A PS3 controller has its own power supply. so you dont need to power it up using our McroUSB port. And hence it works!

The support has to be enabled from within the kernel. If you are using Phantom or TZ , youd see Xperia L running a controller. The TZ 4 also presents us with the Xbox controller support too! B|

The G2x meets the Hardware requirements. Is this something that is doable, or is this targeted towards OEMs? This would be awesome to have
We don't have USB host.
This would be handle. For now, you can setup a chroot.

Wonder if faux50 kernel has support for loop devices. I'm about to try this.
So I have been trying to figure this out and no luck. I have tried a hand full of kernels. Anyone know of a g2x kernel that has loop device support?
Edit I was only trying GB rom/kernels. Just found (via search...wawa) ics harsh kernel that supports loop device support, and i got root in the terminal so I'm on track. A bunch of the packages were giving me 404 errors on apt-get update and other apt-get's though, tired, so looing into it more tomorrow.

If you want any intel reply here or pm me. I used the phone without adb for the entire setup. If you don't have a bluetooth keyboard, you can download hacker keyboard from the market that will let you do the ctrl+d parts.

Does Ubuntu provide usb host mode: http://developer.android.com/guide/topics/connectivity/usb/host.html#api
I'm not sure about the usb support. I breezed over that link but still don't even know what usb support is. I have a feeling your just messing with me because I was giving you **** about constantly bringing it up instead of answering peoples questions. I know that ubuntu works on my lg-p999 with ics and harsh kernel, and you don't need cables or adb, you can do it all via terminal.

I'm not messing with you. USB Host/OTG (On The Go) enables the phone to be used as a controller of other USB devices such as USB flash drives, mice, keyboards, etc. It requires that the phone is able to supply 5V @ 500mA, if needed, to whatever it is host to or be able to support a USB hub which does. A USB Host/OTG cable is required which has an additional pin connected to the phone which are expensive and not easy to find but there is a mod for a converter: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1092493
Here's information about USB Host/OTG

Mine also doesnt work on B126, here in Saudi Arabia. When I plug in it automatically goes to 'reverse charging' and I am unable to select other options.
Mine also goes to reversed charging but shows up after few seconds.
Before it was fixed I needed a plug-in from playstore.

Usb stick plugin-Tc. There's a trial and paid version. Back In The Days I already purchased it.

Thanks for the info. One thing I don't understand is how. OTG is working for some and for someone don't while running the same firmware?
Perhaps it's got something to do with the otg device. I've never had a problem using an otg drive. In my case, I use the usb-c adapter included with the mate 9, along with an otg adapter that came with a galaxy s7.

Format should not matter. The phone will let you format it once you put it in. I'm thinking the problem might lie with your adapter?

Just tried with dual usb drive and the provided convertor and it worked. Seems the adapter is in fault. But it still works with samsung phones.
I still use the same usb devices and adapters. So I'm sure that's not the problem.
At first it didn't work for me without the plug-in and with later firmware I needed to get rid of the plug-in to get it to work.

Probably it's because the moto g is not capable of that because of the software. Have you tried this cable on another device?

Now I tested it again with a flash drive and a mouse. Apparently it can either use the USB device or charge, but not both at the same time. The external power input does provide power to the USB device though - even a 2.5" hard drive works (pulling 0.25 to 0.35 A from the power input according to my USB meter).
Just wondering if anyone could verify this for me or not.
Currently running 6.0 on Nexus Player with Root and stickmount to access 5TB external powered HDD (NTFS).
I've read somewhere that with SPMC you don't need root and stickmount to access the HDD with the latest Nexus Player updates.
Can anyone confirm or deny? I really don't want to upgrade and lose root just to try and have it fail.

Couple questions if I could.
What format nas? Do you connect via USB OTG cable?
What version nexus player are you running?
So no root or stick mount needed?
Where does your nas show up under Kodi's files for video files?

I use 2x 8tb Western digital my clouds as they use red drives and have a quad core could and 1gb of RAM and are fairly cheap.
Stock Nexus player running Oreo.
I have a tri band Asus ac5300 router and dedicate a 5ghz band just for media streaming.
Connect to drives via WiFi using SMB in Kodi.
