First thing I want to say that I'm not a big fan of Sony and Sony Xperia E is my first and the last device from Sony.
My point is how can Sony make this much worst smartphone !
I mean the hardware... Just look at it damn! Qualcomm Snapdragon S1 series processor with 512 MB RAM that can't even handle the load of Android 4.1.1 .
I don't know what is the worst part a sluggish performance of hardware of Sony's not so much interesting skin of Android which is giving more load on the hardware.
Now, I will talk about Nokia Lumia 520 ! Just look at the phone man!
Sexy body!
Sexy hardware!
Sexy OS!
The massive power of Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro Krait 1 GHz dual core with 512 MB RAM. WOW!
And the best thing is even the Android is almost free and Windows 8 OS needs licence for the phone.. Both the phones costs almost at the same price.*
Is there any solution of this sluggish performance of Sony Xperia E ?! I have tried everything even CM 10 @ 1.3GHz overclocking but this disgusting phone remains the same and lags as heck.
Why Sony? Why?!
Learn from Nokia.

1. Why compare mate? Before buying a phone, you seriously should have checked up responses and reviews.
2. Have patience. There are many devices, who have sluggish performance. But there are also devs.We still have to wait for @joebonrichie to make 3.4 kernel for our device, which FXP did not.
3. Wait for devs to come up with 4.4,I'm sure that will not disappoint you.
4. You just have to agree that it is not a gaming phone,by using CM10,I sure have no lag at the ui.
Although game lag is present.
5. If you wanted a gaming phone, you should have had to pay higher.
6. Request a few developers to make blind builds of roms else. They might help.
7. Have you tried Pure performances+Greenify+Seeder?

I agree there is no comparison between Windows OS and Android but what I am trying to say is at the same price what Nokia gives is a lot more than Sony in hardware wise I mean just look at the processor and GPU ! Adreno 305 ! Sony looks so conservative people and of course my next device will never be Sony and not even an Android yes ! I would better use iOS devices or Windows because Android itself causes lags though there is ample amount of clockspeed and RAM. >.< LOL

LOL dude ! I know that Android 4.4 KitKat is configured to work like butterly smooth even in the 512 MB RAM config. but the GPU of our device is Adreno 200 and I don't think so that this much old GPU can handle this much smoothness and the best part in this whole scene is the development of 4.4 ROMs for our devices which will probably be under action when our phones will be at the age of retirement !
Alright a bad-joke ! I mean so few developers are developing our ROMs and Kernels and last but not the least we should not beg for ROMs from the developers and stop abusing our phones by not giving overload which shortens the life of phones.
CyanogenMod is officially developing the one for Sony Xperia E let's see how it changes the game !

Hehe I am waiting for the future releases of Nokia and will get a Nokia and if Microsoft messes up Nokia the only option left for me is probably then Apple iPhones. or jolla phones with sailfish OS which is in the starting stage so not so mature but still I love it because it is funded by Nokia and run by ex-employees of Nokia who left the company after Windows came into Nokia.
My point of this post is Sony is such a conservative company which made phone in so low cost and selling with higher profit margin and Sony also doesn't provide any major software updates for such budget phones and as a result most of the people who suffers under major lags in System UI chooses to unlock bootloader and tries CyanogenMod ROMs at their own risks.

If you're still low on cash, I would indeed suggest him to not buy a Nexus 4.
Check: http://swappa.com.
You can find some really nice, already-used(mint condition most of the time!) devices, plus it's very save.
You pay, you get your phone. Done.
Just want to recommend this, because even the Nexus 4 is getting old. And the Nexus 5(although cheaper than other high-end phones), is still not cheap .
Swappa is also supported by XDA. Not trying to advertise, just giving a tip.

Hope so ROM will improve the display and battery life, I will pick mine up probably this week
^depends on popularity, as of now L doesn't have much of a competition in its price range (apart from l9 with inferior specs) so its more or less bound to get some decent activity here and if that happens we'll easily attract devs
Any one bought it yet? It was selling for 16k in hs18 2 days back
I have using mine for a week and I love it. I moved from an Xperia Neo to this phone, they aren't coparable. I can hardly wait for rooting.

In a few hours from now, i will be holding on to my Xperia L bought from Malaysia!
Woohoo!! can't wait to feel it and experience the positive reviews of it!
Well, downside do exist, but to those people who say that this phone is a crap, hold it right there and keep it to yourself.. haha!!

The display is good. I had S2 and hated over-saturated colors and the tint, O.O Battery life is good, too. There's a slight problem with the bloatware draining battery uselessly and the famous media scanner bug in 4.1.x
It's a good phone in this range, probably the best. Although Camera is a little too horrible.

I will help you to get ftf firmware file. So if you break anything with rooting or somehow you can always go back to what your phone came when you bought it. A complete noob can do it.
You only need to reflash your phones firmware with SMUS and upload few files to web.
You don't void warranty and you do not need root.
It'll help you to get forums maybe

it is not a very good idea to work blindly for a device (especially kernels)
to be specific I would like to say
1. do not work blindly on a device if you do not own at least a similar device (similar or same SoC and vendor, like all the 2011 Xperias)
2. even if working on a device is not a problem, releasing it to a place like XDA makes it a tad dangerous for the users.
Saw today an article stating that one of the android kitkats goal is to uniformize the android ecosystem. Meaning the there are a lot of android versions still out there and still selling, even though they are outdated, like GB. Kitkat is design to work even on low end devices like ours, with low ram. It's mainly because developers have a hard time with apps compatibility for different android versions... So, therevwont be any excuse to.why providers shouldnt update to 4.4. My phone, for instance, JLo, came out hardly a year ago, and already support as ended. I paid little for it, but thats for the hardware specs. No excuse not to update it to 4.4 when it comed out. Do you think it will ever happen?
It's almost sure that sony won't update our phones. CM 10.3 from FXP? Well, it will be their good wish in fact. But honestly I think thats is to soon for such speculations Time will show. Greetings
not officially but
http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/1...rt-to-devices-with-as-little-as-512mb-of-ram/
if you've used Android 4.1 or later on a phone or tablet with 1GB of RAM, you know things can get a little tight in the memory department. That's what makes newer and slightly underpowered devices like the Lenovo Yoga a little disappointing. Google has decided to trim the fat with Android 4.4 in an initiative they've christened "Project Svelte." This isn't a single change, it's a wide range of additions to the Android API and optional hardware configurations designed to make KitKat run smoothly on devices with as little as 512MB of system memory.
According to the new 4.4 developer page, Project Svelte starts with recommendations and options targeted at device manufacturers. Specifically:
Dalvik JIT code cache tuning
kernel samepage merging (KSM)
swap to zRAM
tune out-of-memory levels for processes
set graphics cache sizes
control memory reclaim
When it comes to pure software, core processes have been trimmed to use less memory and protect system memory from hungry apps. Android will also launch concurrent services in sequence instead of all at once to prevent slowdown. Imagine it as cleaning out the Startup folder in Windows, except that it's all happening behind the scenes. Developers also have access to the new ActivityManager.isLowRamDevice API, allowing memory-hogging features to be enabled and disabled as needed. Google will be integrating this feature into its own first-party apps, so even those with more powerful hardware should see at least some benefit.
Project Svelte isn't going to magically make older devices compatible with 4.4 - even Google's own Galaxy Nexus (with 1GB of RAM) isn't getting an official update, likely because of the aging OMAP SoC. But this will hopefully help devices like the original Nexus 7 and Nexus 4, not to mention upcoming low-end phones that will launch with 4.4, to better handle resources as apps become more hardware intensive.

Of course it's never coming to Xperia Sony Xperia Miro, Tipo, J, E. You guys will remain on Android 4.0/4.1 forever. You guys must remember, you are all the budget, low end Sony phones. Sony rather put their effort on more expensive phones. Besides, even the dual core, 1GB RAM, Galaxy Nexus is not getting Android 4.4.
Of course not from sony, even not from FXP Team. We are talking about some talented developer here.

Off topic: Phone is made for chat:calls and messages and some games. But producters release phones with display over 5",with quadcore processors or octa core.Phone are gonna to have processor with over 8 cores and nvidia geforce at video and we will play gta 5 lol. Is called PHONE not COMPUTER. Smartphone should have a processor with 1.8 GHz max and Mali400, Mali 400MP or Adreno 305 maxim at graphic and display between 4" and 5" maxim. A smartphone should be SMART.Having big display, processors not make a phone smart. Producers must stop making smartphones with big displays and processors because make nonsense (also making phone with flexible or curved display make nonsense). Features like answer calls by saying "Answer" or by waving hand etc. ,these make a phone smart. I always was thinking to buy new smartphones (which are also popular) which have big display and big processors, make nonsense.I was thinking to buy nexus 4,but for what? Just a more big display and processor? I will be able just to play more new games without lag,but computer is for games not phone. In this moment,Tasked app can make a smartphone really smart. Thanks to the guy which made this awesome app.
So,I never sell my Galaxy S Advance for other phones until he die And maybe after he die I buy another galaxy s advance I love my phone and I'm satisfied with it.You made me to say my opinion about smartphones

So,I never sell my Galaxy S Advance for other phones until he die And maybe after he die I buy another galaxy s advance I love my phone and I'm satisfied with it.You made me to say my opinion about smartphones [/QUOTE]
Good words man, i think that a 5" display is reallyannoying to use because u can't bring with you freely cuz he's really too big! The new 8core are really useless, some galaxy s4 are getting some lags in touchwiz, our telephone not!

Paragraph 1: Our phone is being discontinued already, slowly but it's happening. Thankfully, Team Canjica helps us to take way more advantage of this 768Mb of RAM and 1GHz out of this comfortable 4" screen.
Paragraph 2: You're right but most of the flagships have software features that make them "smart" in a certain way. GS4 has features like Smart Stay and Air Gestures that make it way more useful than generic phones with more specs that just improve perfomance a bit more than needed without any other useful purpose, Moto X goes maybe for busy people that don't have the time to execute those time-consuming tasks that thankfully are shorten considerably depending on those features. Xperia Z1 goes for picture quality and a tad more for sound quality as the HTC One. It mostly depends of each phone. Not every phablet is useless. And about specs increase over time, it's just tech "evolving".

Okay hello fellas, straight shot here's my query
I've short listed Xperia e and Nokia 520.
hardly difference of 2-3 dollars between them
I need a phone for my mother.
her requirements. screen and camera ( that's all)
I'm confused, really wanna try w8 but I've heard that even to move files in between folder you need a pc.is that true..?
please advice.
I think u shud go for 520 its very smooth ur mother will feel happy
On d otherside xe is android means sometime lags.........

Jep. Nokia 520 is my recommendation. But if your mother is used to android, well then I should go for the E. The 520 just offers better hardware, and truth is that windows 8 is a very light OS. So 9 of the 10 times I'd recommend the 520. Only when you want to keep this budget, and your mother is used to Android, buy the E.
Hope I helped.
Have a nice day!

Don't think so deep.
Just go for Nokia Lumia 520 dude !
And if you want detailed reason just scroll down, here I give you !
- Better Performance
- Lag Free
- Qualcomm MSM8227 Snapdragon S4 1 GHz Dual Core Krait
- Adreno 305 GPU
- 512 MB RAM
- Windows 8 OS, which gives latest OS updates to all the Windows Phones quicker unlike Android in which some gets updated else get Babaji Ka thullu
- The Same Fluidity and Same Experience in High End Phones = Low End Phone i.e plus point of Windows 8 OS
- More and more apps are coming and some are already there for what android users cry the most i.e Temple Run, Instagram etc etc.
- Better Resolution 800x480 means more PPI 233 means Crystal Clear Display
- IPS LCD Display, 16M, 4 inch perfect for hands
- Better Camera with skype Support ( You can do skype with rear 5mp Cam ) , HD Recording
- A-GPS, "GLONASS", with Nokia Maps
- BT v3.0
- Built Quality
- Perfect for moms because they don't care much about OS they just need a phone to call and in Sony Xperia E sometimes phone will even lag in receiving calls because of heavy load of Android
- Value for money
- Nokia Ka Bharosa ( Trust of Nokia )
- You'll not regret like us ( Sony Xperie E owners ! )
Now go to shop and buy it NOW !
You're Welcome.
Buying the E would be a fatal mistake. I say that from experience. Go, young man, escape! Get the 520! We're trapped, you aren't. Get away while you can!
thanks to all for healthy responses
so I was initially biased for getting a lumia 520
.
only considered Xperia e because of android .
my mother has a little experience of android but I'm sure she will get used to Windows .
only worries are I've heard that in Windows ,you need a pc for little gimmicks ,that andro performs easily .
otherwise I'm a straight go for 520.
waiting for lumia 525 to release in first week of Jan ,as it will surely hit price of lumia 520.
thanks to all for reply .
About the pc part: well, if you're on a Mac(which I'm not!) file transferring is a pain in the ass with Windows phones. But if you're on a windows PC, no problem. And the part about the little gimmicks isn't that bad, I can tell you. I believe you only have to use a computer for things like transferring contacts etc. Not that big deal.
Wish you all the best!

Sigh. Unfortunately, you're so right... I hate my purchase. Next month I will purchase a Nexus 5, and then this hell will be over . Nah, not that bad. Does come close... But decided to install Greenify again. It does make a big difference, and it's not all placebo! So it's bearable.
Have a nice day

Yeah, I think I'm happy with this device, it has a great camera, sometimes it took great shots, but sometimes don't, but I pretty much took a great ones, and then, for perfomance it is decent to powerful, it sometimes a little lagged, but just sometimes, but that lag isn't disturbing anyway, but no confirmation about future updates like 4.3 or 4.4 firmwares, but I'll keep posting about what's new on Xperia L's software updates here, jist for informing you, and for battery, it is bad to decent, but with active use, it lasts at like 7-10 hours without recharging, with my experience for nearly 10 month using it,
Just reminding it's specs for you :
- 8 Megapixels Camera, Exmor RS Sensor, HD Video Recording.
- Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean
- Dual Core 1 GHz, Qualcomm Snapdragon 400, MSM8230 Chipset
- 4.3" 854x480, TFT LCD Display
- 1GB RAM, 8GB Internal Storage
- Lithium Ion, 1750 mAh Battery
- Available colours : Black, White, Red.
- Pricing at around 2999000 IDR or at around 266 USD
