So I bought my brother a Nabi yesterday and saw online that it was able to upgrade to get playstore, so stupidly I upgraded not knowing it was unavailable for the UK so I'm stuck on the 2.1 release keys and Ice cream sandwich.
I'm wondering is it safe enough to root 2.1 with GAPPS when you remove wings?
Is it the same procedure as 1.9? I've rooted the 2 other nabis I bought without any issue, so I'm wondering is it the same procedure or is there a greater risk of bricking it?

So Kyocera says that the phone is easily upgraded to 2.0 or 2.1, but I am trying to figure out a way to do to it without rooting my phone. Because I am going to have to give this phone to some one in about two weeks and they don't want it rooted, so can any one tell me a way to upgrade it to 2.1 or at least 2.0 without rooting?
as of right now there is no way to upgrade it until kyrocera or Cricket releases an update......
there are a few people working on a sprint zio 2.1 port but there is no OFFICIAL way of upgrading at all at this time.....
ok i have an idea i didnt do the update but got the rooted update of 2.3 on my phone
yet my girlfriend has to unroot her phone due to defective phone so she came back with it updated and so is it possible i can downgrade the firmware to 2.2 as if i was going to unroot it then place root then add the rooted 2.3 update from XDA?
if so please agree.
Much appreciated !
I know this is the home of custom ROMs but I am trying to figure out how long it will take to get the official release of Icecream Sandwich for my Galaxy s2 or should I just bite the bullet and root. I bough it in Ireland and has a BUKI3 or BU or BUK CSC (that bit still confuses me). But I am in New Zealand now on Vodafine NZ my phone is unlocked but CSC is obviously still set to Ireland.
Question 1:
- Will my CSC have to be the same as that of my carrier to get firmware updates? Or can I remove my SIM and do it over Wifi or Kies?
Question 2:
- Has Vodafone NZ released Ice cream sandwich and if not: any idea when?
Question 3:
- I have tried to get updates via Kies but it says that the feature in unavailable. Is this because of a carrier vs. CSC clash?
I know I'm covering a wide base here but I want to try to gauge what is required to get my hands on Ice cream sandwich!! I know I will probably eventually end up rooting but I'd prefer not to just yet as it's so new
Ok so I realise the Official ROM won't even be released by Samsung until the 1st Quarter of 2012, I hear the 16th Feb...
Im gonna wait until the official release is out for my phone as I do want to try out some of the new features. I'm sure you could root it and find a pre release version to try but id wait for the official release since it would probably be tailored for your phone. Sorry I couldn't answer your questions about specifics.
hi im thinking of rooting my samsung galaxy s2 to ice cream sandwhich 4.0.3 and just wondering what the benifits of rooting the phone will have
the last question is i heard when u root it voids warranty , but if i want to get it back to original OS back to factory default would anybody ever know it had been rooted ? if you could get back to me asap that would be great !!
cheers in advance
I live in Australia, and earlier in the year I purchased an unlocked i9203 Nexus S through eBay with stock Ice Cream Sandwich. After trying and trying to get the recently released Jelly Bean OTA update using the Google Framework trick and countless other suggestions (removing the sim, airplane mode, etc.), there is still no update showing up. Is this because of my carrier (Telstra)? Or is there something I'm doing wrong? Help is greatly appreciated, thanks.
(sorry, i'm quite a noob, and don't know much)
