[Q] Google Sound Search disabled everytime I restart the phone... - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So... I really the Google Sound Search widget and I love the service a lot more than Shazam and SoundHound.
But everytime I restart the phone, the app gets disabled and I have to go to the Google Play store and activate it manually. Thing is, the app works perfectly and the Music store is available in my country. Heck, when it recognizes a song, I can even buy the song.
So... what's the problem? How do I install it permanently?

I have the same problem. Anyone gets answer to this?

There's one solution so far
Download and install Modaco Toolkit for xposed framwork. Of course you u'll need root.. And so far no donuts for Lollipop.

I have a similar problem...the widget crashes once then is broken after that. Can't get it to work at all.

[Q] anyway to get the soundhound that came with my rogers rom on aosp?

The soundhound that came with the sock sense is came with sound hound that allowed live lyrics when listening to a song
I think that was awesome
However if I try to take the apk from a sense ROM to aosp it does not have that feature.
Anyway to get that back?
Does anyone even know what I'm saying lol?
EDIT: Ok, sorry for typing on my phone!
The SOundhound version that comes with stock HTC sense (at least it did for Rogers) had an option called live lyrics. Once you detect what song is playing, it will tell you the lyrics that the singer is currently singing as well - just like karaoke
I tried downloading soundhound from the playstore and it does not have this feature. I tried copying it from the HTC sense roms that we have here and it does not have this featue.
Im going to try to restore my very first nandroid backup and see if i can extract it from that, but otherwise i cant seem to figure out how to get it!
You could download it from Play Store. Just google for 'soundhound play store'
Can't post the link due to forum restriction.

This is what i did but the play store version doesn't have the live lyrics
If it failed to install, then it is dependent on the framework.. the only practical solution is to go back to sense. It'd take way too much effort to get it working

3rd party app maps not showing up.

Huawei Mediapad stock ICS 4.0.3
Only real mod done Xposed Framework but no modules are active.
Any 3rd party app I try that uses the Google maps for it's map function won't show any maps in it.
Yet Google maps itself does. the Google is at version 6.6.
I know there's a newer version but when I update to that, when I try to open Google maps it shows a screen
that has a button "accept & continue". When I click it it shows a notification saying it can't connect to network yet everything else CAN connect to the network.
I don't really care whether the google maps works or not but I need it to work for where I do use it in the 3rd party apps.
Has anyone heard of this problem? Or has any kind of idea of what to do?

Just use "OSM" you ca download it using the F-Froid store. In my opinion google the maps ap is really crappy. OSM provides online + offline maps so you wont need a internet connection after downlaoding the maps you needs.
The app I use the most that uses maps is Waze and that has it's own map system but I do like to use other apps that use the google map service.
How would that F-Droid help? It looks like it uses some other kind of system. The other apps I use look like they call the google service.

OSM uses free "open source maps" that means O.S.M.
I can't seem to find this OSM or openstreetmap (which I see other apps referring to) on there anywhere to even try it.
Have you downloaded F-Droid app and installed it on your phone?
Gesendet von meinem One S mit Tapatalk
Oh, ok. So it works like the Xposed Framework.
Some apps are only available through this F-Droid interface itself then, correct?

You have to try it as I use another phone, but i install it always in that way no matter which phone.
I think I'll save that for a last resort
I haven't been having much luck getting things back to the way they were after I try something new.
If I can't find ANY other way to fix google's map service then I might try that.
Thanks.
Anyone else?

That means u use google's maps by choice? :crying:
I'm only using the google maps in the apps that call on google's service.
Waze it what I use most and it has it's own map system.
I want to save it as a last resort because I'm afraid of breaking anything else and not being able to get back.
Well I uninstalled the Xposed Framework and tested to see if that was what was doing it but it isn't.
So I put it back in.
Comeon! Someone has to have an idea on what could be causing it and how I can make the Google maps work right in other apps again.

Ok LS.xD, I did a little more looking at FDroid and from what I've seen it looks like it's kind of a separate market for apps.
If I were to install it would I still be able to use Play store?
And if I install it and find tha open street maps will that replace the ggogle map api service for 3rd party apps?
If it does and I eventually find a fix for the google api and decide I'd rather go back to that will uninstalling it return control back to Google?
I tried installing the gapps package for ics hoping that would overwrite whatever the problem is to no avail.
I've had over 150 views on this and no-one can give me any ideas?
What would you try if it were your device?

Unfortunately, Google Play Services Has Stopped. How to FIX.

please help to get rid from this error. I have tried many solutions like clear catch data, reinstalled, updated from play store but nothing to be work. I am using cm 10.2 by jenkins.:crying:

I am also getting this error on ICS icysnap V2.0. I think this error is occurring due to some bug or incompatibility of latest google play service apk with our device. I have submitted the error report to google. I hope they will fix this soon. For the time being i have uninstalled the google play service. By going to Security > Device Administrator then uncheck the google admin. After this you can uninstall the application in usual way.
Previous version of google play services working fine.

I have also experienced this. Mostly happened while Gmail is syncing. Happened on cm-9, cm-10.1.6, and affected apps on cm-7.But Play Services works perfect on official stock gingerbread. So I think it's a combination of causes. Authentication of apps and services running on unofficial roms, and APIs that are built for armv7 devices. But I'm only guessing. Haven't had time to study my logcats yet. May 14 update seems to be a little better. But it's still not fixed.
Edit: May 16 update, still not fixed. Have read and verified that it works better on WiFi. On WiFi, Gmail, after syncing (and caching that sync) will not cause Play Services to close. But on mobile network, it does.
May 19 update to Google Play Services (version 4.4.52):
I think it's fixed
Updated several apps and synced Gmail. Did not get annoying message. Running cm-9.2.0 (hephappy).

Use a file manager and go to / system/app, and look to see if gmscore is still there. Long press on it to select and view properties. Properties should include permissions, which should be set to:
User: rw-
Groups: r--
Others: r--
The binary representation of this is 644
If gmscore is not there, then you may have it in your backups from TiBU.

Managed to fix it but I had to reinstall all the apps I had removed one by one as TB would not do a batch.
Kept throwing an error.
I really need to know what I can and cant remove as I rooted this phone to get rid of some of the apps I dont use they just clutter the whole system
Same bug after reinstallation of the firmware. I think there are some issues on Google's side.
FIXED!!! Finally Found This Fix!
I was unable to listen to my music for 48 hours, which is hell to me as I'm ALWAYS listening to music. This also looks horrible on Google/Android as I just left iOS (which honestly is a better OS than Android, but Android has come a long way so I'm optimistic about its future...and I also love my Moto X and prefer Android to iOS overall (minus these little annoying issues)). Anyway, finally fixed it by Uninstalling the update made on the Google Play Music app.
Go to Settings - Apps - Google Play Music - and select Uninstall Updates. Hope this helps.

This seems to have fixed the issue for me. Uninstalled Play Music, then reinstalled, and has been working fine since. Good thing too, as it was popping up twice in quick succession every 30 seconds almost. Very frustrating!
Anyway, thanks
EDIT: Seems I spoke too soon
im still umable to do it
I also have this problem, using most recent gapps.
Same problem
I've been having the same problem up until a couple of days ago Play Services worked fine but when ever i open the Google Keyboard the message pops up "Unfortunately Google Play Services has stopped working" and idea what the problem might be. My version is 7.0.97 (1791429-034)
Thanks for the help.

That one is really old, may cause other, but thankfully quieter problems. Would like to downgrade to a 6.6 version if I can find the link, however...

Back to version 7.* and the problem recurs. Need to defeat its auto upgrade, but this is not a normally-listed app on Play. Maybe after the audo-upgrade happens, one can get to its setting from "my-apps" pane, recently upgraded.

music stopped working after update

new to this forum and desperate need some help. TIA.
I did an update when got prompt this week. Since then, i no long able to play music through the music app or any app. I still can see the songs. When I click, there is a blink and then nothing happened. rebooted multiply times, downloaded few new music apps and all the same.
running MHA-L29 8.0.0.367(C567)
At this point if nothing else fixed it (clearing OS cache, clearing app cache) I would suggest a factory reset.

I had a bug, not music, but here's one that fixed mine, and a few other people's glitches.
Settings>Apps & notifications>Apps>Google Play Services
STOP the app.
Storage, clear cache.
Then go back to the app, scroll to the bottom where it says store, click that, and uninstall the play app, or
just go to the play store under your account for this phone and uninstall the play app. This puts it back to
the stock app (mine went from version 12.xx to 11.xx), reboot the phone and see if that fixes it.
If not, just update the play app on the play store.
That fixed the issue I was having with SEVERE lag on opening, using and closing apps.

About the new Huawei music...

So Huawei has pushed a new updated to it's build in music player (get it through appgallery)
It now brings a spotify-like experience but more trash, most of the songs are not even great.
However, it brings the new best addition that we all were waiting for : Custom skins
What can we do with it? You can turn the music app into a dark-mode like experience, something that i think many people were waiting for.
Now here comes the biggest deal breaker, at least for me:
If you turn off online services, everytime you touch the music player's notification bar to go in the app, you will be greated with the rollout for the online services. Every.single.darn.time.you.go.in.the.app.through.the.notification.bar.
There is no fix unfortunately and, if you want to update, do it if you care about making the app dark.
If you already used the app and know a fix for this, please comment here
I found a fix, though i am not sure if it is the perfect permanent fix
1.Turn off online services.
2.Play a song
3.Go in the app through the notification bar
4.The policy will show up. Agree it.
5.Close the app, then play a music of choice through the widget.
6.Do step 3 again
7.When it shows that "your current region is (name of the region you are)" immediately force close the app.
8.Clear it's cache
9.Deny all mobile data, background data and roaming data.
10.Play a song and repeat step 3
If it doesn't show the same popup with the policy thing or the region thing, congrats!
