Hi guys,
I am having a problem with my phone, i've researched everywhere but it seems that no one is experiencing the issue as me, or at least I couldnt find anybody.
The thing is that one day after syncing my phone, when I unmounted the sd card(in the correct way) and I inserted it in the phone, the phone started to freeze everytime I locked it, once I locked the phone it became unresponsie, everytime. I can turn on the display but it doesnt respond to touch, the digital buttons either. However, if I get a notification it does show up in the display, so the phone its not dead.
This behavior happens with every card I have, ive tried with 3 different cards and everytime I sync them to my mac my phone responds this way.
I did a factory reset, I wiped everything and installed different roms but the issue remains. I also formatted the cards several times.
For the phone to work correctly it has to be card-free or with a sd card that has never synced with my computer.
I uploaded a video to make the problem more understandable, Im really desperate so any help will be greatly appreciated,
thank you!!
Edit; Sorry, I dont know why the youtube thumbnail doesnt show up here,

If the issue only happen AFTER you sync it to your PC that would make me think to look at what files you are syncing and how you are doing it. What are you loading on to your sd card? What class is your SD card as I have seen cards with a class less then 4 can cause issues.
Yes I thought of that, im just syncing music, and its the exact playlist i've been syncing before with this phone. I did a virus scan and nothing. Maybe a file suddenly became corrupted, but there is no warning about that..
I've tried with class 6, class 4 and class 2, all with the same problems..
I forgot to clarify that yesterday I synced the same files and for a while everything worked perfectly, I was able to play my music, etc. But all of a sudden I opened the camera app and the phone freezed, It did this everytime until I removed the card...
I appreciate your help, thanks

Sounds like maybe the virus scan is not detecting it. Are you syncing it while the card is in the phone? I would try that with blocks of music until the problem pops up and then you can slim it down from there
zelendel, thanks for your help, I did try those things and the problem remains.
However after trying different things I discovered that the files are not the problem because I synced all my music wirelessly and everything worked perfectly. Until I connected my phone to my mac without syncing and unmounted the sd-card.
My guess is that there is a problem with the mount-unmount mechanism, it may be a hardware issue I dont know. Its weird, because once I unmount, the sd-card prepares and the phone identifies it, but after that I cant open any music application, camera, etc and once I lock and try to unlock the phone, it freezes as I stated before.. Im lost
What do you think? any ideas?
thanks again!
Same Thing here in Xperia mini St15i Please Helpppppp?!
bump. come on, no one? i cant run aosp roms because of this.

Sorry, something that is confusing....if you are unmounting your sdcard then that is why that you cannot open files..it is unmounted. What happens when u pull your sdcard out? unmount it from settings>storage and see how the phone behaves....if works smoothly then it might be a slot issue....
If your phone rooted?
Its stock rom? Hace u ever do something to ir? Probably its hardware problem.

Hello fellas
Same problem experienced here on two different Huwawei android phones -> sonic and ideos..gingerbread and froyo respectively.
Everytime the phones do sdcard I/O opps, all UI elements become unresponsive but bg tasks run coz they ring during incoming calls and texts.
The sdcard is the same...a 4gb kingston.
I know the sdcard works well because i've tested it more than once using H2testw 1.4 ....no flaws reported at all!
The card also works flawlessly on my nokia E63.
Does anyone have a fix for this?
sd card error ... guess so.
Hey there am too experiencing the same prob . When i insert the sd card class 2 the phone freezes , and becomes unresponsive until i remove the card ... Since dis post is about 2 yr old so guess there might b some solution to dis prob ... .... thankzz in advance
Lately i have been playing with ics roms including ics RUU installs and with all of them i have been having problems relating to reading from the sd card (gallery issues, stored music issues etc.) none of which where present before installing ics.
Today, after returning to an earliar RUU to revolutionary unlock the hboot and root, i formatted my sd with sd formatter and wiped and formatted everything on my phone. Then i ran the 2.08... RUU and set up my phone from scratch like i always do. I put my usual music, ringtones etc on my sd card and reinstalled all of my apps.
After doing my usual clean install, the first thing i noticed was that the personalised ringtones that i set began changing randomly and i also noticed that the tunes displayed on my music widget were changing randomly.
It appears that my sd card is misbehaving but i wondered if anybody else had this issue after returning to another firmware after using ics?
If you can put the SD into a PC and it still reads, then it's not damaged. A busted SD card wouldnt make songs start to play or anything like that. That would be the rom. Now, if you sent to play a song and it refused to play - that could be another story.

Well he's been having problems reading "gallery and stored music".
Hi guys. I’ll try to be as clear as possible with my very, very weird problem.
I got my Xperia L last Friday. Cool phone, I’m kinda blown for it (hehe), I already love it. The same day I bought a 16 Gbs micro SD storage (Kingston), then I came to my office where I have an ACER PC with Win XP and Ubuntu, and started to synchronize my media... And the problem begun. After finishing synchronization, songs were damaged, they only played for 3 or 4 seconds and skip to the next, or didn’t play at all, the message “this song cannot be played” pop out in Walkman; same case with some images and videos I saved in the card, they were all damaged. I formatted the microSD, and stared all over again, but same situation happened.
Last Sunday I went to my girlfriend’s house, and asked her to let me use her laptop, an AMD G4 with Windows 7. The same thing than before happened, then I thought it was problem of the phone or the software, so I restored with Update Service, after that I tried to synchronize media again, and the problem persisted… I even tried to re-write partitions in the microSD with Gparted, but no.
After that, I was sure it was the micro SD problem so today I went to the store to apply for the warranty. They checked, formatted, saved media on it and asked me to put it on my Xperia, I did, and the content was good, no problems, music playing OK, etc. I was surprised that it didn’t cause any errors… The support guy told me that it may be a virus in windows or Android causing that.
I went back to my office and installed Avast in my Xperia and made an analysis. Nothing bad came out. Then I tried to synchronize media again, and guess what? The same ugly problem was there…I went again to the store and told them that the issue was still there. They formatted the microSD one more time, put even more content on it, then they put it in a galaxy s4 and made tests… Nothing bad happened, everything worked fine. After that, we did the same tests with my Xperia… And everything worked flawless! Not a single problem. However, I asked them to change the memory for another one, but they didn’t accept it, instead of that, I left the microSD, they told me they’ll do more tests in different phones, and if they find any problem they will give me another one or my refund. I'll go to get an answer tomorrow.
What do you guys think about this weird behavior? Could be a hidden virus on my files in my PC the responsible of this? If so, then the same virus is in my computer and the computer of my girl. As a fact, I tried to synchronized media with Ubuntu too, and same bad situation happened.
Oh yeah, I tried different synchronization ways in both systems: via USB cable, Bluetooth and even Airdroid, with no good results.
I also tried an old 4Gbs microSD and nothing bad happened...
And for the records: none of that happens if I synchronize media to the internal storage of the phone, things work OK there…
Any ideas?
Wait are you copying files via a program in PCC or just by Copy & Paste option in Windows/Ubuntu ?
If you doing it via PCC try copying it normaly, like you do it windows with other files

I'm doing so. I never use PC Companion, neither for updating nor for copying media.

It's quite weird, maybe there is a SD problem as you said the old 4 Gb was working.
You can try copying some of the files to internal and the on the phone copying it to SD but this will take a lot of time.
wht do you mean by "syncronize media". Are you using something to do this?

I've tried this already with ES Explorer, it tells me "operation failed" everytime, in every single file I try to copy from the internal to the SD.

Well, maybe I should said "copying" instead of "synchronizing". I'm doing the simple copy-paste actions.
Thanks.
Hi xda guys/gals,
Recently I got a Samsung 64gb microSD to use with my Sensation, formatted it and everything, copied over the data from my previous card (32gb) and it seemed to work until I started putting music on it.
Whenever I try to add anything to the card, it'll look as though it's there, but when I remove the cable, the files are just gone, as if they'd never existed. The same thing started happening with other files, like pictures and such. The ones that my phone will easily access on my 32gb card seem to not be there on the 64gb card.
I've reformatted multiple times, and still the problem persists.
One thing I've tried is to put music in already existing folders. That made it "work", but the songs weren't tagged, were unplayable and apparently had 0kb.
I read a thread somewhere on here about someone with a similar problem (different phone, I believe, though I can't quite remember) but nothing seemed to have come out of it.
I can live with a 32gb card but I got a 64gb specifically for music (you audiophiles out there will understand). Is there any way for this to be remedied, or am I just kind of screwed?
Thanks.
What did you used to format it, PC or phone? Try doing it with phone if you haven't. Also, try to remove it from phone and to transfer files using some card reader.

I formatted using 4ext recovery, and I have tested it with a usb card reader; still doesn't work.
When you boot 4ext have you got an error message about "no mounted sdcard"???
I was wondering if anyone has any ideas or can point me in the right direction to solve this. Yesterday I started getting messages that the apps that were installed on my sd card stopped working...........then the gallery was gone (all my pics) now there's a message in the corner that says Blank SD card......(card is bland or has unsupported filesystem) do you want to format...........I've tried taking the card out and plugging into a PC however it says its a read-only. I don't want to format, is there any way to get all my pics and data back
any help is appreciated

Unfortunately this is mostly a lost cause. This is a known issue on the Galaxy S3, and I've heard a couple of other phones as well, including the Note 2. I've had this happen THREE times on my phone, to the point that I just don't even use an SD card anymore.
From what I've read the brand and size of the SD card doesn't make a difference.
You may be able to recover some of your pics and other files by using file recovery software on your computer. I used a program called Pandora Recovery, and while it spit out the files using different random names, at least I got a majority of my pics back (I had over 1000 on the card).
Beyond that there is no way to recover the data on the card. Once you try recovery software, you'll have to let your phone format the card if you want to use it again. Even Windows won't read the data from the card in it's current state.
Thank you for your help........im going to give Pandora a try and see what happens. I did hear about a program called DiskDigger Pro........so wish me luck..........I wish I was more pro active in reconizing the signs but it just happened out of no where

I believe you should able to cause it happened to me a few times and I able to recover all my stuff (videos, photos). The trick is find a good SDcard recovery software.
This may or may not help, but it's worth a shot.......http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=367912&page=2
This problem is why I will not be buying Samsung phones again. It is BS that I can't even use my 32GB SD card because it will eventually fail I will lose everything on it. It has happened twice in 7 months with the phone already.

disk digger worked great for me except for the occasional corrupt. You have to format first.
Thanks a lot for sharing information about other products. However, while scanning the corrupt SD card encountering error messages and unable to recover entire data. In order to overcome such problems, use Remo Recover tool to restore data from corrupt or formatted SD card.
Just wanted to let you guys know that my old SD cards got corrupted because I tried to configure the metadata of my songs through such apps like player pro and etc. I have a 64gb right now and its been working fine for over a year because I just manually configure everything when I connect it to my computer.
