Hello,
I really need help and/or suggestions. Here's the situation. I have a Samsung Galaxy S Blaze sgh-t769 that at one time Kies suggested to upgrade firmware. So, it upgraded to ice cream sandwich. Few months after, i wanted to root my device. so i downloaded odin and the suggested other downloads and followed instruction. Long story short, it bricked my phone. So i downloaded the needed rom SGH-T769-UVLB7-k0nane and with Odin again, and brought things back to supposedly factory setting. Except, that it rom now is gingerbread. Here's the exact reading from device setting and about phone:
Android version: 2.3.6
Baseband version: T769UVMB1
Kernel vernsion: 2.6.35.11
Build #: GINGERBREAD.UVLB7
When I connect to Keis now it states"it's not supported by Kies". Device Software update stated, it's up to date.
I really would like to get ICS back into my device. How can i do that?

What are you trying to do, stay on ics stock or go up to custom firmware?
All you got to do is install a rom through recovery.

Just flash the official ICS with Odin. Then re-root when your done.
P.S if you phone hangs at the att boot animation after flashing the official ICS with Odin just boot into stock recovery and wipe data and cache:thumbup:

You could flash CMW via odin and then flash the official ICS in mohan's post. You phone should still be rooted after this.

Very first post at the top of this page, says "How to...Unroot" in the subject line. The stickies are your friends.
I used the steps described by cbetso 14 May 2012 on HOW TO ROOT YOUR TAB (message #33) in the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 section of xda developers Forum. It is the unlockr method. It worked great. Thank you to everyone there who shared so much!
It gave me the message: "You have successfully rooted your tablet as well as installed CWM recovery on it."
The 4.0.4 update was offered by Samsung several months ago, and Jelly Bean may be offered in the future. My questions are simple:
In the rooting process, did I overwrite the official ICS 4.0.3 Samsung ROM?
May I update to 4.0.4 from the currently rooted state?
Must I remove CWM before updating?
And/or must I do something else to prepare the Tab in advance of applying the updates?
If so, please point me to a location on the forum where the steps are listed.
Sorry for the Beginner questions. Thank you in advance for any help.

The 4.0.4 update was offered by Samsung several months ago, and Jelly Bean may be offered in the future. My questions are simple:
In the rooting process, did I overwrite the official ICS 4.0.3 Samsung ROM? No, all you did was provide a modified script. Although, I may be stood corrected, as I did not find your link to your rooted method.
May I update to 4.0.4 from the currently rooted state? If you are rooted, then no you need to be Stock. Unless some one has provided an Updated.zip, then that can be applied over your root method.
Must I remove CWM before updating? No, if you have returned to Stock. The Stock Recovery will be applied over the Custom Recovery. Unless again, someone has provided the proper Updated.zip that can be applied through a Custom Recovery.
And/or must I do something else to prepare the Tab in advance of applying the updates? If you return to Stock, No. If someone has provided an Update.zip to flash from a Custom Recovery (i.e, CWM), then No...

Hello bettyhills, I am fairly new to this particular device, and the only thing I have found here is a download in regards to a 4.0.4 update, from the 4.0.3 Stock version, is a download that consisted of a bunch of partition files, that needed to be installed via Heimdall. In my hesitation primarily, because it neglected to provide the correct instructions. I opted to wait for the Jelly Bean updated, which has yet to have been correctly distributed for the GT2-p3113 device, although there is a GT2-p3110 version out there... To reiterate, in my hesitation I told myself I would wait for the Jelly Bean update before flashing a Stock Rom to rightfully except an Official Samsung Distribution, by returning to Stock and re-rooting...
Although, you may want to wait for a more like-able suggestion..., from someone else!!!
Hey everyone
I've only ever hacked my phones one way, from stock to custom. Today the 4.1.2 official firmware came out for the Bell S2 i9100, and I'd like to give it a go. I'm expecting that I won't get an OTA update since I'm modded, and there's nowhere under the "about phone" section for me to tell it to look for an update.
What is the easiest way to get back to stock? Do I need to download the new 4.1.2 and flash via Odin? Is there a way to tell my phone to go back to stock, and then do the update?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
I have this device 1 year and my old kernel version is somehow anoying now.... I am board of it and want to upgrade. I had follow some instructions and i had unlock my device so i can use it to Greece where i live. Can you please help me and link me a topic where i can start to read what to do?

It would help to put up what kind of Android version you're on. Just simply putting your kernel version doesn't help at all.

Dude, you ARE on Jelly Bean. Android 4.1.x - 4.3.x is all Jelly Bean.
As for changing the kernel version, there isn't much of a choice for Android 4.1.2. You'd have to root it and use a different Android version if you really want a different kernel version (doesn't matter honestly).
Read about rooting and unlocking boot loader , flashing a Rom, and updating your bootloader (modem). I like 4.1.2 Roms, Obsessed Rom, TKRom, Clean 7 Rom, and Synergy. Each have themes that are great. Read up on rooting, unlocking boot loader, flashing Rom and changing basebands BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING ON YOUR DEVICE. Each carrier and model is not the same so make sure you only follow directions for your specific device model and carrier, if not you will most likely have a paperweight. Good Luck.
Lean kernel , KT747, and a few others have 4.1.2 kernels available.

you dont have to use kies at all for that...just go to samfirmware and download the ics 4.0.4 UVMB1(thats the latest version and not the UVLH5) and flash it using odin in download mode..
here is the page link with instructions and odin link :-
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=12008
p.s. -make sure the re-partition is not checked else you will end up bricking your phone..cheers!!

hahaha no he means if you are on any stock rom and not just ginger bread...all the stock roms have wifi calling which has been coded with framework with unknown encryption by samsung which cant be decoded without a lead...thats why you dont have the wifi calling on any custom rom...and you are not able to update by kies because your device has been rooted and has custom binary on it...so u can either use this ics and get to latest stock rom flashing with odin or you can first flash the baseband for the GB rom you are on and then use triangle away app and then update it over kies which is more hectic and another thing is once you download this you can just flash it whenever u feel like it and dont have to think twice...the files will be always there on pc and its easy as anything
