Is there any way I can remove google search from my home screen ? PS really don't want to use any launchers

I am not sure, but if you un-install Google Search I would assume this would remove it. Back-up first because I have no idea what it could break.
KK Launcher is the standard launcher but allows you to tweak it in numerous ways as opposed to all the rest that inflict various nasty animations and the like on you. I wanted the stock one but just remove the dock and this has given me exactly that.
Try it and see, you can always remove it if you're not convinced, just be sure you go for the one named exactly that as there are many similar named ones.

I think the only way to do this is to install a different launcher. Search is now integrated into the stock launcher, if you uninstall you'll completely lose your launcher

I'm also frustated of this forum except some serious developers with great work nobody wants to help out but there are a hell lot of freaks out here who just copy pasting from other forums and modifying other people's work.
Thanks xda for giving me so much knowledge about my android smartphones which I gathered by googling hours and hours when no one answered here.

long story short: there is no hidden "documented" way to hide that on the stock GEL launcher - you have to live with it.
longer story short: you can use some other launcher that lest you get rid of that - there are ton of options both free and paid (Apex, Nova, Action, lots of GEL clones / enablers, etc.)

It's attitudes like this that make people much less inclined to "help". This is the developer's forum, not the hand-holding Android 101 forum. That being said, there is a ton of help in this forum and most others. It's a lot of helping those that help themselves, but no one owes you any answers. That being said, there are some of us who actually like to take a hands-on approach to helping like this guy: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2634392
But to answer the original idea, yes, you can remove it, but you have to disable Google Search in your Application Manager > All and reboot. That or a custom launcher, which is the preferred way to keep all functionality (while arguably, adding to it as well).

You seem pretty mad bro... Who hurt you? In any event, I went through your posts, and you have zero reason to be whining. You received a response to every single Austin you asked, with the sole exception being a thread you started, in which you essentially called "every user" on xda an entitled, arrogant idiot. Did you really expect any help after posting that BS? Get a grip man - this is a development site, not a nursery school.

Oh no... come on guys give him a break lol u are too funny
....
break?
lol. your funny
it seems like the last couple of days there is a competition going for most ridiculously redundant thread posting in kaiser rom dev forum... im amazed at all the new users just asking the most simplest question that require minimal too little searching to find just what they are looking for
its not that hard. all you have to do is look in the wiki and all the answers are there. you have to be a pure idiot not to see it. and search alright i have to admit its a hit or miss. but when it comes down to the wiki. you find everything
also use google.
search your topic useing
for ex. HTC HOME + xda
you will find what your looking for!
i only post when i cant find a single answer.
so why dont people do the same?
bleh no one should get free rides around these parts.
True mbudden but ive had a change of heart and we should all be a little more compationate here on xda until they implement a new member system requiring people to take tutorials and pass a test before being allowed membership... cuz u r right its not rocket science

I may be new to these forums, but I am not new to forums in general. I know how **** works. Obviously the SEARCH button in the corner is made to help people out; however if someone posts a question, do you think it is necessary for 10 people to flame him?
Have you EVER in your life purchased a product and sat there and read every single page in the manual?
Yeah many people ask ask for help so you give them a link to a sticky. Is that so hard?

Alright, good that you know how things work.
However if you posted a question I'd think you'd get flamed too.
He's not the only one. You have to remeber that.
And honestly, I have bought a product and read the manual if it wasnt just common sence. But then again when it comes down to a product thats 500$ why would you want to tinker with it? If you break it using someone elses intructions dont bother doing it then. Don't ***** and complain you didnt read etc.etc. Thats what half of these ' I bricked my tilt ' threads are. Its nonsence!
Oh also, there are many stickies and theres the wiki. So what are you trying to get at? Lots of noobs come here with many diff questions. So how are you asposed to sticky 1039821093 posts that you could just search around for the answer. wow lazy people.
I hope a admin closes this thread. they need to.
princeison said:
P.S. I was a admin also. I guess some people have more patience then others. But if people post something that is "stupid", and you have nothing productive to say, then why bother saying anything at all? Does it affect your life in any sort of way at all? When you buy a new car do you read through the 200+ pages? I honestly don't. However different people work different ways.

If you are not a complete idiot you can read the forum and search any questions you have.... i did not read a single page of the manual that came with my phone, i just read the forum. Its actually very annoying seen a new thread almost everyday on the same subject and you may say, "how does it affect you" but the point is i have to see a stupid question everyday polluting the forum. not only the ROM Dev forum but also the software and especially the general. why create an entirely new thread. Thats why members, especially older members get so pissed.

If you were a admin on a forum before I would think that you would know why people would be getting upset and everything. But obviously you have a low post count so no one knows anything about you, and you could just be making things up. But I'm not saying that. But alright, what I may be doing by flaming someone may not be productive but it does help for the OP to go and search and maybe he learns a lesson, he may not like it or not. So what. And really it does affect everything because when I go to search I find stupid senseless posts up in my search and I find it retarded that I have to search threw them to find that those people were flamed. And who said anything of this nature compared to a car? That's personal preference of what someone days. And people do work in many ways, like I like working in a clean environment that is fluttered with trash like the useless threads I have to swim threw to find my knowledge. I've been here since the Wizard days, I've learned about the search and the wiki and its always been a great help. Its now other peoples turns to do the same.
Well Well Well
I don't see why this thread needs to continue.

First, it is not a misleading title. The thread was for people with no experience sifting through all the jargon to be able to have a place to look for updates for their Evo; a "Glint of Hope" so to speak. Wasn't XDA originally designed to help people like that? Now it seems as though it's just a bunch of pricks like you who like to tear down anyone who tries to provide help or asks an inexperienced question. Second, there is no "us". It is you, skatrwannabe3, to whom I am referring to as a ****. If you don't like my thread, then get off of it. End of story. I reported the thread anyway so it will hopefully be deleted soon and free up space on your precious forum. This is my last post on this thread. It was a waste of my time and I now know how XDA works thanks to it. Don't ask questions. Don't post information. People need to cool it, I know you're frustrated that you don't have root, but please stop taking it out on each other. This forum is worse than working for AT&T customer service!
The main problem is that your post is old news. It also doesn't belong in development because you aren't developing anything. Furthermore the subject of your post has been discussed numerous times since the tool was released. Therefore I see no point in your post, so now we are talking about ponies.

I could not care less about the comments. It's that you altered my thread which wasn't meant for senior members to even use as a reference. I have indeed seen it posted for other devices but not under Evo. I figured it would be news to some. I am sorry for making a noob post. I am trying to get the thread deleted so it won't waste space anymore. Now get the hell over it and let's move on. Proceed with your ponies lol.
Now that's a better reply.
We (most) are just having fun with you for posting it here. The ponies was nothing compared to what you could have seen from others. Don't take the lulz personally, it happens to the best of us. Just remember, a bit of common sense on XDA saves one from ponies (and/or worse).
Now that the dust has settled, you can PM a forum mod if you still want the thread deleted. Pick one: toastcfh, rolfd, or josefcrist. If you want actual discussion, you might repost this over in General or Q&A and hope for the best.
P.S. "jordanetodd" your AT&T comment was funny.
P.P.S. edited some of my comments, even though the originals are still quoted by others

There’s some confusion out there in the Android world. Google Now is not Android’s “Siri killer”, that’s Voice Search (which you can get to and use from within Google Now). Google Now is much, much more than an application that listens to queries and spits out answers. I’m not even sure we can call Google Now a virtual assistant either. Google Now is about automating your life and in return, making your life easier. Google Now does that by providing a vast amount of information, pertinent to you, at your fingertips. There’s just one catch though. Those of your that often go full tin foil hat mode really won’t be able to fully enjoy Google Now to its’ full potential. So take off your head gear and let’s get started.
[Google Now] tells you today’s weather before you start your day, how much traffic to expect before you leave for work, when the next train will arrive as you’re standing on the platform, or your favorite team’s score while they’re playing. And the best part? All of this happens automatically. Cards appear throughout the day at the moment you need them.

our mod Red5 is handling not only SGR forum but other forum also and because of it he cant look after our forum whole day and clean mess from here, we already have alot mess in our forum and making such threads is increasing that mess. its our responsibility to take care of our forum and help it to stay neat, clean so that we can easily find what we need.
and FYI XDA havent made this forum as the other S2, OneX, S3 forums are made but after making a lot of requests XDA gave this forum to us, so respect what we had and help it to improve not to make it messy
we can request the MOD to move this thread @kataria.vikesh, you knw better than me...

Google now is same in use of JB, its is fancy bt few are used to be in different handsets & now working fine in GALAXY R. we are following what we are seeing in each threads from your elder seniors. so its better not to make this issue hot to make me understand the same. As you can see in my previous post (in the beginning) I was not blaming anybody for anything. You all have right to let me or even anybody knows that this is what, we should do. .??:highfive::laugh:
This matter is already in the eyes of MODs & we should not behave like kids man.. be Happy dear & let the MOD feel like we can manage things as per our own. they have many things to work on..so dont take it otherwise.
Since the MOD has done his work.... Can we please move to the discussion in the OP..... i mean does anyone have any info as to the availibiliy of google now for other devices

This is the discussion /OT thread for JT Inverted Productions JB 4.2 GAPPS. This was created because too much discussion/off-topic posts have been happening in the main thread and the posts over there should be kept as relevant to the app as much as possible.
Main thread for the app and downloads
[APPS]JusTunBean By: JT Inverted Productions JB4.2 aroma 4.1
Support thread
[SUPPORT THREAD] JT Inverted Productions JB 4.2 Gapps+
If you want to ask questions related to a problem with the app, use the support thread above.
This thread is purely for discussion because I noticed a lot of you were having discussions in the main thread and posting off-topic comments. If you want to discuss anything to do with the app then use this thread.
If people carry on discussing things and making off-topic posts in the main thread, I'll start reporting you for purposely trying to derail a thread when you're fully aware you shouldn't be posting there.
Reserved for future awesomeness...
Kinda silly the whole password thing. I think it'll do you more harm than good... But you know, whatever works for you. Just my own 2 cents. Took me all of 15 seconds to find the password without reading the entire OP. (Which I don't usually do unless I have support questions anyway).

You're a senior member you don't need to read the original post if you have an idea of what you're doing I don't think you realize that thousands I mean thousands of Noobs that come in there say something is not working but didn't bother to read the original post
I hope that touching on this subject doesn't bring sanctions my way, considering I'm a noob to these forums, but I'll ask anyway. With the original thread being locked due to general dickishness--which frankly I don't get, even as a new member I don't have major issues flashing, and it took me minutes to find the first password. I guess people are just lazy--is the entire project on hiatus or will we just see a new thread soon? I love the work you do and appreciate all your effort, so I'd hate to see it ruined just because a few people are acting silly.

It's still up on AndroidSPIN. If you'd prefer to remain on XDA, I'll keep the Support thread open and updated as long as people keep calm.
AAs a noob myself, i understand the whole pw deal. But what i dont understand is why it is considered someone elses responsibility if someone doesnt follow the instructions and bricks the phone.
We have all made it to this point by rooting and installing custom roms. I have never seen it taken to this level in any of the development threads. All this for flashing gapps, seems a little over the top imo.
All i have to add is thank you for all the work, and if someone bricks their phone by not following directions, so be it. You did your job

Justin, I was not complaining about the password at all, just complaining about all the complaining about it. If someone bricks because they did not read your instructions, it's their fault.

I opened contacts on my d2vzw running the 4.1.1 JT gapps... It forced closed. SO, I went on to my computer, opened the 3.2.6a download I last used and pulled the contacts.apk from it. I put it on my ext-sd, uninstalled contacts.apk from system/apps, and installed the contacts from the last working release I used. Then, I fixed permissions in CWM, rebooted, and boom. Success.
I did all of this without googling, searching these threads, or messaging anyone... and guess what... IT FELT GOOD.
More people should take my lead, figure stuff out for themselves before asking the same questions over and over, and in the end: FEEL GOOD.
We'll end android related depression and solve our problems at the same time. JOIN THE MOVEMENT. haha

Ya everybody that matters is on Android spin again and I guess permanently they just couldn't understand the concept of ignoring ignorant people... I joined earlier this month cuz I knew the way things were going it'd end up there... I guess none of these guys have kids... lol... That's the first skill u learn as a parent is blocking out stupid stuff

So, this isn't a huge gripe per se about not being able to post in the development section for lack of posts, but I guess more of a "I don't understand why". (And I know basically nobody gives a rats ass about what I think - lol)
I've been rooting/flashing/customizing my phone since my first DroidX about 3 years ago (maybe more!). I have flashed many, many different ROMS, bricked my device more times than I care to count, and have always, always found a way to get it back to working order. How have I done that you ask? Mainly by searching the threads for the same issue I am experiencing at that moment. The reason I don't post a lot is because I don't have to. The answers are 99.9% of the time right under my nose. The reason I would like to post? I feel I can give my input of bugs/issues etc that I find based off the ROM/Theme/Mod I installed.
I never do any customization's to a ROM until I let it run for a few days, and even then try to make sure I've run all apps, configured all settings, and tracked any bugs. In doing so, once I do flash say, a theme or a mod, I know what worked, and what didn't and can easier track down where my underlying issue is.
I'm in no WAY a developer, but for someone who has used basically every ROM out there on multiple devices feel I know when there is a bug, and no when it's my own stupidity.
I know I can just go out there and fire off ten posts and be able to post in there but to me, that's cheating. Who wants to read my drivel anyway?
Anyway, thanks for reading if you did... and if you didn't...
Three more to go.

Sorry - Subject should have read "Without enough posts"... guess this is why I'm locked down -
I realize this every time I want to post in the dev section...just keep posting son.
Also add not being able to post more than one post in five mins.

The 10 post requirement is to protect our developers from spammers, spambots and users just joining without knowing the rules. 10 posts is too small in most users opinion as it is not enough to get the feel as to what should be posted in a development thread or section.
Hope this helps
Thanks

That also clears up after 30 or 50 posts...I forget which...again...more spam protection.
I'm working on my 10 posts right now I understand the reason for wanting to protect the developers. I myself am a developer, not of Android ROMs, and appreciate any filtering that can be done to shield the developers from uneducated questions and complaints. I'm just trying to get to 10 quickly so I can post in the development thread for the offical cm10.1 nightly. invisiblek posted an unoffical rom to test a fix for the random reboots and I believe it has fixed the issue for me. Just got to get to 10 so I can let him know :fingers-crossed:
I've been using this forum for ever, and I feel the 10 post count rule is ignorant. All it does is promote new people to post stupid crap everywhere to get their 10 posts so they can post something ignorant elsewhere. It doesn't help anything.
The people who post the most, are often the ones who know the least, and to reward that behavior is absolute stupidity.
You are not going to stop spam, or people from posting stupid stuff. The more you try, the harder they work to get around it.
You really want to help stop the stupidity start moving the community in the opposite direction. For the last 2 years the entire android community has been turning into everything they hate in the iOS community. Real development has basically died, and every person with a computer is now an android developer. I can go to any phone and find a ton of the same crap over and over and over. When their is a bug or a problem people just ignore it because no one knows how to fix it, and they typically never get fixed.
Everyone has become elitist and self righteous and it really shows. Damn shame really.

The only way you'll go back is by only allowing actual developers to post. However xda isn't exactly running a charity here. The more users, the better for them
