Example of what? A different launcher?
There are hundreds. Nova is probably the most popular though.

Tap longer on your Homescreen. Now you can see a menu to set wallpaper, widgets...
Tap and hold your homescreen which you want and move it.
Other launcher for example nova launcher.

If you are talking about the default TouchWiz homescreen you can pinch (zoom out) on one of the homescreens. This will show all your homescreens like tiles. You can do the same thing with Menu > Edit. Then you can rearrange them by holding and dragging them where you want. The first homescreen (top left) is the default.
If you mean in the browser (assuming default browser) Menu > Settings > Set home page
Yes, I'm aware of that.
What I meant was making screen no. 4 as my default homescreen.
In that case I will always start in the middle of the background.

screen 4 is not too different from screen 1. If you swipe left form screen 1, you arrive at screen 7. Only the wallpaper moves in a strange way.
doesnt solve his issue of wanting to be in the middle of a background though
3rd party launchers can do that, i suppose. Go Launcher EX has that option

yes it has - also launcher pro
This means wallpapers and especially live wallpapers are off center and it's annoying. Some launchers allow you to set the Page you want as home. But is there a way to do it in touchwiz?

[Q] Launch another screen with text

Hi all,
Anybody know how to create shortcut text in home screen , when we tap that it is launch / go to another screen. I try with minimalistic text but i don't know how to launch another screen, just launch to application. Thank you before
I am not sure that I understand what you mean by "go to another screen". Are we talking about another page of the launcher (home screen) application?

Yes, to another page. I want text as link i.e I'm create "Social" text in home screen, i need that is will refer to social page, News will refer to news page. I already install minimalistic text, but i don't know how to refer to another page. Just refer linking to apps, not to another page. Thank you very much
I'm having it on my tab. I'm using ADW. It has Launcher Actions. From there you can create icon to jump to screen 1, 2, 3, ...etc. Then you just change the icon into text style.
I don't think you can do it in general. I am looking at the source code for Android 2.1 launcher (in packages/apps/Launcher directory), and there is a method (Launcher.setScreen()) that they use to change the active screen, but it is only called internally from Workspace.java in three places: at initialization, to set the default value, on restoring the instance state, and when scrolling.
It is possible that the particular launcher application you use allows external intents to set the home screen, but I wouldn't know how to track it down without access to the source code.

I was using that before switching to ADW. I do not recall go launcher having that function. Honestly, I prefer ADW over go launcher now.
APex is great too , smooth and fast , may do what you asking for

How to show recent apps with swiping bottom->up in kitkat?

To see the list of recently called (active) apps - I have to long-press "Menu" button, which is not very comfortable. How to make it work with swiping on screen upward? Are there any configuration settings for that in kitkat?

If you are rooted you can try with xposed framework and gravity box or some other modules that allow you to change your navbar settings or your hard keys configuration.

I do have root, but xposed - or rather its modules, but it's almost the same - does not work at my phone (Alcatel Idol X+).

You can have this gesture, but not while using an app. That's because this would interfere with scrolling or possible app gestures.
I have the exact gesture set to open recent apps with Nova Launcher.
Install Nova launcher, go to Nova settings, gestures and buttons and set the swipe up gesture to open Recent Apps.
This will work when you are on one of your home screens, but not in apps, like I said.
Hope this helps.
Cheers

Hi, thanks. The matter is that I use the launcher, which I don't wish to change. I've been using it for a while and I find it the most suitable for me. It's Launcher Pro. Mostly because it allows to make a bottom bar of shortcuts scrollable, fitting there more than 4-5 icons. Also it's quite fast and does not drain battery.

Nova launcher does this as well. It's incredibly light and fast. Very customizable. Give it a shot. You might like it.
It's considered by many the best android launcher.
I have the paid version and nova launcher is always my first installed app after flashing any rom.
To activate the dock (bottom bar) pages, go to nova settings, dock, dock pages. You can also set the number of dock icons and a lot of other stuff actually
Cheers

Thanks, the launcher itself is good, but as to swiping action - it seems does not solve my problem. The swiping works if it happens on blank zone. On my Meizu firmware, when I, for instance, had some PDF opened full-screen - I could swipe from bottom of screen or side - if being in landscape orientation - and recent apps bar appeared, so I could call dictionary or encyclopaedia, whatever, and the same way back. It was fast and comfortable. Here it does not work...

Yep. Like I said, it only works from one of the home screens. Don't know what else to suggest unfortunately

In case someone is interested, more or less normal way to do it - "All in one gesture" application. It adds a small "hot spot" zone to drag from.

Create new homescreens while adding a shortcut from your drawer. Or use a better launcher!
You just drag an icon/widget to the left or right of the screen to create new pages. You can't purely create blank ones.
Google Now can also be disabled if you don't want to be on the left.

Any way to center wallpaper on my single homescreen using the pixel launcher?

When I first got the pixel, I seemed to be able to apply wallpapers that would automatically center the wallpaper on my single homescreen. I experimented with some widgets on a second screen for awhile, then I removed the second screen altogether. Now when I go to set any wallpaper, it will center it on what would be the center between two screens (so on the right edge of my screen), but I only have one. Is there any way to set this behavior? It's very annoying to have to manually center wallpapers on my single screen. If I install Nova, I can center the wallpapers no problem using Nova launcher, but I can't seem to do this anymore using the pixel launcher.

Did you remove the blank 2nd home screen the widgets were on?

Yes, mentioned that in the OP. I've removed the second screen with the widgets and icons. I only have a single homescreen right now, long pressing the homescreen only shows the one.
Sorry just saw the widgets were removed not the secondary screen

Ah I see that the wording there was confusing, I just edited it for clarity, Thanks.
You said it centers when applied with Nova right? Can you set it with Nova and then swap back to Pixel or does it automatically adjust when changing the launcher? I deleted the pixel launcher so I can't test.

I can just leave Nova installed, but not use it as the default launcher and I still get the option to use it to set the wallpaper which is a workaround. I'd like to not have to leave Nova installed if I'm not using it though.
