I recently switched mobile operators.
When my previous operator deactivated their SIM, I popped in the SIM provided by my new operator. After entering the PIN code, I was connected to the new operator's network but I couldn't make any calls nor send text messages. I could surf the web via their 3G connection. I rebooted a number of times, but I couldn't make any calls so I went back to the provider's "shop".
They checked the status of my SIM and didn't see any reason why I shouldn't work, so they gave me a new SIM. They verified it in one of their phones and it worked, so I took it home. At home it worked at first, but pretty quickly after a few test calls it stopped working. I was still able to surf via 3G, but when I tried to make a phone call, I got an automated message saying my phone was blocked from the network for security reasons.
Here's where it gets strange: I have another Sensation that I use for testing. I popped the SIM in it, and I also got the automated message. But when I rebooted the test phone, it was working fine. Unfortunately, the screen of the test Sensation is cracked, so I wanted to use my primary phone. I put the SIM back in the original Sensation, and I was able to make and get phone calls!
But after about 30 minutes, the phone was blocked again. It doesn't help to reboot it, nor to revert to factory defaults. I even installed 3 different ROMs to no avail. The only thing that helps is to put the SIM in my second Sensation, where it will work on the second boot. I've had it there for the past 3 hours and a half, and I can still make calls.
For some strange reason, my primary Sensation does something that makes it get banned from the mobile network. Something that can be reverted by using a "good" phone. I have no clue what it could be. I have never experienced anything like it with my previous operator, and I've used my Sensation with different ROMs, kernels and radios on their network for 2 years!
Here are the technical specs of my two Sensations:
Primary Sensation (the one that gets blocked)
ROM: MIUI v3.12.20 (Android 4.2.2 JDQ39), I've also tried CM 10.2 and CM 11.0. CM 10.2 was installed when I was with my previous operator and never gave me any issues.
Kernel: 3.0.100-Sultan-kernel-r40
Baseband: 11.76A.3504.00P_11.24A.3504.31_M
HBOOT: 1.27.1100, S-OFF (Revolutionary)
Recovery: TWRP v2.6.3.0
Secondary Sensation (the "unblocker")
ROM: MIUI v3.11.8 (Android 4.2.2 JDQ39)
Kernel: 3.0.100-Sultan-kernel-r40
Baseband: 11.76A.3504.00P_11.24A.3504.31_M
HBOOT: 1.27.1111, S-OFF (JuopunutBear)
Recovery: ClockworkMod Recovery v5.8.0.9
What could cause my Sensation to get kicked off the mobile network?
try this
type in dialer *#*#4636#*#*
go to phone info and select WCDMA only or WCDMA preffered
see how it goes

Thanks for the suggestion. I didn't know that code.
I've been on the phone with the operator's helpdesk a number of times, and in the end I was transferred with one of their technical people.
He suggested my phone was blocked on IMEI level. I can't see a reason why, but it made sense looking at the symptoms. He suggested I log a case with the operator to check if the phone is really blocked and to unblock it.
So for the moment I will be patient and let the tech support people do their work. I'll post the result.

Hello, I have a big problem with my Nexus S Eur (I9023 SLCD)
I bought it used but almost new, and no bill…
The phone, not modified, worked fine for 3 months. (2.3.4 GRJ22)
But one day I could no longer use the calls and SMS, while the Internet connection (3G) worked fine.
The majority of other sim cards are not properly recognized, but mine yes, it recognize the PIN code, the network (Numericable, a French MVNO), and correctly read the APNs. I can go on the net with data connection, but no call, no sms… (No MMS in the subscription I chose)
I tried to restore it with ODIN like I read here, it worked fine, but same problem.
I tried Custom ROM, custom Kernels, I tried ALL the radios of the I9023, no change…
When I call, no error it just hangs up the phone.
SMS, it says sms was not sent
The only one error I can read is, when I want to consult the call forwarding settings : “Network or SIM card error”
Any idea?
If the phone is a stolen one, and if the IMEI is blacklisted (3 months after?!?), is it normal that I still use the 3G connection?
The simcard work fine in my old phone
Thanks !
PS : sorry for my english, I do the best I can
No idea?
Maybe Hardware problem?
is the phone rooted?
try the *#*#3646#*#* to select your correct baseband settings.
When the problem started, the phone was rooted
After, I tried rooted and unrooted
With the 4636 I can access to the list of the baseband settings (now GSM/CDMA Auto (PRL) ), but if I change it (GSM only for exemple), it is not saved.... It doen't say anything, but if i quit the 4636 screen and return to it, it is GSM/CDMA Auto again....
Overview:
Living in the UK, brought my GS3 with. Used GSM sim over summer here with no issues, followed the guide posted everywhere.
Leave the UK, go back to US, then back to UK. I'm using the same sim as before I left (T-mo) and everything works fine for about a week.
I flash some CM-based rom on my phone and can no longer send messages, even though I went through the same setup as before to use an int'l sim.
Carrier badge says "Verizon Wireless" even though it should say EE, and I cannot send SMS messages, or make phone calls.
What I have done:
- Flashed different ROM
- Re-registered phone on network though "mobile network" settings
- Wiped everything and flashed new CM ROM
- Got NEW sim card
I am struggling to find answers. Please offer suggestions. I'm going on three weeks without a working mobile phone. Very frustrated.
Simple solution is to flash back to stock rom and be on the latest version..insert sim, select GSM mode and manually enter APN.
second option is go to the link below and download the attachment and then select GSM mode (Useful for CM)

Help request: LTE Data works,"no service" otherwise. IMEI/number, but no texts/calls.
Software: Android 5.0.1 Skydragon M8 v2.0 Sense 7
Many people have posted issues with LTE where their cellular signal was fine for "2G" functions like calls and texts.
I'm having the opposite problem. After leaving airplane mode (landing at an airport today), I have a "No Service" message in the status bar drop down (notification tray), and the Settings>Network information page shows "Not Registered." However, I do have an IMEI (see details below). However, LTE data works perfectly fine.
I've obviously tried changing the settings in Settings>Mobile Data (preferred network to Global / LTE / LTE/legacy 3GPP mode) connection type global/auto/LTE/etc), to no avail. If LTE is connected it works flawlessly, but I cannot make calls or texts, and show not registered on the network. Data roaming is set to deny, but even allowing roaming does not change the situation.
Before this happened, I HAD gone through all the XTended Settings, and even 'looked' at (but did NOT change) some advanced settings pages, including the 'hidden' HTC network info page ( *#*#4636#*#* ). Again, however, I didn't change anything -- unless by accident?!
Does this sound familiar to anyone? Anyone know if I may have inadvertently changed something and can change it back (a setting that would persist in the hardware through NANDROID restores and factory resets...). Or, any other advice to restore the cellular service connection to normal?
I've tried a full NANDROID restore (multiple times) to a working copy, and a factory reset. I have limited access to a PC since I'm traveling, so re-flashing the VZW firmware or stock recovery or lollipop/verizon RUU would be challenging.
I did spend a good 45 minutes (at a library, my only PC access!) searching the forums and web, but to no avail.
Settings information:
OPperator Name: Verizon
Signal Strength -114 (I've had better but still have the same issues)
Mobile Network type: LTE
Service state: In service
IMS service state: Not Registered
Roaming: Not Roaming
Phone Identity page:
IMEI shows up (15-digit number...how can I verify I didn't mess this up?)
Phone Number is correct
IP Address: 100.66..... (looks good)
Any help is GREATLY appreciated!

I'm having the same issue. When i try to make a call my LTE bars drop to nothing and it says call failed no network available. Any ideas or help would be nice. I was using venom rom as well. I'm currently trying to flash the newest RRU to see if that resets things. I'm wondering if it somehow my sim card. I took it from my droid turbo. I've made sure to turn off advanced calling on my VZW account though.

I had this same issue, running from ruu then rooted. I didn't noticed until I started seeing voice mail notifications but never heard the phone ring. When I tried to dial out I got the immediate call lost message. I couldn't figure what was causing it so I just did a reset. I made sure not to restore any systems data from prior to the Lollipop upgrade. At this point everything is working, the only thing I haven't installed yet is the xposed framework and sense 6 toolbox.

What kind of reset did you do? I know my issue is slightly different, but I did a full RUU-flash yesterday (latest lollipop version) and still no luck. Unfortunately I'm out of the country now and access to a computer is limited, and I don't even have a SIM card yet to check if cellular service would work anyway.
I do intend to do a flash of the stock recovery and radios once I have the time and access, but that may be a while...
Still, I'll keep checking this thread to see if anyone posts any other options

Just go into settings and to Backup & Reset , this will return your phone to a fresh install and remove all non bundled apps.
Before doing the reset try going into Settings then Call then change Preferred Network to Global, or toggle from LTE then back to Global.
Hello everybody,
I have a Verizon HTC One M8 that I'm using with MetroPCS. I'm trying to figure out why I'm having connection issues. The first ROM I tried was Skydragon. It worked very well and I could get voice, MMS, and data to work. The issue was the phone randomly loosing it's connection. Sometimes it would be after a few minutes, sometimes hours, or close to a day. Rebooting the shell would usually be enough to get it to start working, but not always. I tried loading it for T-Mobile, International, and Verizon. The only difference between the three would be the unknown SIM error in the Verizon version. Yesterday I loaded the ViperONE ROM. It seems to reliably keep my voice and MMS functioning, but data has been difficult. I can set APN settings and it will have LTE service for a bit, and then it seems to forget everything and ask me to select my provider again. I get an Install SIM message at random times, and at other times I get a new SIM installed message and it ass me to choose a provider again. I'm going to try Android Revolution next, but I wonder if there is another issue, or if anyone knows what the best ROM is to get this thing working on MetroPCS.
The basic problem is as follows:
I've got a Nexus 6p on which I dirty flashed an 8.1 update (27 Feb 2018) of ABC Rom over an earlier 8.1 version (01 Jan 2018) of ABC Rom. After that, the issues began. At boot, I'd be on 3g and if I toggled airplane mode off and then on, I could get LTE for about 10 seconds. However, it would then drop back to 3g. It's probably worth noting that my cellular provider is Verizon.
I tried everything that I could think of and/or learn via the google. Such as:
Wipe system, data, cache, and dalvic
Revert to stock
Install different/older radio images
Changed SIM (although still Verizon)
... nothing worked. I've read about people manually configuring their APNs. However, I've got a Verizon SIM, so that option does not exist... as far as I can tell.
I've identified a crappy work-around that allows me to get a stable LTE connection as follows:
Open the Phone's Testing Settings by dialing: *#*#4636#*#*
Tap "Phone Information"
Scroll down and set the "VoLTE Provisioned" toggle to the "on" position.
Then, toggle airplane mode on and off.
However, the reason I've described this as crappy is that doing this results in my phone being unable to make or receive calls. Whenever I try to make a call with VoLTE Provisioned, the call fails and reports "Server Error". Consequently, I generally just deal with the phone working in 3G. On the up side, this work-around does demonstrate that LTE is still possible... with the right configuration. Although, it would be nice if I could get both LTE and phone working vs just one or the other.
I came across this post suggesting that a possible solution is to boot the phone up with a non-Verizon SIM, power it off, and then boot it up again with the Verizon SIM. I'm not sure how this fixes the issue. However, before I go buy a $30 SIM in the hopes that it will fix my issue, I figured I'd make this post and see if anyone has any other ideas how I might correct this.
Any ideas are appreciated.

So after a few months of using 3g, I got my hands on brand new AT&T SIM card. (For what it's worth, it hadn't even been provisioned yet). I went ahead and boot the phone with this new sim card. (I also reset the new APN settings to the default, although it probably didn't do much). After powering the phone down and putting the Verizon Sim back in, I've got my LTE back and all is good.
