prep before you do SlapmyMoto. I just didn't realize that fxz was part of HouseOfMoto.

To get to 4.4 you have to turn write protect off and then get on the 4.2.2 Camera update (which will take away root if you have it) and then you can SlapMyMoto (which will place a back door on your 4.2.2 which can be exploited after you get on 4.4). I was trying to do that but I cant get the 4.2.2 Camera Update FXZ to work.

Q&A for [ROM] CM 11.0 (Android 4.4) for RazrHD XT925/XT926
Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer. Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!
Is this the ROM for the XT926 from Dhacker? Sorry for a noob type question, but sometimes the ROMS have 926 in the file name which makes it easier for guys like me to know I am getting the right one.

Poor call quality
Has anyone else had the issue where there is poor audio quality in the earpiece? The audio is all crackly and fuzzy, and makes it very hard to understand. I'm not sure if it's hardware or software related right now, and am trying to find out. Another issue which I've had for the past couple months is that the maximum speakerphone volume is SUPER low, much lower than equivalent speaker volume for a youtube video or something. Might this be related (for example, the earpiece volume, which can now go to a deafeningly high level is actually using the gain meant for the speaker and vice versa (resulting in clipping of the signal going to the earpiece, and poor quality)?
Stuck in a boot loop between Motorola boot animation and CWM Recovery menu
Hi guys, Im looking for some help.
I'm a Razr HD (XT925) owner, unlocked bootloader, rooted and CWM 6.0.4.4.
I was running the latest CM 11 KK4.4.2 nightly. Lately it was a bit unstable (freezing and rebooting...sometimes stuck into the CM animation). Due to that I decided to give Epinter's [ROM] CM 11.0 (Android 4.4) for RazrHD XT925/XT926 a try.
Everything ran smoothly, without any sort of error but after the reboot, it got stuck into a loop between the Motorola boot animation, which keeps on my screen for approximately 30 secs, after that the screen turns black, the same Motorola boot animation pops up again, this time for a bit short time and finally, it brings me to the CWM Recovery menu.
I've tried to restore my CM11 KK4.4.2 image but it quickly shows me a message saying
"Checking MD5 sums...
MD5 Mismatch!"
Another strange facts:
After performing the wipe data/factory reset there are the following messages:
(Please note that Bold/Italic ones seemed sorta strange for me...maybe just because I'm being a noob though!)
"__Wiping data...
Formatting /data...
Formatting /cache...
Formatting /SD-ext...
Formatting /sdcard/.android_secure...
E:unknown volume "/sdcard.android_secure"
Data wipe complete"
E:unknown volume for path [/sd-exit]
MD5 checksum mismatch"
While trying to wipe Delvik cache the following message pops up:
"E:unknown volume for path [/sd-ext]"
So, atm, as you can imagine, my cell phone is sorta useless!
Can anyone help me?!?
Thank you in advance for your time and attention!
Cheers!
Edit 1: I've performed Wipe data/Factory reset, Wipe cache partition and Wipe Delvik cache before applying the Epinter's .zip and ggapps from my SD card. I did the same right before Epinter's .zip and ggapps both got installed without any sort of error message. I've did the same several times after the problem starts as well. In my last attempt of solving it by myself, I've repeated it all again since the the 1st step...all wipes and reinstalling both Epinter's and ggapps!
Edit 2:
I've managed to install from CWM an old .zip I found on my storage and my cell phone came back to life in the very same state it was!
Now, I was reviewing each step in order to try to install Epinter's CM11 KK4.4.4 and I've seen he wrote the following:
Recent versions (July/2014) requires an updated (KitKat) bootloader
After that, a doubt came to my mind...Could it be the cause of this mess I was stuck into? Is my unlocked bootloader JB or KK? How can I know it?!? If it is JB, how can I change it to KK?
If you don't updated to official KK you still on jbbl (Jelly Bean Bootloader)... So install latest snapshot (M11) or latest nightly from here: http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=moto_msm8960_jbbl instead epinter's old builds
Thanks and a heads up

Thanks a lot bro!
Well, in this case I'm pretty sure I'm running a JBBL then!
Believe it or not, after several wipe data/cache it is running...with some freeze outs and restartings more often than Id like but still...its running!
The link for the latest JBBL build is kinda broken (After choosing the latest build, it brings me to a 404 not found error page).
Thanks again and Ill come back in a few days when the link to the latest JBBL is working! As for the compatible GAAPS for the latest JBBL build...the same one Ive used alongside with Epinter's should be ok?!?

Taking as true the assumption that from now on the vast majority of ROMs to come will be made to be used on KKBL, wouldn't it be worth to upgrade to a KKBL now? Would it be too complicated since I'm not sure what was my default cell phone OS since I'm the 2nd owner and I've bought it from an ebay like site here at Brazil! Any tutorial links?
Cheers again!
What is gcm services and is it safe to force close it? It's eating my battery.

As it has been widely discussed multiple times on multiple threads on all the msm8960 device pages, if your device has not been given the official Moto Kitkat, or if you have not taken the official Moto kitkat update, you will use the moto_msm8960_jbbl builds. If your device has been updated to the official Moto Kitkat, you will use the moto_msm8960 builds.
All bootloaders come from Moto, not CM or another third party ROM developer, so no it is not possible to upgrade or downgrade your bootloader with a custom ROM. You can only do this using the sbfs and the guides here on xda.

Camera not initialise
Hey i tried the copy/paste method( placing the files in system/app), But then i'm getting the error "Camera not initialize". Can anybody help me, it will be Thankful...
As of late I'm experiencing problems with the Wifi tethering dropping my service. I've been running CM11 for awhile now with no major issues until recently
The problem I'm having is once I enable wifi tethering, hotspot becomes active and all is well. As soon as I connect a device to that network, my phone drops service. This will happen repeatedly. Every once in awhile the service will hold but it's only a matter of time before it drops again. This problem gradually became worse over time until it happens everytime.
Anyone experiencing this issue? I was hoping it was an issue with my current 20140609-SNAPSHOT but I just updated to cm-11-20141008-SNAPSHOT-M11-moto_msm8960_jbbl and still receiving the same problems.

After trying all night Im beyond frustrated now. Ive tried doing data wipe as well as cache partition wipe as well with no success, so I hope someone can tell me what im doing wrong. Prior to this I was already on the most recent OTA update from Fido Canada (4.4.2?) however this morning when I woke up it wouldn't turn on, when I finally got it to reboot it was stuck on NON-Animated Batwings logo.
Thanks in advance.

I think taking that ota might have made your device incapable of flashing the recovery ur trying.

U should be able to flash a recovery since your BL is unlocked. What exploit did u use to unlock it? I know myth tools can help with most Motorola's.

My beef now with a FIDO xt 925:
I was on kk 4.4.2, then once the fido kk update came out yesterday, I reverted back to rtfr, orphee script and root to check the gps on it. So after i test drove it i wanted to go back to kk using ceeeuropean, and orphee combo.
I believe my mistake was rooting right after flashing the modified OTA.
After i rebooted , all i get is preflash validation failed for gpt.
The phone wont take any flash now of anything, always throwing partition name error and remote failure.
I have good battery and surprinsingly the phone is charging evenin fastboot. I can see the phone on wIN8.1 my device manager, but nothing will make it move . Tried house of moto, checked with Samu, tried flashing rogers 4.1.2, then rtfr in case that is the base . But no go. Also, it is showing BL locked code 0 AND OF COURSE my BL was unlocked. Weiiiird mess.
Any input is appreciated.
If I understand it correctly, while your phone booted fine the last time, it had the new FIDO 4.4.2 gpt and tz (flashed via OTA update when going from FIDO 4.1.2 to FIDO 4.4.2, but your gpt and tz actually going from CEE 4.4.2 to FIDO 4.4.2).
So the issue seems to be caused by the fact that your FIDO 4.4.2 gpt and tz has been "downgraded" to CEE (RTFR) 4.4.2 gpt and tz by OTA script.
So your problem could be possibly fixed by flashing gpt and tz extracted from FIDO 4.4.2 OTA, via fastboot.
yes being on fido 4.4.2, the second step was going from it to CEE rtfr 4..1.2, and i flashed Orphee modified zip as i have it on my SD. Then the prob occured. Anything i try to flash it doesnt take. do i extract the gpt and tz and falsh with fastboot? I have the OTA posted by our fellow here.
i will try once i locate the cmd.
I see tz.mbn and gpt.bin
would that be it?
am on stand by.

Yes, gpt.bin and tz.mbn is it.
Code:
fastboot flash partition gpt.bin
fastboot flash tz tz.mbn
will report
looks as if i am booting ...isht i wasnt wrong when I thought you are capable .I am very grateful and will pay it forward.
Android is upgrading.....
I still dont grasp how the prob occured.
as i have a glitchy volume up, i can not easily boot to recovery when i flash it. Any cmd that works?
many times i tried fastboot reboot recovery
but it never works for me.
Also if you dont mind please, why is it when i flash a cmw recovery after say jelly bean , i am able to boot into it. But if i upgrade to KK, my device refuse to boot into recovery? some new security in protecting the recovery file?

i read this thread after i replied to the other one, glad you got it fixed.
im surprised fastboot worked. through helping to fix this error many times, i know it usually required Mfastboot to fix, thats why i made the special tool just to fix gpt errors.
i never had much luck booting into recovery with fastboot, so i just go with adb to do it "adb reboot recovery".
Hi guys!
I think I have maybe the same problem as you.
I can't flash the partition_signed of an official ROM(says invalid GPT) so I wonder how did you extract the gpt for flashing it?
if you did just like me then you can extract the one from 4.4.2 OTA canadian. let me know how you do. It is best to state how you got to where you are..
Okay!
But wait... where I can find it ^^?
edit:
i found a gpt.bin from an update of my region (Blur_Version.180.46.127.XT925.CEE-Retail.en.EU)
I will try tonight
Sounds good man, grab "tz" as well

Hi I just bought a XT1039 today and it came with the new 5.1 build out of the bos.
I've been reading the forums and it seems like there's no sure way to root and/or flash TWRP on Lollipop?
Does anyone know how I can do that? Or do I have to roll back to Kit Kat or something? Please help!

I have the xt1045 and I'm in the same boat. If I find a solution, I'll let you know.
Okay, CF-Auto-Root worked! The batch file says a red android will show up.. never did, but it worked anyway.

Hey there, can anyone tell me whether or not I can just use the TWRP version that can be downloaded on twrp.me?
I have the XT1039 with a unlocked bootloader and I am aiming to install TWRP and later CM/ResurrectionRemix if possible onto the device.
But first things first - TWRP is the thing that is missing. Anyone still using the phone?

TWRP for peregrine is available on twrp.me and it works fine - not sure what you mean with "missing".
Missing just personally on my phone
Alright thx will have a closer look!
I need to bother you again.
I have downloaded the latest twrp for the device but seem to be unable to get it up and running.
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
target reported max download size of 536870912 bytes
sending 'recovery' (8374 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.293s]
writing 'recovery'...
OKAY [ 0.301s]

fastboot reboot

Looking good, but after that - when I press vol - & power on I get into the fastboot menu. When choosing "recovery" in there, the screen goes black and nothing happens.
Any idea?
edit: I get a "mismatched partition size (recovery)" within fastboot... didn't notice until now. Any input on that?

No idea. It works fine on my XT1039. Try "fastboot boot twrp.img" to see if it starts that way. If it does, you could try copying twrp.img to the phone using adb push or mtp, then flash it to the recovery partition from twrp's "install image" feature.

Yes, that's normal. Ignore it.
Thx but somehow I wasn't able to get into recovery but every time in the system itself. Recovery was overwritten, I think. After 20 or so tries I finally managed to get it running.
Thx for your help
