Installing CWM depends on the device mate. The method you gave will not work on a Samsung device, right?

Yup, that's correct. Unless we know what device the OP owns, its best not to answer anything specific. :good:

With so little information, little can advise you, you can go to your cell forum and see that there will be different tutorials since according to the mobile will have to use software or other

Did it work? If so, let the dev and others know. Now you can help some people. I knew nothing when I started but hung onto certain things and passed them on. Hope you do the same.

Put it on root of sdcard then flash it in cwm recovery. Rooted!

On xda theirs no root method for 2.3.3. What you have to do is install a recovery, once you do that you can flash ROMs. And of course the ROMs give you root access.

Click this link and follow the instructions on how to install nvflash recovery. Very simple. Theirs also videos on YouTube.

There isn't only if you want to be technical. Unlockroot works, most likely your AV software is blocking it. Alternatively, you can do what the previous poster suggested, toss on CWM, and either load a custom ROM or a rooted stock one. Look in the dev section.

ERNK! WRONG!
But seriously, there is a method on here that works. Check out my signature. It has the link for a working root for the G2x. The instructions can get a little "huh?" because of how they put it all together, but if I can pull it off first try, anyone can, lol.
Just PM me if ya need any help.

I almost forgot, be sure to actually flash CWM with Nvflash. And only use CWM to flash a ROM. Stay far, far away from Rom Manager. It's not a true flash.

I was messing around with some roms, make sure you don't flash anything that says LOKI'D
It will boot loop you.
As for TWRP, just use GooManager and open it, hit menu install open recovery script and hit yes a few times.
It'll install fine.
Thanks a lot everyone. Haven't formatted the disk yet and everything seems to be working fine. However, I'll give it a whirl anyways.

[Q] Infuse 4g: Messed up beyond Fixing?

My Infuse is rooted, i recently reverted back to froyo to make my phone stock but still rooted. Phone was working fine but later that day i decided to
try and flash some mods (BIG MISTAKE). During reboot, phone started vibrating and would only vibrate with dark screen. I tried going into ODIN and flashing the stock Infuse file and seeing if it will fix it but no luck. I tried to go into recovery and ended up formatting the system file and now im stuck at Samsung screen. Need serious help

Yes, though having a Nexus device, it'd be good for you to learn fastboot/adb. Comes in handy.
Cool. Thanks guys. I guess is this correct?

As aznk3vi17 says, go the adb fastboot way. You'll be better off in the long run than using a bunch of easy tools. Sooner or later you're going to get yourself into trouble where they'll come in handy.

No you won't. The download page doesn't work.
I'll probably do it later then.
IIRC it's been like that for a week or more. Just do the ADB flash. Or use Flashify. That's just as easy as Goo.
Download the Flashify app, download the TWRP recovery img file to your phone and install with flashify from your phone.

Correct. As long as you have the img file and not zip.
You'll just go in to your downloads and tap it, install with flashify and you're done. Restart the device in fastboot mode and scroll to recovery to make sure it took.

Just don't use goo manager to flash roms. It's way too easy to find a rom that is not for your device and flash it. I'll use goo to put on the recovery and then remove it from my phone

It's possible but not likely. If anything it just won't over write the stock recovery.

Two questions, why did that get flagged as a violation of ToS? And second, if that's the SuperSU zip, why are you uploading it and sharing it through Google drive?

Updates from SD card?
Phone is an Alcatel One Touch Pop Icon (A564C) though.
Like official updates, or if anyone ever figures it out you could get root by flashing a zip using the stock recovery. But that would have to be specifically made to work with the stock recovery.

Stock recovery should have an option of flaahing update.zip.
Just rename the zip to update.zip and flash through stock one

Just curious, what are linking to on Google drive? And that's unlikely to work, try it if you want op

Idk what he's linking. Pretty sure it's a supersu.zip or something...
Will what he's suggesting have a high chance of bricking my device?
It might but I don't understand why it's flagged or why he's making mirror links to what is the easiest to find rooting file on the Internet. Will it brick? Probably not, it most likely won't even flash successfully.

Renamed zip to update.zip but it wouldn't show up in stock recovery...is it supposed to be in a specific location? Tried with it in internal memory as well as onsd card...
While in recovery ended up on a screen with android laying down on back with a triangle with exclamation point...what exactly does that mean?
