Why would you want to do that?
Using a custom kernel stops updates but I don't know if they would still trouble you with a notification and just not install. Why don't you try francos kernel and find out for yourself.

The official ICS is already out?!
Also you can install OTA updates and keep root just install 'OTA RootKeeper' from the android market when you have successfully rooted your device
I didn't test it yet because I modded my stock rom too much and there wasn't an update >4.0.3 yet. But the app is from supercurio and will probably work well
you can flash a stock otA ICS 4.0.3 rom after rooting

actually they seem to rerollout the same version like you can read here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1442114
What would be the risks of returning to 2.3.7?
You might risk running software with older version and not get the latest features until you update to the latest version again.

One of the things I really liked about flashing the stock jb ROM was the calendar (the one with the brown background) Specifically, I like how you can see events in the month view without having to click on anything. Anyone know if there's a way to get this calendar without flashing the stock ROM? I'm currently on the latest slimbean.
This shouldn't be posted in the development forum. But, you could try and pull it from the stock rom and side load it. Not sure of it'll work but give it a try.

Tried that, wasn't able to get it to work. Has anyone gotten the new JB calendar to work on a custom rom, like slimbean?

It WILL screw up your phone. Go search for "disable updates" to stop it.

Weird that's happening in stock. I'm not sure if the links are still working (I'm sure you can find them in here somewhere) but have you considered returning to stock using odin (no root, no custom recovery) and rerooting to see if that'll fix it?

yes i know it's strange, it doesn't happen on jb roms since those are the only ones i've tested on the phone. i wanted to get that crt enabled 2.3.6 but those links aren't working anymore, which is why i had to migrate to jb, i still want to get back to GB but the links aren't working
if anyone can help me grab the stock crt enabled 2.3.6 gb rom i would be extremely grateful
